Chapter 9 – Sending a Message

Being Odin had its perks Loki had to admit. He had the infinite power that he had always wanted, he had ultimate power and respect from Thor and best of all; he could practically see and hear things from all over the universe. He enjoyed watching Earth the most, they were so weak and helpless it made him laugh. It was rare for anyone to send out a message towards the Gods, they always seemed to pray for the wrong one so Loki ignored those, but when he heard the familiar voice of little Minnie Stark, he couldn't help himself.

He heard her calling for Thor and intercepted the message immediately; meaning Thor would never hear it. He listened intently; he didn't understand the emotion he was feeling. He didn't have any humanity; he'd admitted that to himself a long time ago. Yet she had been the only one of the Avengers not to fight him for the sake of it, she had been the only one to show him pity. Even Thor, his own brother hadn't been as pitiful as this child. Loki felt he owed her, he wanted to give her something back, she was different; she was special. She could be helpful to his own plans.

It was brilliance! If he acquired Minnie Stark on his side, convinced her that he had changed and was willing to give more than receive then he would be even more powerful! She had influence over the Avengers, if she stood on Loki's side then there would be no way the others would attack. But she was dying, Loki needed her alive so he sent her a little gift. His sigil of protection, whilst she believed she was being protected and watched over then she would be safe, alive and well. She would believe it was Thor of course, so Loki needed a reason to bring her to Asgard, so he could convince her that he was the good guy.

There was only one way to bring a warrior to Asgard, to start a war. He was Odin; he could start a war wherever he wanted. Not on Earth though, Thor loved Earth too much he would guess that something wasn't right and Minnie would fight opposite him. But there was a small world a short way away from Asgard, the world was small but held a strong army that had potential to do harm to Asgard. This was necessary in order to bring the girl to him. So he began the war. It was a simple task, Odin disappeared on a short trip and once Loki was gone from Asgard he morphed into someone new. An assassin he'd met once, dressed in Asgardian robes. He went to the High King of this world and killed him. Brutally and messily before leaving, making sure he was seen but not caught. Once he had returned to Asgard as Odin war had been declared.

Loki allowed himself a short time to feel triumphant at his clever plan but he was soon strategising with Thor. Thor was suspicious, but then again Thor was always suspicious. But whilst he wallowed in his suspicion Loki managed to convince him that this war had always been inevitable. And, as Odin, he managed to convince Thor to bring one of his precious soldiers to Asgard to help them. As he so cleverly put it:

Bring the child who knows of our culture, of our lives here. She can help us win this war.

Finally, Loki would have his revenge. He would have Minnie Stark, the dying child.
