Minato was on the floor, brush in hand as he painted down the last symbol of his seal. Once he pulled his brush away from the seal, the symbols flashed white until it went back to its normal black.

He started to overlook his work to make sure everything was where it needed to be, just because it flashed in confirmation that it was connected didn't mean that it would work.

The blond man was about one-third of the way through checking when someone started to slam on his front door.

"Namikaze Minato! Open UP!" two more bangs before Minato was opening the front door.

In front of the young jonin was none other than Kushina who had fire in her eyes. She was so mad that her ruby red hair started to float around her, that usually was only shown to "rude people" that called her names as she put it but right now there was no one other than minato that her anger was directed at.

She pushed her way past him as she started to yell faster than the jonin could make out until he caught the end of her rant.

"-ou didn't even bother to send one of those strupid frogs!" by the time she was done yelling her face was bright red from the lack of breathing throughout her whole roaring.

Minato's clear blue eyes widened in realization, he looked over to the clock that was hanging on the living room wall. It read 3pm o'clock. He was supposed to meet Kushina at 11:30am. His face must have drained of all its color because the next moment she had her hand on his forehead.

"Are you okay? Are you sick is that why you didn't show up? Why didn't you tell me?" her voice was shrouded in more and more concern with every question that Kushina asked him.

Her eyebrows pinched in worry as the corners of her mouth pulled down in a small frown. Her deep violet eyes scanned over his face until they made eye contact.

He couldn't help himself, Minato softly grabbed her hand that was checking his temperature and brought it to his lips. He kissed her hand softly as he spoke. "Kushina, I'm fine" he whispered.

It got an instant reaction from the red head. A blush grew on her face so fast that he couldn't tell where her hair started and the blush ended.

A smile made its way to his face while he watched her fidget in embarrassment at his actions. It only deepened his love for the woman that was something he could never get over no matter how many times he saw her.

The pure emotions that she would show was something so rare in the world they lived in. It was such a refreshing thing that Minato would watch all the time if he could. It was short lived, since her face went red from embarrassment to red with anger.

"Then why were you late? Hmm?" She wasn't yelling luckily but her voice was annoyed. Her arms crossed over her chest and she was tapping her foot in an impatient manner.

Minato cowered a little in on himself as he avoided eye contact. He brought his hand to rub at the back of his neck. "well you see" he started nervously "I started to work on this seal-" "Oh that's great! I bet it's for that pervy Sensei of yours!" she started to yell again.

Kushina always got angry when Jiraiya-sensei was ever brought up -didn't matter that she was the one who brought him up- ever since she caught his sensei trying to convince him into going on one of "Jiraiya's research sessions". Everyone knew that just meant looking at women through holes in the bathhouse walls.

Before she could work herself up more, Minato interrupted "it wasn't for him" she stopped mid rant and looked at him.

Her face looked hurt for a moment then that too was replaced with anger "Well who was it for than? They must have been really important if you were so forced for over three hours" even if her words were annoyed. Minato could hear that she was just trying to cover her hurt.

He tried to explain himself but she was too upset to fully let him finish.

He started "W-well it was-""huh? Who was it then?" she interrupted.

Again he tried "it's not just an old theory-" "an old theory for who then?" she butted in again.

"You!" Minato yelled without thinking. He instantly regretted it.

Kushina stood shocked at Minato raising his voice but then his words registered.

She blinked "Me?"

"yes…" when Minato saw that she wouldn't let it go he went on "well it was an old seal that I made after I overheard a conversion you were having with Mikoto-san" his voice went lower in shame at being caught.

"What conversion?" Kushina asked unsure.

Minato looked down so his hair was covering his eyes as he whispered."It was about you believing that some Uzumakis must still be out there" Guilt was slowly weighing in his stomach as the words left his mouth. "So I thought, what if there was a way to track them? Even find them"

Too ashamed with himself to look up, he didn't notice Kushina making her way to his seal room until he heard the door open. Looking up he only caught the end of her hair as she walked inside.

He followed close behind her, she was already holding some papers going over them with her focused eyes by the time he walked in.

She didn't look at him as she overlooked his work. He didn't bother to interrupt her. Minato only saw her with that look in her eyes when she was totally zoned in on something important.

Kushina finished reading it but then started reading it over again. The red head must have gone over it at least three times before she looked up at him.

"d-do you think it would work?" she asked him in a small voice. It broke his heart because Kushina never was unconfident in herself. If she didn't find any errors in his work then it should work but it was like she was unsure of her own abilities.

Hope was so intensely shown through her eyes that it caused Minato to also second guess himself. He didn't realize that this would awaken some hope that was so deeply hidden in Kushina that he has never seen it.

Maybe Kushina didn't even know she still held onto hope.

He couldn't stand by and have her stand alone as she seemed ready to break. Walking over he wrapped his arms around her.

"I didn't find anything wrong with the seal" he whispered to her.

Minato knew that wasn't the answer she wanted to hear but that was the only one he was willing to give her since there still was a possibility that it wouldn't work and he didn't want to give her false hope.

Kushina nodded as she wiped away a few of her tears that she didn't realize she let out.

"I didn't either" she told him.

She pulled away and he let her. Kushina looked over the seal once more until she walked over to Minato's kunai that he used to cut his fingers -fresh blood was needed for every test seal- she picked up and looked over at him.

When he didn't move to stop her, Kushina walked over to the area that needed her blood.

They never noticed Minato's old blood mix with Kushina's blood on the kunai as she cut her finger, the blood dripped off the tip of the blade onto the seal's selected area. The seal started to glow bright like it normally would when activated but then it kept growing brighter and brighter until both ninja were forced to look away.

They really should have gotten Jiraiya-sensei to overlook the seal before they used it, that was Minato's thought as he pulled Kushina out of the room. He didn't stop moving away until both were outside his house and couldn't feel the seals presents.

The two didn't know that not putting a time on the seal forced it to grab onto anyone that had their blood type mixed.

And the only person who had both of their blood wasn't even born yet.

Yennefer woke up to pain shooting throughout her body, it felt like her body was torn apart and twisted until every bone in her body snapped, then it was set on fire.

So when tears started to run down her face she didn't bother to try to stop them. Not that she had much of a choice since she was sure she couldn't move any part of her body. She wasn't sure how long she was laying there, the pain caused her to come in and out of her consciousness.

The only thing that changed was the sun that used to be high in the air was now slowly starting to hide behind the treetops, it wasn't late but it showed that time did pass.

Yennefer's body slowly started to go numb to the pain and it even started to feel cold instead of hot with pain. She couldn't tell if it was from blood lost or she was just dying.

As she got pulled into her unconsciousness once more, she whispered into the empty forest "ellie I'm sorry" a wet blood soaked cough ripped out her throat, cutting her off.

The pain came back full force as the cough continued and as she tried to swallow it back down. But she was more stubborn than any pain that tried to stop her from saying her last words to the one person she considered family. -in this life time or maybe any-

She smiled softly as her broken whisper slipped past her blood stained lips. "looks like i'm not going to be able to keep my promise"

With her words finally out, Yennefer let the darkness take her. After all she has already died once, what's one more going to do?

That thought comforted her. She expected some bright light or new world to be shown, Yennefer didn't remember her first few years in a new life too well but it must have been something like that right?

But instead of any of that, something she never expected to see again appeared in front of her eyes.

It was a forest that was thick with trees, so thick that it was like trees were infused with each other. Looking more like a wall of trees than an actual forest, the width didn't help either. The trees were ten times the size of any tree she has come to known outside of one place.

Her mouth went dry. She really didn't want to get her hopes up but she couldn't stop the fact that her heartbeat was pounding in her ears. Without a second thought Yennefer ran through the forest on a path only she knew. She could close her eyes and still make every turn and jump that she needed too.

As she got closer and closer to a destination only she was sure of, her feet moved faster and faster. Yennefer didn't even realize she was jumping through treetops or the fact that she was running faster than any human could -in her current life- as she jumped onto the ground of an opened area, it was hidden by the trees that were wrapped in a half circle.

The only open part was the cliff that overlooked the sea. One single large tree was placed by the cliff as it hung over the steep drop. The tree was huge even compared to the already massive trees that were in the forest. It was able to cover all of the opened area with shade.

Even as magical everything looked, that's not what yennefer's attention was focused on. Her eyes were locked onto a giant fox that was curled up underneath the giant tree his nine tails moved back and forth giving away that the fox wasn't asleep even if his eyes were closed and his head was resting on his paws. When she finally hit the ground his eyes opened slowly.

Bright blood colored eyes connected with hers. It was like time stood still, only the wind that blew past them showed that wasn't actually the case. Yennefer could see his orange hair move with the wind, she looked even closer at his fur to see that it wasn't only orange but a mix of bright reds and dark yellows. The black fur that surrounded his eyes and kept going until they covered most of the front of his ears.

It was something no one could recreate in a genjutsu since no one has been close enough to her fox and lived to tell the tale.

She looked back into his eyes after her inspection of his fur. They stared at each other for one more moment until it was broken by his teeth being shown as he flashed her a smirk. That's all it took for Yennefer to run and throw herself onto him.

Practically fluge herself onto his snout and grabbed onto him for dear life. Her cries echoed throughout the forest but she didn't care. Big fat tears rolled down her face as she rubbed her face into his soft fur. She started to scream when memories of what they had been through together started to become crystal clear.

It wasn't like she wanted to forget him but it was so much easier than living day by day with the fact she would never see him again when she was reborn.

Yennefer kept crying as she tried to burn everything about him into her memory, to his scent, to the way she could feel his heartbeat even though she was hugging his nose.

Somewhere along the tears he moved her so she was hugging the inside his left front paw as her back rested against his chest.

"Are you done brat?" he asked her in his deep raspy voice that sent vibrations throughout her back. Even if his voice came off irritated she knew he was feeling something as well when it came to seeing her again. It may not be as dramatic as her but he was feeling emotions right now.

She could tell since he was practically wrapping himself around her right now. His left paw was pulling her closer to him as much as she was hugging it. Kurama even started to move his tails in front of his head so they would completely cover her from view.

It wasn't like she would have it any other way though. A small giggle escaped her lips, even if it sounded broken, it was still something other than her crying. A smile pulled at her lips when the giant fox looked down towards her. He moved slowly and sniffed at her and brought his snout to rub against her.

"I missed you so fucken much" she couldn't help but whisper to him.

He blinked and stared at her for a long moment until he turned his face away while he spoke "As did I pup"

Yennefer smirked because she could feel Kurama's embarrassment at admitting such feelings out loud. If she wasn't so emotionally drained from this whole event she would have teased him but that could wait for another time.

For now she just wanted to cuddle with her fox until the end of time. Kurama looked down at her when that thought passed through her mind.

His mouth twisted into a foxy smirk as he spoke. "I don't believe now is the time for cuddles"

Yennefer looked at her fox with a confused look, she didn't think she said that out loud did she?

"Have you already forgotten? That you can't hide anything from me in your mindscape" he asked her in an arrogant tone.

The confused expression stayed on her face and even bleed into her voice "mindscape? We aren't in my mindscape, the only way for us to be there is if I was back into my first life-" "First life?" he interpreted. "What do you mean by that?" She could tell he was on edge by his tone.

If there was something Kurama didn't like it was not knowing.

Yennefer looked away from his gaze that was studying her intensely. She sighed and laid her head backwards on his body.

"Where do I even begin?" she asked a loud to no one. Taking a moment to get her thoughts in order, Yennefer closed her eyes. Kurama, the amazing fox he was. Waited for her until she was ready.

Opening her eyes, Yennefer begins to tell her tail of what she has been doing for the last sixteen years. At first she was repeating some things and forgetting others but it wasn't easy explaining another world to someone.

She was sure she forgot a lot of moments but that wasn't the point, no she just needed to explain that she did have another life.

Kurama stayed quiet the entire time. She wasn't sure he was even paying attention at some moments until his tail tip would brush against her check. Encouraging her to continue her story.

By the time yennefer was done she felt emotionally raw for some reason. It might have had to do with the fact that she never spoke about any part of her life to anyone. This life or the one in the before.

Ellie asked but she didn't get a chance to tell her. Her stomach dropped a little at the thought of her best friend. Yennefer tried to jump up in her sudden realization but Kurama's paw stopped her.

He did feel sure sudden movement, his eyes looked towards her more focused instead of going over all the information she just gave him.

"What is it?" he remarked at her unexpected change of behavior.

She started to wiggle her way out of his hold as she answered "How am I here? I shouldn't be able to get into my mindscape in my new life and yo-" Yennefer cut herself off before she finished her sentence.

But they both knew what she was going to say "you aren't there"

It sobered yennefer from her panic state since she didn't want it to come off as if she was happy he wasn't with her. No it was the totally opposite.

Before the guilt could start to eat away at her, Kurama interrupted "I don't know how we got here, the least thing I remember-" he cut himself off before he finished his sentence much like she did but this time Yennefer wasn't sure what he was going to say. Since she, herself didn't remember a lot before the end.

Instead of finishing his sentences Kurama changed the subject "I do know something is wrong though" the only reason Yennefer didn't push him to continue was because his tone was almost anxious.

Without thinking Yennefer looked to the tree line watching for an enemy that would never come. It didn't matter if they were in her mindscape. There is always someone after her. Her body tensed up in a way it hasn't in years. Her mind tried to forget but her body never did.

"How do you know?" She asked with a blank tone, half of her attention was pulled away because she was wary of her surroundings. She could feel her face being whipped of emotions, her whole demeanor changed from a sixteen year old girl to an ex-racked S missing ninja that survived on the run from hunter shinobi.

Kurama looked down at her for a long moment before he pushed her down to be covered by his paw again, to ensure that she wouldn't leave his side. Then he answered her question "As I was trying to heal your body it was like your chakra coils were shattered and I couldn't heal you as quickly as I used to-" "Oh yeah I forgot I was injured" she said without thinking.

Kurama gave her a deadpan look that she hasn't gotten since she was a naive little girl that just happened to fall upon his cage. Yennefer blushed and looked away embarrassed "S-sorry"

He didn't acknowledge her apology and just continued "The other thing is this" he moved so his tails were father away to give her a better view of them "my tails are slowly being pulled away"

As the words finally registered into her mind Yennefer jumped up with speed she didn't know she still had. She was already running her fingers through his fur as she looked over them.

She only counted seven of them, even after she recounted over and over again the number didn't change. Her mouth went dry and words didn't seem to want to form. Her knuckles turned white with how tight she was grabbing onto the tail in her hand, as if it would disappear if she wasn't holding on tight enough.

Yennefer looked at Kurama in confusion and fear because this has never happened before. Not in her first life and she didn't hear about this in her next. She cussed herself for not watching every single fucken episode. Maybe if she did she would have some idea about what was going on.

"Calm down" Kurama ordered harshly.

Only after she looked at her hand did she discover why Kurama yelled at her, blood red chakra started to bubble over it and was burning and pulling off her skin in slices. She could even feel that her teeth had started to change as she rubbed her tongue along them, now pointed. Her fingernails also grew a few inches and thickened so they resembled a fox's.

She hasn't seen this transformation in so long that she couldn't help but stare at it. However the longer she stared, the faster her anger faded. The faster the angry chakra disappeared with it.

"Remember that we are still connected no matter how many years have passed" It might have been to remind her that she needed to keep in control of her emotions but Yennefer couldn't help but feel it was Kurama's way to also comfort her.

Yennefer smiled at him softly and let herself fall onto his tail, it took a lot out of her when she used Kurama's chakra. Intentional or not. Even if it was easier to let her rage be taken over by this yin-chakra it always took a heavier toll than his yang-chakra.

After she let her heartbeat calm down she looked over at him as she spoke exhausted "okay Kurama"

"I don't need a stupid child using my chakra everytime you get upset" he barked at her.

"Of course, only the best for the great Kurama" she couldn't help but tease. Yennefer knew that kurama didn't mean because it was for him but for the fact that it was slowly killing her when ever she used his chakra. But she didn't care about that fact as much as he did.

He didn't seem to appreciate her stroke of his ego since he lifted the tail she was on, making her fall onto the ground since she was just catching her breath and not actually holding on to it.

An oof was pushed out of her mouth as she hit the floor.

"Don't test me pup I'll cut you off entirely and I wont heal your wounds like before" he threatened with a growl.

Maybe Kurama did appreciate her ego stroking since he used her nickname and they both know that was an empty threat since he has been healing her since she earned his trust when she was 12.

"I don't really know what is pulling me but it doesn't feel human. It almost feels like i'm becoming whole again" he told her, getting them both back on track.

"What do you mean whole?" she asked him unsure what he was saying.

He sat up so he was on his back legs and she could see all his front. "It's almost like when we both mixed completely" he brought his paws up and did some hand signs and then brought both his yin and yang chakra to each of his paws.

Yennefer brought her chakra so it would show in her hand as well. It's blue glow was so different from kurama's orange and red chakra.

He brought his paws together and slowly moved them so they were right in front of her, already following his thought process Yennefer moved her hand so she could connect her chakra with his.

It had an instant reaction, all the chakras latched onto each other and mixed until it turned to a bright yellow. The feeling that it gave off was one that she would never forget. It was like life itself was resting in her hand.

Kurama and her both loved the feeling. With both having such hateful lives, it felt thrilling knowing that they could make something with such life. It was almost like giving the finger to all those who saw them as monsters.

The chakra ball in their hands started to grow more since they were both still feeding it chakra. Kurama pulled away first to Yennefer's disappointment.

"Never mind, it's not like that" he said quietly. Before yennefer could tell if she should be offended by his realization, Kurama continued. "It's not like whole but like if i'm reconnecting to another body part"

Yennefer thought over his words trying to understand what he was attempting to explain. Then a thought struck her. Didn't they have a part of kurama in some jar thingy? And then they put it in a boy. That didn't happen to her but she did hear about it from some kids who were talking about that episode.

She spoke her fears out loud "what if since my seal is opened, maybe you are being pulled into a seal that's closed? And has some part of you within it's seal?"

Kurama looked thoughtful as he went over her words. "But why now? You opened the seal years ago"

Yennefer rubbed her chin in thought. That is true, the seal has been opened since she was 12. What could be different now? What could be pulling kurama away?

Before she could think of some possibility Kurama tensed which caused her to tense as well.

"Someone is coming" His voice held a new edge as he spoke.

Yennefer didn't bother to try to search for whatever Kurama was able to feel that tipped him off into knowing people were coming. She wholeheartedly trusted what ever he said.

Instead Yennefer started to slip out of her mindscape ready to face who ever was coming.

Kurama told her hastily "I wasn't able to heal all your wounds but your legs are almost done"

"I also activated your incognito seal as well so jus-" "run" she interrupted him already knowing what his plan was.

She wasn't in any condition to fight and with Kurama's tail issues Yennefer knew her only choice was to run.

Before she slipped out of her mindscape completely Yennefer heard Kurama call out to her one last time.

"be safe naruto"
