Let's do something different. Bilbo Baggins is not particularly ancient, or the lone member of a once great race of skin changers. He wasn't cursed, he's not on probation. He hasn't got a grudge to fulfil or a debt to repay. Bilbo is a completely ordinary dragon.

Bard and Thran are getting used to their lives as married but they do still have their jobs and it makes things very interesting at times...AU story, sequel to Beast.

The battle has been won, but the Company's adventures are far from over. The Arkenstone takes a grip again, and slowly, Thorin and Company gets torn apart, yet some are still trying to mend the rift between the dwarves, elves, and men. Starts just before Fili's death, but no one gets killed. Has some Kiliel, Figrid. Chapters are not always chronological (same bits from another POV)

When the planned marriage between Fíli and Sigrid falls through, Kíli finds himself volunteering before he even has a chance to question his Maker on the finer points. Like, how did a hasty proposal to the wrong daughter morph into what Kíli suspects might be his perfect match? Or, how is he to convince a perfectly-imperfect princess that she holds his heart in her tiny grasp?

"If I will not have you, I will have no other woman as wife." Those were the words Thorin said one day under your weeping willow, the only witness of your love, of affectionate embraces and stolen kisses.
