Chapter 2, Arrival at Camp Half-Blood
So now I have two problems, one how do I explain to everyone that Mrs. Dodds is dead, and two, how the hell do I get my spear to revert back into my bracelet's charm? As I was thinking about my spear, it flashed red as it disappeared and my charm was back on my bracelet. After staring morbidly at the wall for a few seconds and collecting myself I thought about what just happened, I spent a few seconds staring at the gold pile of sand Dodds left behind, I dipped my head in what little respect I had left for her, then I headed for the museum exit. On my way back I noticed Mr. Brunner, who seemed to be in a hurry with an almost frantic expression on his face.
"Are you okay Mr. Brunner?" I asked as I got closer to him. He seemed surprised to see me at first, I wondered why? Maybe he knew about Mrs. Dodds attemptive murder on me?
"Ahh, Mr. Ibn-La'Ahad, you're alright." He answered me with a hint of shakiness.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be alright after watching my pre-algebra teacher turn into a crazy bat lady." I said sarcastically. The look on his face showed me the sarcasm was not appreciated.
" While I am glad to see you alive, may I ask how you managed that?" He asked after a moment's hesitation, clearly trying to word his statement right. I just smiled shakily and slowly grabbed my spear charm, I did not think he would believe my sarcastic statement and not write me off as crazy. As soon as the spear charm was free from my bracelet, my beautiful spear sprang to life in my hand. I looked up at Mr. Brunner only to laugh at his expression, his mouth dropped a little and his eyebrows shot up. When my laugh reached his ears, he looked at me and glared for a second, then laughed with me for a few moments.
" May I ask where you got that spear Thomas?" He asked after we stopped laughing.
" I've had the bracelet my whole life, it was the last thing my father left me before he disappeared. At least that's what my mom tells me, however I did not know it could turn into an actual spear." I answered my teacher as I shrunk my spear back into charm form and looped it back into my bracelet. My Latin teacher just looked at me sadly as he explained just what kind of crazy world I am a part of now.
" Well Thomas, Mrs. Dodds was a Kindly One, a servant of the Greek God of the Dead, and yes the Greeks Myths are indeed real. You, my dear boy, are a demigod, half-mortal and half-god. I do not know what god yet, but if I was to judge off of looks alone I would say Ares, but your aura is far too powerful for it to be the God of War, unless you're just far more intune with his domains than his other children. The God of the Dead must have thought you were a son of one of his brothers to send a Kindly One after you." I just looked at him shocked, until I remembered all the weird things I have seen, like a guy with only one eye in the middle of his face and that overly sized rottweiler I saw the other day.
"Mr. Brunner, does being a demigod attract monsters? Because that would explain all the crazy stuff I have seen." I asked curiously. He just smiled at me.
" You are correct lad, they are attracted to the smell of your aura, they are drawn to it as it smells like a tasty treat to them." Mr. Brunner responded happily at my curiosity. I smiled at him as he explained more of this crazy world I've been pulled into as we headed to the doors of the museum. I left Mr. Brunner as he directed the class back into the school bus, as I passed Nancy, she decided to make a comment.
" I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt Ibn-whatever!" she said snottily. For a second I wondered who she was talking about, then chalked it up to crazy Greek stuff.
"You wish, Bobofit." I glared at her and smirked as she flinched. I then sat next to Grover as the bus doors closed.

During the bus ride back to Yancy, Grover told me he was also part of the Greek world, a satyr to be exact, at the point I was just glad he wasn't a monster, although that does explain the goat like smell in our dorm room. After the school day ended I went to Mr. Brunner's office with Grover.
"Mr. Brunner, if there are monsters after us demigods, is there anywhere safe from them?" I asked curiously. He smiled and nodded at me.
"It is called Camp Half-Blood, a place for demigods to go to be safe and learn how to survive. It is also where I will be taking you shortly." Mr. Brunner explained to me.
"Can I go see my mom first? I haven't seen her in months and I would like to explain the situation to her." I asked, excited with the prospect of seeing her again.
"Of course, but we mustn't tally there long lad. It could prove dangerous for your mother." Mr. Brunner said. At first I was confused on how it could be dangerous to my mom, then it dawned on me. The scent my aura gives off could attract monsters to her. As we were heading to my mom's apartment, I thought about how I may need to keep my distance from my mom if I want her to be safe. I forgot about that sad thought as I remembered I get to see my wonderful mom again. Once we got to her apartment building and got to her door, I had a huge smile on my face as I knocked on her door.
My mom, Amirah Ibn-La'Ahad, opened the door and greeted us with a smile that just seeing it makes you happy. Until she saw who I was standing with, her smile vanished and she got a steely look in her eyes.
"Chiron, what are you doing here?" She asked Mr. Brunner. As she was talking to my Latin teacher who is apparently the legendary trainer of heroes, I noticed her grasping something in her left hand, I couldn't see exactly what it was but I saw a flash of something silver.
"I'm sorry Ms. Ibn-la'Ahad, your son requested to see you before we left for Camp Half-Blood." Chiron explained to my mom. She sighed, then looked at me with a smile on her face.
"Gods, I missed you Tom!" My mom exclaimed as she wrapped me in a hug. I smiled at her as she let me go from the hug, I was so happy to see her again.
We spent the next 20 minutes discussing how we could set up a way for me to visit without risk of monster attack.

Chiron explained a little bit more about the Greek world to me, mostly about ambrosia and nectar, the food and drink of the Gods as we got closer to Camp Half-Blood. I was just excited to meet other Demigods and hopefully make some friends there!
