It has been a long while my readers! I can say this, either you guys are going to love me, or you're going to hate me. I had no inspiration on the story, and after I was told to look up a few things, an epiphany struck and thus a brilliant idea was formed. For those who get scared by ghosts...I do apologize for future chapters. This idea finally made me realize where I wanted the story to go.
I do not own Naruto, only this brilliant chapter idea!
Temperance sighed as she rested her head on the seat rest of the airplane; it was time for them to head back to Kansas so they could find a way to send the Akatsuki home, and she realized then that she didn't want them to leave. After the Just Dance incident and because the ginger was still intoxicated, she and Kisame had a bonding moment concerning the bedroom. It was the only time they participated in that activity and a week later they finally agreed to go steady in a way, though they both were aware that they'd be saying goodbye and would possibly never see each other again. Temperance thought it would be best to leave Andra in California so she wouldn't hurt her sister by sending her away again, and it tore at her heart seeing her younger sister cry, and during the hospital visit, the younger sister and Itachi both were examined. The Uchiha was examined because his sickness decided to attack him, and the doctor fixed this issue; the doctor said it was cancerous or something like that. Zara looked at her cousin with worry since the ginger was being extremely quiet. "You okay?" she asked from her seat next to the ginger.
"Yeah, I just feel bad for leaving Andra behind...I just know though it would've hurt more if I took her back with me and once again sent her away," Temperance replied.
It was now October since they stayed a little longer than they anticipated, and they were meeting up with Cynthia so they could find out more on the haunted house that she had come across along with the Akatsuki. Little did they know it would send them on a journey they would never expect to happen. Once the plane landed, they got off, found their luggage, and met up with the black haired storm chaser. "Temp! How was your short little vacation?!" Cynthia asked as she essentially slammed into the ginger with a giant hug.
"It was pretty fun and rather adventurous," Temperance replied.
"I'll say," Zara mused.
"So what's the deal with this haunted house everyone keeps talking about?" Helen questioned.
"It's haunted and it may be the key to sending the Akatsuki home," the lesbian stated.
The feather magnet sweat-dropped, "Well thank you for being extremely detailed with the explanation."
"Before we go we should drop off our luggage at my house so we aren't lugging it around," Temperance stated.
Cynthia nodded in agreement and soon all of them were loaded in the truck and once they were at the house, they quickly unloaded the luggage, jumped back into the large vehicle, and headed to the haunted house. Temperance was already fidgeting with anything she could get a hold of. Now, she was fascinated with the supernatural, but it scared the ever living crap out of her. Once at the house they all stood outside of it, and a very foreboding feeling swept over the lot as they stared it down. "So what should we do?" Zara asked.
"Well, maybe we should see what the thing is possibly attached to. Most hauntings occur because something is attached to an item or have unfinished business here on earth," Cynthia remarked.
Temperance stared at the lesbian with a deadpanned expression, "You just came up with that, didn't you?"
The blackette shrugged, "Just two things I've noted from stories mostly."
"Fictional stories more than likely," Zara mused.
"Itachi, see where the most chakra is located," Pein stated.
Said Uchiha nodded before scanning the entire house with his Sharingan. "It's coming from the living room area, but it isn't distinct," he replied.
"Since it's an evil spirit, you think we should start reading scriptures from the Bible?" Cynthia mused.
Hidan scowled at the lesbian before opening the front door, and the second he did, a loud scream erupted before a chilling wave of air washed over the Jashinist and as quickly as it came, it left. The zealot blinked before scoffing, "Was that it? We were so freaked out by that?"
Itachi checked the house again, and the chakra signature was gone. Cynthia cocked her head to the side, "Maybe the ghost just wanted out of the house by any means necessary. Oh, maybe she died in the house!"
"You are way too excited about this," Kisame remarked.
Temperance shook her head as they all entered the house. "Split up and look around. Let us know if you find anything," Pein stated as he noted the now clear sky rather than the dark cloud that always seemed to hang over the once haunted house.
Everyone nodded and they all began searching for whatever would help the infamous gang of ninja return back to the Narutoverse. Zara continued rubbing her forehead; a throbbing sensation had started up when she entered the house, and it got worse as she headed up the stairs. Helen followed her close behind, a concerned look on her face. "Hey, you okay?" the brunette asked.
"My head just started hurting all of a sudden; I mean it's not serious, but it's just weird," she replied as they finally got to the top of the stairs.
"That is strange..."
"Ow!" Zara exclaimed as she placed her hand on her right temple.
Helen jumped at her sudden exclamation, "What happened?"
"I'm not sure, but my the right side of my head is throbbing..." she answered.
Helen looked to their right and noticed an expensive looking necklace. "Hey, look there!" the feather magnet exclaimed as she approached the simple diamond necklace that was covered in dust.
Zara turned towards the necklace and she winced as her headache moved to the center of her forehead. A look of confusion overcame her features as she approached the necklace, and when she touched it, the throbbing stopped. 'That's so weird,' she thought and shook her head. She picked up the necklace and noticed a very small engraving on the diamond that looked like a kanji. "Hey, we found something!" Zara shouted as she continued staring at the necklace.
As soon as she finished her sentence the Akatsuki surrounded the two girls as soon as Temperance and Cynthia made their way up the stairs. "What the fuck is so special about that?" Hidan asked.
"It has a kanji on it, that's why it's special," Zara answered handing the necklace to Pein.
The pin cushion examined it and blinked, "This is the kanji for chakra...Is this the artifact we need?"
"It would appear so," Konan muttered.
Helen cocked her head to the side when she noticed a scroll that was seemingly glowing a feint blue color. She walked over to the scroll shelf and picked up the glowing parchment and began reading the contents out loud, "Entry number eighty-seven: I have been searching for him for a while, but the only clues I've received are that of old folklore and books. He is said to be seen wielding a whip, axe, or sword and has been recorded in some places in Europe since the Middle Ages. More specifically, he's been recorded in America, Ireland, and Germany."
"What are you reading, yeah?" Deidara asked as he made his way over to Helen.
Everyone paused and continued listening to the brunette read the dust covered scroll. "He has been said to call out names when he stopped riding, and when he did, they died instantly. He had a horn he blew to warn hunters not to ride the next day. The search continues and I only hope to find him so I can prove that he exists. End of Entry: Emilia Dockrey," the brunette continued, then she swallowed. "Entry eighty-eight: I have seen him here in America, though I couldn't catch his attention. I only fear that going across the bridge at the Old Dutch Church had brought me nothing but misfortune. I haven't been able to leave this house since I traveled due to a stranger that has been waiting for me to show my face. If I should meet a gruesome end, I only pray that this man comes in contact with the Irish Dullahan, or more commonly known in folklore as the Headless Horseman."
Fog seemed to pour from the scroll before a mirage of a headless rider on a horse galloped towards the others and vanished. Temperance shuddered as the Headless Horseman passed over them. "Okay, that was creepy. Helen, where the hell did you find that dusty ass scroll?"
Said brunette blinked in confusion, "It wasn't dus-" when she looked at the scroll, it was no longer glowing and was in fact covered in layers of dust. "-ty...it was glowing..."
"Is this creeping anyone else out?" Temperance asked.
It got quiet as gears turned in everyone's minds. "Just throwing this out there, but should there be a reason for this to happen?" Cynthia remarked staring at the scroll Helen was still holding.
"It's possible we have to find different artifacts before we can return, but that's unlikely," Sasori stated.
Pein sent a small amount of chakra through the necklace before a hologram like image of a old church showed, and as quickly as it came, it vanished. "It seems we must go find this Headless Horseman...What should we know about him?"
Temperance shook her head, "Not much other than a few stories that have come from the folklore. Let me call Andra since she has a very much so functioning computer with plenty of theories and blogs that are bookmarked."
Without hesitating, the ginger called her younger sister, and after three rings she answered. "Yellow!" the now sixteen year old's voice rang over the phone.
"Purple. Hey, sis, can you do me a huge favor and work you computer skills?" Temperance asked.
"I suppose, though I don't know if I should considering you left me here and didn't bring me with you," Andra bit.
"I told you I had no choice. We could really use your help here before we all have panic attacks."
"...Am I on speaker?"
"Yes, everyone can hear you."
"Hello all! Okay, I'm good. So what do you need me to do?"
"I need you to look up some history of the Headless Horseman. I don't need folklore, but anything else should be fine."
"You're doing something creepy, aren't you?" she asked; her fingers hitting the keyboard could be heard over the phone.
"As a matter of fact, yes."
"How scared are you?" Temperance could practically hear her sister grinning through the phone.
"...Not at all," said ginger denied.
"You lie! You're totally freaked out!"
"I'll jump through this phone and smack you."
"Yeah, yeah. Okay, what do you want to know exactly about the Headless Horseman?"
"Where he haunts, what he does, how he died, etcetera."
"Gotcha. Well, you may or may not like what I've found. I'm only coming up with folklore and Washington Irving's story of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. The only consistent thing is that he haunts Sleepy Hollow, New York near the Old Dutch Church. You gave me a hard search. No, I don't want a haunted hay ride!"
"I guess try scanning books until you find something other than that."
"There are loops in the folklore, if you're interested."
"Like what?"
"They're all similar in a way and can be linked together. Well, other than the horse thief killings."
"What, he's fucking killed people?" Hidan cut in.
Deidara scoffed, "He won't be able to touch anyone, he's a ghost, un."
"Tell that to his whip, sword, and axe," Zara cut in. "Didn't you hear that?"
"No, we were all still talking," Kisame mused.
Helen bit her lip, "What if he tries to kill us?"
"That's where part of the loop hole cuts in. According to the German folklore, he kills those that have committed a capital crime. In Celtic folklore, if he speaks your name and you're guilty, you die instantly."
"So if we're innocent, we're safe?" Temperance clarified.
"That's what it sounds like," Kakuzu droned.
"We have to head to New York; call me if you get an actual background that links the folklores together," Temperance instructed.
"Will do. I'm still mad at you by the way, though. Bye!" Andra finished before the line cut out.
Pein ran a hand over his face, "Is this going to work?"
"I sincerely hope so," Temperance pouted; she really hated hauntings.
I've missed you guys so much! Please let me know how you guys have been!
Q: When going to see a movie that is based on a book, can you read the book first or do you have to wait until you see the movie?
A: I am an INTP personality type.
I went to my first job fair yesterday, and three different companies want me as a manager; they literally started begging almost. It was weird. One was Arby's, but I don't think I'm going to take it because it's low pay for a management position. Oh! Last week I went to Disney World for the first time, and I found the most bad ass Akatsuki hoodie in Epcot. Alas I did't have the money to get it, but it was awesome. I also went drinking around the world; that was an interesting experience xD
It feels good to be back guys! I look forward to reading your reviews my lovelies!
