The Day after Thanksgiving
It was that Friday after Thanksgiving and Juliet got up around 9:15 and went and fixed breakfast for her and Shawn.
Juliet went to get the pancake mix out of the cupboard and there was a knock at the door. She put the pancake mix on the counter and went to see who was at the door.
Juliet looked through the side window and saw Henry on the other side of the door.
"Good morning, Henry." Juliet said opening the door.
"Good morning, Juliet. Is my son up yet?" Henry asked.
"Not yet. I can go grab him for you."
"Do you mind?"
"No not at all. Come in and sit down."
Henry walked through the front door and went and sat on the couch.
Juliet walked back to their bedroom and woke up Shawn.
"Shawn, your dad needs to see you." Juliet whispered.
"No." Shawn grumbled.
"He's sitting on the couch. Seems important."
"Fine."
Shawn sat up and then opened his eyes and his eyes landed on Juliet's face.
"Well hello, Jules." Shawn said.
"Hey baby. Get dressed and go see him." Juliet said.
"Can I please have a kiss first?"
Juliet rolled her eyes and then kissed Shawn.
Juliet pulled away and Shawn pouted.
"You big baby. Get dressed." Juliet joked.
Shawn got out of bed and put pants and a shirt on and walked down the hall and into the living room.
"Hey pop." Shawn said.
"Hey Shawn, can you talk with me outside for a second?" Henry asked.
"Sure. You want coffee or anything?"
"No thanks."
Shawn and Henry went out the backdoor and talked on the porch.
"What's up?" Shawn asked.
"Did you tell Juliet about grandma yet?" Henry asked.
"Yeah. I told her after everyone left."
"How much did you tell her?"
"Everything."
"What was her reaction?"
Shawn smiled, "It was the best reaction I could've ever asked for. She was so understanding. I just want Jules to meet her and it makes me sad that, that's not going to happen."
"She would love Juliet, believe me."
"I miss her dad."
Henry pulled Shawn into a hug, "I miss her too, son."
Juliet saw Henry pull Shawn into a hug and wondered what they could be talking about.
Henry let go of Shawn, "Hey, I found some pictures of you and grandma around the house the other day."
"Can I have all my photo albums?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"I just want them here."
"Yeah, I'll come by later and drop them off. Do you want the pictures of you and grandma as well?"
"Yes please."
Juliet finished cooking breakfast and went and told Shawn.
Juliet opened the back door and poked her head out, "Babe."
Shawn turned around and smiled, "What's up?"
"Breakfast is ready."
"Thank you."
"Henry, would you like to stay for breakfast?"
"No thank you. I actually have to go home and grab some stuff for the day. I will see you two later in the day." Henry said.
"Ok."
Juliet went back inside and fixed her and Shawn's plates.
"Well dad, I guess we'll see you later. Thanks for bringing those albums here." Shawn said.
"I'm shocked you wanted them." Henry said.
"Why?"
"You normally don't like that stuff."
"Well I am about to have my own family, so I would like to have my pictures here."
"Your own family? Juliet's pregnant?"
"No, not that I know of."
"You just said your own family though."
"I mean me and Jules and possibly a baby in the future."
"Oh ok."
"Don't worry. If she was pregnant, we would tell you guys."
Shawn opened the back door and let Henry in and he followed.
Henry walked into the house and walked to the front door.
"See ya dad." Shawn said.
"See you Shawn. Juliet, it was lovely seeing you, as always." Henry said.
"You too, Henry. See you later." Juliet said.
Henry left Shawn and Juliet's house and went to his own house to hangout and grab Shawn's baby albums.
Shawn shut the door and locked it. He headed toward the kitchen table where Juliet was sitting and kissed her on the cheek.
Shawn sat down at the table and said, "Thank you for breakfast baby."
"You're welcome. What did you and your dad talk about?" Juliet asked.
"Grandma."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and kissed it.
"So what do you want to do today, baby?" Shawn asked.
"We can stay in all day and cuddle or we can go Black Friday shopping." Juliet said.
"You want to go shopping don't you?"
"Eh."
"You're turning down a day of shopping?"
"Shawn, we have a wedding in a few weeks. Plus I know what I'm getting everyone and I can order it online."
"What am I getting?"
"A wedding ring."
Shawn's jaw dropped and Juliet laughed.
"I'm not telling you." Juliet said.
"I'll figure it out." Shawn said.
"Oh no you won't. I've already gotten yours."
"When'd you do that?"
"About a month ago."
"And you're just now telling me?"
"Shawn, when have I ever told you about a present that I was getting you?"
"Never."
"Exactly."
Shawn and Juliet finished breakfast and went and watched TV on the couch for a little bit.
Juliet got up and went and took a shower.
While Juliet was in the shower, her phone rang. Shawn got up from the couch and went to go see who was calling Juliet.
"Hello?" Shawn asked.
"Mr. Spencer, what are you doing answering Juliet's phone?" Karen asked.
"She's in the shower."
"Ok, I'll call back later."
"You sure? I can pass on a message."
"Tell her to call me, she knows what is about."
"Oh girl secrets."
Karen laughed.
"I'll see you later Mr. Spencer."
"Bye Chief."
Shawn hung up the phone and went and sat back down on the couch.
20 minutes later, Juliet walked into the living room dressed for the day. She went and sat down next to Shawn and grabbed his hand.
"I heard my phone ringing, is everything ok?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah, Karen just called and told me to tell you that she called and you know what it's about." Shawn said.
"We're just finalizing my work schedule for the rest of the year. What does yours look like?"
"I'm taking off the rest of the year after we get married."
"We can afford that?"
"Yes. I've been putting money aside every week since we've gotten engaged. We have somewhere between $15,000 and $20,0000 saved up."
"Where did you get all this money?"
"I sold the rest of my furniture, which was practically brand new, traded in my bike, broke my lease which saved me tons of money, and the private cases we've been working have been paying pretty well."
"What private cases?"
"You remember the millionaire's son who went missing a few months ago?"
Juliet nodded.
"We got $10,000 for that case."
"Why didn't you tell me? That's a lot of money."
"Because I immediately put it in the bank."
Juliet nodded, "Well, I'm proud of you."
"Thank you Jules. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go shower and get ready."
Shawn got off the couch and went and took and took a shower and got dressed.
It was noon and Shawn came down the hallway dressed.
"Jules, it's lunch time. What do you want to do?" Shawn asked.
"We can go to your dad's house and pick up what you needed and then maybe, just maybe, go eat at the diner and then take a walk on the beach." Juliet suggested.
"Get your shoes on and let's go."
Juliet grabbed her things and met Shawn in the car. She got in the car and Shawn started the car.
Shawn backed out of the garage and down the driveway and began the 15 minute journey to his father's house.
Shawn pulled into his father's driveway and got out and opened Juliet's door.
"Thanks babe." Juliet said.
"Of course." Shawn said.
Shawn took Juliet's hand and Shawn knocked on the door.
Henry came to the door and was surprised to see the couple on his door step.
"Well hello. I planned on coming by later today." Henry said.
"We are going out to lunch and wanted to swing by." Shawn said.
"Well come on in."
Henry moved out of the door way so his son and Juliet could come in and sit down.
"Would you like anything to drink?" Henry offered.
"Water is fine, thank you." Juliet said.
"Shawn?"
"I'll have some of Jules' water." Shawn said.
Henry walked into the kitchen and grabbed him and Juliet a bottle of water.
"Shawn, what brings you here?" Henry said.
"I'm here to pick up my things." Shawn said.
"The baby albums?"
"Yeah."
"Shawn has baby pictures?" Juliet asked.
"Of course. Would you like to see them?" Henry offered.
"Please!"
Henry got out of his chair and went upstairs to Shawn's old room and grabbed his baby albums. He came back downstairs and put the albums on the coffee table.
"I want to pick the first one." Shawn said.
"Go for it." Henry said.
Shawn opened the 4th album and found a picture of him and his grandma making tiny pies together. He took it out of the album and showed Juliet.
Juliet grabbed the picture and looked at Shawn, "Is this your grandma?"
"Yeah." Shawn said.
"You look so much like her."
Shawn pulled out another one.
"Here's the one of her holding me when I first came home from the hospital." Shawn handed Juliet the picture.
Juliet grabbed the picture and then Shawn's hand, "Baby, you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm good." Shawn said.
Juliet thumbed through the rest of the pictures and saw Shawn smiling at her the entire time.
Juliet got done looking through the pictures and grabbed the albums.
"Jules where are you going with those?" Shawn asked.
"To the car." Juliet said.
Juliet went to the car and put the picture albums in the back seat.
Henry turned to Shawn, "You got a good one, don't let her go."
"I can't let her go. I love her too much." Shawn said.
"Grandma would be so proud of you."
Shawn smiled a little bit.
Juliet walked back in and heard Shawn and Henry talking.
"Why the interest in your pictures all of a sudden?" Henry asked.
"I'm about to start my own family with Jules and I kinda want some things to be in my house." Shawn explained.
"You ready for that?"
"Yeah, yeah I am. I didn't think I ever wanted kids, but when I met that cute blonde girl, I wanted to marry her right there."
"What does Juliet think about that?"
"She's ready. I don't think I told you this, but we had a pregnancy scare a few months ago."
"Really?"
"Yeah. She was in Santa Ynez helping on a case and she felt weird, so I had Karen send her home and I went to CVS to get a few tests and she took them right at the station."
"It was negative right?"
"Yeah. She was so crushed dad. I've never seen her upset like that."
"How did you feel?"
"Defeated. Like I wanted to just sit and stare at the wall the rest of the day."
"You two are ok right?"
Juliet came around the corner with tears in her eyes, "Yeah, we're great."
Shawn got up and pulled Juliet into a hug and kissed her head.
"Dad, we're gonna go." Shawn said.
"See you later." Henry said.
Shawn and Juliet walked out of Henry's house and into the car.
Shawn turned and looked at Juliet, "Baby, you ok?"
"Yeah. Let's go home." Juliet said.
"Ok."
Shawn backed down his dad's driveway and drove home.
Shawn parked in the garage and then got out and unlocked the door, so Juliet could get inside.
Juliet walked in the house and went and sat down on the couch.
Shawn grabbed the photo albums out of the car and put them on the kitchen table for later. He made his way over to the couch and wrapped Juliet in his arms.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Shawn asked.
"Did you mean what you said to your dad?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah, I meant every single word of it. Why?"
"I've never had anyone say anything like that about me before."
"I will tell you everyday how beautiful you are and how I can't wait to have our own little family."
Juliet grabbed both sides of Shawn's face, "Shawn Spencer, you are the sweetest man I have ever met. I just know you are going to be a wonderful husband and a terrific father."
"Jules, don't make me cry…"
Juliet pulled Shawn in for a passionate kiss.
Shawn pulled away and said, "Are you ready for our forever?"
"Hell yeah." Juliet said.
