Throwback to when Shawn and Juliet were dating
Shawn's Apartment
There was 2 days until Thanksgiving and Shawn sat on his couch thinking of ways he could make this a very special Thanksgiving for Juliet.
Juliet walked into Shawn's apartment and she saw him sitting on the couch sleeping. She put her purse down on the coffee table and went and hugged Shawn.
"Hey." Juliet said.
Shawn looked at Juliet and smiled, "Hey. How was your day?"
"Busy."
Juliet sat down next to Shawn and gave him a kiss.
"What are you doing this year for Thanksgiving, Jules?" Shawn asked.
"My mom is coming into town." Juliet said.
"That's neat."
Shawn leaned back into the cushions a little more and crossed his arms.
"Why are you acting so weird?"
"Does she know we're dating?"
"No."
"Jules, we've been together 3 months!"
"I know. I'm sorry. It just hasn't come up in our conversations."
"Did she know about Declan?"
Juliet shook her head.
"You don't have to meet her Shawn, if you don't want to." Juliet said.
Shawn knew that Juliet wanted him to meet her family, so she can tell everyone that he's her forever.
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand, "Jules, I want to meet her."
Juliet's head popped up, "What?"
"Yeah, we've been serious for a while now and I think it's time I've met her."
"Shawn…"
"Jules, this is obviously very important to you, which means, it is important to me."
"You mean that?"
"Yeah, I do."
Juliet smiled and leaned into kiss Shawn.
"When does she get here?" Shawn asked.
"Tomorrow night. Her flight lands at 5." Juliet said.
"Do you want me to get your apartment ready?"
"Why are you doing this?"
"I mean, you are cooking all day tomorrow. I thought you would like a little extra help."
"Are you trying to get a little extra help?"
"Always."
Juliet laughed, "Maybe if you behave the next couple of days."
"Days?"
"Yes. Days."
Shawn rolled his eyes.
Juliet curled up next to Shawn and played with his fingers.
"Jules…" Shawn started.
"Hmmmm?" Juliet asked.
"Would it be ok if my dad could join us?"
"Yeah, I don't see that as a problem."
"Thanks."
The Next Day
Juliet woke up the next day around 9:30 and began her day by taking a shower. Once she got out of the shower, she dried her hair and got dressed.
At 10:30, her phone rang.
Juliet ran to the table and answered it without looking to see who was calling.
"Hello?" Juliet answered.
"Well good morning to you too." Shawn said on the other line.
"Oh hey. Good morning."
"What's going on?"
"I'm running crazy behind."
"Are you sure you don't need help?"
"I think so."
"Jules, take a deep breath. Go sit on the couch for me."
Juliet did what Shawn told her to do.
"Ok. Take a break for 5 minutes please. I don't want you to overwork yourself and have you be tired when your mom gets in."
"Oh you take such good care of me, even when you're not here."
"It's what I do."
"I'll call you back in a few hours."
"Ok. Have fun."
"Thanks. I don't have much. I pre-cooked everything the night before last."
"Smart girl."
"Thank you."
"Well go get cooking and I'll see you around 7?"
"For what?"
"I planned on staying the night at your place so we could wake up together tomorrow."
"Yeah sounds fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Shawn yes. Now go enjoy your day with Gus."
"Bye Jules."
"Bye Shawn."
Juliet hung up the phone and got started on the last bit of cooking she had to do.
Shawn
Shawn was walking on the boardwalk with Gus drinking a smoothie.
"I think I'm going to tell her tomorrow." Shawn blurted out.
"Tell who what?" Gus asked.
"I'm going to tell Jules that I love her."
"Woah. You're using the L word."
"I know. Scares the hell out of me."
"Why?"
"I've never been in love before."
"It's a good feeling though, right?"
"Yeah. I love it, I just want to be Jules' forever guy."
"Then you know what you gotta do."
"I don't want her to leave me."
"Shawn, that's your battle."
"Thanks Gus."
4:30 PM
It was 4:30 that same afternoon and Juliet just finished cooking and turned off the stove and put the food in the fridge for tomorrow. She grabbed her phone, purse, and keys and walked out the door to head to the airport.
Juliet got to the airport and waited on her mom to come out.
After waiting 10 minutes, Juliet's mom got in Juliet's passenger seat.
"Hey mom." Juliet said.
"Hey Julie. How are you?" Maryanne asked.
"Good. How was the flight?"
"Breezy."
"Good."
Juliet left the airport and drove back to her apartment. She pulled into her parking spot and saw Shawn's bike 3 spots down from hers. She put the car in park and helped her mom with her things.
Juliet unlocked her apartment and went inside and saw the place spotless.
Maryanne followed Juliet and said, "Juliet, your place looks amazing."
"Thank you, mom. Excuse me a second." Juliet said.
Juliet ran to her bedroom and opened the door and saw Shawn passed out on her bed. She closed the door behind her and got on the bed and on top of Shawn.
"Thank you." Juliet whispered.
Shawn smiled in his sleep, "You're welcome."
Shawn wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a kiss.
Juliet got off of Shawn and off the bed.
Shawn sat up, "What are you looking for?"
"My boyfriend." Juliet joked.
"Hey, I know how to clean."
"When you want something."
"I do have something to tell you."
"If it's you're not psychic, I know."
Shawn's jaw dropped, "How?"
"Shawn, I retraced your steps a while back and you left your jacket and I put all the pieces together."
"Where does that leave us?"
"We're not going anywhere."
"You're joking."
"No. I'm upset you lied, but damn Shawn, you're smart."
Juliet's mom knocked on the door, "Julie, are you ok?"
"Yeah mom. I'm on the phone." Juliet said.
"You know, you just might be my favorite human in the world." Shawn whispered.
"Oh yeah?" Juliet asked.
Shawn wrapped his arms around Juliet's waist and whispered on her lips, "Oh baby, you won that spot a long time ago."
Juliet threw her arms around Shawn's neck and kissed him.
Shawn pulled away, "Go visit with your mom."
"I don't want you in here all by yourself." Juliet said.
"I'm ready if you are."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and walked out of her bedroom and into the living room.
Maryanne heard footsteps coming down the hall and saw Juliet holding Shawn's hand.
"Mom, this is Shawn." Juliet introduced.
Maryanne got up and went and stood in front of Shawn.
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. O'Hara." Shawn said.
"Nice to meet you too. How do you know Juliet?" Maryanne asked.
"We work together."
"Juliet, who is Shawn to you?"
"Mom, he's the best boyfriend in the world." Juliet said.
"How long have you two been together?" Maryanne asked.
"A little over 3 months." Shawn said.
"Are you two serious?"
"Yes, very serious."
"Juliet?"
"Yes, we are very serious. I know it's fast and sudden, but he's my person, mom."
Juliet smiled and leaned into Shawn's arm.
"So what's on TV tonight?" Shawn asked.
"Grey's Anatomy." Juliet said.
"Not again."
"Oh hush you big baby. You love it."
"Don't tell anyone."
"Never."
Shawn and Juliet made their way to the loveseat while Maryanne got on the couch.
Shawn threw his arm around Juliet's shoulder and pulled her closer.
They all watched TV until about 9:45 and Juliet got up and locked up for the night.
Maryanne stood up, "I will see you guys in the morning."
"Yes ma'am. You have a good night." Shawn said.
"You too."
Juliet hugged her mom and then made her way to the bedroom with Shawn.
Shawn followed right behind her and shut the door behind them.
"Wow." Shawn expressed.
"Wow what?" Juliet asked.
"Your mom is the first mom I've ever wanted to meet."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I want to know how you got so you. I clearly see it."
"She's the best mom ever."
Shawn smiled a small smile then looked away.
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
"No, you're fine. It's just I miss the bond that me and my mom had." Shawn said.
"I know, baby."
"If we have kids, I'm not leaving."
"Kids?"
"Too far ahead?"
"Little bit. Where is all of this coming from? You don't even know what you want for breakfast in the morning."
"I don't know. I kinda like it. I like planning my life out, only if you're in it. What do you say Jules?"
Shawn got off the bed and started to get into pajamas.
Juliet sat on the bed and just stared at Shawn.
"Shawn, I know we're getting serious, but…" Juliet started.
"I'm sorry if I went too far." Shawn apologized.
"Don't do that. Don't apologize for that. I like Serious Shawn."
Shawn went in Juliet's bathroom and began washing his face.
While Shawn was in the bathroom Juliet got undressed and put pajamas on and met Shawn in the bathroom to brush her teeth.
Shawn was finished brushing his teeth, he made his way back into Juliet's bedroom and got on what he liked to call "Shawn's Side" of the bed.
Juliet followed right behind him.
They got under the covers and Juliet turned on the TV for a little bit.
Shawn rolled over, "Night Jules."
Juliet looked over at Shawn and smiled, "Night Shawn."
While Juliet was still awake, she began to think what if she was married to Shawn.
Juliet felt her eyes getting heavy so she turned off the TV and went to sleep.
Thanksgiving Day
It was 10:00 on Thanksgiving Day and Juliet had just gotten up. She hopped out of bed and went into the kitchen and saw her mom drinking coffee.
"Good morning." Juliet said.
"Good morning. Sleep well?" Maryanne asked.
"Yeah, great actually."
"You're up late."
"Yeah I got to thinking about some things."
"What?"
"What my life would be like if me and Shawn got married."
"And?"
"I love it. It's everything I dreamed of."
"Do you want to spend the rest of your life with him?"
"Yeah I do."
"He's a good match for you Julie."
"You think so?"
"Absolutely. While you two were watching TV last night, I've never seen you that comfortable around a boyfriend."
"He's something else."
A few minutes later, Shawn got up and went into the kitchen to pour him some juice.
"Good morning." Shawn said.
Juliet turned around, "Good morning. How'd you sleep?"
"Great. I think I sleep better here."
"Do you?"
"Yeah. It may be the bed or it may be the person, I don't know."
Juliet smiled.
"Good morning, Maryanne." Shawn greeted.
"Good morning, Shawn. Have a good night last night?" Maryanne asked.
"I did. Nights with Jules are always good."
Juliet walked over to Shawn and gave him a kiss.
"What time is your dad coming over?" Juliet asked.
"4ish. Is that too early?" Shawn asked.
"No it's perfect. I actually wanted to go for a walk on the boardwalk tonight."
"I think we can do that."
"Who said you were invited?"
"Jules, you need company. I just so happen to look good in that lighting."
Juliet threw her head back and laughed at the joke from a few years ago.
"You do happen to look good in that lighting." Juliet said.
Shawn smiled.
"Do you want breakfast or do you want to get ready?" Juliet asked.
"Get ready. I'll be starving by 4 anyway." Shawn said.
Juliet nodded, "Go on then."
"Now?"
Juliet nodded.
Shawn left downed the rest of his juice and went and took a shower.
Juliet followed him.
Right before Shawn got in the shower, Juliet went over to him and pulled him in for a deep kiss.
"Jules…" Shawn mumbled.
"Shawn." Juliet stated.
"You better stop it right now. Your mom is in the living room."
"Buzzkill."
"Sorry baby. That weirds me out."
Juliet nodded in agreement.
"Later?" Shawn asked.
"Tomorrow. She's gone tomorrow." Juliet said.
"Fine."
Shawn gave Juliet one last kiss and then took his shower.
15 minutes have gone by and Shawn was done in the bathroom. All he had to do was get ready.
A few weeks ago, Juliet took him shopping for clothes to keep at her apartment, for when he spends the night.
Shawn went over to the empty closet and picked out skinny dark wash jeans and a royal blue button down shirt. He put it on and went into the living room to see if Juliet liked it.
Juliet heard heavy footsteps coming down her hallway, she figured it was Shawn so she didn't turn around.
Shawn walked into her line of view and Juliet looked at Shawn.
"So. What do you think?" Shawn asked.
"You even tucked the shirt in." Juliet said.
"Jules."
"You look very nice. Now go put on the casual shoes instead of your sneakers."
Shawn nodded.
Juliet got up and began her journey to the bathroom for her to get ready. She walked in and saw Shawn on the floor putting his shoes on.
"Hey baby." Juliet said.
Shawn looked up at Juliet and smiled.
"You did really good picking out your clothes." Juliet mentioned.
"Thanks. I wanted to surprise you." Shawn said.
"You certainly did."
Shawn got up off the floor and kissed Juliet and walked out into the living room to talk with Maryanne.
Maryanne saw Shawn walk into the room and said, "All done?"
"Yes ma'am. Now we're just waiting on the princess to finish up." Shawn said.
"Princess?"
"It's a little nickname I have for her."
Maryanne smiled and look away.
Shawn's phone rang.
"Hello?" Shawn asked.
"Hey Goose." Maddie said.
"Hey mom. What's up?"
"I am in town for the weekend. Would you like to come over to your dad's and eat with us tonight?"
Shawn stepped outside and talked to his mom.
"Mom, dad is coming to Juliet's place for dinner." Shawn said.
"Are you two finally together?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah we are."
"Are you happy?"
"She makes me so happy. I just hope I make her feel the same way."
"Shawn Spencer, you know you make that girl happy."
"I know. We are getting serious."
"How long have you two been dating?"
"A little over 3 months."
"Have you told her you love her yet?"
"Not answering that question. Next question please."
"So that's a no."
"Mom! You don't need to know every detail about my relationships."
"I'm your mother."
"I'm sorry that privilege ran out when I turned 18."
Juliet walked out of the bedroom dressed and went and looked for Shawn.
"Where's Shawn?" Juliet asked.
"On the phone outside." Maryanne said.
Juliet walked outside and saw Shawn laughing. She went up behind him and hugged him.
Shawn looked down and smiled.
"Mom, I got to go." Shawn said.
"You ok?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah. I'm just being attacked by my girlfriend right now."
"Will I at least see you two tonight?"
"Hold on."
Shawn pulled the phone away from his mouth, "Can my mother come to dinner as well?"
"Yeah." Juliet said.
"Mom! Dad is going to be here around 4. Catch a ride with him." Shawn said.
"Ok. I will see you two later." Maddie said.
"See you mom."
Shawn hung up the phone and sighed.
"You ok?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. I just wasn't expecting her to call, let alone be in town for a holiday." Shawn said.
Juliet hugged Shawn and rubbed his back.
"Let's go inside." Juliet said.
Shawn nodded.
"Oh and by the way, you look hot." Shawn mentioned.
"Hot?" Juliet asked.
"Oh yeah."
"Keep that up Mr. Spencer and we will cancel everything."
"I'm actually looking forward to my first holiday with my amazing girlfriend."
Juliet smiled and opened the door and went inside.
3:45
It was 3:45 and Juliet was warming everything up and Shawn was setting the table.
Maryanne was sitting on the couch watching TV.
There was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Juliet said.
Juliet left the kitchen for a brief second to open the door. She opened the door and saw Maddie and Henry.
"Hello Mr. Spencer." Juliet said.
"Hello Juliet. Happy Thanksgiving." Henry said.
"Happy Thanksgiving to you."
Henry walked off and went to go talk to Shawn.
"Maddie!" Juliet greeted.
Maddie pulled Juliet into a hug, "I'm so glad you two are together."
"Me too. It took a while, but we made it." Juliet said.
"Speaking of, where is he?"
"Should be in the living room."
Maddie walked with Juliet and then veered off to the left and saw her son and Henry talking.
"Boys." Maddie said.
Shawn looked at his mom, "Mom! I missed you."
Maddie hugged Shawn, "I missed you too, Goose. Are you happy?"
"Yeah. Very."
"Good."
"Mom, dad, this is Juliet's mom, Maryanne." Shawn introduced.
Maddie stepped first and shook her hand, "Hi there. Maddie Spencer."
"Nice to meet you." Maryanne said.
Henry was pushed a little by Shawn and greeted Maryanne, "Hi. I'm Henry Spencer."
"Nice to meet you both. You two have quite the son on your hands." Maryanne said.
Henry chuckled, "You don't know the half of it."
"Shawn was an outgoing child. He couldn't stay in one place for more than 15 minutes." Maddie said.
"He's a good guy." Henry said.
"He sure is. He makes Juliet very happy." Maryanne said.
"She makes him happy. I've never seen Shawn this relaxed before." Henry said.
Dinner was ready and the guests got their food first.
Shawn and Juliet finally sat down and began to eat.
"So Shawn, you two are living together?" Maddie asked.
"No. I still have my place. I spent the night over here, so I could be with her this morning." Shawn answered.
"That's sweet."
"He's very sweet." Juliet added.
"Juliet, how is he as a boyfriend?" Maddie asked.
"He's the best boyfriend I've ever had. I couldn't ask for a better one." Juliet said.
Shawn smiled.
They ate and joked around for a few hours and then Henry and Maddie left. A few minutes after Shawn's parents left, Shawn and Juliet left the apartment to go walk on the boardwalk.
Juliet parked in the parking lot and got out and waited on Shawn.
Shawn got out of the car and walked over to Juliet and grabbed her hand.
They got about halfway down the boardwalk and Shawn blurted out, "Jules, you know I love you right?"
Juliet stopped in her tracks and Shawn looked at her.
"Really?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. I've been wanting to say it for a while now, I just had to make sure I was ready. Plus I wanted it to be just us two when I said it."
"I love you too. I have for a while now."
"How long is a while?"
"Our very first date."
Shawn thought back to their first date and smiled.
"That was a good date." Shawn said.
"That will be the last first date I will ever go on." Juliet said.
"Jules."
"Shawn."
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"What do you think I'm saying?"
"You want to get married."
"Yes, not now, but later down the road, yes."
"Damn."
"What?"
"I wanted to propose to you first before you said all that."
"I'm sorry. But now you know my answer."
"Do you still want a nice proposal?"
"Shawn Spencer, of course I do."
"Good. I've been planning one since we've met."
"Oooh it must be good then."
"Oh it is!"
Juliet pulled Shawn in for a kiss and then snapped a picture of them kissing.
"I love you." Shawn whispered.
"I love you too." Juliet said.
"Do you want me to start putting things at your place?"
"Are you moving in?"
"No. Wait. I don't know."
"Do whatever you feel like. I'm in no rush. As long as I'm with you, I'm good."
Shawn hugged Juliet and they began walking back to the car.
Juliet pulled into her spot and they went inside laughing.
"Shawn. Shhh." Juliet whispered.
"Why?" Shawn asked.
"My mom is here."
"Sorry."
Juliet locked the door and then Shawn picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and ran to the bedroom. Shawn kicked the door shut and tackled Juliet on the bed.
"Happy Thanksgiving Jules." Shawn said.
"Happy Thanksgiving Shawn." Juliet said.
Shawn kissed Juliet and Juliet rolled on top of him.
I didn't intend for it to be this long, but it came together perfectly!
