Shawn and Juliet have been married about 5 days here.
Spencer Household
Shawn walked in the door and saw Juliet rocking a baby to sleep. He quietly put his bag down and walked up to her and gave her a kiss.
"Hi." Shawn whispered.
"Hi. How was your day?" Juliet asked.
"Good. How was yours?"
"It's Friday, so, amazing."
"That's good. Who is this little dude?"
"This is Michael. My friend Lauren needed a last minute babysitter and since we will have a little one soon, I told her we would do it."
"I thought you had the baby early."
Juliet laughed, "It doesn't work like that baby."
Shawn smiled.
"You want to hold him?" Juliet asked.
Shawn got nervous, "I guess. Jules what if I drop him?"
Juliet looked Shawn in the eyes, "Baby, I know you're nervous, but don't be. I'm going to be right in the bathroom."
Juliet handed the baby to Shawn and stood there for a second to watch Shawn get adjusted.
Shawn got adjusted and looked at Juliet and smiled.
Juliet kissed Shawn and then went to the bathroom.
Shawn moved to the couch and put Michael on his chest and watched TV.
Juliet came around the corner and saw Shawn on the couch watching TV. She walked over to him and sat down next to him.
"I'm excited for this, Jules." Shawn said.
"Really?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. When I walked in the house today you were rocking the baby and it made me happy."
"Well, we got about 7 months to go, don't get too excited."
"That long?"
"That's why I told you not to get too excited."
"Can we keep this one until ours gets here?"
"I don't think Lauren would like that."
"I'm very convincing, Jules."
"Shawn, this is her and Luke's baby."
"Fine. I guess I have to wait until ours gets here."
Juliet laughed at Shawn's behavior.
Shawn wrapped his arm around Juliet's shoulder and pulled her closer to him.
Juliet threw her arm over Shawn's waist and laid her head on his shoulder.
An hour later there was a knock on the door.
Juliet got up and went to the front door and saw Karen.
"Hello." Karen said.
"Hey Chief. Come on in." Juliet said.
Karen walked in and went to the kitchen and saw Shawn sleeping with Michael on his chest.
"Whose kid is that?" Karen asked.
"A friend of mine, Lauren. She needed a last minute babysitter." Juliet said.
"How did Shawn react?"
"The best reaction I could ever ask for."
"Really?"
"Yeah. He even asked if we can keep Michael until ours gets here."
Karen laughed, "That's something Spencer would say."
"He's going to be the best dad in the world."
"You think so?"
"Yeah. He's sweet, kind, oh we can't forget, funny, and childish, but in a good way."
"What does Henry think of the news?"
"He thinks Shawn is going to be the same type of father Henry was to Shawn."
"I bet Shawn was pissed.
"Oh he was. The morning after the wedding, Henry came over here to talk to Shawn and Shawn asked Henry if he was happy that he was getting a grandchild and Henry just sat there and said I don't know."
Juliet went to the cabinet and grabbed a wine glass and poured Karen a glass.
Karen took the glass and the ladies made their way to the back porch to talk.
Karen sat down at the table and face Juliet.
"How are you feeling?" Karen asked.
"Pretty good so far, I'm hoping it doesn't get worse than this." Juliet said.
"Morning sickness?"
"Here and there, but it's rare."
"How'd you react to Henry's reaction?"
"I was livid. I have never seen Shawn that upset before."
"You have every right to be."
"Like, Henry is family, but right now, he's pissing both me and Shawn off at the way he reacted. Shawn won't even talk to him."
Juliet heard the door shut and saw Shawn carrying Michael.
Shawn walked over to Juliet and kissed her, "Hi."
"Hi how was your nap?" Juliet asked.
"Awesome."
Shawn took a seat next to Juliet and put his shoes on the table.
"Mr. Spencer." Karen greeted.
"Hey Chief. How are you?" Shawn asked.
"Good. Just came over for a drink."
"That kind of week huh?"
Karen laughed, "You could say that. How are you?"
"Good. Christmas is in 4 days and then we go on our honeymoon."
"Is Psych taking cases right now?"
"Depends on what it is."
"Murder in the woods, we have no leads."
"I'm not trying to sound bitchy, but I don't want Jules in the field, especially when I can be there for her."
"Shawn, I'm pregnant, not disabled." Juliet said.
"Exactly, you're pregnant. I can't lose both of you."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand, "Baby, when have you ever known me to go out in the field if I didn't feel safe?"
"Never, but I don't care. I know you hate desk work, but Jules, we just found out that we're having a little one. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I lost you and the baby."
"You know Shawn, I worked in the field when I was pregnant with Iris." Karen said.
"You did. Was your husband scared?"
"At first he was. To calm him down, I started taking 4-5 officers with me when I went."
Shawn looked at Juliet, "Jules, promise me you will be extra careful if you do go in the field."
Juliet smiled at Shawn, "I promise. I'll even bring Karen along."
Shawn looked over at Karen, "Please keep an eye out for her."
"Of course." Karen said.
"What time is Lauren coming to pick up the baby?" Shawn asked.
"Later on tonight. Why?" Juliet asked.
"I was just wondering if we were going to have a guest."
"Nope, just us two tonight."
Karen looked at Shawn and saw how comfortable he was with the baby.
"Shawn, are you ready to become a dad?" Karen asked.
"Yeah I am. I have Jules her by my side in case I mess up." Shawn said.
During Shawn and Karen's conversation, Juliet's phone rang.
"Hello?" Juliet asked.
"Hi, it's Henry." Henry said.
"Uh hey, Mr. Spencer."
Shawn's head quickly turned and looked at Juliet to see what the conversation was about.
"Juliet, have you talked to Shawn today?" Henry asked.
"Yes. He's sitting down right in front of me, why?" Juliet asked.
"I messed up bad."
"Meaning?"
"I think I ruined our relationship forever."
"Why are you calling me to tell me this?"
"Because his stubborn ass won't pick up the phone."
"Hey! He has every right not to answer your calls. You're lucky I picked up without seeing who it was first."
"So you're mad at me too?"
"Of course I'm mad at you. Your only son just got married and he's expecting a baby, like why would you tear him down like that?"
"I don't know."
"Exactly. Look, we've known each other for a while and now I'm your daughter-in-law, so I have an obligation to say something to you."
"Go on."
"I respect you and love you, I really do, but you have got to stop picking out Shawn's insecurities. You don't see how he acts when we get home from your house, he keeps to himself and spirals out."
"He's always done that, since he was a kid."
"Henry, I don't think you're getting it."
"Excuse me?"
"You're not getting it. Shawn is a total different person now. For one, he got married, something you never thought would happen, oh and he's having your grandchild, which you're pissed off about."
"Is there a point to this?"
"Yeah. When we come around you, don't pick at Shawn. If you continue to do that, we won't be seeing much of each other anymore."
"Juliet you don't mean that."
"I'm 100% serious."
"Does Shawn know you're saying this?"
"He's sitting right in front of me."
"Well…"
"Well, I gotta go cook dinner. Bye."
Juliet hung up the phone and looked Shawn in the eyes and smiled.
"Thank you." Shawn whispered.
"Of course." Juliet said.
Karen saw the interaction and decided she overstayed her welcome.
"Well guys, I will see you Juliet on Monday, Mr. Spencer, I'm sure I'll see you soon as well." Karen said.
"Sure thing." Shawn said.
Juliet got up and walked Karen out.
Juliet and Karen got out of earshot and Karen said, "Wow, I never thought you would say that."
"Well, enough is enough and since I'm married to that man in there, his happiness is important to me." Juliet said.
"I'm proud of you. I know Shawn is too."
"We're about to find out."
"Tell me on Monday?"
"Yep."
Karen walked out of the Spencer house and got in her car and went home.
Juliet came back inside and locked the door and made her way to the living room and found Shawn and the baby on the couch.
"Hey." Juliet said.
Shawn looked up at Juliet, "Hey. I want to thank you for what you did."
"You're not mad about it?"
"No. You stood up for me and I really appreciate it Jules."
"Shawn, I know you better than you think I do, I will do anything and everything to make sure you are happy."
"I will do the same for you."
"But the last part about not seeing him as much, do you agree with it?"
"100%."
"Ok. It just came out so fast that I didn't know what I said until I said it."
"Jules, don't worry about that at all."
Juliet was about to speak before her face contorted into a funny face.
"Why are you laughing at me?" Juliet asked.
"Your face." Shawn said.
"Give me the baby, you know what, you and the baby follow me."
Shawn got up and followed Juliet to the bedroom.
Juliet walked in the bedroom and turned on the light. She walked over to Michael's baby bag and grabbed the diapers, wipes, and the changing pad out. Juliet laid the things down on the bed and grabbed Michael from Shawn.
"You Mr. Spencer are about to change a diaper." Juliet said.
"I didn't sign up for this." Shawn said.
"You did when you got me pregnant."
"I didn't hear any complaints…"
Juliet glared at Shawn.
Juliet put Michael down on the changing pad and started changing him.
"I thought I was doing it." Shawn said.
"You want to?" Juliet asked.
"Will you teach me?"
"Yeah, come here."
Shawn stood by Juliet and did the steps Juliet said to do.
Shawn took the diaper off and Michael peed on Shawn.
Shawn jumped and Juliet bent over laughing.
"Something funny, wife?" Shawn asked.
"You got peed on." Juliet laughed.
"That only happens with boys, doesn't it?"
"I'm afraid so."
"Don't we have a lot to look forward to."
Juliet laughed and went over to Shawn and kissed him.
"What was that for?" Shawn asked.
"You being a good sport." Juliet said.
"At what?"
"Look at you, you have a diaper in your hand, and you're willing to let me teach you how to change a diaper. 8 years ago you wouldn't even look at it."
"Yeah, that's because I met you and I wanted to settle down and have a couple of kids with you."
"How's that working out for you?"
"Finish changing the baby and we'll talk."
Juliet took the diaper from Shawn and changed Michael real quick and turned around and bumped into Shawn's chest.
"What was your question again Jules?" Shawn asked.
"I asked how was that working out for you?" Juliet said.
Shawn grabbed Juliet's waist and kissed her.
Juliet wrapped her arms around Shawn's neck and pulled him closer.
Shawn turned around and pushed Juliet into the wall and Juliet ran her fingers through his hair.
The doorbell rang and Shawn pulled away.
Juliet looked at Shawn and smiled.
"Shawn, you never told me your answer." Juliet said.
"Baby, it's working out perfectly." Shawn said.
Juliet smiled and went and grabbed the door.
Juliet opened the door and found Lauren and Luke standing there.
"Hello." Juliet said.
"Hey. How was he?" Lauren asked.
"He was perfect. Come on in."
Luke and Lauren made their way into Shawn and Juliet's house and went and sat on the couch.
Shawn came down the hallway carrying a sleeping Michael.
"Hey Shawn." Lauren said.
"Hey Lauren. How are you?" Shawn asked.
"Good. How was he?"
"He was the first baby I've ever babysat before, I guess perfect. Whatever Jules told you."
Luke laughed.
Luke got up and went and grabbed Michael from Shawn.
"Juliet tells me you two are expecting a little Spencer." Luke said.
"Yep. We found out a few days before our wedding." Shawn said.
Juliet came down the hall with Michael's diaper bag on her shoulder.
"So you two literally just found out." Lauren said.
Juliet caught the conversation, "Yeah, we've known for about a week now."
"How do you feel about becoming a mom?"
Juliet sat down next to Shawn on the couch and curled up to him, "Honestly, I'm excited."
"Shawn?"
"You know, I'm excited. Never thought I would ever say that." Shawn said.
"Why not?"
"I was never the type to settle down. I was always on my motorcycle riding around the country."
"What made you stick around?"
"This little blonde right here."
"She must be really special."
"Oh she is."
Juliet smiled.
"Luke, were you excited to become a dad?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah. I've always dreamed of having my own family and now I got it." Luke said.
"When did you two get married?"
"3 years ago."
Shawn turned to Juliet, "Jules, you think we can make it to 3 years?"
"Oh we better." Juliet said.
"I know, I'm never letting you go, so get used to me."
"I've lived with you for 7 months."
"Point."
"Well guys, I hate to run out on you guys like this, but I am tired and Michael needs to eat." Lauren said.
Shawn and Juliet got up and walked their guests to the door.
"Lauren, don't be afraid to call us to watch him again. He was a perfect little angel baby." Juliet said.
"Thank you. Call me later and we can discuss plans for this week."
"I'll be out of the country starting Thursday of next week."
"Where are you going?"
"We're going on our honeymoon, to Canada."
"Why later?"
"We want to spend Christmas with our families."
"That's sweet. You guys have a good time and Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas."
Lauren and Luke walked out and Juliet shut the door and locked it.
"Well Mr. Spencer, I am going to take a shower, will I be expecting any company?" Juliet asked.
Shawn stepped closer and started to unbutton his shirt, "I don't know maybe."
"Well let me help you make up your mind."
Juliet got in front of Shawn and unzipped her dress and let it pool in the middle of the living room floor. She started to walk off and Shawn ran after her and shut the door.
