Hello! And welcome back to the story where I own nothing except my stuff! And my stuff does not include Yu-Gi-Oh! GX!

15 Years Later:

A dark gray helicopter is seen flying over the heights over Domino City. The chopper is proceeding at a leisurely pace with the assistant who hasn't aged a day, Croquet, at the helm.

"Young Master Pegasus, we are a few minutes away from the testing center." Croquet calls out on his headset.

"Master Pegasus?" He repeats as he turns around. When he looks behind his chair he sighs at what he sees.

In the back seats of the chopper is a 15 year old boy with grey and silver hair. His hair grows more voluminous on top, rather than in length and some of his bangs partially cover his left eye. His current attire is rather plain for someone of his status. He wears a gray T-shirt with the Industrial Illusions logo on it with an open black button up long-sleeved shirt over that. His lower attire is a simple pair of blue jeans and tennis shoes that are black and blue with velcro. One of the most important things about this young man are his eyes however. Although you can't see them because…

(AN: For his hairstyle, think like Kaiba's but a different color, shaggier, and some of his bangs partially cover his left eye. You can still see it just fine, it's only about halfway covered.)

*Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…snrk…zzzzzzz….*

He's asleep…

Croquet shakes his head and brings the microphone on his headset closer to his face. He breathes in deep.

"MAXIMILLIAN PEGASUS!" And yells into the mic.

"GYAH OH MY GOD!"

A pair of gold and blue eyes shot open and the teen reached for his headset and threw them off his head as fast as he could.

"Ow…" He began to rub his ears to try and alleviate the pain. His next action was to glare at his family's assistant/butler who was now smirking at him.

"What the hell, Croquet?! I told you I was going to take a nap for our SEVERAL HOUR TRIP!"

All Croquet did was continue to grin at him and then point to his headset on the floor. Max sighed and put it back on.

"What?"

The pilot turned back around now.

"You shouldn't have stayed up so late, young master."

"I wouldn't have stayed up so late if dad didn't make me stay up to beta test the new cards we made. Wait a sec…" He then angrily pointed at his pilot. "You were there! You were refereeing the duel the entire time, so you know how late I was up!"

Crouquet tried to control his laughter and succeeded. *Ahem* "We'll be at the testing center in a few minutes. Do your best to prepare."

Max dropped his finger with a heavy sigh and leaned back in his chair.

Hehehe!

Laughter could be heard to his left. However, he didn't make any movement of surprise or even notice.

Really Mom? You too?

The familiar spiritual form of Cecilia Pegasus appeared in the seat next to him with a hand trying to stifle her giggles and failing.

I'm sorry, but it was really funny! She then pointed an accusatory finger at her son. And don't blame your father on keeping you up. He let you go with just enough time for a good night's sleep. You just stayed up and kept second-guessing which decks you should bring with you. If it wasn't for me you would've had less sleep!

*Sigh* Alright, ya got me. I mean I'm just so excited that my journey to be the best starts here with going to Duel Academy.

But you haven't even been accepted yet.

Max looks at her deadpanned. Do you really think I'm not going to pass today?

She snickers and waves a hand in front of her face. Oh goodness no. You're going to destroy whatever instructor they give you hands down. I'm just saying is all.

She straightens up and regards her son with a smile. Now, are you all prepared?

Yep.

Got your decks?

He pats the four deck boxes on his waist.

Lucky die?

Pats his right pant pocket.

Brand new duel disk that only does one kinda cool thing?

Shakes his backpack. You know, Mokuba went through a lot to get this to me for an early present this year. He even had to sneak it by his big brother, which is almost impossible.

Well, I'm more surprised he did it. You two aren't exactly friends. Every time you do something for him, or he does something for you, he kind of turns into a tsundere and just leaves…

Max puts a finger to his chin in thought. Hmm… Yeah, well maybe this was to make up for it…? He shakes his head with a smile. Heheh nevermind. What's next?

Wallet with all the information that proves you are who you say you are?

He smacks his left pocket and sighs. Seriously! How do people not know who I am? I have the same unique hair color as my dad and go to important meetings at the company. It's not like I'm some big kept secret.

I know. I know. And their lives will be riddled with horror whenever they come across us again.

Haha! Yeah, I'm thinking of the "Haunted Elevator" next time.

Okay! Now… *Ahem* Do you have your super awesome ghost mom, who could do no wrong?! She yells out enthusiastically.

*Bop*

Max lightly karate chops his mom on the head.

Owie. She pouts.

Check. Although I don't know if I actually have one of those or not. He smirks at her.

Meanie. She immaturely sticks her tongue out at him, but it immediately goes back in when she smiles again. Okay, so that should be every-

"Um, sir? What are you doing?" The only other person in the chopper cuts her off.

Croquet looks through the rearview mirror at the strange scene behind him.

Instead of having Max quickly pull his arm back, she lets his arm phase through her so he can casually let it rest on the bench.

"Swatted a fly." Said Max with a straight face.

"With a karate chop?"

"Yeah. All great masters do that, don't you know?"

Croquet just dismisses the kid's strange response. He fondly shakes his head grinning. Seriously, how did he become only slightly stranger than his father? I swear he must have genetically gotten it from his mother somehow. He lets out a light chuckle and then clears his throat. "Anyway, sir. We'll be landing in a moment."

"Awesome!" Max and Cecilia's eyes gain stars to them and they immediately stick their faces to the windows. They breathe in deep with excitement as they see they're approaching the giant blue dome that is the testing center with a surprisingly empty parking lot. Seriously, there's no line of students anywhere.

Max and Cecilia look at each other and smirk.

""Let the games begin!"" They both exclaim as they begin their descent.

In the empty parking lot, an average looking guard, at least for expensive venues like this, was watching the descending helicopter. This man has black hair that is swept back and spiky on the sides. He wore an average black suit and blue tie with shades that may have been the same brand that Croquet uses.

It's about time another examinee showed up. I was wondering if the rest that signed would end up as no-shows. He turns to the two women in white, orange, and brown proctor uniforms. "Do you have the guest list this time?" He spoke to them in a rather snobbish accent that betrays how serious he looks. (AN: Go to GX episode 1 Eng Dub at 3:13. That's him and his voice.)

""Yes, sir"" Both of the proctors nod and one of them holds up the list.

"Very good. Now, let us see if this rich kid is all talk or not."

The helicopter lands and Croquet turns around. "Do you need anything of me, or should I wait in here, sir?"

"No, I'll take it from here. Thanks for the lift Croquet!" Max opens the side door and hops out. Now that he's outside, he stands up to his surprising height of about 6 feet despite his age.

As he closes the door, he faintly here's jazz music playing from the inside.

Huh. I never pictured him as a jazz fan.

Maybe we should get him some vinyl albums for Christmas this year?

He shakes his head to focus back on today's events. He spots the awaiting examiners and walks up to them.

"Afternoon! I'm here for the entrance exam."

"What's your name, boy?" asks Pompous Guard Man #5.

"Maximillian Pegasus, sir"

"Uh huh sure." He scoffs. "And I'm Seto Kaiba."

One of the girls looks at her clipboard. "Um, sir? He really is-" She begins to speak but is cut off by a heavy sigh from the tall teen.

"Look… I'm wearing the Industrial Illusions special employee t-shirt." He lazily points to his inner shirt with the company logo. "My hair color is the exact same as my father, who I'm obviously named after." He points to his hair. "And finally." He pulls out his wallet and opens it revealing several different kinds of ID. "Here's my wallet with my name spelled out several times on my ID cards. Maximillian. James. Pegasus. JR!" He says with a tick mark at the end.

Cecilia places her hand on his shoulder and his tension immediately leaves him. Calm down sweetie. He's just a moron, he isn't worth seeing after today.

Max snickers lightly, but keeps it hidden.

"Alright, alright! You're you! Sheesh…" Pompous Entrance Man #46 sweatdrops. "Just follow me into the side entrance where you will wait to be examined. Oh, and here is your exam number." He hands him a piece of paper and starts to walk to the door on the side of the dome.

Max follows him and looks at the paper that says: Examinee 119670. As they get to the door, the guard doesn't even wait for him and just keeps walking inside. Max hurries to catch up and opens the door revealing a long tunnel with a few doors lined up along the way. At the end of the tunnel is a bright area where there are sounds of excitement and explosions going off.

"Most likely the duel arena."He hums to himself.

Pompous Walking Man #B52 turns around suddenly and addresses Max with a slight sneer. "Okay, kid. Go down to the end of the tunnel and wait until your number is called. He doesn't wait for a reply as he opens a door to his right and walks through it, locking it behind him.

What a jerk.

Yep.

They continue their way down the tunnel and the voices got louder the closer they got to the light. When they arrived at the end, a pretty cool sight was before them. The inside of the dome had thousands of seats all around the arena with different levels for people to watch from. In the arena itself, there were four separate dueling fields, however violet walls prevented the test takers from seeing the other duels going on at the same time to prevent cheating.

Man, this place is actually bigger than I thought it'd be. Then again this place is literally just a giant dome in the mountains, so it'd have to be massive.

Max steps out of the tunnel a little bit and starts to look into the stands. Now let's see if there's anyone familiar yet. Obviously, Jaden hasn't arrived cause he's the last duelist. But let's see…

Looking up and around, there aren't that many seats filled in. Probably because it's the final hour of testing and people don't want to watch the "slackers". Looking up and to the left Max spots several purple teaching assistant uniforms that are worn by the proctors that duel the newbies. And sitting in the center of them is a tall, blonde…lady? Wearing a self-satisfied sneer and a blue uniform with pink frills all over.

Ah! There's Dr. Crowler. Man, he really is hard to look at and hard to tell that he's actually a He.

He's kinda creepy looking. Like a duelist version of my dad's mom, Verruca. Cecilia shudders. Ugh! She always wore this yellow lipstick and I swear she had one too many teeth for such a tiny mouth.

Mom! I don't need that imagery! Looking at Crowler's purple lips for four years is bad enough!

Hehe. Sorry… She rubs the back of her head apologetically.

Now, is there anyone else here? He keeps looking around but doesn't spot anyone else of importance. Where are the Obelisks standing…?

Oh! He looks up at the ceiling. They must be up above us. I wonder how they'll like my dueling?

"Number 119670, please report to testing field 2. I repeat. Number 119670, please report to testing field 2. Thank you…" A rather nasally voice calls out on the intercom.

Only one way to find out! Cecilia floats on ahead to the red walls a little down the way and to the right. She nods her head and phases through the wall.

Guess she found it. Max looks back into the tunnel and finds a door with the number 2 on it and heads inside.

In the Obelisk Stands:

"Ugggghhhh…" A girl with short brown hair that spiked out at the end, groaned out in boredom. She was leaning against the safety bars at the edge of the platform they were on, looking down at the different duels with unimpressed brown eyes. This is Jasmine Connors, as a first year Obelisk Blue student, she wore the standard Obelisk white and blue girl's uniform. Unfortunately, right now she didn't know what was more boring. Shopping with her friend Mindy or watching these very simple duels.

"What's wrong Jasmine?" She turned to the girl to her left, who was also leaning against the railing. She had lighter brown hair than Jasmine, but it was much longer and went down her back. She also wore the standard girl's uniform. This was her friend Alexis Rhodes, the one who convinced her to come to the testing today at the hope of seeing a good duel and learning from it.

"What's wrong?" Jasmine repeated. "What's right? Most of the duels we've seen for the last hour have been the same thing over and over again. And I don't know how good your hearing is, but there are some phrases that keep getting repeated over and over again. I swear if I hear another multiple-choice question today I'll pay for Mindy on her next shopping spree!"

"Is it that bad?" Her friend replies.

"She's not wrong."

The girls look behind them and spot their normally silent companion. He was tall with dark blueish-green hair and blue eyes. His hair was a little long and spiky at the ends, with a few bangs coming down his forehead. He didn't wear the standard Obelisk Blue boy's uniform. His outfit was mostly white, outlined with blue rather than mostly blue, outlined with white. This was Zane Truesdale. The supposed strongest duelist in Duel Academy.

"Most of the proctors haven't been taking this seriously and are just looking to intimidate the new candidates. Probably to avoid getting more Slifer Reds than they want."

"Wow," Alexis sighed. "I didn't think they would stoop this low." She stands up off the rail and stretches. "Welp, maybe we'll finally see something interesting happen in the last bit," She points out to the second arena. "Here comes a new one."

As Jasmine turned her attention, she saw that the elevator platform for the guest duelist was beginning to rise. When she caught a glimpse of silverish hair, she let out a breathy sigh of relief.

"Thank God! It's not another bland brunette!"

Alexis merely raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"Oh don't give me that," She snapped back. "There have been so many bland brunettes throughout the whole exam. It's about time that someone that at least looks interesting showed up." She turned to their male companion. "Zane you get what I mean right?"

Zane merely grunts in response, not actually answering.

"See. He gets it," She says, turning her attention back to the fully revealed silver-haired teen.

Max gazed around wide-eyed at being watched by so many people, even thought the stands were mostly empty. He turned to his left seeing his mother giggling.

Nervous, sweetie?

A little. He smacked his face to focus. "I mean if you were home schooled in academics and dueling for most of your life and then your suddenly in your first big dueling arena with people watching you take a test, it's a little frazzling.

Well, I wouldn't be caught dead doing anything like this. Her eyes then lit up in realization and she looked down at herself and begins to snicker. Actually, maybe I already have! Hehehe!

Smooth Mom… He began to walk over to the wall closest to him and put his ear against it. To pass the time, let's see how these other duels are sounding.

He could hear a monster being summoned and then a man's voice speaking out. "Okay, kid. Time for a multiple-choice question. You're up against two monsters. Now, do you A: Throw in the towel? B: Beg for mercy? Or C: Go home crying to Momma?"

Then a nasally voice spoke in defiance. "I choose D! None of the above!" He sounded very proud of his one-liner.

Umm… wow. Max backs away, clearly unimpressed. Dad always says to be sure to give good banter between you and your foe, but that was just way too obvious. He makes his way to the other side. Let's see how another one is faring.

This time it was a woman speaking. "Okay, sugah! Time for a quiz! You have two monsters looking to get ya! Do you A: Throw in the towel? B: Beg for mercy? Or C: Go home crying to Mommy?"

Her opponent sounded like a heavyset boy due to his low voice. "I'm going to have to go with none of the above, lady!" He also sounded assured that his one-liner stuck.

Max backed away from the wall in sheer horror. Oh God… Please don't let it be true… He looked behind him. Mom? Mom, where'd you go?

I'm here… Came the dejected wail only a ghost could make as she phased through the wall right next to him. Max would've normally been startled by this, but he's dealt with it for his whole life. It's the same in the last arena too… Two monsters… Multiple choice… D NONE OF THE ABOVE! She shrieks and begins to shake her son in a crazed manner. WHAT KIND OF PLACE IS THIS?!

Max is clearly unphased by this and removes her trembling hands from his shoulders and begins to walk to his side of the field. Mom. Calm down please. This is probably some idiot's script to make the test seem intimidating, while also raising the "Best new students" confidence and/or ego. The question is who's the moron that thought this up?

*ACHOO!*

In the teacher's stand, a certain blonde professor sneezes. After blowing his nose, he looks down at the arenas feeling smug and proud. There we go. This brilliant script I came up with makes it easier to lessen the Slifer slackers we obtain and makes the tests go by much faster. I'm so happy with my decision to push this forward. Almost as happy as when I discovered this new lovely shade of lip gloss!

Although, I think I know who the moron is… As Max is about to turn to look at said moron, he's interrupted by his opponent's elevator finally activating.

"Well, well, well." A familiar snobbish tone reeks through the elevator shaft.

Oh, damn it…

Yes, indeed. Because rising from the pits of the stadium to the opponent's side of the field was the familiar form of Pompous Mystery Man #12. But this time he wore the purple proctor's uniform. Honestly, there's so much to the outfit that maybe he took so long changing?

So… Pompous Entrance Man #5 was actually Pompous Proctor Man #69 in disguise. Max jokes in his head.

The fiend! Cecilia plays along as her eyes "burn with hatred".

"I hope your feeling lucky, boy because you'll need it." He said with a sneer.

"Yeah, yeah. Just give me a sec." Max set down his backpack and opened it up to pull out a-

"Wait, where did you get an academy duel disk?" Questioned Pompous Question Man #? "You aren't a student."

Max attaches the duel disk to his arm and then scratches his cheek sheepishly. "Well a… do I call him a friend? Yeah sure, a friend of mine got me one as a present and made a cool prototype out of it." He then reached into his right jean pocket and pulls out a golden Egyptian style four-sided die.

Which deck am I using today? He wonders as he tosses it up.

*Klak klak klak*

It lands on the ground and rolls a couple times before landing on…

4

Max grins. Okay, looks like my Twilight deck will be my debut for the academy. He reaches into one of his belt deck boxes and slaps the deck into his duel disk, activating it. The sides of the duel disk, that are normally light gray, immediately begin to glow a dark faded yellow-orange color. (AN: Think the color of Twilight in LoZ: Twilight Princess.)

"Alright now." He confirms his disk is in working order then smirks to his tester.

""Let's Duel!/Duel!"" Max shouted in excitement, while the proctor merely shouted in courtesy.

GO!

First Turn:

"First, we need to test your response," Pompous Testing Man #1412 smirked to his opponent. "My draw!" He drew his card and his smirk grew into a grin.

"First, I'll place a card face-down." He set a card into his duel disk face-down. The moment he did that, a larger version of the face-down card appeared in front of him.

"Next, I summon Big Shield Gardna in defense mode!"

A large, tan muscular man with long black hair appeared in front of him, kneeling down while holding a large bronze and purple shield in front of him.

WHY DIDN'T HE PLAY THAT IN FACE DOWN POSITION?! Max inwardly yelled at his opponents stupidity. That card is meant to be played face-down! It basically says it should be played face-down in its effect!

"Well? Are you quaking in your boots yet?" His opponent's snobby tone breaks him from his thoughts.

"Um…no?"

"Well, no matter," He played a card in his Spell/Trap card zone. "Because you will be after I play this! The spell card Black Luster Ritual!"

An altar with two braziers lit with fire appeared. In the center of the altar was a black and silver shield with two swords crossed in front of it.

Black Luster Ritual

This card is used to Ritual Summon "Black Luster Soldier". You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal 8 or more.

"And now, I tribute my Dark Blade and Command Knight from my hand," He sends the two cards from his hand to the graveyard. The shield and swords begin to glow a brilliant white. "And with that, I Ritual Summon Black Luster Soldier!"

The light flashes bright causing Max and Cecilia to avert their eyes. Once the light faded, they looked back and saw the monster in the altar's place.

The monster was a tall, slender man with red eyes and slightly greenish skin. He wore armor that was black and gold with slightly demonic features. In his hands he carried a sharp sabre and a gold and black shield. The soldier swiped down his blade, signaling his willingness to fight.

"Not to mention that a face-down was also played, which is definitely a Trap card." Alexis chimed in.

"Hm." Zane merely grunts while watching.

"Time for a little pop-quiz, boy." Pompous Quiz Man #XYZ& starts.

No… he isn't…

"Multiple choice."

He couldn't be…

"You have two powerful monsters ready to crush you."

No no no!/Oh God! Please no! The two victims of the script scream in their heads.

"Do you A: Throw in the towel?"

AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH!/AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHH! They mentally scream, accepting their fate.

"B: Beg for it to stop?"

*BANG*

*BANG*

Somewhere in the Obelisk bleachers, a poor brunette can be heard banging her head against the steel railing.

"Or C: Run home crying to your mommy?" He finally finishes.

Max and Cecilia say nothing in response. Cecilia starts to seethe a little bit and if people could see her, they would notice steam coming out her ears. She clenches her fists and throws her head back.

I'M DEAD, YOU BUTTHEAD! She screams out to the unaware jerk. AND THAT'S PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE! LEARN SOME TACT AND IMPROVISE YOUR STUPID SCRIPT WHEN YOU SHOULD! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!

Whoa, Mom! Calm down! Max is taken aback by her sudden outburst but makes no attempt to respond to her or people will start to think he's crazy. He's just a jackass that we won't see again after this. It's okay!

Cecilia wasn't having it. Nope! Let me at him! Summon one of my fusions! I want to smash his Life Points to zero!

Max doesn't respond and draws his card while contemplating his first move. He looks at the card he just drew and snickers. He looks to his mom with an eager grin.

Actually, I think I'll just let the Big Guy take care of him.

Ugh, fine. She relents. Her smile returns and she throws a fist in the air. Just show them what you're made of!

You got it! Max responded with determination.

"Um… are you going to say something?" His opponent called out to him. Max was silent for over a minute after he was given his share of the script. This wasn't how it was supposed to go!

"You know what," Max says back. "I'm gonna go with answers O, T, and K!"

"O, T, K?"

His eyes light up in recognition behind his shades. "What?! That's outrageous!"

"Hope you give me extra credit, cause I normally don't like doing these. I like a duel where both duelists show what their made of. Not one to see who can win the fastest." Max sighs. "But to be honest, you're really not the kind of guy I like to test myself against."

"So, without further ado! I play Foolish Burial!"

"With this I can send one monster from my deck to the Graveyard."

"Finally," Jasmine suddenly shouts out. "A card that hasn't been played over and over today!"

"Seriously," Alexis sighs. "Even Black Luster Soldier has been played twice before this duel."

Zane grunts.

"And the card I sent to the Graveyard is pretty cool."

"Pretty cool?" Pompous Repeating Man #Error repeats as his name states.

"Yep!" Max grins. "Normally, he can't be Normal or Set summoned. But he can be special summoned."

"How are you Special Summoning him?"

"When he's sent from the deck to the Graveyard, he can be Special Summoned obviously! So come on out Wulf, Lightsworn Beast in ATK mode!"

A white furred wolf man clad in white and gold armor carrying a trident appeared. On his gauntlets were claws made of light magic.

"Lightsworns are a rare archetype of monster right now," Alexis turns to her friend to explain. "Their effects normally have to deal with having a certain effect and then sending cards from your Deck to the Graveyard. They're pretty tough to handle, but if you know what you're doing then they can play some good combos." She finishes with a satisfied nod.

"I know what they are Lex…" Jasmine deadpans. "I just thought it was interesting that he had one…"

"Oh…" Alexis' face turns red as she pokes her two fingers together.

*Snrk*

Zane surprisingly snickers at this.

"ZANE?!" Alexis immediately turns to Zane in shock, however by the time she turned to face him he had already schooled his features as if nothing happened.

"Unfortunately, he won't be sticking around long. But that's so I can bring out someone bigger!"

He eagerly slides a card into his Spell/Trap zone.

"I activate Double Summon!"

"This card's a little self-explanatory. So! I Tribute Wulf to summon Caius the Shadow Monarch!"

Wulf disappeared in a flash of light, but the shadows where he once stood began to rise. The shadows rose until they formed into a large humanoid figure. The shadows melted away to reveal a large dark grey armored man. His helmet was black with red glowing eyes and two horns. His gauntlets had red clawed tips added to the fingers. And to finish his look was a shredded black cape.

In a lower part of the Obelisk section of the dome where the comfier seats were. A teenage boy with large spiky black hair and the normal Obelisk Blue uniform was currently snoozing.

He jolted up, his black eyes flaring in annoyance, when he felt a nudge to his left side.

"What?" He scathingly asked. He was having a good nap, damn it.

"Well Chazz," replied a horrible sounding southern accent from the glasses wearing, blue-haired Obelisk with a crappy looking haircut. "You told me to wake ya if somethin interestin happens."

"Yeah, so?"

"Well someone just summoned a rare card." The blue haired extra points towards Duel Field #2.

"So, he's got a Monarch card, big deal." He huffed while crossing his arms.

"Yeah," a dumb voice to his right added in. This one had slightly tanned skin and short brown hair that spiked up. "Chazz has beaten guys with Monarchs before. What makes him so special?"

"Exactly," Chazz ended the conversation with that, and started to watch the duel.

"Now, whenever he's summoned, I get to banish a card on the field."

"What?!" Came the obviously shocked response.

"Yep! And I'm choosing your face-down. Go, Banishing Shade!"

Caius tensed his arms and began to growl. Dark energy began to emerge from underneath the face-down card and swallowed the card whole.

No! My Call of the Haunted!

"Now that your obvious Trap card is gone," Max smirked as his foe grit his teeth. "How's about we continue the effect of Double Summon? Because, even though he just came out, I think it's time to upgrade him."

"Upgrade?"

"Yep! Like so! I tribute Caius the Shadow Monarch to bring out his stronger form. Caius the Mega Monarch!"

Mega Monarch?! Those watching the duel were shocked.

The shadows erupted from beneath Caius and swallowed him. However, Caius made no move against it. His form began to grow in the darkness. His silhouette began to grow larger horns and spikes where the elbows in his armor should be. The arms in the shadows started to grow bulkier as well. When the shadows finally receded, they did not return to the floor. Instead they retreated to Caius' back to form into his new cape.

In stores next Friday kids! Cecilia shouted out to the stands even though no one could hear her.

"Now," Max started. "Normally I need two monsters to Tribute Summon him, but since I Tributed a Tribute Summoned monster, I only need one. But that's not the kicker. Do you remember what the other Caius' effect was?" He asked with a big grin on his face.

"He banished a card!" Pompous Gasping Man #-200 gasped out.

"That's right," Max nods. "He gets this effect too. But! When he uses it, you take 1000 damage!"

"Damn!"

"And I'm still not at the kicker yet, mister!"

"What is it then?" He growls out.

"When Caius the Mega Monarch is Tribute Summoned by using a Dark monster…" Pause for effect. "He can use this effect twice!"

"WHAT?!"

"That's right! Now, take this! Shade Shatter!"

Caius merely waves his giant hand and the shadows from his cape rush to cover and destroy the enemy monsters. The monsters shatter like glass, like the effect normally is for Duel Monster holograms being destroyed. But the shards stayed and turned black before aiming and shooting themselves at their owner.

"Time to explain my work for your lame quiz!"

Bye-bye~! Cecilia waves at the man.

"Take him out Caius with Claws of the Shade!"

The shadows of the cape begin to travel up and merge with Caius' gauntlets. The shadows billowed out like flames and extended into vicious claws. He then charged towards the enemy and lashed out at him!

Max WINS!

"Hmph!" Max swipes his thumb across his nose and he gets a sudden idea. Cecilia catches on to it and stands(floats) back to back with him. They point to the fallen foe with two fingers and shout out with no shame:

"Gotcha!/Gotcha!"

Hey guys! Man I did not expect this story to be doing this well! Well at least for me and my standards hahaha! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed Max's entrance exam and the first duel of the story. I would like to thank bopdog111 because I asked them if I could use their dueling format for the story and they said that I didn't even need to ask, but still thank you!

I had a lot of fun writing this chapter! There will definitely be weird funny moments throughout the story. My sense of humor is all over the place, so Max and Cecilia's will be too. I hope you guys continue to leave me comments and reviews. I've been taking in a lot of your guy's words into consideration. It's also why I was inspired to write this so fast. So, once again. Thank You!

So, next time we will pick up at the conclusion of the exam and then get to Duel Academy. I would have put the conclusion in here, but I didn't want to cram too much in here because I don't know how long it will take for Max to leave.

I also hope you guys enjoyed the reference to the Eng Sub Jaden's cathphrase. I thought it was a little ironically funny cause a lot of the stuff I'm writing this off of is the dub. Speaking of which, I will be doing mostly dub stuff, yes. However! If there is something that's just bad, then I will put in stuff from the original sub.

Alright, see you guys next time! Whenever that is cause I need to rewatch some episodes and get to writing notes! FAREWELL!

Oh wait let's get to them comments/reviews!

Jack797: Dude you've been awesome and keep making my day! Now, Max's cards are all from the actual TCG. He has four different decks and I can't wait to show them off. They are all decks that I own. They may not be good, but hey we're here to have fun! Keep being awesome my dude and I hope you like Konosuba!

clank2662: Thank you!

Legionstone: Hey, so you were actually my inspiration to bring this chapter out faster. You were right about it feeling a little fillery. I had like maybe two more chapters before we got here, but I was like "Man! I just want to get to the GX stuff already!" So thanks for reminding that flashback and backstory segments exist lol! I hope to keep improving as we go through this stuff! Thanks again!

Jack Bros: He's only given his original deck, an obvious magical thing, and his mother's spirit. I'm drawing a bit of this from Konosuba because when you get reincarnated in that you get a special weapon or power. So, I wanted to throw some stuff in. I wanted my favorite deck in the story and I wanted it to be his first deck. The other things are only just to add some cool and fun stuff that I'd like to experiment with, such as having fun with Cecilia's nutty personality in this story lol! But hey hope that helps a little!

deku rose: Okay dude, first off! You've been saying some cool things and I can't thank you enough for that! It freakin warms my heart and I feel all sappy and stuff lol! But hey let's get into the other stuff! I'm actually thinking about a Dark Magician deck for Arc V because I've changed one of the decks in this story a little bit. And when it comes to the pairing for the OC it will either be Yuzu because I want to improve on her as a duelist and a character. And also everyone has the OCs with Serena. The other option is a bracelet girl harem, which I have a good reason story-wise to make that a thing. Also I would want to vastly improve on her Synchro and Xyz counterparts. Once again! Thank you so much!

Finshadow212th: Dude, you are so close in some parts I'm actually wondering if you've somehow seen all of my notes hahaha! As you can see Max does have 1 type of Monarch card, however Caius will be the only one. And I like trying to put my own spin on lesser cared for archetypes. I hope you enjoy what I came up with!

kirashu: Thanks for being curious!

johnnymike98: Thanks a lot for being curious as well! Also, I will have some parts where we will see how Pegasus originally reacts to Cecilia's spirit. And I'm looking forward to when we get there.

Ayayacchi: Thanks for the tip. I'm still figuring out my way of writing. I think I'll try turning the AN's into numbered foot notes next time. Also I hope this story's first duel was to your liking!

Zet4: Man, you popped up as I was typing these responses out hahaha! So, Max will basically have the main plot and some filler of GX down. He will know about important characters from the other seasons, at least the important ones I remember, like Jessie, Aster, Sartorius, and Yubel. I do not remember every character or there decks, so when Max duels someone that I don't know, my research is basically going to be me sort of dueling them myself, just with Max or any other character's decks that I will use. Also there will be characters he won't know much about but he'll recognize them. Like "Hey! It's the Australian with the Gator!"

THANKS AGAIN SO MUCH YOU GUYS!
