3 Months Until Baby Day
Sunday Morning at the Spencer House
It was 10:30 on a Sunday morning and Shawn was on his computer looking at baby things.
Juliet got up 15 minutes later and saw Shawn on a baby furniture site.
"Good morning." Juliet whispered.
Shawn smiled and leaned into Juliet and kissed her on her head, "Good morning. How are you?"
"Eh. What are you doing?"
"We need furniture for her room."
"Do you want to do that today?"
"How are you feeling today?"
"Good."
"Then yeah, we can go get some furniture. Did you put together the registry?"
"Yeah. I sent out invitations yesterday."
"When is the baby shower?"
"Next month."
"Is that enough time?"
"Yeah."
Shawn nodded.
Juliet went over to the cupboard and grabbed a glass and filled it with water.
"What time do you want to go?" Juliet asked.
"An hour?" Shawn suggested.
"That's fine. I'm going to go shower right quick then."
Shawn nodded.
Juliet walked over to Shawn and gave him a hug, "I love you."
"I love you too. We got the room painted now we just need to fill it up with furniture."
"It's getting real isn't baby?"
"Yeah. I'm excited but nervous."
"I'm excited. I'm excited to see us be parents to this little peanut."
Shawn kissed Juliet and then Juliet went off and took a shower.
30 minutes later Shawn saved the list of things to his phone and went and got dressed.
As soon as Shawn walked in the bedroom, Juliet walked out of the bathroom with her hair in curls and a sun dress.
"You look beautiful." Shawn said.
"Thank you." Juliet said.
"When did you get that?"
"A few weeks ago."
"Is that the shopping trip that you and my mother went on and y'all kept everything from me?"
"That's the one."
Shawn nodded and began to get dressed.
Shawn got dressed and then walked into the living room and saw Juliet on her phone.
"Ready sweetie?" Shawn asked.
Juliet got up and slipped on her sandals and grabbed her purse and then followed Shawn.
Shawn locked the door and then went and got in the car.
They both got in the car and Shawn drove them to the baby store.
"So the only clothes she has were the ones my mom has bought." Shawn said.
"Ok. Let's get her a few more things then." Juliet said.
Shawn nodded.
Shawn pulled into the parking lot and parked close to the door. He got out and ran to open up Juliet's door.
"Shawn, I can get out of the car myself." Juliet said.
"I know. I just love helping you." Shawn said.
"Aww how cute."
Shawn smiled.
Shawn grabbed the shopping cart and they walked inside the store.
"Welcome to Baby Depot, how can I help you?" an associate asked.
"We are here to buy furniture for our baby." Shawn said.
"Well follow me and I will help you guys out."
"Thank you."
Shawn and Juliet followed the associate to the baby furniture aisle.
"What do you guys need to get?" the associate asked.
"A crib, a crib mattress, bedding, chasing table, a dresser, and a rocking chair?" Shawn asked Juliet.
"That and we need something for her to sleep in when she's in our room." Juliet added.
Shawn turned to the associate, "Ok Scott, is it?"
Scott nodded.
"White or wooden crib?" Shawn asked.
"White. All white furniture." Juliet said.
"I guess we're going with the color white."
Shawn listed everything he needed and Juliet wandered off to the baby clothes section.
Scott put everything Shawn picked out in his shopping cart and Shawn followed him back up to the desk.
"Do you mind if I back up and get close to the door?" Shawn asked.
"You sure can." Scott said.
Shawn left the store for a quick minute to back up to the entrance.
Shawn walked back in and saw Juliet going through clothes.
"Hey." Shawn said.
"Hey. You got everything?" Juliet asked.
Shawn nodded, "What are you doing over here?"
"Just looking. I found a few cute outfits for her."
"Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah."
"Then grabbed the outfits you want and then let's go check out."
Juliet grabbed the outfits she had picked and followed Shawn up to the front counter.
"Did you find everything ok?" the cashier asked.
"We sure did." Juliet said.
"Ok. Let me ring you guys up."
The cashier rang up everything.
"Ok, guys your total is $750." the cashier said.
"Wow, a bargain." Shawn said.
The cashier smiled.
"Do you mind I go load up and my wife stays here and pay?" Shawn asked.
"You can go." the cashier said.
Shawn turned and looked at Juliet, "Sweetie, are you ok with that?"
"Yeah, go get this stuff loaded up." Juliet said.
Shawn rolled the shopping cart to his car and started loading it up.
A few seconds later, Juliet came outside of the store and got in the car and turned it on.
Shawn put the last box in the car and closed the back of it up. He put the shopping cart back where it went and got in the car.
"Wow." Shawn said.
"What?" Juliet asked.
"We just got our baby furniture."
Juliet smiled, "We did. Let's go home."
Shawn nodded.
Shawn drove home and parked outside of the garage and unloaded the car going through the front door.
Juliet went in first and opened the door for Shawn and then turned on the light for the baby's room.
Juliet went back outside and talked to Shawn.
"Go inside." Shawn said.
"Chill out. I'm not going to pick anything up. I have an idea." Juliet said.
"Ok, elaborate for me, Jules."
"Unload the boxes and put them in the extra bedroom next to the baby's and then start setting up one at a time."
"That's smart."
"I know."
"Go inside and sit down."
"Shawn!"
"Jules! I don't want you getting hurt."
Juliet sighed and went inside and sat down.
Shawn unloaded the car and put the crib in the baby's room first and then put the rest of the boxes in the extra bedroom.
Shawn went back outside and pulled into the garage and then shut it.
Juliet heard the alarm beep, "Babe, is that you?"
"Yep." Shawn said.
Shawn walked through the living room and brought Juliet her purse.
"Thank you." Juliet said.
"You're welcome. Your phone is going off like crazy." Shawn mentioned.
Juliet took out her phone and saw 5 missed calls from Maddie.
"Your mom called me." Juliet said.
"Did she leave a voicemail?" Shawn asked.
"No."
"Call her back please just to make sure everything is ok."
Juliet nodded.
Shawn went back to the baby's room and started to set up the crib.
Juliet called Maddie back.
"Hello?" Maddie asked.
"Hey Maddie, is everything ok?" Juliet asked.
"Henry is trying to get in touch with Shawn."
"What's wrong?"
"He didn't say."
"Ok. Is it important? Shawn is putting together baby furniture."
"Why don't you call Henry and ask him, I'm not with him."
"Ok. Thank you."
"Of course. You two have a good rest of your day."
"Thanks Maddie, you too."
Juliet hung up the phone and called Henry.
"Hello?" Henry asked.
"Hey Henry, it's Juliet." Juliet said.
"Well hello. How are you today?"
"Good. Your son is putting together baby furniture as we speak."
"All by himself?"
"We'll see in a few hours."
Henry chuckled.
"Look, Maddie called me and told me that you're trying to get in touch with Shawn. Is everything ok?"
"Do you remember my brother, Jack?"
"Vaguely."
"Well he's back in town."
"Shawn mentioned something about him being obsessed with him."
"Yeah. Since he's back in town I wanted to warn him that he will probably come to your house."
"We never gave anyone our address."
"This is Jack, he can get information in the blink of an eye."
"Well I can arrest him."
"He'll use some lame excuse about wanting to see Shawn."
"Ok, do you want to talk to him?"
"Can I please?"
"Of course."
Juliet got off the couch and went to the baby's room and saw Shawn sitting on the floor with tools in his hand.
"Babe." Juliet said.
Shawn turned around and smiled, "Yes?"
"Your dad needs to talk to you. Sounds important."
"Ok."
Shawn got up off the floor and took Juliet's phone.
"Hey Pops!" Shawn greeted.
"Hey Shawn." Henry said.
"What's going on?"
"Jack is back in town."
"You're lying."
"Afraid not."
"If he comes anywhere near Juliet I will kill him."
Juliet heard that comment and looked Shawn dead in the eye.
"Hold on Pop." Shawn said.
Shawn put the phone down and went over to Juliet, "What?"
"You are not killing anybody." Juliet said.
"Jules if he hurts you or even touches you I will kill him."
"Shawn…"
"Jules, enough."
Juliet leaned back at Shawn's response.
Shawn picked back up the phone.
"Hey." Shawn said.
"Is everything ok?" Henry asked.
"How long is he in town for?"
"6 months."
"Dad, I can't have him around my wife or my child."
"What do you want me to do son?"
"I don't know. You're the former detective figure it out."
"Shawn Spencer!"
"Dad, I don't want to be up Juliet's ass all day trying to protect her."
"Shawn, she's a grown ass woman who carries a gun."
"She may be that, but she's also my wife and the mother of my child."
"You think you know what's best for her?"
"Yeah I do. I keep Juliet's best interests in my heart. Dad, I don't want to fight. It's Sunday and I'm doing baby stuff, I'll call you tomorrow."
"Fine."
Shawn hung up the phone and gave it back to Juliet.
"I'm sorry, Jules." Shawn whispered.
"For what?" Juliet asked.
"Snapping at you. The Jack topic gets me so heated and I don't understand why."
Juliet scooted over and patted the couch cushion so that Shawn would sit next to her.
Shawn sat next to Juliet and grabbed her hands.
"Shawn, it's ok." Juliet said.
"Are you sure?" Shawn mumbled.
"Yes. I know you will do anything for me. But I don't want you to go to jail for killing a man."
"I guess you're right."
"I'm sorry what did you say?"
"I said you're right."
Juliet laughed and pulled Shawn in for a kiss, "I love you, Shawn Spencer. You're going to be wrapped around our little girl's finger when she gets here."
Shawn smiled, "I love you too, Juliet. Oh and by the way, she's not dating until she's 60."
Juliet chuckled, "Go finish setting up the room."
Shawn smiled and kissed Juliet one more time before getting up and finishing the room.
5 PM
It was nearing 5 that evening and Juliet walked down the hall and saw Shawn in the rocking chair fast asleep. She saw the entire room set up and her eyes filled up with tears.
Juliet sighed and Shawn opened his eyes.
Juliet's eyes fell on his and Shawn saw the tears.
"What's wrong?" Shawn asked.
"Nothing. Thank you for putting this together." Juliet said.
Shawn got out of the chair went over to Juliet and stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and put his chin on her shoulder.
Juliet's hands went to her belly and Shawn put his hands on top of hers.
"I'm ready." Juliet whispered.
"I'm ready too." Shawn said.
Juliet tilted her head back to look at Shawn.
Shawn looked down and saw something in Juliet's eyes he's never seen before.
Juliet looked into Shawn's eyes and saw every emotion running through them.
"You're going to be the best daddy in the world." Juliet said.
"How so?" Shawn asked.
"Do you not remember the conversation you had with your dad?"
Shawn smiled.
"If anything, I'll be the best father in the world because I have the love of my life raising this baby right beside me." Shawn said.
Juliet kissed Shawn, "Thank you. Let's go get dinner."
"My pick?"
"Sure."
Shawn and Juliet left the house and went to go eat dinner.
