Juliet's Room
It was 8:30 in the morning on Saturday and Shawn's phone rang.
Shawn jumped out of a dead sleep and answered his phone.
"Hello?" Shawn said groggily.
"Your mom wants to know when you guys are going home." Henry said.
"Dad what time is it?"
"8:30 in the morning."
"Then why are you calling me?"
"Your mother wants to know."
"Dad, I'll call you later."
Shawn hung up the phone and tossed it back on the couch.
Shawn looked up and saw Juliet rubbing her eyes.
"Hey gorgeous." Shawn said.
"Hey you. What did your father want?" Juliet asked.
"He wanted to know when we are going home."
"Why didn't you tell him today?"
"He woke me up."
Juliet laughed.
Shawn stood up and stretched and walked over to Juliet's bed and sat down next to her.
"So are you and the newest Spencer ready to go home?" Shawn asked.
"I am, I can't speak for the little one." Juliet said.
Natalie started to cry and Shawn got up and picked her up.
"Hey Tiny Jules." Shawn whispered.
Shawn put Natalie against his chest and rocked her back and forth. He walked over to Juliet and handed the baby to her.
"Thank you." Juliet said.
Shawn smiled and kissed Juliet.
"I'm going to get dressed and then I'm going to put the stuff in the car." Shawn said.
"Ok. Hopefully discharge papers will be signed when you get back." Juliet said.
There was a knock on the door and Shawn got it.
Shawn opened the door and saw Maryanne.
"Well hello." Shawn said.
Shawn stepped out of the way and let Maryanne in.
Juliet looked up from feeding Natalie and saw her mom.
"Hey mom." Juliet said.
"Hey baby girl. How are you feeling?" Maryanne asked.
"The soreness has gone down a bit."
"That's good. Is this her?"
"Yes it is."
Natalie got done feeding and Juliet burped her.
"Mom, meet Natalie Grace Spencer." Juliet said.
Maryanne sat down next to Juliet and Juliet handed Natalie to Maryanne.
"Wow. She's so tiny." Maryanne said.
"She's a little early, but she wouldn't be a Spencer if she didn't make a grand entrance." Juliet said.
Juliet looked at Shawn and winked.
Shawn slipped into the bathroom and changed quickly. He came out a few minutes later dressed.
"That was fast." Juliet said.
"It was, I'm going to go put the stuff in the car." Shawn said.
Juliet nodded.
Shawn grabbed the bags and opened the door and Dr. Green stepped in with discharge papers.
"Oh good, you're here." Juliet said.
"Ready to go?" Dr. Green asked.
"Beyond ready."
"Ok. Let me check your stitches and then we can get you going."
"Thank God."
Shawn moved out of the room and went to the parking lot. Shawn went to the car and put the stuff in the car and drove the car up to the 6th floor parking garage.
Shawn got to the parking garage and showed the security guard his bracelet and then parked in the waiting spot. He got out of car and grabbed the carseat and went to Juliet's room.
Shawn walked into Juliet's room and saw her in the wheelchair holding Natalie.
"Hey sweetheart." Shawn said.
"Hey. Ready to go?" Juliet asked.
"Yes. Let me put her in her seat."
Shawn put the carseat on the bed and put Natalie in it.
As soon as Shawn put the baby in the seat she started to fuss.
"How are you only 4 days old and spoiled?" Shawn asked.
Juliet laughed, "I think that's the O'Hara in her."
"How much O'Hara can she have?"
"As much as she wants."
Maryanne laughed, "You know grandma would love to meet this little girl."
Juliet looked at Shawn, "Babe, can we go to Miami for the holidays?"
"Of course we can." Shawn said.
Juliet looked at her mom and saw tears in them.
"Mom, we'll talk when we get home ok?" Juliet asked.
"Of course." Maryanne said.
Shawn, Juliet, and Maryanne all went to the parking garage.
Shawn got to the car and put Natalie's seat in her base and went over to Juliet.
"Front or back?" Shawn asked.
"Back please." Juliet said.
Shawn opened the back door and helped Juliet in.
"You ok?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah, just hurting a bit." Juliet answered.
Shawn nodded and kissed Juliet.
Shawn met Maryanne at the front of the car.
"Do you need a ride?" Shawn asked.
"No. I have a rental car." Maryanne said.
"Ok. Are you heading to our house?"
"I am going to get Juliet some ice cream and other stuff."
"You just kicked me out of the favorite spot."
Maryanne laughed, "Well I am her mother."
"But I'm her husband."
Maryanne laughed, "I'll see you later."
Shawn gave Maryanne a hug and then went and got in the car.
Shawn got in the car and turned around and saw Juliet holding Natalie's little hand.
Shawn put the car in drive and drove home.
Shawn pulled into the garage 20 minutes later and helped Juliet get out of the car and into the house.
"Couch or bed?" Shawn asked.
"Couch." Juliet said.
Shawn moved Juliet to the couch and went out to the car and grabbed the baby.
Shawn got the carseat and walked into the house and set her down next to Juliet.
Juliet sat up and took off her shirt and grabbed Natalie and did skin-to-skin.
Shawn walked back in the living room.
"Well damn Jules." Shawn joked.
Juliet laughed, "I love this. Just skin-to-skin."
"I like it too."
"With the baby?"
"No with you."
Maryanne walked through the door and heard Shawn and Juliet's conversation.
Juliet saw her mom walk in, "Oh hey mom. How much did you hear?"
"All of it." Maryanne said.
"Oh joy." Shawn said.
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and squeezed.
"Oh chill you two. You just had a baby." Maryanne said.
"We did, didn't we?" Shawn asked.
"We sure did and she is the best little human ever." Juliet said.
Maryanne moved through the house and put the stuff in the freezer.
Maryanne sat down in the chair across from Shawn and Juliet.
"How's grandma and grandpa?" Juliet asked.
"They are good. It's grandpa's 75th birthday next week." Maryanne said.
"Oh wow."
"They are excited to meet your baby girl."
"I miss them. We may make it down there before the holidays depending on how I feel."
"I've never been to Florida."
"Baby, I think it's high time that you go then."
"I haven't met your brothers."
"You met Ewan."
"Look how well that turned out."
"What happened?" Maryanne asked.
"Ewan got Shawn involved in a military thing. Didn't end well." Juliet said.
"But Bailey, he's a sweetheart. He's the baby of the family and has two kids." Maryanne said.
"I can't wait to meet him." Shawn said.
"How long are you here for mom?" Juliet asked.
"A couple of weeks. Just until you two get settled. Is that ok?" Maryanne asked.
"Yeah, we would love that." Shawn said.
A few seconds later the doorbell rang.
"Who is here?" Juliet asked.
Shawn reached over Juliet and opened the iPad and saw Karen.
"Karen." Shawn said.
"Go get it." Juliet said.
Shawn let go of Juliet and grabbed Natalie out of her seat and went and opened the door.
"Hello, Mr. Spencer." Karen said.
"Hey Karen, how are you?" Shawn asked.
"Good. Is Juliet up?"
"Come on in!" Juliet yelled.
Karen moved Shawn out of the way and went in and sat next to Juliet.
Juliet saw Karen walk in and held out her arms.
Karen jogged over to Juliet and sat down and gave her a hug.
"How you doing, Momma?" Karen asked.
"I'm home, so I'm pretty good." Juliet said.
"Shawn, get in here with that baby." Karen said.
Shawn walked around the corner with his shirt off holding the baby to his chest.
"Look who's doing skin-to-skin." Juliet said.
"Yeah, it's pretty great." Shawn admitted.
Karen got up and held out her arms for the baby.
Shawn reluctantly handed Natalie to Karen and went and sat down next to Juliet.
Juliet looked at Shawn and gave him a kiss.
"You two look exhausted." Karen said.
"Gee, thanks." Juliet said.
"When did she eat last?"
"A few hours ago."
"Feed her quickly and then give her back to me and then you two go take a nap."
"Are you sure?"
"Juliet, feed this child and then go nap with your husband."
"Fine."
Karen handed the baby back to Juliet for her to feed her.
"Hey Maryanne, how are you?" Karen asked.
"Good. We got our first girl granddaughter." Maryanne said.
"First?"
"Yeah, O'Hara's have boys apparently Juliet was a little blessing."
"Now she has her own little blessing."
"What if we have two girls?" Shawn asked.
"Can we focus on this one for just a little while?" Juliet asked.
"Yes."
Juliet fed Natalie for a few more minutes then, burped her.
After Juliet burped Natalie Karen went up to her and grabbed her, "Now go sleep."
Juliet got up and grabbed Shawn's hand and walked to their bedroom.
Shawn shut the door and fell face first into the bed.
Juliet walked over to Shawn and rolled him over.
Shawn opened his eyes and smiled at Juliet, "Hey there."
Juliet got on top of Shawn and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Give me a few months ok and we'll be back to normal."
"Baby take as much time as you need. I am not in any hurry here. I just want to soak up our new family." Shawn said.
"You're the best husband in the world."
"I think you mentioned that once or twice, but I will never get tired of it."
"Like forever?"
"Longer than forever."
Juliet laughed and kissed Shawn.
Shawn moved Juliet and himself up the bed and under the covers.
"I love you. We finally get a chance to sleep. Now go to sleep my little Jules." Shawn whispered.
"I love you too, I'll see you in a couple of hours, you know to feed the little one." Juliet said.
"Sounds good."
Shawn kissed Juliet once more and turned around and went to sleep.
