New Year's Eve

It was 5:30 on New Year's Eve and Juliet was getting her stuff together to turn in to Karen. She walked into Karen's office and handed Karen her work.
"Nice job today." Karen said.
"Thank you." Juliet said.
"Any plans tonight?"
"Nope. Just going home and watching a movie, perhaps have a glass of wine or two."
"That sounds like fun."
"I like my 'Me' time."
Karen laughed, "I understand that. Well you have a lovely night and Happy New Year."
"Happy New Year to you too, Karen. I'll see you on Monday."
"Bye Juliet."
Juliet left Karen's office and went back to her desk to grab her purse and phone.
As Juliet was walking out of the station, she called Shawn.
"Hello?" Shawn asked.
"Hey, you." Juliet said.
"Well hello there. Are you done for the day?"
"I am. I'm leaving now. I'm going to go home and change."
"I'll meet you there."
"You don't have to do that."
"Hush woman. I will see you in 15 minutes."
"See you then."
Juliet hung up the phone and got in her car and drove to her apartment.
Shawn
Shawn left the Psych office and got on his bike and headed to Juliet's apartment.
On the way to Juliet's apartment Shawn stopped at a red light and saw Juliet stop next to him. He flipped open his visor and waved at Juliet.
Juliet saw movement out of her peripheral and looked and saw Shawn. She rolled her eyes and shook her head and took off when the light was green.
Shawn and Juliet pulled into Juliet's apartment parking lot at the same time.
Juliet parked and Shawn parked next to her.
Shawn got off his bike and walked over to Juliet's car and opened her door.
"Hello." Shawn said.
"Hey." Juliet said.
Juliet grabbed her purse and walked inside her apartment with Shawn following.
Shawn shut the door and pulled Juliet back to him and kissed her.
"How was your day?" Shawn whispered.
"Eh." Juliet said.
"Why just eh?"
"I'm tired."
"We don't have to go to my dad's if you don't want to."
"No, we can go. I do want to spend some time with just you though."
"I have a plan. We get there at 6:45 and leave at 9 and come home and spend the rest of New Year's here."
"I would love that."
"Good."
Juliet walked to her bedroom and Shawn followed.
"Is your mom going to be there?" Juliet asked.
"I don't know. I haven't talked to her in a few months." Shawn said.
"So she doesn't know about us?"
"Not at the moment, no."
"Shawn, she's your mother."
"I know that. We just don't talk often."
Juliet walked out her closet with jeans on and flow top.
"You look absolutely gorgeous." Shawn said.
"You think?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. I like the top."
"Do you want to wear it?"
"Thanks for that offer sweetheart, but I'll pass."
Juliet walked to her bathroom to touch up her makeup and fix her hair. She turned around and saw Shawn waiting on the bed. She walked over to Shawn and got on top of him.
"Are you ready to go?" Juliet asked.
"Yes." Shawn said.
Juliet got off of Shawn and walked out to the living room.
Shawn got off the bed and followed Juliet to the living room.
Juliet put stuff up and opened her apartment door and let Shawn follow her. She turned around and locked the apartment back and grabbed Shawn's hand and walked to her car.
Shawn got in the car and waited on Juliet.
Juliet got in the car and started it.
"Is your dad cooking?" Juliet asked.
"Yes." Shawn said.
"What is he cooking?"
"I don't know. I didn't ask him that."
"Let's go find out then."
Juliet left her apartment and arrived at Henry's 30 minutes later.
Shawn got out and ran over to Juliet's side of the car and helped her out.
"What are you doing?" Juliet asked.
"Being the best boyfriend ever…duh." Shawn said.
"I think you got that award a while back."
"How long ago?"
"We started dating 5 months ago, so around then."
Shawn threw his arm around Juliet's shoulder and kissed her temple.
The couple walked up Henry's driveway and Shawn entered the house without knocking.
"Oh Father!" Shawn called out.
Henry came around the corner with a beer in his hand, "Hello, son. Do you not know how to use the doorbell?"
"Didn't feel like it."
"You're lucky I didn't shoot your dumbass."
Juliet giggled.
Henry looked at Juliet, "Hello, Juliet. Lovely to see you as always."
"Likewise." Juliet said.
"Who is all coming tonight?" Shawn asked.
"Just you two." Henry said.
"Nice."
Shawn took Juliet's hand and led her to his old bedroom.
Juliet sat on Shawn's bed and looked at the various things on his wall.
"You must've had quite the childhood." Juliet said.
"Oh yeah?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah. Just look at all these posters and trinkets."
"Those were distractions."
Juliet's brow furrowed.
Shawn shut the door behind him and sat down on the bed next to Juliet.
"What do you mean distractions?" Juliet asked.
"When things weren't good with my parents I came up here and just sat for hours playing with the action figures and making up crazy stories to get through those times." Shawn said.
"When did things get bad?"
"Around middle school. They were fighting a lot more and mom was gone a lot."
"Oh baby, I'm sorry."
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and kissed it.
"Now we need to take a trip to Florida, so I can see your bedroom." Shawn said.
"Let me get right on that." Juliet said.
"No, I'm serious. Let's take a week off and go to Miami and visit your family."
"You want to meet my family?"
"Yeah. I want to meet the woman who made my beautiful girlfriend."
"Are you sure?"
"98%."
Juliet giggled.
"Look, I already met Frank and Ewan and that was total chaos, but I want to meet your mom and your grandparents who you adore."
"I do love my grandparents."
"Then let's sit down this week and plan a trip."
"Don't feel like you have to rush into things."
"I'm not. I know what I'm doing."
Juliet smiled.
Henry knocked on the door, "Kids, dinner is ready."
Shawn looked at his watch and saw that it was 7:30.
"It's 7:30, let's go eat and visit and then head out." Shawn said.
"Yes please." Juliet said.
Shawn and Juliet left Shawn's old bedroom and met Henry in the dining room for dinner.
"I hope burgers are fine." Henry said.
"They are perfect, thank you, Mr. Spencer." Juliet said.
"Juliet, call me Henry."
Juliet smiled and nodded.
Shawn and Juliet sat down next to each other and stole chips off each other's plates.
Juliet slapped Shawn's hand as he reached for her last chip.
"I think not." Juliet said.
"But the last ones are the best." Shawn whined.
"Eat yours."
"I ate them already…"
Juliet rolled her eyes and gave Shawn the last chip.
Shawn took the last chip from Juliet and then fed it to her.
"I thought you wanted it." Juliet said.
"We can get more chips. I just wanted an excuse to do that." Shawn said.
"I didn't know Shawn could be…romantic." Henry said.
Juliet looked up at Henry and smiled, "Only when he wants to be."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, we go out on little dates on the weekends and he loves it."
"I love going out, but nothing beats eating dinner at home and then watching a movie on the couch." Shawn said.
"Are you two living together yet?" Henry asked.
Juliet looked at Shawn.
"Not yet. Hopefully we will be in the near future." Juliet said.
Henry smiled. He got up and cleared the table and joined Shawn and Juliet in the living room for a little bit.
About an hour passed and Shawn was getting tired.
"Dad thanks for dinner." Shawn said.
"You leaving already?" Henry asked.
"Yeah. Had a long week."
"Well enjoy your holiday. I'll see you two sometime next weekend."
"Got it."
"Bye Juliet."
"Bye Henry. Happy New Year." Juliet said.
"Happy New Year."
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and walked out of Henry's house and into the car.
Juliet got in the car and started it and drove the 30 minutes back to her apartment.
It was 8:45 when Juliet arrived back at her apartment. She got out and waited on Shawn.
Shawn got out of the car and ran up to Juliet and gave her a kiss.
"What was that for?" Juliet asked.
"Just cause." Shawn said.
"Nothing is 'just cause' with you, Spencer."
"Let's go inside."
Shawn and Juliet went inside Juliet's apartment.
Shawn made his way straight to the couch and plopped down and turned on the TV.
"Are you not going to change?" Juliet asked.
"Do I have stuff here?" Shawn asked.
"You have a t-shirt and gym shorts."
"Yeah."
Shawn got off the couch and went to Juliet's room and got his gym shorts and t-shirt on.
Juliet changed into a tank top and some shorts and walked into the kitchen and got her and Shawn a beer.
Shawn came out of the bedroom and went and sat next to Juliet.
Juliet handed him the beer.
"Thanks, sweetheart." Shawn said.
"You're welcome." Juliet said.
"Ok we have a little over 3 hours until it's New Year's. What do you want to do?"
"Let's watch a movie. When that's over we'll watch regular TV."
"What movie?"
"New Year's Eve, since it's New Year's Eve."
Shawn went to OnDemand and pressed on New Year's Eve and pressed 'Play'.
For the next couple of hours, Shawn and Juliet were immersed in the movie.
The movie got finished playing and Shawn turned on the news to watch the local news.
Juliet curled into Shawn and laid her head on his chest.
It was 11:45 that night and Shawn got up and got champagne flutes from Juliet's cupboard.
10 minutes later, he poured the champagne into the glasses and brought them over to Juliet in the living room.
Shawn motioned Juliet to stand up.
Juliet stood up and faced Shawn.
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hands and cleared his throat.
"Juliet, I-I-I love you." Shawn said.
Juliet's hand flew straight to her mouth and tears started to form.
5, 4, 3, 2,…
"I love you too, Shawn." Juliet said.

Shawn pulled Juliet in for a deep kiss and pulled away.
"I love you. I wanted to tell you earlier, but I wanted to do it with just us two present." Shawn said.
"I love it." Juliet said.
"You ready to tell Karen and Lassie next week?"
"Will you come with me?"
"Of course I will."
"Oh and Shawn, move in with me and never leave me ever."
Shawn smiled really big and pulled Juliet closer to him.
Shawn bent down and whispered against Juliet's lips, "Anything for you my dear, Jules."
Juliet pulled away and grabbed the champagne flutes and handed one to Shawn.
"I have an idea…" Shawn started.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" Juliet asked.
"We take a picture of us kissing and clinking our glasses together and then send it to Karen and Lassie."
Juliet nodded with Shawn's idea, "Fine by me."
Shawn got his phone out and put it on camera. He put the timer on, so he had time to get ready.
The timer was set for 10 seconds. He pressed the picture button and the timer started to countdown.
Juliet closed her eyes and kissed Shawn while clinking their glasses.
Shawn heard the photo go off, he put his champagne down and pulled Juliet in closer and kissed her deeply.
Juliet bent down without breaking the kiss and put her glass down and wrapped her arms around Shawn's neck.
They pulled away for air and Juliet kissed Shawn one more time.
"I love you, Shawn Spencer." Juliet whispered.
"I love you too, Juliet O'Hara." Shawn said.
They clinked their glasses and took a sip from them and then sat back down on the couch.
Shawn grabbed his phone and looked at the picture and showed Juliet.
"Can we frame that and put it on the mantle?" Juliet asked.
"Yes." Shawn said.
Shawn sent the picture both to Karen and Carlton with the caption, "Our 1st New Year's."
"It is sent, I am turning my phone off for the rest of the night and I will deal with them in the morning." Shawn said.
"That sounds like a good idea." Juliet said.
Juliet turned her phone off too and put both of their phones on the coffee table. She turned around and held her hand out for Shawn to take.
"Where are we going?" Shawn asked.
"To the bedroom." Juliet said.
Shawn quickly turned off the TV, put their glasses in the sink and turned off the lights and then picked up Juliet and ran to her room and slammed the door shut for the night.
I hope you liked that little One-Shot. I liked the idea of telling Lassie and Karen that way. Happy New Year and may 2021 be amazing.
