SBPD
It was 2:30 on Sunday afternoon and Juliet was at her desk looking through a file folder trying to get clues to solve the case that her and Lassiter was working on.
Juliet sat back in her chair and sighed.
Out of nowhere someone touches Juliet's shoulder and squeezes it.
Juliet stiffens and turned around and saw Shawn and Natalie.
"Hey, you two. What are you doing here?" Juliet asked.
Shawn reached in his back pocket and pulled out two plane tickets for Miami.
Juliet snatched the tickets out of Shawn's hands and looked at them.
"Are you sure?" Juliet asked.
"Yes. We don't leave for another 3 days, but I wanted to surprise you with a trip home for Christmas and New Year's." Shawn said.
"Have you considered my job?"
"You're covered."
"What did you do?"
Carlton came around the corner and ran into Shawn.
"Your husband vowed to stay away from the station for an entire month, if I let you go on your trip." Carlton said.
Juliet looked at Shawn and he just smiled.
"Why?" Juliet asked.
"I really wanted to go on vacation. Plus I know your grandparents are excited to meet Nat." Shawn said.
"I'm sure Karen and I would work something out."
"I forgot about her."
"Yeah, now I have to come visit you at the Psych office at lunch."
"You say that like it's a bad thing."
"It's not, I just don't like to be far from the station during lunch."
Carlton walked away and let Shawn and Juliet continue their conversation.
Shawn grabbed a chair and pulled it to Juliet's desk and sat down.
Natalie fussed and turned to curl back into Shawn.
Juliet rubbed Natalie's back to soothe her.
"Jules, the office is 2 miles away." Shawn said.
"I know, but with traffic it feels like an hour." Juliet said.
"I get what you're saying."
"It's just that seeing you in the middle of the day makes my day."
"Ok, I'll go renegotiate with Lassie."
"Shawn, I'll talk to Karen before I leave today, which should be in 15 minutes."
"Ok. See you at home?"
"Sure will."
Juliet stood up with Shawn and kissed him and kissed Natalie on the cheek.
"I love you." Juliet said.
"I love you too." Shawn said.
Shawn left station and headed to his car. He put Natalie in her seat and buckled her up and then got in his car and drove home.
On the way home, Shawn called a post office closest to Juliet's mom's house.
"Miami Post Office 576." the secretary answered.
"Hey there, my name is Shawn Spencer and I was wondering if I could order my wife's Christmas present and have it delivered there." Shawn said.
"Where are you from?"
"Santa Barbara, CA. I surprised my wife with a trip to her mom's house in Miami and I don't think her present would be allowed on the plane. I will pay by the day that it's there."
"What is her gift?"
"It's going to be a bunch of things. I just need a spot to hold it until we get there on Wednesday evening."
"We will hold it here until Thursday afternoon. Is that ok?"
"That is perfect."
"Is this the number you would like to be contacted at when it arrives?"
"Yes."
"And you are Shawn Spencer?"
"Correct."
"Well Mr. Spencer, my name is Ashley and I will be here all next week."
"Thank you so much Ashley."
"Of course. Have a good day."
"You too."
Shawn hung up the phone as soon as he pulled into his driveway. He opened the garage and parked in his spot. He got out of the car and went and got Natalie and her diaper bag and walked in the house.
Juliet
As soon as Shawn left, Juliet made her way to Karen's office.
"Come in." Karen said.
Juliet walked in and shut the door behind her.
"How can I help you?" Karen asked.
"Hi, I have a gigantic favor." Juliet said.
"Which is?"
"Shawn just surprised me with two tickets to Miami and we leave on Wednesday."
"That was sweet of him."
"The only reason that I would be able to go on it is because that Shawn promised to stay away from the station for a month."
"Did he make that promise to Carlton?"
"How'd you know?"
Karen laughed.
"You can go and enjoy your vacation and Natalie's first Christmas." Karen said.
"What about Shawn?" Juliet asked.
"I'll deal with Lassiter. You are coming in tomorrow and Tuesday right?"
"Yes, but I am taking a half day on Tuesday."
"That's fine. I will bring your Christmas gifts by your house on Monday."
"Let's wait until after we get back."
"When is that?"
"A couple days after New Year's."
Karen nodded, "That sounds good."
"I'm done for the day." Juliet said.
"Alright, enjoy the rest of your weekend."
"Thank you. And thank you for the vacation thing. I know Shawn appreciates it."
"I'm shocked he wants to meet your brother and his kids."
"He mostly wants to meet my grandparents, because he knows how much they mean to me."
"He's sweet."
"He is…when he wants to be."
Karen laughed, "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Sure thing."
Juliet left Karen's office and went to her desk and got her stuff together to head home. She packed up everything and left the station and headed home.
Juliet got home at 3:45 that afternoon and walked inside and heard the TV playing.
"Hello!" Juliet said.
"In here." Shawn said.
Juliet walked through the foyer off the garage and into the living room and saw Shawn and Natalie watching TV.
"Hey guys." Juliet said.
Shawn paused the TV and Natalie started to fuss. He pressed play and turned the volume down.
"Well, she's in a great mood." Juliet said.
"She's been a handful this afternoon." Shawn said.
"How?"
"She's been moody. She's not comfortable in any position she sits and lays in."
"Has she been eating today?"
"She turns her head from the bottle every time."
"Can I see her?"
"By all means."
Juliet put her purse down on the chair and went and grabbed Natalie from Shawn.
"Hey sweet girl. What's going on?" Juliet whispered.
Juliet walked to her bedroom and laid down on the bed with Natalie.
Natalie got situated on Juliet and began to fall asleep.
Juliet looked down and saw Natalie falling asleep.
Shawn walked to the bedroom and saw Natalie sleeping on Juliet's chest.
"How'd you do that?" Shawn whispered.
"I'm her mother which automatically makes me magic." Juliet whispered.
"I see. Do you want to change?"
"I do, but she literally just closed her eyes."
"Ok. Can I join you two?"
"Of course."
Shawn got in the bed with Juliet and Natalie and curled up to Juliet.
"Are you excited about our trip?" Shawn asked.
"I am. I'm excited to see my grandparents." Juliet said.
"Me too."
"They will love you."
"I hope so. Is it bad that I'm nervous?"
"No. It's actually cute. I haven't seen you this nervous before other than when you proposed to me."
Shawn smiled and kissed Juliet.
They took a nap for the rest of the day.
