Saturday
One Saturday, Shawn and Juliet were sitting around the house with 9 month Natalie.
Shawn was on the floor with Natalie and a toy got kicked by Juliet on accident.
Natalie followed the toy with her eyes and got on her knees and crawled.
"Oh my God." Juliet said.
Shawn looked at Juliet and then back at Natalie and then back at Juliet.
"Did she?" Shawn asked.
"I think so."
Juliet sat down on the floor and held her arms out for Natalie.
Natalie looked at Juliet and then at Shawn and crawled to Shawn.
"Ha! She likes me more than you." Shawn joked.
"You're closer, that's why." Juliet fussed.
Shawn picked up Natalie and kissed her cheek.
"Ok, so now you can crawl, now we need to baby proof the place." Shawn said.
"We'll do that later. I say we go to the station and show Aunt Karen her new trick." Juliet suggested.
"Well if we're stopping there, we have to go visit my parents…son obligations."
"You sound like that's torture."
Shawn looked at Juliet and cocked his head to the left, "You do know who my parents are, right?"
Juliet laughed, "I do."
"Then it is always torture."
"Shut up."
Juliet got up and grabbed her purse and looked at Shawn.
"What?" Shawn asked.
"Let's go." Juliet said.
"Is her bag ready?"
Juliet nodded.
"Then let's go."
Shawn and Juliet left the house and drove to the station.
Shawn pulled into Juliet's parking spot and got out and went and got Natalie out of her seat.
Juliet grabbed the diaper bag and her purse and went inside.
Once Juliet was inside, she headed straight to Karen's office.
Karen saw Juliet outside the window and waved her in.
"What are you doing here?" Karen asked.
"We have something to show you." Juliet said.
"Well where is it?"
"In the car."
Juliet saw Shawn enter the station and waved him over.
Shawn walked into Karen's office and shut the door and the blinds.
"Why are the blinds shut?" Karen asked.
"This is top secret." Shawn said.
"What is that, Mr. Spencer?"
"Watch."
Shawn put Natalie on the floor and sat down across from her.
"Come here, squirt." Shawn said.
Natalie got on her knees and crawled to Shawn.
"When did this happen?" Karen asked.
"Not even an hour ago." Juliet said.
Shawn stood up and picked Natalie up with him.
Karen walked over to Shawn and Natalie, "Well Ms. Natalie, you are on the move."
"I want to get a dog, but Jules said no." Shawn said.
"Don't you dare make me the bad guy." Juliet fussed.
"Why not?" Karen asked.
"I told her that I want Nat to have a sibling and I know that she's not ready for a baby yet. I know we're back in the field, but my mom watches her during the day." Shawn explained.
"Shawn, you do realize that if the dog bites or hurts her when I'm not there, I'm going to be livid." Juliet said.
"You don't think I know the risks of getting a dog? We have a kid and she's still alive."
Juliet rolled her eyes, "Shawn, not right now."
Shawn wrapped his arms around Natalie and hugged her to him.
"Well are you ready to head to dad's?" Shawn mumbled.
"What was that?" Juliet asked.
"Are you ready to go to dad's?"
"Yeah."
"I'll meet you in the car."
Shawn walked out of Karen's office and out to the car.
Karen turned to Juliet, "What was that?"
"He's been wanting a dog for a solid 6 months and I've laid out every reason we shouldn't have a dog right now." Juliet answered.
"And what would that be?"
"We're in the field now, I'm not there if anything happens. I just don't want her to get hurt."
"Isn't his mom staying with her during the day?"
"Yeah, but she's watching a 9-month old. She doesn't need to watch a puppy too."
"Juliet, I think a puppy would be good for Natalie. I mean if you get a puppy and she's still a baby, the risks of the puppy biting and attacking is very low."
Juliet sighed.
"Look, I'm in no position to tell you what to do and what not to do, but the only other time I see Shawn passionate about something is when you or the baby is involved."
"I want him to be happy, but I want to protect our daughter too."
"I know. I hear bulldogs are very cuddly dogs."
Juliet laughed, "You think so?"
Karen laughed and nodded.
"Thank you, for this." Juliet said.
"Anytime. He's probably wondering where you are." Karen said.
"I'll call you later?"
"Sounds good. Oh and, record the little one crawling. You'll thank me later."
Juliet nodded.
Juliet left Karen's office and walked out to the car and saw Natalie on Shawn's lap in the driver's seat.
"You better not be driving, Miss Thing." Juliet said.
Shawn looked at Juliet and smiled, "We just competed in the Daytona 500. First place."
"Well don't we have a talented child?"
Shawn got out and put Natalie back in her seat and got back in the car and drove to his dad's house.
They got to Henry's house and Juliet got out and went and grabbed Natalie.
"You had her first." Juliet fussed.
"That's fair." Shawn said.
They walked up the steps and Shawn knocked and rang the doorbell repeatedly.
Henry came to the door and saw Shawn pressing the doorbell.
"Touch it again and you will be 6ft under." Henry threatened.
Shawn put his hand in his pocket.
"That's what I thought."
Henry turned to Juliet, "Hello, Juliet. How are you?"
"I'm good, Henry. How are you?" Juliet asked.
"So far so good. Would you guys like to come in?"
"Please."
Henry moved out of the doorway and let Shawn and Juliet inside.
"What brings you two out here today?" Henry asked.
"We have something to show you." Shawn said.
"And what's that?"
"Um, where's mom?"
"Upstairs."
"Mom! Come down here, please."
"You couldn't have just walked upstairs?"
Shawn shrugged.
Maddie walked down the stairs and saw his son and his family in the living room.
"Hello, Goose." Maddie said.
"Hey mom." Shawn said.
Maddie walked over to Shawn and hugged him and made her way to Juliet.
"Hello, Juliet. How are you?" Maddie asked.
"I'm good. We have something to show you." Juliet said.
"Well let's go in the living room."
Everyone walked into the living room and Henry and Maddie sat down on the couch.
"What do you have to show us?" Henry asked.
"Can you wait a second?" Shawn asked.
Shawn and Juliet sat down on the floor and Juliet put Natalie on the floor and she crawled to Shawn.
"Awww. When did she start doing that?" Maddie asked.
"A couple of hours ago. I kicked a toy on accident and she went right after it." Juliet said.
"Did you get it on video?"
"No. We were shocked. I mean she's been rocking back and forth, but I thought we had another month or so until she started crawling."
"Shawn, what do you think?"
"Mom, she's growing up too fast. Make it stop." Shawn said.
Juliet laughed.
"Jules, she's almost 1, like when did that happen? It feels like yesterday I held her for the first time." Shawn said.
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand, "Baby, I know. Look we still have at least a solid 15 years before she becomes more independent."
"I'm cool with that."
Juliet laughed, "I figured."
Natalie cooed and reached for Juliet.
Juliet picked Natalie up, "Hey sweet girl. How does lunch and cuddle time with daddy sound?"
Natalie smiled and put her head on Juliet's shoulder.
"Ok, we'll get going." Juliet whispered.
Shawn looked at Juliet and raised his eyebrows.
"She's ready to go." Juliet said.
"Ok." Shawn said.
"Well guys, thanks for stopping by. I can't believe she's crawling already." Maddie said.
"You better be ready for this one to be unstoppable." Henry said.
"Why's that?" Juliet asked.
"Shawn couldn't sit still for 5 seconds."
"Dad, I was a curious child." Shawn defended.
Juliet laughed, "I'm sure you were, baby."
"Not you too, Jules."
Juliet bit back a smile and chuckled.
"You're a cruel woman." Shawn said.
"Well, you knew what you were getting into." Juliet said.
"I guess you do have a point."
Natalie lifted her head up and saw Shawn and leaned toward him.
Juliet looked at Natalie, "Um, where do you think you're going?"
"Jules, she obviously wants me." Shawn said.
Shawn went up to Juliet and took Natalie from her.
"Baby hog." Juliet grumbled.
"What was that?" Shawn asked.
"Nothing, baby."
Maddie laughed at the two interacting.
"This child will never have a dull moment in her life." Maddie said.
"I am the life of the party." Shawn said.
"Until 10 o'clock and then you get tired and cranky." Juliet said.
"Low blow."
Juliet grabbed Shawn's hand and swung it back and forth.
"Well guys, you two have a great day." Maddie said.
"Thank you, we will." Juliet said.
"Are we still on for Thursday?"
"Yeah, is 1:30 good?"
"Sounds perfect."
"Thursday? What's Thursday?" Shawn asked.
"None of your business." Maddie said.
Shawn rolled his eyes.
Shawn started walking toward the door and began to tug on Juliet's hand.
"Well, we love you. See you guys later." Juliet said.
"Be safe." Henry said.
Juliet nodded and walked out the door and caught up to Shawn.
"Home?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah." Juliet responded.
They got in the car and Shawn drove home.
Shawn pulled into the garage and got out and grabbed Natalie and went inside.
Juliet watched Shawn go inside and called her mom.
"Hello?" Maryanne asked.
"Hey mom." Juliet said.
"Is everything ok?"
"I think so."
"What do you mean?"
"Shawn is being insanely stubborn today and it's pissing me off."
"What's he doing?"
"Being Shawn. We went to the station earlier and he brought up the dog situation again and kept egging it on and I snapped."
"Did you two have a fight?"
"It was in public, so no."
"What else has he done today?"
"We went to his dad's house to visit and towards the end, he got testy."
"I'm sorry, baby girl."
"This is when I wish that you lived closer where I can just come over and hangout for a little bit."
"You can still do that."
"Lauren is at work."
"Well go shopping or something."
Shawn walked back into the living room and didn't see Juliet, he opened the garage door to check on her. He opened the door and heard Juliet talking.
"Sounds like you need a vacation." Maryanne said.
"What do you mean?" Juliet asked.
"How about you and the baby come down here for a week."
"I'm not going on vacation without my husband."
"Well Julie, he sounds like he's making you mad."
"He makes me so irritated, but I'm not going to drop everything as soon as shit hits the fan. He's the love of my life and also happens to be my child's father."
"Well I don't know what you want me to do."
"I just wanted you to listen."
"I don't remember the last time you called me aggravated."
"It doesn't happen often. Look mom, thanks for the offer, but I'm staying here. Shawn and I are fine, it was just a little tiff. Not everything that happens is a big deal."
"Well kiddo, the way you just called me, made it seem like it."
"I just wanted to vent to you mom. I rarely pick up the phone and call you to just vent."
"You haven't called me in a week and a half."
"Sorry, mom, I've been a little busy."
"So busy that you haven't had time to call me?"
"You know what? Thanks for listening."
"Don't hang up on me."
"Next time I need to vent, I'll call someone else."
"Well I love you."
"I love you too, mom."
Juliet hung up the phone and leaned back against her car and sighed.
Shawn listened to the rest of the conversation and went into the garage and wrapped his arms around Juliet.
Juliet turned into Shawn and hugged him.
"I'm sorry, Jules." Shawn whispered.
Juliet pulled away and looked at Shawn, "You irritate the hell out of me, you know that?"
"I might've been told that once or twice."
Juliet laughed, "But I love you. I love you so much, Shawn Spencer."
"I love you too, Juliet."
Shawn bent down and kissed Juliet.
Juliet pulled away and smiled, "We will discuss the dog thing next week."
"Don't play with me, Jules."
"I'm not playing with you."
Shawn let go of Juliet and jumped in the air.
Juliet laughed and grabbed Shawn's hand, "Let's go. I am sure your daughter is fussy."
"The door is open and I haven't heard her." Shawn said.
Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and they walked into the house together.
