Chapter 4

Bombastic Incident.

As the members of the High Council returned to their brown shuttle, as the white and red ambulance drove away. I looked around and saw the towers of smoke, piles of rubble, and metal debris littler throughout the sunset painted city. It was a depressing sight that I've been familiar with throughout the war. The sent of ash hit my nose, making it twitch a little. I then felt Beta's hand on my right shoulder. I then turned at her, and saw the colors reflect from her beautiful blue eyes.

"I missed you, Alpha." She said.

"I did too." I replied. "Having to stay at base while you and our men fight for their lives and freedom against the Empire." I then turned back towards the city.

"You know, a wise wolf once said, 'If you riddle your thoughts with the past, there won't be enough room for the future.'" I then looked at here confused, making her giggle a little.

"I don't remember saying that." I spoke.

"But you said it none the less." She smiled, and turned my face towards here. "Look hon, I know you, you can deny it all you want, but deep inside you still think you can save everybody, and it's just putting more stress on you." She then put her and on my left cheek. "Even with all the power in the world, you can't save every person. So please for the love of Chaos; don't blame yourself for everybody's lose." I then felt a little tear drop down from my right eye. She then pulled me in for a kiss when suddenly a loud explosion erupted from the city, shaking the ground like an earthquake. I wiped my eyes and saw a large cloud of rise from the city. I then ran and left of the bridge and flew towards the city, avoiding the towers of smoke. I then approached a half-collapsed building where the smoke originated, small groups of people gathered on the street in front the building. I then dropped down and landed near the crowd.

"Ah General." A man with a high voice with a heavy Irish accent called out. I then turned and saw a bird approach me with a yellow beak, brown eyes, and wore military gloves and a red bandana. "Sergeant Jack, Bomb Squad; at ya service." He chirped saluting me. I then saluted back.

"So what's the story." I asked.

"Well, me and my boys were aidin' in the search and rescue in this area, when a young lad ran out of the building like he had just seen the ghost of Saint Paddy himself. Turns out he saw an unexploded bomb in this building." He then chuckled. "Begorra, I can't help but think that was St. Mikes blessing to have us nearby."

"Sergeant, focus please." He then stopped and got himself together.

"So I then sent one of my men to go inside and defuse the bomb."

"What's his name?" I asked.

"Wilson."

"Think he's still alive."

"Possibly, he was wearing his bombproof suit. But he won't be survivin' being buried alive if we don't hurry."

"I'll take care of this." I then pressed a button on my scouter. "Voice command: Scan for life forms." A second later a silhouette of body appeared on the third floor."

"Found him, have one of you men follow me and help me get the body out."

He then turned to his right. "JONES, COME HERE. ON THE DOUBLE." A bear with a similar uniform to Jack but was red and had brown eyes.

"You're with the General to get Wilson out of that mess."

"Yes sir." He said with a middle-pitched voice.

"We may have to suspect the stair case is destroyed. So, we'll fly in through that second to last window to the left."

"Aye sir." I then used my power covering him in a yellow aura; picked him up and lifted him into the window. I then flew in myself. And entered the small dark room. It was emply and was covered with black ash.

"General, over here." Jones, picked in from the right. I then followed him through the dark hallway and into a room on the left. The back wall was just a pile of rubble, and a man in a bomb suit was under it. Jones then got on his knee and banged on his helmet. The man then ground, he looked like he was a blue fox.

"You okay man." Jones asked.

"Auuughhhh. I've…. Been better." He groaned. "I can move."

"I can fix that." I said.

"Are you sure General?" Jones said. "Judging by the looks of this wall, if it's adjusted too much, the whole ceiling could collapse."

"Then you pull him out and run like hell." I said. "Get ready."

"But—"

That is an order soldier!" I sniped "He then crouched down and grabbed Wilsons arms. I then used my power, and lifted with all of my might. I then saw him pull out the body and drag it out of the room as quick as he could. I then felt more weight upon me as the ceiling started to collapse. I then started to slowly back up, when I tripped and fell on my back. And that was the last thing I remembered. I then had little flashes of memory. "One was inside a moving vehicle, another. I was being moved through a hallway, probably our base. I then passed out again.

When I woke up, I was in a hospital room, it looked very familiar. I then rubbed my eyes and felt a piece of plastic over my left eye. I tried to move it but it felt attached to me. I then realized that it was an eyepatch. I then heard the door open and close, and who do I see but Amy.

"Ah General." She said. "Your finally awake." I then looked out the window and saw that it was daytime. I then looked at the clock, which said 1:47.

"How long have I been out." I asked.

"You were in a coma for about 32 hours." She replied

"So, what happened to me."

"The ceiling of the room you were in collapsed on you. It took us 15 minutes to get you out, and in an ambulance." She then took a breath. "You were not in good condition. You took a mild blow to the prefrontal cortex, some of use were worried that you would have permanent brain damage." She paused. "Somehow the weight of the debris distributed itself well enough that legs weren't crushed, however it will take some time before you can walk again."

"How long." I asked.

"Could be between 3 week and 3 years." She replied. "I'm not sure." I then rested my left hand on my face.

"What about this." I asked.

"When we found you, a piece of wood stabbed your eye." She spoke. "It was unsalvageable."

"Can I see it?" I asked the then walked over to the sable and picked up a small square mirror. And held it in front of me. I say my body markings on my head, and saw the little black eye patch over my left eye.

"Well, it could be worse." I smirked. Amy then put the mirror away.

"What about the bomb expert, how is he." I asked.

"Thanks to you, he managed to survive without a scratch." She replied. I then let out a sigh of relief. "Unfortunately, I can't say the same about you."

"Yeah." I then remembered my conversation with Beta. "Amy, do you think you could fetch Beta for me."

"I don't know." She said. "She's been worried sick about you, and you know how girlfriends get."

"Yeah." I chucked. "Hell hath no fury, but I'll take my chances." She then nodded and then left the room. I then leaned forward and pulled the mirror towards me with the Triforce. I then leaned back again.

"Now that I look at it." I said to myself. "I don't look so bad with an eye patch.
