This chapter will be taking place 6 months after the previous chapter, just wanted to let you know.

Besides that, I think I have pretty much nothing else to say, let's get started.

Emilia stood against a wall, listening to music with a pair of headphones. Her mask was on her face and dagger on her right hand. She felt the heat signature of her targets growing near, around the corner. She readied her dagger.

The targets appear to be a group of 4 very rich businessmen, walking in the hallway, talking about ways to further increase their wealth.

As soon as the first man reached the corner, Emilia grabbed him and slit his throat.

"It's the masked devil! He's here to kill us all!" the rest of the men cried.

Emilia gained quite a reputation in the dark side of academy city from her 6 months of missions. As the men pleaded for mercy, Emilia turned up her music a little. She got used to seeing the corpses, but she still can't get used to the ear piercing screams people make when they're killed, especially if they're female. So, Emilia played loud music into her ears so she won't be able to hear what her victims are saying. The music also calms her too, it's a win-win.

Emilia was known for being quick, silent and efficient. Most assassins in the dark side sadistically tease their victims before killing them entirely, but Emilia wasn't like that. She always killed her targets quickly and painlessly, without giving them a single chance.

One of the men pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the masked girl. Of course, she froze a component in the gun, dismantling it.

She walked forward to finish the job.

As Emilia left though the back building, she paused her music player and texted X to put the money in her savings.

Emilia entered a hospital and entered the room and Azusa's eyes lit up.

"Hey Emilia!"

"Hello."

Emilia placed the cake she bought on the counter next to her friend.

"So, how was work?" Azusa asked.

"Oh, normal as always," said Emilia, faking a smile.

Of course, she couldn't tell her about what she has been doing the past 6 months. Any normal person would have figured it out, but luckily for Emilia, her friend was a little absent minded.

Emilia loved visiting her friend, she does it every day since she has pretty much nothing else to do.

"You're going to go to a middle school next week, right?" Azusa asked.

"Sure am," she replies.

"Don't push yourself okay?" Azusa says with a smile.

"Huh?"

"It's just… ever since I recovered from my coma, It kinda looks like your eyes have been dead. It's like… they're emotionless."

Emilia faked a laugh. "Don't be silly."

After a while of talking, Emilia left the hospital room, and went home.

Emilia packed up and moved to the school dorm with her things. She didn't have much to pack. She only brought just a box of clothes, a box of books (including her laptop), and a box with a big X mark on the side. Inside that box, was Emilia's dagger, mask, hoodie and cape. Emilia very recently got a cape, and it made her job only slightly more enjoyable.

Once her 3 boxes are on the side of her room, she knocks on the door to meet her roommate. How am I going to hide the X box?

Before Emilia could find a solution, someone opened the door.

"Ah, so you must be my roommate," the girl at the door says.

"Y-Yep," she says awkwardly.

The girl was about the same height as Emilia, with black, straight hair and blue eyes. The girl also wore a small, small, white flower on her head.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Bring the rest of your boxes."

Emilia nodded, and carried her three boxes into the room.

The girl looked shocked. "That's it?"

Emilia nodded.

"Well, let's introduce ourselves! My name is Saten Ruiko. What's yours?"

"Todoroki Emilia."

Emilia wanted to avoid having more friends. She already knows how it feels to lose friends, and didn't want to go through the pain of losing more. Especially since she had a job that consisted of killing, protecting, and stealing with criminal organizations.

However, this girl named Ruiko kept trying to get close to her.

"What are in those boxes anyway?"

"Clothes and books," Emilia said silently.

"And this one?" Ruiko pointed at the X marked box.

"Please don't touch that one."

"Oh well, let's go somewhere!"

Emilia looked at her in confusion. "Why?"

"It'll be fun! Also, I want to introduce a friend of mine to you!" Ruiko cheerfully replies.

I guess I'm not shaking her off that easily. Emilia didn't bother trying to protest, she already had so much in mind.

Kazari walked out of the Judgment 177 Branch Office once she was finished with her duties in judgement. She pulled out her flip phone and read the new message she received.

"Hey Uiharu! I want you to meet my new roommate, so meet me at the arcade!" Ruiko texted.

Kazari smiled and walked to the seventh mist mall to meet Ruiko's new roommate.

About an hour later, Kazari waited in the mall, and was met by two people.

"Hey Uiharu," greeted Ruiko.

Uiharu smiled "Hello, I'm guessing this is your roommate?"

"Yep! Todoroki-san, this is Uiharu Kazari, and Uiharu, this is Todoroki Emilia."

"Call me Todoroki," Emilia says half-heartedly.

Kazari inspected Ruiko's new roommate. The girl had black hair along with a long ponytail. She had grayish blue eyes. She didn't look like a bad person, but Kazari had never seen someone's eyes so lifeless before.

After a minute of Kazari staring at Emilia's eyes, she realized that she was being rude.

"Oh, sorry!" Kazari blurted out suddenly.

Emilia didn't respond. To Kazari, her face very clearly said: can we get this over with?

Ruiko decided to break the ice. "Well let's go to the arcade!"

The girls walked towards the arcade, with Kazari and Ruiko about 5 meters ahead of Emilia.

"She looks a bit depressed." Kazari pointed out.

"I know right? That's why I'm trying to get her to feel better by going to the arcade. So, please play along okay?"

Kazari nodded.

Once they arrived at the arcade, Ruiko said to Emilia, "what do you want to play first?"

Emilia sighed and responded. "I dunno, I have never been here before."

Kazari winced.

"Well… let's start with that one shall we?"

After finishing up with the arcade, Kazari offered to buy everyone ice cream, but Emilia declined.

Ruiko took a deep breath and finally decided to be blunt.

"Todoroki, why is it that you look so sad?"

Emilia didn't respond.

"Did you break up with someone?"

The girl didn't respond again.

"Did your friends end up hating you or something?"

That was the last straw. Emilia got up and left. The two friends speechlessly watched the girl storm away.

Kazari looked at the window during break time. The new transfer student, Todoroki Emilia was in her class. She kept thinking about ways to cheer her up, but to no avail.

"U-I-HA-RU!"

Kazari felt her skirt being flipped.

"S-Saten! I told you to stop doing that!"

Ruiko giggled. "You were having a moonwalk. What's wrong, pink polka dots?"

"Well, I'm just trying to find a way to get Todoroki to smile again, and it won't be that way again!"

It's been a week since the two friends met Emilia, and the only time they managed to get her to chuckle a little was when Kazari got her skirt flipped in public.

"Maybe that's just the way she is."

"Oh, you know that isn't true, everyone smiles. Oh, I know! I could get her to meet the Railgun!"

Ruiko gave her a confused look. "You mean the 3rd ranked?"

"Yes, my Colleague, Shirai, is actually friends with the Railgun, so she is going to introduce me to her!"

"I don't know, level 5s are usually arrogant and full of themselves. If anything, I think it's going to make Todoroki's mood worse."

"Aww, don't be like that, you can come too, okay?"

"Sure, okay."

"Where are you taking me this time?" Emilia asked.

"Oh, you'll see, it's a surprise," Ruiko said.

"You don't need to try so hard to get your roommate's attention."

Ruiko eventually dragged Emilia to a small family restaurant, meeting up with the Kazari along the way.

Just as the 3 students arrived at the restaurant, they saw what appears to be a brown, short haired girl fighting off a tawny haired girl with large pigtails, desperately trying to kiss the other girl.

After things settled down, everyone introduced themselves.

"I'm Uiharu Kazari, Shirai's colleague. It's an honor to meet you," Kazari said.

"I'm Saten Ruiko, I'm a friend of hers," Ruiko said, pointing at her friend.

"Todoroki." Emilia said flatly.

"That's my roommate, Todoroki Emilia," Ruiko introduced.

"Hello, I'm Misaka Mikoto. Just call me Misaka." She walked up to Emilia. "Could you be an electromaster?"

She must be talking about my kinetic energy in magnetic form. "No, my ability is Thermal hand." Emilia replies.

Mikoto gave her a puzzled look. "Okay then, for some reason I was so sure you're an electromaster, since I'm one myself."

After a turn of events, the 5 students ended up in a crepe stand due to Mikoto's usual addiction to a certain frog mascot.

While Mikoto and Ruiko were waiting in line, Mikoto started a conversation.

"Is your roommate okay? She looks like she spent the entire night awake."

"I know right? She's been like that ever since I met her, I'm starting to think that's just the way she is, but Uiharu made me bring her along in hopes of cheering her up."

"Did she at least laugh or smile once?"

Ruiko remembered herself flipping Kazari's skirt. "Well… you see… um"

Ruiko noticed that she was next in line. After getting her crepes and Gekota key chain.

"This is the last one, thank you!"

Mikoto immediately plopped onto the floor in frustration. Ruiko decided to give Mikoto her Gekota, much to level 5's joy.

Suddenly, an explosion occurs in a nearby bank. 5 robbers ran out each with a sack of money and a bandanna. Emilia could tell they planned the robbery in only one day.

Kuroko put on her armband.

"Uiharu, call Anti-skill," she said as she teleported.

Emilia watched the two judgement officers get to work and clenched her teeth, remembering the ignorant man with clairvoyance.

Two of the robbers ended up getting pinned down by Kuroko.

"There's a boy missing! Where is he?" A woman cried in distress.

Ruiko started looking around until she found a robber attempting to kidnap a boy. She ran towards the boy. Emilia, following Ruiko's line of view, followed her.

Ruiko immediately took hold of the child while the robber tried to shake her off. What is she doing? Emilia thought. The man hit Ruiko and attempted to run off with the kid.

But before he could enter the van, he was elbowed by Emilia, and knocked out cold.

Emilia looked up to find yet another robber driving straight towards the 3rd ranked. Of course, the man didn't stand a chance, and was blasted with Mikoto's ace move: Railgun.

"Sissy, watch out!"

Mikoto turned around to find the last remaining robber in a truck, attempting to hit her by surprise. Mikoto tried to pull out another coin, but it was too late.

Absolute Zero.

Suddenly, a 20 foot iceberg grew from the pavement, blocking the truck's way. As a result, the truck hit the ice and flipped on its side. Mikoto frantically looked around, trying to find the esper responsible for this.

Emilia smiled. She grew fond of these people, so was going to have to protect them. I won't let anymore friends die. Not on my watch.

Emilia once again visited Azusa's room.

"You don't have to visit everyday you know, you're having school from now on."

"I know, so I won't be coming daily as much you know?"

"Did you make new friends? Your eyes seem a little less dead."

Emilia flinched. "Y-Yes."

"Great! That's good news, we outta celebrate or something!"

She looked up in surprise. "You… aren't mad?"

"Of course not, I can't be your only friend too right? I was worried that you won't get yourself any friends. I can't spend much time with you at the moment."

"Thanks a lot Azusa."

"No problem Emilia."
