Chapter 2: starting my new life
I hugged my teachers and wish them goodbye. I would miss them dearly. I sigh, I walk outside of the airport and look around. I then see charlie's police car. It's weird I am so used to seeing my dad's pick-up, which would have been mine. If it wasn't for fucking AJ. I start to approach Charlie, he looks at me so confused. I say, " hi charlie long time no see." I tried to smile but by the way, he reacted it seem like I failed. He processed to hug me and kiss my forehead. I didn't mind it, he was like a second father to me. Maybe I can be happy. Maybe AJ can't hold me back. Maybe I can fall in love again.
Charlies pov
I patiently wait for Emma, I remember that first time I met her too, I got a call from the elementary school apparently a student was throwing chairs and papers and bitting. I didn't feel comfortable hurting an innocent child. When I arrived on the scene, I saw Emma. She seemed so scared and trapped like a wild animal. I told my man to back down. She looks so confused. Like this is normal for her. I put my hands up and approached her slowly.
I said " Emma darling, you gotta calm down." she looked at me so confused as if wondering that what I was saying was a trap, and if she let her guard down she will get hurt. She growled at me, before saying, " get away from me. I know what you people do. You pretend to care about me, and then just throw me away." she seemed on the verge of tears. I look at her she seems to believe it, "Emma, that is not true. Emma, I care about you." I slowly keep approaching her.
I was the only one to calm her down. She approached me and apologized. Like it was her fault, her mother then approached and said, " you dumb idiot. Do you know what you just did?" Emma just stared, as if knowing fighting back will get her into more trouble. Her dad came in he seemed so confused. Then smirked and says, "Sofía, conoces las reglas, en nuestro acuerdo de divorcio. Final mente puedo alejar a mi bebé de ti." ( Sofía, you know the rules, in our divorce agreement. I can finally get my baby girl away from you.)
Then he called his lawyer and told him what Sofia told...well more yelled at Emma. And Sofia then slaps Emma across the face. We all witnessed it, Emma didn't fight back. We arrested her for assault against a minor. I went to Emma and comforted her. Her father approached me and thanked me. I became very close to the Roman family after that. I got both Emma and her dad Roligeo interested in fishing.
The last time I saw Emma was in 2009. We were throwing them a going-away/Christmas party. Roliego got a job in construction. Emma seemed so sad. She hugged both Billy and Sara, she hugged the twins, she hugged Leah, she hugged Quil and Harry, and waved goodbye to Sue. Emma and Sue never really got the chance to bond. The very next day they packed and left. Roligeo re-married an amazing young woman named Doribel. They ended up with three more kids. The last time I saw them when Emma was the oldest at 9, Damian was second at 7, Jessica at 5, and Melody at 2. Now I wait, for 14-year-old Emma. 14 years old. Roligeo told me that Emma has changed a lot since I last saw her.
I look at the doors and see a very mature looking girl she had Emma's glasses, but she didn't look like Emma. She was wearing a body-con and her dark brown hair now had blonde highlights. She had lost a lot of weight. She approached me, and said, " hi, charlie long time no see." she seemed so sad, she tried to smile at me but I could see the pain behind her eyes. I went up to her and hugged her and kissed her forehead.
