Aftermath And New Developments.
To say things were strange after last night would be a massive understatement. Just how does a city full of people react to the fact that a building sized creature showed up from seemingly out of nowhere and just walked through the city like nothing? Not to mention it didn't really do anything other than drain some energy and then left just as suddenly as it arrived. The higher ups were doing everything they could to keep the students and adults calm, being utterly clueless of how to deal with such an situation that had never happened in the city before. This was something far beyond anything they had plans for.
Right now Kuroko was looking at the path of destruction the creature from last night had left. She was still having a hard time processing what happened. A building sized monster just showing up? Tearing through the city and then just left? Non of this made even a shred of sense to the young Judgment member. Her training sure didn't cover this, and it was clear this was something far beyond Judgment.
"Look at all the destruction... it's like it left a large scar on the city" Kazari said sadly as she looked at all the destruction.
"You and Saten were much closer to the destruction than the rest of us. Are you two ok?" Kuroko asked.
"I am fine, I was evacuated before that creature reached our area... I am more worried about Saten. She told me she saw that thing up close and personal. It's a real miracle that she is still alive" Kazari answered.
"How is she?" Kuroko asked in concern for her friend.
Kazari sighed a little "She was very shaken up and didn't sleep at all. And who can blame her? Not sure if anyone could sleep after something like this. But since she was the closest to the incident, she will be questioned about it. I tried to convince them to give her more time, but they needed all the information they could get, just in case that creature comes back".
Kuroko honestly wasn't surprised by that, of course the higher ups wouldn't want to waste time after something like this "A giant creature showing up out of nowhere. We have seen so many strange things since we got to this city, things we might've never have believed in before. But this? This is something else".
"Yeah... and now, it really feels like we are out of our league" Kazari agreed.
Kuroko nodded at that. All they could do was help the people and hope someone comes up with a solution to this... monster problem.
Ruiko was sitting in a room, she knew she would be questioned, but that wasn't really her biggest worry at the moment. She still had a hard time believing she was still alive. She looked that monster right in the eye, and it easily could've killed her on the spot. All it would've needed to do was damage the building she stood on and she would've been dead buried under all the rubble. But instead it just walked away, like she wasn't even there. She was lucky. Very lucky.
She was brought out of her thoughts when the door opened and a young woman walked in... she didn't look like anyone from Anti-Skill. In face she looked like a reporter. Ruiko mentally groaned, of course the media would be all over this. But how did this woman find out about her? Well it's not like it mattered now.
The woman gave her a friendly smile "You must be Ruiko Saten. I am Yuri Tachibana, from the Broadcasting Satellite Digital Q".
"Wait, I know about that. Aren't you a television station notorious for making low-budget fake documentaries?" Ruiko asked.
"We do sometimes. But I am here for something very real" Yuri said as she took a seat in front of Ruiko.
"I guess you are here to talk about that monster from last night" Ruiko said, though she already knew the answer.
"I am, and I may already know what it is" Yuri said as she took some pictures out of her bag and put them on the table "Tell me, did the creature look like this?".
Ruiko looked at the pictures and got wide eyes. The pictures were old, but there was no mistaking it "Yes. I couldn't see the creature to well due to how dark it was. But from what I did see, it looked a lot like this".
"Then my suspicion was correct. He has returned" Yuri mused to herself.
"He?" Ruiko asked in confusion.
"Ah yes, you would be to young to remember the stories. The creature you saw last night has a name. In America he is called Godzilla, and here in Japan, we call him Gojira. In some towns it roughly means, God Incarnate" Yuri explained.
"Godzilla, Gojira? I don't understand. Are you saying this isn't the first time this creature has been seen?" Ruiko asked.
Yuri shook her head "No. Sadly I don't know all the details since records of the first time Gojira showed up are few. But the first time he attacked Japan was in 1954. Less than a decade after Japan was devastated by the nuclear strikes. All records I've been able to get my hands on claims he was killed. And yet, just last night he showed up here in Academy City".
"I... never heard about that. And I normally like looking up old legends" Ruiko admitted.
"Well it happened decades ago, and stories about all events eventually fades away with time. And wouldn't surprise me if it was simply covered up since no one ever believed Gojira would ever return, and that Japan would be better of if it simply forgot all about him. A bad idea as you can see" Yuri said.
"I see... but I hate to tell you this, but I know nothing that you could write about" Ruiko admitted.
Yuri smiled "Don't worry about it, I only needed you to confirm my suspicions. Now that you have, there is no reason for them to question you. I will talk to them and have you out of here in no time".
Ruiko couldn't help but to smile "Thank you, Ms. Tachibana".
Yuri only nods before getting up and walked out of the room. And she kept her word, and Ruiko was allowed to go back to her life again... but everyone's lives was sure to have been changed by this.
When Ruiko got out from the interrogation, her friends were there to great her. With the certain flower girl being the first to run up to her "Saten, are you ok?".
"Well I am as ok as I'm gonna get for now. A nice reporter made sure I could leave early. Saved me from who knows how many hours of interrogation" Ruiko said.
"So, did they have any ideas what that creature was?" Mikoto asked.
"Well it's hard to explain. Can we get something to eat first? I am starving" Ruiko said.
Thankfully since Godzilla's attack was rather isolated and hadn't damaged any other areas, most shops were still allowed to remain open, as long as they had a safe distance from the attack zone. So the girls could get some much needed food in their belly. As they ate, Ruiko explained everything she could, it wasn't much, but at least now they knew what to call the monster that attacked.
"Gojira... God Incarnate. Well that isn't scary at all" Kuroko said in a sarcastic tone.
"A monster that attacked Japan back in 1954. But why now? Where has it been all these decades?" Mikoto asked.
"I have no idea. The reporter told me that Gojira was killed back then and then faded in to legends" Ruiko said.
"Then for all we know, this might not even be the same Gojira that attacked all those decades ago" Kazari said.
Kuroko thinks a little "Well that would explain why it took so long before Gojira showed up again. Still that doesn't really matter now. What matters is that a giant monster is out there, and there is a chance it could come back".
"And if it does, we have no idea how to defend ourselves against it" Kazari added. There was a silent moment before the flower girl decided they needed something to cheer them up a bit, luckily she knew what "Hey, today a brand new robot is going to be revealed. Thankfully Gojira's attack didn't force them to cancel the event. Maybe we can go see it?".
"Well, we have nothing better to do. So sure, I don't mind checking out a new robot" Mikoto admitted.
"Yeah, it honestly sounds kind of fun" Ruiko added.
"Why not" Kuroko finished.
With that they finished their food and headed to the spot where the new robot would be shown. They were not the only ones that needed a little distraction from Godzilla's attack. A lot of people were there, so the four friends needed to get to a higher spot if they were gonna have any chance of seeing anything.
Soon a man walked up on stage and everyone fell silent "Hello everyone, my name is Goro Ibuki. I know recent events have left us all more than a little shaken. But I hope our newest invention will help raise your spirits again. Believe it or not, I had this idea ever since I was a little kid. Back then I really wanted to create something that was more than just a machine, I wanted it to feel alive, to feel special, and being able to help people through hard times. This remained just a dream for years until I finally got the resources and funding I needed to bring my dream to life. Now, without any further delays. I introduce you all to: Jet Jaguar!".

Suddenly music and a song began to play. And a colorful robot walked up on stage. It was clear his looks was made to make him easier to look at for children. It was even likely he was meant to entertain children. Well it was working, people smiled at the robot who gave friendly waves to the crowd and even elligant bows. He even did a simple robot dance to the tune of the song, only stopping when the song was over.
The railgun crew smiled at the show. While it may not have been something spectacular, it was still good enough to raise their spirits for a bit. Kazari tried to get a closer look, but the railing suddenly gave away. The notice and Kazari's scream made Jet Jaguar look up and saw what was happening.
Kazari fell and from that height she would be badly injured. She shut her eyes, bracing herself for the impact... only to feel someone catch her. She slowly opened her eyes and gasped when she noticed Jet Jaguar was holding her bridal style... what's more, they were still in the air. Jet Jaguar could fly! That was another little surprise, but not an unwelcome one, as he did just save the flower girl from a nasty fall.
Jet Jaguar slowly descended to the ground and carefully put Kazari down "Umm... thank you" Jet Jaguar checked to make sure she wasn't hurt and Kazari simply smiled "I'm fine, thank you for saving me".
Jet Jaguar gave her a thumbs up before flying back to the stage where Goro began to speak "I will admit, I wasn't planing for that to happen. But now you all got a first hand demonstration of what Jet Jaguar was made to do. Protect everyone he can".
People began applauding as Kazari's friends reached her, relieved that she was alright. Well so far they were sold on the idea that Jet Jaguar was a protector. Still just how much will he be able to protect them from?.
Elsewhere a pair of scientists were working on something. It was no secret that pollution was a real problem and countless lives could be lost if nothing was done about it. So these people has been spending over two years creating something that could get rid of the pollution. They had a small pool full of garbage and a lot of dangerous materials that are still infecting the seas today. And they even pumped in a lot of toxic smoke that had been spilling from to many factories.
With everything set up, they leased something in to the polluted water and then waited... after a little while, the pollution was starting to slowly disappear, being absorbed but the stuff they had released to clean it up. Much to their excitement.
"It's working!" A woman said.
"Indeed. Come on let's leave it to do it's job. We will check back tomorrow to see if it has fully cleaned up everything" A man said.
The woman nodded "It's really amazing. It's almost as if it was alive".
"Wouldn't that be something. If we created a brand new life form, then we will have succeeded in something far greater than simply removing pollution" The man said as they walked out.
Little did they know, as the hours passed, the thing they created absorbed more and more of the pollution... but it wasn't actually destroying the pollution and soon it began glowing... then... in the middle of it all... a blood red eye opened up.

Alright that was the second chapter done, and now the important set ups for the story is done. As you can tell, yes there will be other monsters in this story, as well as the machines. Already brought in Jet Jaguar and I teased the next monster in the end. Long time Godzilla fans might know what monster that is.
