A Blessing In Disguise?

Mikoto's vision was black, but she could hear a beeping sound. One beep, then a quick break before another. She knew where the sounds came. They came from a heart monitor. She slowly began opening her eyes and saw a white sealing. She couldn't move just yet, but she knew she was in a hospital. She tried to remember what happened before she blacked out. She remembered Godzilla had returned to the city, and wanting revenge for what happened to Ruiko. So she foolishly tried to fight him, only to learn that even her full power was useless against the massive monster. She lost... and was sent in to a river, where she would've either have drowned or bleed out. She would've died if not for a familiar robot showing up.

Mikoto took a few breaths, hoping to wake her body up a little more. And she managed to look to her side and saw Kuroko... leaning on the bed, sleeping and holding Mikoto's hand. Mikoto couldn't help but to smile. Of course her perverted best friend would be right next to her. She could always count on Kuroko. Said girl slowly began waking up. She sat up and yawns before looking at Mikoto... and then got wide eyes.

"One-Sama?" She spoke silently.

"Hi..." Mikoto managed to get out, her throat was dry "Can I... have some water?".

Kuroko quickly got her a cup with water "Here, but drink slowly. Your body is still recovering".

Mikoto allowed Kuroko to help her drink, and she soon felt a little better "Thank you... how long have I been out?".

"A whole week" Kuroko answered in a sad tone "They said it was a miracle that you were even alive".

Mikoto got wide eyes. A whole week? Godzilla messed her up more than she thought. Still, she was alive, so at least that was good. But she could only imagine how worried her friends must've been. She was so mad at herself for doing something so stupid. Godzilla could've killed her easily, and he almost did. All because of Mikoto's stupid need for revenge. She knew better than to head out without a real plan, and without knowing just what she was up against.

"I'm sorry... Kuroko... I was so stupid. I went to fight a monster that was clearly to powerful for me... and I almost died. And I know the pain that would've caused you. I'm sorry" Mikoto said in a sad tone.

Kuroko smiled at that "Apology accepted. But never do something like that again. I was super worried".

"I promise I will never be that stupid again. What about Uiharu?" Mikoto asked.

"Oh, that reminds me. I have a surprise for you!" Kuroko said happily before teleporting out.

Mikoto was confused before she got wide eyes as the door opened. Kuroko and Kazari walked in, but they were not the ones Mikoto was reacting to. Kazari was pushing someone in a wheel chair. And that someone just happened to be the reason why Mikoto went out to fight Godzilla in the first place.

"Saten?" Mikoto asked in surprise.

It was indeed Ruiko Saten, she looked weak, but she was alive and awake "Hi there Misaka. Nice to see you made it".

"Never mind me, what about you?" Mikoto asked.

"I'm fine. They managed to safely extract the strange energy that Gojira poisoned me with. But it left me very weak, so I still require a lot of Physical therapy. But other than that, they said I should make a full recovery" Ruiko explained.

Mikoto sighed in relief "Thank goodness... we were all really worried about you".

"And I you. Not fun to hear after I woke up from my coma, you had fallen in to your own. Heard you tried to fight Gojira" Ruiko said.

"Yeah, not my smartest idea. That monster was much more powerful than I could've imagined... my strongest attack did nothing to it. It was like I was hitting him with a soft pillow" Mikoto said, remembering her one sided battle with the monster.

"Stupid, yes. But you might've done more good than you might expect" Kazari said.

Mikoto looked at her in confusion "What do you mean?".

"While we were waiting for you to wake up, we were approached by some people that are working on finding a way to stop Gojira. They didn't tell us much, but wanted to speak to all of us as soon as you and Saten had recovered enough for it" Kuroko explained.

Mikoto wondered who these people could be. Mikoto and Ruiko needed a few more days before the hospital could allow them to meet these new people. But soon enough, all girls were brought to a room were two people were waiting. One of them was a middle aged man who showed clear signs of being a scientist. The other one was a young woman, who had a strong aura around her, clear sign she was not your normal lady.

"You must be the girls we were sent here to meet. Please, take a seat" The man said, and the railgun crew did as told "Allow us to introduce ourselves. I am Genshiro Shiragami, head of the main biological scientists in Japan".

"And I am Miki Saegusa, I work with teaching young psychics to better use their abilities" The woman said with a friendly smile.

"Wait, I've heard about you two! You are very big names within your professions" Kazari realized.

"Your higher ups wanted nothing but the best to handle this Gojira crisis" Genshiro said before he began explaining "My expertise in biology made me the ideal man for trying to figure out Gojira's unique biological make up. And Miki here was the best choice for trying to figure out how his mind works, and to see if he could potentially be more intelligent than we might believe".

"So what do you need us for?" Mikoto asked.

"Because you, Mikoto Misaka and Ruiko Saten, are the only known people that has survived an encounter with Gojira" Miki answered.

Ruiko and Mikoto shared a look before Ruiko spoke "Not sure how much of a help we will be. I only saw him once and became sick from it".

"And I may have fought him, but I got by butt handed to me and almost died" Mikoto added.

"Both are important encounters. And you two have already helped more than you can imagine" Genshiro said.

"What do you mean?" Ruiko asked.

"You both were infected by Gojira's energy, and thankfully the doctors were able to remove it from your bodies. Thanks to you both, we can finally trully study Gojira's biology. And also thanks to you, we discovered a brand new energy" Genshiro said.

"What kind of energy?" Kazari asked.

"That's the thing. We are not sure. At first we believed it was some kind of radiation, but it's something different entirely. What we do know is that it's very powerful. That is why it was so dangerous to Misaka and Saten. Not really because the energy was possessions, but simply because human bodies have not evolved to handle it" Genshiro explained.

"The energy were slowly tearing your bodies apart from the inside. But according to the people who removed it from you, the energy was actually making your both stronger. Problem was it made you to strong, and your bodies couldn't contain it" Miki added.

Both Mikoto and Ruiko had no idea what to say to that. They became stronger, but also being to strong? And Godzilla's energy was something completely new? This was a lot for them to process, and they still weren't sure what more they could do to help these people.

"I understand this is a lot to take in. But since your bodies are the only ones that has survived exposure to it... it is possible you both are going to notice some changes" Miki said.

"But you said they removed the energy from us" Mikoto reminded.

"They did, but not before the energy had began fusing with some of your DNA. They removed the energy that was causing your harm, but there was no way to remove all of it without the risk of killing you. Tell me, Ruiko Saten. How are you feeling right now?" Genshiro asked.

Ruiko was confused but began moving her body a little... she got wide eyes stood up from her wheelchair "H-how? Just an hour ago I could barely stand at all!".

"As we suspected. One could say you have gained the smallest portion of Godzilla's physical abilities" Genshiro said.

"Wait, does this mean we are going to mutate in to large monsters that breaths fire!?" Mikoto asked in worry.

"No, we don't believe so. Like I said, human bodies would not be able to handle a mutation of that scale. And since most of the energy was removed, we believe the biggest changes is that you can recover a lot quicker than normal. Which confirms our belief that Gojira has great regenerative abilities" Miki said.

"This is all really fascinating and all. But I have a feeling this isn't the only reason why you are here" Kuroko said.

Genshiro sighed at that "You're right, and this brings us to the real reason why we came here... the higher ups wants Misaka and Saten to be a part of the G-Force".

"Wait what? G-Force?" Mikoto asked.

"G-Force is part of the United Nations Godzilla Countermeasures Center. Turns out Gojira was more widely known that we thought. Survivors of his first attack all those decades ago began planing for his return. Their plans would ultimately lead to a special task force that took years to create. It brings in help from several different countries, and has remained secret for when Gojira's possible return. And now that he is back, it's time for them to officially reveal themselves to the world, and continue on working on a way to stop Gojira before he destroys everything else" Miki explained.

All the girls were stunned, before Mikoto spoke up "Wait, why would they want middle schoolers to join them?".

"Normally they wouldn't. They prefer to get the most trained and experienced people they can find. But non of them has experienced a direct encounter with Gojira. Misaka, Saten, you two have met Gojira and lived to tell about it. And you both have been effected by his energy. This is something they do not want to waste just because you are young" Genshiro explained.

"Do we have a choice?" Ruiko asked.

Miki nods at that "Yes, you can refuse if you want, no one is going to force you in to it".

"But we need your answer now. The country, and maybe even the world, needs your help. So please, think about it carefully. There won't be another chance for us to talk if you decide to say no, and there will be no changing your minds" Genshiro added.

Mikoto and Ruiko began to think. After a while they looked at their friends, and then each other. They shared a nod before looking back at the two adults.

"Alright, we will join. On one condition" Mikoto said.

"Name it" Genshiro said.

"Shirai and Uiharu here are our friends, and we aren't going anywhere without them. So if the G-Force wants us, they will have to take them too. Both are trained Judgment members, and Uiharu is a master with computers. So they either take our whole gang, or they get nothing at all" Ruiko said.

Miki smiled at the strong bond between the four friends "I will talk to them, I am sure your terms won't be to much of a bother for them. I look forward to working with all of you".

"Thank you for this. I am sure the whole world will earn you all a great dept" Genshiro said before both he and Miki got up and left the room.

Safe to say, the girls' lives had taken quite the interesting turn.

Meanwhile, at a location that was known for containing a lot of garbage and toxic waste... things had taken a dark turn. All the workers had been turned to nothing but dry bones, and all the pollution and toxic wastes were being absorbed by the deadly monster. The insult to everything natural had absorbed everything, making itself even bigger than before.

It let out a sound before it continued on it's hunt for mot pollution. Godzilla was not the only monster people would need to watch out for.

This chapter was made as a celebration to the fact we FINALLY got something new from Godzilla Vs Kong. Sure it was only a 3 seconds peek, but it was still a hell of a lot better than nothing. If we are lucky, we might get our first real trailer soon. So Fingers crossed for that.
