Ash's Pokemon Journey
Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user (He'll find out about being a psyphic and Aura user later). I do not own pokemon.
Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.
Chapter 64
Rustboro Gym, the Devon
Corporation and Mr Briney
The gang had finally made it to Rustboro City and Ash couldn't wait to battle in his first hoenn gym battle. The gang met the gym leader, Roxanne, yesterday and she was a teacher at the pokemon academy in Rustboro City. The pokemon academy was a school where children and young adults went to learn about pokemon. There was a beginner's class for children, younger than ten, class where you could learn about being a pokemon coordinator, a class where you could learn about being a pokemon doctor and a class where you could learn about pokemon battles. And today Ash was going to battle her for a badge.
Rustboro Gym nearly looked like Pewter Gym because the building was modelled to look like a big chunk of pointy rocks, and even the battlefield was a rocky one. There were cameras put up because Roxanne liked to film her challenges so that she would show them to her pupils to give them examples of gym battling. Some of Roxanne's students were dealing with the camera and they loved to watch Roxanne's gym battles. "I must say Ash," said Roxanne "I hear that you are going to be entering contests as well as gym battles am I right?" "That's right" said Ash. He took out his ribbon case and showed Roxanne the Rustboro Ribbon. "When I entered the Rustboro contest I found it rather fun, so I decided to do both gym battles and contests here on my hoenn journey". "I understand that because I like being both the gym leader of this gym and being a teacher at the pokemon academy," said Roxanne "so I wish you luck in both gym battles and contests". "Thank you" said Ash. May explained about her decision of become a pokemon coordinator, and Roxanne wished her luck too. "So Ash you ready for our gym battle?" asked Roxanne. "You're right I am" said Ash.
Ash and Roxanne took their places on the battlefield, and Tomo, Brock, May and Max sat on a bench at the side. "This is exciting; seeing a gym battle for the first time" said Max. May explained that she and Max were never allowed to watch their dad whenever he had challengers because he thought that May and Max may disturb the challenges. "I understand that because when I was small I wasn't allowed to watch my dad's gym challenges either," said Brock "besides gym leaders to need to be strict when they have a challenge". The referee explained the rules about the gym challenge being a two on two pokemon battles, and the trainer who defeats all two pokemon first wins. The cameras started filming and then the gym battle began.
Roxanne sent out a Geodude to battle first, and Ash sent out Treecko. "Why is Ash not using Mudkip, as Water type beats rock type?" asked Max. "It's to save his secret weapon for last," said Brock "you see sometimes it's usually the best to save your strongest pokemon for last, because you can never tell what you'll be up against in a pokemon battle". "Oh I see" said Max. Ash ordered Treecko to use quick attack to start things off with. Roxanne ordered her Geodude to use mega punch on Treecko. "Block it with iron tail Treecko" said Ash. Treecko and Geodude hit each other directly with iron tail and mega punch. "Okay Geodude use rollout" said Roxanne. As Geodude rolled its way towards Treecko, Ash commanded Treecko to use dragon breath. Treecko's dragon breath attack hit Geodude, but Geodude still managed to tackle Treecko with rollout. But then Geodude started to feel all numb and paralyzed; dragon breath had the ability to paralyze the opponent sometimes. "Try to use rock throw Geodude" said Roxanne. "Use bullet seed Treecko" said Ash. Treecko and Geodude struck each other with bullet seed and rock throw, and then both Geodude and Treecko fell down in defeat. So the first match ended in a tie. "Wow both Geodude and Treecko lost in this round," said May "will Ash be okay?" "There's no need to worry May," said Tomo "my brother has fought in twenty gyms before, and so he knows how to deal with gym battles". "Tomo is right," said Brock "besides Ash isn't the type of trainer who gives up easily".
Roxanne returned Geodude and sent out a Nosepass next.
Ash looked at Nosepass on the pokedex: Nosepass, the compass pokemon. Its magnetic nose always faces north and draws iron objects to its body to protect itself better.
"Nosepass sounds like an interesting pokemon to me," said Brock "I think I'll catch one for myself yes". Ash sent out Mudkip to battle next. "Nosepass will defiantly lose against Mudkip" said Max. "That depends though on how well Roxanne fights with her Nosepass," said Brock "you see you should never underestimate what type of pokemon you face, because trainers work hard to help their pokemon beat the opponents that their pokemon can't normally defeat". "Yeah and they can learn moves that can help beat their opponents," said Tomo "like some water pokemon can learn ice type attacks that beat grass type pokemon, or some electric type pokemon can learn fighting type moves that beat rock type pokemon". May and Max noticed that they really did have a lot to learn about being pokemon trainers.
Roxanne commanded Nosepass to use sandstorm, and Mudkip got surrounded by a terrible sand storm. Nosepass had no trouble with finding out where Mudkip was because its nose was like a compass and so Nosepass could tell where Mudkip was. "Escape this sandstorm with dig Mudkip" said Ash. Mudkip dug into the ground to escape the sandstorm. "That's a clever way to escape I must say," said Roxanne "but Nosepass will tell where your Mudkip is hiding". She was right; Nosepass' compass nose helped it locate where Mudkip was hiding. "Okay Mudkip come out and use water gun" said Ash. Mudkip jumped from out of the ground and struck Nosepass with water gun. "That's a bull's-eye" said Max. "Yeah, but Nosepass is not beaten yet" said Brock. "Okay Nosepass let's use zap cannon" said Roxanne. Ash was surprised that Roxanne's Nosepass knew an electric type move. "Mudkip dodge that zap cannon attack quickly" he said. Mudkip jumped out of the way just before Nosepass' zap cannon attack could hit him. "Now use water gun Mudkip". Mudkip struck Nosepass hard with water gym, and this time Nosepass fainted from the direct hit. So Ash was the winner of the gym battle.
May and Max were impressed by this. "So this is what a gym battle is like" said Max, excitedly. Roxanne and the students walked up to Ash. "I must say Ash you really know how to deal with gym battles" said Roxanne. "Well that's because I've battled in other gym battles before" said Ash. "The video of today's match will defiantly give my students a good example," said Ash "and now Ash I present to you the Stone Badge". The Stone Badge was yellow and yellow-brown coloured and it was shaped like a rectangle with two of its corners more emphasized than the others. Ash was happy to have won his first Hoenn gym badge and now he needed seven more badges to enter the Hoenn league.
After the Rustboro Gym had been dealt with, the gang was taking a break in the pokemon center. Ash was phoning Prof Oak to ask how his new hoenn pokemon were, and May was planning a shopping trip the city. Brock and Tomo were looking through the guide together to see where they need to go next. Max was spending time with Zigzagoon, Linoone, Poochyena and Shroomish. "Guys when I'm old enough to be a proper pokemon trainer, we shall challenge gyms and collect badges too just like Ash is," he said "but while we are traveling on a journey now, we shall catch some more pokemon friends okay?" His pokemon nodded to say yes. Max had already planned on what to do on this journey; his plan was to capture more pokemon for himself, especially normal type pokemon, and learn whatever he can about being a pokemon trainer. "The truth is my dream is to take my dad's place as the new gym leader of Petalburg Gym," said Max "so let's get strong together to make my dream come true". His pokemon spoke to say yes.
At that moment Tomo was checking out his pokenav, but it didn't seem to work; when he tried to push the button to turn it on it wouldn't work. "Are the batteries dead?" asked Brock. "Not the batteries are fine, but I don't know what's wrong" said Tomo. Ash, who had just finished his phone call, heard the commotion. "Hey what's going on" he asked. "My pokenav isn't working," said Tomo "it doesn't turn on when I press the button". Ash had a look at it. "The pokenav must be jammed then," said Ash "don't worry Tomo I know what we can do about it. When Prof Oak gave me the pokenavs he told me that they were made by a company called the Devon Corporation, and the company is here in Rustboro City so we can go there and see if we can get it fixed". "Okay" said Tomo. Max wanted to go to the Devon Corporation with Ash and Tomo too and Ash agreed. "Okay Ash," said Brock "you, Max and Tomo go to the Devon Corporation and I'll meet you two there when I'm done with my shopping". "I'll meet you there too," said May "I'm going to do some shopping myself". So Brock and May went off shopping, while Ash, Tomo and Max set off for the Devon Corporation.
The Devon Corporation building was the biggest building in Rustboro City, and Ash, Tomo and Max had no trouble finding it at all. "Wow what a big building" said Max, surprised with how magnificent the Devon Corporation building was. "I read on the computer that the Devon Corporation is famous for creating things like the pokenav and other things" said Ash. "Cool I hope we get to see some of the things they make here" said Max. "Yeah but first we need to see if we can have Tomo's pokenav fixed first" said Ash. So the boys went inside the building and asked the lady at the reception desk if they could get Tomo's pokenav fixed. "I'm sorry boys," said the lady "but I'm afraid we don't do repairs here". "What? You're kidding" said Ash. "So now what we do?" asked Tomo.
Before Tomo's question could be answered, an elderly man in a smart suit and a male security guard came up to the boys. "Is there a problem here?" asked the security guard. Ash explained about Tomo's pokenav not working. "We think the button is jammed, so we came here to try and get it fixed" said Ash. "May I take a look at the pokenav please?" asked the man in a smart suit. Tomo gave the man his pokenav. "Yes this pokenav is jammed," said the man "but we can easily get it fixed". "Really? Thank you" said Tomo. The man revealed himself as Mr Stone, the president of the Devon Corporation. "How about I show you around the place while we get your pokenav fixed" he said. Ash, Tomo and Max were delighted and accepted the offer at once. Ash explained to the security guard about his friends May and Brock. "They said that they would meet up with us here after they finished shopping". "I understand," said the security guard "I'll tell them where you are after they arrive".
So Mr Stone gave Ash, Max and Tomo a tour of the Devon Corporation. "I must ask sir," said Max "what do you create here apart from the pokenav?" "All sorts of different inventions" said Mr Stone. He explained that they made different pokeballs, medicines and inventions. "What inventions do you have?" asked Tomo. "Well one of our inventions is a pokemon producer," said Mr Stone "that machine brings a pokemon fossil back to life". "Really?" asked Ash "that's cool because Cinnabar Island in Kanto has a lab that brings a pokemon fossil to life too. My friend Brock went there to have his Kabuto and Omanyte back to life from their fossils". "Wow that's so cool," said Max "I'll have to ask him about that". Mr Stone also told the boys that they had created a Pokemon Dream Projector, which makes a visual projection of pokemon, a Pokemon Transformer, which turns people into pokemon, and a Pokemon Speaker, which allows communication with pokemon. "None of them work yet," said Mr Stone "but we are still working on them to succeed". "This is one amazing building" said Max.
Meanwhile May and Brock had finished their shopping by now and had arrived at the Devon Corporation. The security guard met up with them and told them that they were with the president at the moment. "So we'll wait here until Ash, Tomo and Max get back then" suggested Brock. Just then an Officer Jenny entered the building. She informed the security guard that there were a report about a thief was lurking about in Rustboro City, and she feared that he might steal something from the Devon Corporation. "We better inform the president at once" said the security guard. He and Officer Jenny went to tell the president at once, and Brock and May followed them.
At that time, Mr Stone, Ash, Tomo and Max were following someone in a lab coat. Mr Stone said that he knew every face of his employees, and this man was not one of them. "I must say," whispered Ash "I sense something bad about this guy". "And that's why we shall follow him" said Mr Stone. They followed the man all the way up some stairs, which lead to the roof of the building. Suddenly Max tripped and the man noticed their presence and ran up the stair quick. "I think that guy's a thief" said Ash. He, Max, Tomo and Mr Stone ran after him. Mr Stone contacted the security guard on his mobile and told him what was going on. The security guard had just got word that a sample from the pokemon producer machine was stolen, so there was a chance that the man was responsible for the theft. "I know a shortcut to the roof" the security guard said to Officer Jenny, May and Brock, and they went at once.
Right now the man had made it too the roof and Ash, Max, Tomo and Mr Stone had caught up with him. "The game's up!" shouted Mr Stone "now give back the sample you stole!" "Not a chance" smirked the man, and he released a big lobster type pokemon from a pokeball. "That's a Crawdaunt," said Max "a water and dark type pokemon". Ash ordered Pikachu to use thunder on the Crawdaunt and the Crawdaunt got fried. The man returned Crawdaunt to the pokeball, but he wasn't willing to give up yet. He had a rocket propelled glider with him and was about to get away by using the glider. "Oh no you don't!" shouted Ash. He used his psychic power to stop the man in his place. Tomo explained to Max and Mr Stone that Ash had psychic powers, and of course Max and Mr Stone were surprised that Ash had that sort of power. Just then the security guard, Officer Jenny, May and Brock turned up and they saw what Ash was doing. May was speechless to know that Ash had psychic powers.
Officer Jenny called her men and they arrested the man and returned the sample that he had stolen. "That man is someone from Team Aqua" said Officer Jenny. She explained to the gang about two criminal organizations that cause trouble in the Hoenn region called Team Aqua and Team Magma. "I take it they are as bad as Team Rocket who cause trouble in the Kanto region?" asked Ash. "Yes they are," said Officer Jenny "and if you kids ever see them please contact me at once". "We will" said Brock.
That evening the gang had dinner with Mr Stone. "I was speechless when I saw you using your psychic power Ash" said Mr Stone. "Well the truth is I have a psychic ancestor named Celeste and I ended up inheriting her power" said Ash. "That was cool when you did that," said Max "what else can you do?" "I can communicate with all of my psychic pokemon through telepathy and I can create barriers to protect me when I'm attacked," said Ash "I've been practicing my psychic power ever since I realized that I had it". "Well you are an amazing kid Ash" said Mr Stone. Mr Stone told the gang about his son Steven Stone, who was also traveling on a journey. "Right now he is on Dewford Island". "Dewford Island?" said Ash "hey that's where we are going to so I can get my next gym badge". "Well if you are, then give Steven my regards while you're there" said Mr Stone. "We will" said Ash. Mr Stone gave Tomo back his pokenav, which was now working again, so Tomo was happy now.
That night, when Tomo, Max, May and Brock were asleep, Ash was communicating with Mewtwo. Ever since Officer Jenny told him about Team Aqua and Team Magma, Ash had the feeling that he and the others might end up seeing them again. "Be on your guard with Team Aqua and Team Magma Mewtwo," said Ash "I have the feeling that these two criminal organizations will do something bad". "I understand Ash," said Mewtwo "and contact me whenever you hear more about theme". "I will" said Ash.
Ash of course had no idea what Team Aqua and Team Magma were like, but he knew that he had to be on his guard; especially since he and his friends had to deal with Team Rocket lots of times before. But all he could think of now was continuing his journey in the Hoenn region.
The next day the gang was figuring out what to do now. They had missed the ferry and there was no other ferry for another few hours. The truth is there were two harbors in Rustboro City; one was an old deserted harbor and the other a new built modern harbor. The gang was hanging out at the old deserted harbor. "I guess what we can do is relax for a bit and then we head off to the new harbor to catch a boat" said Brock. "We might as well," said Ash "except there's nothing really here to do". "I know I'm going to have a walk round on the pier, so I'll see if there are any more boats for us to get to Dewford Island on" said May, and she walked off. "What May is going to do is walk along the beach," said Max "she always go crazy when it comes to beaches".
Suddenly there was a noise coming from the sky. The gang looked up and saw a colony of white and blue bird pokemon flying in the sky. "Those are Wingull" said Max.
Ash looked at his pokedex: Wingull, the seagull pokemon. It soars high in the sky, riding on updrafts like a glider. It carries food tucked in its bill.
"Those pokemon look cool," said Tomo "I'm going to catch one for myself". He sent out his Farfetch'd to battle; he retrieved Farfetch'd from Prof Oak's lab earlier. "Farfetch'd use aerial ace on one of the Wingull" said Tomo. Farfetch'd charged towards the colony of Wingull. All of the Wingull flew away, except one. The Wingull attacked Farfetch'd with water gun. "Don't give in Farfetch'd," said Tomo "strike back with slash". Farfetch'd slashed at Wingull and then Wingull fell towards the ground. Tomo pulled out an empty pokeball and captured the Wingull. "All right we did it Farfetch'd!" cheered Tomo. He was happy with his new capture.
Max decided he would like a Wingull for himself too, and luckily enough there was a stray Wingull sitting on the pier. "Hey Wingull I'm going to catch you" said Max, and he called out Linoone. The Wingull heard Max and Linoone, and it got ready to fight. "Okay Linoone use swift" said Max. Wingull got hit by a lot of stars and then it swooped down to use aerial ace. "Counter it with headbutt Linoone" said Max. Linoone and Wingull charged at each other and then tackled each other hard. Wingull became flinched by the headbutt and couldn't do anything. Max tossed a pokeball at the Wingull and caught it. "Yeah we've captured a new friend Linoone!" cheered Max, and he hugged Linoone. Ash and Brock were happy for Max's and Tomo's captures.
Just then May turned up. "I met an old man named Mr Briney and he said that he would get us to Dewford Island in his boat" she said. The boys were delighted to hear that. Max told May of his capture of Wingull. "Mr Briney has a Wingull too called Peecko" said May. May led the way to Mr Briney's place and he had his boat ready. His boat was built in the shape of a Wingull. "You lot ready to set sail to Dewford Island?" asked Mr Briney. "Yes we are," said May "and we thank you for this". "It's no problem," said Mr Briney "I may be a retired old sailor, but that doesn't been I've stopped sailing across the seas. Besides I've travelled to many places in my time like you youngins".
So thanks to Mr Briney, the gang was finally on the way to Dewford Island.
To help you readers understand; Mewtwo will be taking part in when Lance and the gang take down Team Aqua and Team Magma. Max won't be starting to collect gym badges until he's left the group after the Battle Frontier sage; he'll start back in the Hoenn region.
