Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user (He'll find out about being a psyphic and Aura user later). I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Team Aqua and Team Magma,

Phoebe and Dewford Gym

Ash, Tomo and Brock were enjoying their new journey in the Hoenn region, and so was May and Max even though this was their first journey. They had been to new places, seen and caught Hoenn pokemon and met different people. The one thing that was bothering Ash was Team Aqua and Team Magma, who the Officer Jenny in Rustboro City told them about. He could tell that these teams were bad news, except he hadn't met Team Magma yet, and he still wondered what they were really like; were they like Team Rocket or not?

Right now Ash and the gang were training along a beach on another part of Dewford Island. They were jogging along the beach, with Brock being in charge. Brock, Ash, Tomo and Max were doing well, but May, not being a fan of sports, wasn't enjoying herself. Suddenly Brock told everyone to stop; he saw a man climbing up the edge of a cliff. The man was Prof Birch and he was looking at a Wingull's nest. Unfortunately for him, the Wingull was not happy with him peering in her nest, and she pecked at him until he fell of the cliff. Luckily for Prof Birch he landed in some trees which managed to break his fall, so he didn't end up very hurt.

The gang was surprised to see Prof Birch and asked him what he was doing. "I was studying a Wingull's nest;" Prof Birch explained "Wingull build nests on edge of cliffs". "Ah I understand," said Ash "it's your way of studying pokemon and their habitats right?" "That's correct;" said Prof Birch "the best way to study pokemon is to be up close where the action is instead of seeing them from a distance, that's my opinion". "It's Prof Oak's opinion as well" said Tomo. "So tell me what brings you all here?" asked Prof Birch. Ash explained that they were doing some training for the Dewford Gym. "I see," said Prof Birch "and how as your journey been so far?" "It has been fantastic" said Max, and he started to talk about what he and the others had gone through so far.

Meanwhile, in a cave, Jessie, James and Meowth were hanging around in a secret base. A secret base was a special area that people could create in caves, special shrubs and special trees. Jessie's Granbull knew secret power and secret power had the ability to create secret bases. "Ah it's so good to have a place where we can relax," said Jessie, who was resting on a sun bed, "and we won't need to worry about anything here". "Except the fact there aren't any good pokemon here for us to send to the boss" said Meowth. "Oh don't put your tail in a twist Meowth," said Jessie "there are still plenty of places here in the Hoenn region to look for rare pokemon. So just relax". Meowth didn't think that he could relax. "Jessie's right," said James, who was on a computer, "there are still places that we haven't been yet, so our time in Hoenn isn't over yet". Meowth just sighed.

Jessie and James thought that there was nothing to worry about at the moment, but they were wrong. Outside the cave a helicopter was coming in to land, and there was a submarine that just rose out from the sea. The Helicopter had a bid red and black mark that looked like a big capital M; this helicopter belonged to Team Magma. The submarine had a big white mark that looked like a skull and cross bones, but with a spike on top; this submarine belonged to Team Aqua.

Back with the gang, the gang had just finished telling Prof Birch about what they had gone through on their journey so far, and they told him about the new pokemon they had captured. "Wow you kids seem to have got into quite a few adventures," said Prof Birch "and I hope you are in the mood for an adventure today". He explained that he was going to visit a cave that was just up ahead and asked the gang if they would like to join him. "Let's do it," Max said, at once, "it won't be every day that we'll get to explore somewhere with Prof Birch". The others agreed too, and Prof Birch led the way to the cave. What he didn't know was that the cave was where Jessie, James and Meowth had built their secret base.

Back in the secret base, Jessie and James were enjoying themselves. But then they heard the sound of drilling coming from outside their base. "Hey what's that noise?" asked Jessie. Before her question could be answered, a group of men in red and black clothes barged into the secret base; they were members of Team Magma. "Hey what's the big idea!?" shouted Jessie. "Yeah this is our place, so get out!" shouted James. They released all of their pokemon; Arbok, Cloyster, Wobbuffet, Granbull, Sneasel, Seviper, Wurmple, Loudred, Weezing, Vileplume, Victreebel, Jumpluff, Chinchou, Teddiursa and Cacnea to battle. Meowth joined in to. The Team Magma grunts called out a lot of Mightyena, Golbat and Houndoom from their pokeballs. Meowth and the other pokemon put up a good fight against the Mightyena, Golbat and Houndoom. The Team Magma grunts had enough and recalled their pokemon, and then they left the secret base. "Hey we won!" cheered Meowth. "Yeah, but now our secret base isn't secret anymore," said Jessie "we'll have to have a new secret base somewhere else". "Yes and I've got the feeling that those Team Magma grunts are still here in the cave," said James "we should follow them and see what they're up to". Jessie and Meowth agreed to James' idea.

Meanwhile Prof Birch and the gang were inside the cave and Prof Birch kept an eye out for any pokemon. "What pokemon do you usually see in this cave?" asked Max. Before Prof Birch could answer, Growlithe and Pikachu saw a grey and white insect, with pale green wings, and it wasn't looking very happy. "That's a Nincada" said Prof Birch.

Tomo looked at Nincada on the pokedex: Nincada, the trainee pokemon. It grows underground, sensing its surroundings using antennae instead of its virtually blind eyes.

"This Nincada doesn't look happy to me" said Ash. He asked it what was wrong, and the Nincada spoke to Ash. "Nincada says that some people are drilling in this cave". "If there are people drilling then something must be up," said Prof Birch "we should check this out". Ash asked Nincada if it could show them the way to where people were drilling, in the cave, and Nincada agreed.

Right now the Team Magma grunts were looking around some sort of ancient ruins. A man, who was also a Team Magma member, was giving orders to the grunts. Jessie, James and Meowth saw them, while hiding behind some rocks. "Who in the world are they?" whispered Jessie. "I reckon these people are Team Magma" said James. He explained to Jessie and Meowth that he heard some policemen talking the other day about Team Magma and about Team Aqua. "Gosh," said Meowth "but then if they are Team Magma, then where is Team Aqua?" As soon as Meowth said that a woman and some men, wearing scuba diva gear, jumped out of the water. They were wearing blue, white and black clothes and they looked like pirates; they were members of Team Aqua. "Does that answer your question now Meowth?" asked Jessie.

At that moment Prof Birch and the gang arrived and they saw Team Aqua and Team Magma too. "So they're Team Aqua and Team Magma" said Ash. "I've heard of them," said Prof Birch "they cause trouble, with their pokemon, where ever they go". Ash didn't like the look of them one bit.

The man from Team Magma and the woman from Team Aqua began to speak with each other. "Well, well, so what brings you here Shelly?" asked the man. "I shall ask you the same thing Tabitha" said the woman. "Team Magma is here to explore these ruins and we got here first so please leave" said Tabitha. "The ones who will be leaving will be you and your team," said Shelly "and Team Aqua will explore these ruins". Prof Birch and the gang listened to what Shelly and Tabitha were saying. "It's obvious that Team Aqua and Magma know each other," said Ash "but they are not on terms with each other. I sense hatred and a real rivalry between them". Prof Birch and the others didn't like the sound of that. Shelly and Tabitha continued to talk. "I'm afraid you won't find the power that you seek here, unless you have found the blue orb" said Tabitha. "So does that mean you have the red orb?" asked Shelly "ha the power of the sea will prevail over the power of the land". "You should never underestimate the power of the land Shelly" said Tabitha. Just then a grunt of Team Magma told Tabitha that the ruins were just plain ruins that people worshipped in a long time ago. "So this place isn't the Cave of Origin" said Tabitha, and he told his men to retreat. Shelly told her men to retreat too; Team Aqua was also looking for the Cave of Origin. Then Team Aqua left by jumping back into the sea and Team Magma left on their drill.

Prof Birch and the gang were puzzled with what Tabitha and Shelly had been talking about. "What are the blue and red orbs and what's the Cave of Origin?" asked May. "I don't know about the red and blue orbs," said Prof Birch "but the Cave of Origin is a hidden cave that is said to be located here in Hoenn. But even I don't know where that is". "If Team Aqua and Team Magma are that keen on finding that cave, then it can't be good" said Brock. Prof Birch agreed. It was not time to get out of the cave. Tomo captured the Nincada from earlier because he thought it was a cool pokemon. "That was certainly an adventure today," said Prof Birch "even though we ended up seeing Team Aqua and Magma". "We better watch ourselves though;" said Ash "I have a feeling we will be ending up meeting with Team Aqua and Team Magma again". "If you kids do, tell Officer Jenny at once" said Prof Birch. The gang promised that.

Meanwhile Jessie and James and Meowth were also talking about Team Aqua and Team Magma. "From how that man and woman were talking about the powers of land and sea, I'd say that they were really power hungry" said Meowth. "Yes and since those two were the commanders, I'd hate to think what their bosses are like" said James. "Boys for Team Rocket's sake, we stay well away from Team Aqua and Magma, agreed?" said Jessie. "Agreed" said James and Meowth together.

So the gang had encountered Team Aqua and Team Magma at last. Question is what did Team Aqua and Magma plan to do.

The gang had some more little adventures with Prof Birch; they had walked into a forest that had wild Seedot. Seedot were grass pokemon and they looked like acorns and Ash caught one for himself. Also while travelling in the forest, May's Silcoon evolved into Beautifly and Ash's Silcoon and Cascoon evolved into Beautifly and Dustox, which made Ash and May happy. They had also run into a wild Loudred that wasn't well and Brock used his knowledge of medicine to help Loudred. Loudred was grateful to Brock and wanted to go with him, so Brock had a Loudred for his own.

Right now Prof Birch and the gang were going to visit an old abandoned coal mine. "Is it okay for people to visit the mine?" asked May. "Yes there's no need to worry May," said Prof Birch "lots of people have explored in there before and there has never been any accidents". May still felt nervous, but Max reassured May that Prof Birch would never take them to a place that was dangerous.

When they reached the mine, they saw a crowd of people and some police were stopping people from getting in. "What's going on?" asked Ash. "I don't know, but I'm going to find out" said Prof Birch. Prof Birch asked a policeman what was wrong and the policeman explained that there have been reports of ghost pokemon roaming about in the mine and they kept scaring people away from the mine. "Then that means the ghost pokemon have made this mine their territory" said Prof Birch. "Then it's a good thing that I came here then" said a voice.

The voice belonged to a black haired woman, who wore pink flowers and a red bracelet round her feet. "It's Phoebe of the elite four!" shouted someone. Everyone was surprised to see Phoebe, especially Prof Birch. "What brings you here Phoebe?" asked Prof Birch. "I heard the rumors of ghost pokemon lurking about in this mine, so I came here to investigate" said Phoebe. Phoebe specialized in ghost type pokemon. The gang was surprised to see an elite four member of Hoenn, especially Max and May. "It's been a while since we've seen an elite four member right Tomo and Brock?" said Ash. "It certainly has" said Brock. "Wait you three have met elite four members before?" asked Max. Brock explained about the time when he, Ash, Tomo and Misty met Lance in Johto. Tomo explained about the time when he, Ash, Misty and Tracey met Lorelei in the Orange Islands. Ash explained about the time when they met Bruno, when he trained his pokemon in the mountains before the Indigo League. Max felt jealous of them. Prof Birch introduced Phoebe to the gang. "You kids like ghost type pokemon?" asked Phoebe. "Yes" said Ash and he told her about his Gengar and Misdreavus. Brock, Tomo and Max said yes too, and May nervously said yes because she was easily scared by them. Phoebe invited them and Prof Birch to join her of exploring the mine, and Prof Birch and Ash, Tomo, Brock and Max accepted the invitation. May decided to stay behind as she wasn't fond of ghost type pokemon. So Phoebe, Prof Birch, Ash, Tomo, Brock and Max went into the mine together.

It was dark in the mine, so everyone had to wear helmet's that had lamps on them. "Do you think that the ghost pokemon are living here because this mine is abandoned and no one works in it anymore?" said Ash. "It's a good possibility," said Prof Birch "ghost pokemon are famous for living in old caves, mines, ruins and buildings that have been abandoned. But it is best that we find what's going on in this cave, especially the since the pokemon are frightening people away". "Ghost pokemon don't really mind intruders much," said Phoebe "but sometimes people disturb ghost pokemon too much. So these ghost pokemon probably don't want the tourists to disturb them, which would explain why they frighten them off. You lot better have pokeballs ready, in case we do run into any trouble with the ghost pokemon". "Got it" said Prof Birch and the boys together.

Suddenly they saw three ghost pokemon, but they looked hurt. One was purple and had blue, gem shaped, eyes and a red jewel on its tummy, the second ghost pokemon looked like a shadowy puppet, and the other ghost pokemon looked like a phantom. "That's a Sableye, Shuppet and Duskull" said Phoebe. Ash, Max and Tomo ran over to see if the three pokemon were okay. "Hey what happened to you three?" asked Ash. The Sableye spoke to Ash. "What did it say Ash?" asked Max. "Sableye said that there are miners down here and they are using all the ghost pokemon as their slaves" said Ash. "Using ghost pokemon as slaves?" said Phoebe "that's outrageous! We should sort this out at once". Prof Oak and the boys agreed. Ash asked Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet to take them to where the miners were and the three ghost pokemon did just that.

Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet led the humans further down the mine until at last they came to an area of the mine, where the miners were. There were lanterns, pickaxes and wagons everywhere and ghost pokemon were coming in and out of the mines walls. There were six men and they had some dark pokemon with them; three Houndoom, an Umbreon, a Sneasel and a Mightyena. Max noticed that there were gold nuggets in the wagons. "I get it," said Prof Birch "those miners must have found the gold nuggets in the mine and they're using the ghost pokemon to find them and to scare everyone else away to keep their gold mine a secret. And I bet those dark pokemon are to keep the ghost pokemon in order since dark beats ghost". "Yeah well I'm not letting them get away with it" said Phoebe, crossly. She told Max and Tomo to go and get the police and asked Prof Birch, Ash and Brock to help her with the miners. Max and Tomo ran back, with Shuppet, Sableye and Duskull, to the entrance of the mine.

Phoebe, Prof Birch, Ash and Brock ran towards the miners. "That's enough!" shouted Phoebe "I will not allow you to enslave these ghost pokemon anymore". "Neither will I!" shouted Prof Birch. The miners were not happy that there were intruders and they sent their pokemon to attack. "Houndoom use flamethrower!" shouted one of the miners. "Sneasel use Blizzard!" shouted another. "Use crunch Mightyena!" shouted another. "Use dark pulse Umbreon!" shouted another. Phoebe called out a Sableye and told it to attack with shadow ball. Brock sent out Forretress and told it to use signal beam, and Ash commanded Pikachu to attack with thunderbolt. Mightyena, Umbreon, the three Houndoom and the Sneasel were defeated in no time. At that moment the police arrived on the scene and arrested the miners. "What's going to happen to the mine now that gold nuggets have been located here?" asked Max. "Well we'll have proper miners come here and work here," said a policeman "and we'll be using the gold nuggets for all sorts of things for the Hoenn region". Everyone was happy to know that the mine would be all right now.

When Phoebe, Prof Birch, Ash, Brock, Tomo and Max exited the mine, they told May all about it. "You missed an exciting adventure May" teased Max. "I prefer getting into adventures that don't involve dark, spooky places" replied May. Phoebe thanked Prof Birch and the gang for their help. "We are glad to have helped," said Prof Birch "and it was an honor meeting an elite four member". Just then the Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet turned up. "Hey what are you three doing here?" asked Ash. The three ghost pokemon spoke. "I think they want to go with you three," said Phoebe "I understand a ghost pokemon's feelings well, and I can tell that they like you three, Ash, Tomo and Max". The boys stared at each other and smiled; they agreed to have the ghost pokemon on their team. Ash captured Sableye, Tomo captured Duskull and Tomo captured Shuppet.

After that the gang said good bye to both Prof Birch and Phoebe. Prof Birch had to leave to get back to his lab in Littleroot Town, and Phoebe had to leave for business. After saying good bye to them, Ash and the gang set off for Dewford Gym. Ash decided that it was now the time for him to challenge the Dewford Gym.

Today the gang had now made it to Dewford Gym. Dewford Gym looked like a big house. "Are your Taillow and Ralts ready for this?" asked May. "Yes they are thanks to some training and practicing" replied Ash. Taillow and Ralts weren't ready for the gym yet, when the gang first got to Dewford Island, but now they were.

Ash was about to knock on the gym's door, but then a man with light blue hair and holding a surf board turned up. "Hello there," the man said "here for a gym battle?" "Yes we are," answered Ash "are you the gym leader?" "That's correct, my name is Brawly" said the man. "Well Brawly, my name is Ash and I wish to challenge you," said Ash "but what's the surf board for?" Brawly explained that he loved surfing and surfing was his way of training himself and his pokemon, especially when his pokemon are dodging attacks. "That way of training reminds me of when I challenged the Cianwood Gym leader Chuck," said Ash "especially when he trained by having a fight with his own fighting pokemon". "Wait you know and challenged Chuck?" asked Brawly. "Yes and I won a badge" said Ash. Brawly explained that he used to be a student of Chuck's and that it was Chuck that inspired him to be a gym leader of fighting type pokemon. "Well I certainly can't wait to battle you Brawly" said Ash. "When then Ash, let's do it" smiled Brawly.

Ash and Brawly took their places in the gym's battle stand and Brock, Tomo, May and Max sat down on a bench to watch the match. The gym referee explained that this was a two on two pokemon battle. Brawly sent out a Machop to battle first and Ash sent out Taillow to battle first. "Taillow would have the advantage of Machop because flying beats fighting pokemon" said Max. "Yes but let's see how Brawly battles" said Brock.

The match now began. Ash ordered Taillow to attack Machop with wing attack, and Brawly ordered Machop to counter attack with karate chop. "Peck it Taillow" said Ash. While Machop was distracted by Taillow's wings, Taillow managed to peck at Machop. "All right then Machop use cross chop" said Brawly. Machop's arms glowed white and it formed a cross with the arms. "Quick use double team" said Ash. Taillow managed to multiply himself before Machop could strike him with cross chop. "You sure know how to put up a good fight dude" said Brawly. "I've fought fighting types before and I know perfectly well that fighting types are no push overs" said Ash. "Is that true?" May asked Brock. "It is," said Brock "fighting types can also show no mercy when they are in a serious battle". "Gosh I hope Ash's Taillow and Ralts can handle it" said May. "Okay Taillow lets use aerial ace" said Ash. Taillow charged into Machop with aerial ace and Machop was hurt by that. "That Taillow of yours is good," Brawly said to Ash "okay Machop use karate chop again". "Quick attack Taillow" said Ash. Taillow tackled Machop with quick attack just before Machop could karate chop him, and then Machop fainted. The first match went to Ash. "Taillow did it!" cheered Max. "The training that Ash did with Taillow paid off," said May "and he has one more pokemon to beat". "Yeah but we don't what the next pokemon is and nor do we know what it's like" said Brock.

Brawly returned Machop and sent out his last pokemon. This pokemon was a light yellow color with black markings and two red circles on the cheeks. And it looked like a sumo wrestler.

Ash looked at the pokemon on the pokedex: Makuhita, the guts pokemon. It toughens up by slamming into thick trees over and over. It gains a sturdy body and dauntless spirit.

Ash ordered Taillow to attack Makuhita with aerial ace, but then Makuhita easily dodged by rolling its body. Taillow tried again, bur Makuhita dodged it again. "I take it that's what the training with surfing is for right?" asked Ash "it's to help your fighting pokemon learn how to dodge a pokemon's attack like how surfers dodge waves so not to get hit by them, right?" "You are one smart dude," said Brawly "but this ends now". He ordered Makuhita to use arm thrust and Taillow got hit multiple times and then fainted. So Brawly won this match. "Wow that Makuhita is good, considering it doesn't move that well" said Max. "Brawly trains his fighting type pokemon well," said Brock "even if the training is with surfing".

At that moment Makuhita began to glow and then it grew into a bigger version of itself. It was now a big hulky pokemon, with two big three fingered hands, dark blue markings on the head and between the eyes, dark blue legs and a yellow sort of skirt around the waist. "Makuhita evolved into a Hariyama" said Max.

Tomo looked at Hariyama on his pokedex: Hariyama, the arm thrust pokemon. The evolved form of Makuhita. It loves to match power with big-bodied Pokémon. It can knock a truck flying with its arm thrusts.

"I think Ash should use a different pokemon," said May "I don't think Ralts can handle this, even if it is a psychic type". "Yeah but knowing Ash, he probably won't change his mind" said Brock. Brock was right; Ash did call out Ralts to battle next. "You ready to battle Ralts?" asked Ash. Ralts, being an emotional type pokemon, could feel that Ash was all charged up in this battle so she was too.

The match began. Brawly ordered Hariyama to use arm thrust but Ash ordered Ralts to use teleport to dodge the attack, and Hariyama missed Ralts. Ralts kept on using teleport over and over again to confuse Hariyama. "I've had Ralts practice teleport lots of times to perfect it" said Ash. Brawly thought that this was indeed a clever move. "Okay Ralts let's use magical leaf" said Ash. Ralts released multiple glowing green leaves from her arms and the leaves hit Hariyama. "Hariyama use knock off" said Brawly. Hariyama slapped Ralts hard with one of its hands. This was bad; knock off was a dark move.

"Don't give up Ralts" called out Ash. Ralts wasn't beaten yet.

Suddenly Ralts began to glow and then she grew into a bigger version of herself with a white sort of tutu, green hair with two red horns like hair pins and long green legs.

Ash looked at her on the pokedex: Kirlia, the emotion pokemon. The evolved form of Ralts. It is highly perceptive of its Trainer's feelings. It dances when it is feeling happy.

"Okay Kirlia let's use confuse ray" said Ash. Kirlia's eyes glowed purple and then Hariyama became confused and started hitting the ground. "Why s Hariyama hitting the floor?" asked May. "Confuse ray makes a pokemon confused," said Brock "and since Hariyama is confused it doesn't realize that it's just hitting the floor". "Okay now's our chance Kirlia use psychic" said Ash. Kirlia's eyes glowed blue and then she released a light blue energy wave from her arms at Hariyama. Hariyama got a direct hit and fainted. So Ash was the winner of the gym match.

Ash was happy and he hugged Kirlia at once, which of course made Kirlia happy at once. Brawly returned Hariyama and walked up to Ash. "I have to say dude, you are one strong pokemon trainer," he said "and so I will give you the Knuckle Badge". The Knuckle Badge looked like a boxing glove and was blue with an orange spot. Ash accepted the badge and thanked Brawly.

Now that Ash had the Dewford Gym badge, it was now time for the gang to leave Dewford Island. Ash presented out a piece of paper to the gang. "This is a list of where the pokemon contests here in Hoenn are being held," he said "and the nearest one is in Slateport City". "Really?" asked May "then we should go there then. I'm going to enter this one". So the next stop was for Slateport City for the next pokemon contest.

Sorry for the long wait; I was busy with other things. Before you readers ask, yes the jade orb and Rayquaza will be featured in this story. I don't understand why they made some differences about the red orb for Kyogre and the blue orb for Groudon because that's not how it goes in the games, so I've put it right. I did say that Jessie and James still have Arbok and Weezing and yes, James still has Victreebel. Ash should have gotten Sableye in the anime. I decided to do the gym later as Taillow and Ralts weren't ready yet at first, and I wanted to do it in the gym not on Brawly's training area. The other elite four members of Hoenn will be featured in the story. I meant to have explained that Ash met Bruno when he trained some of his pokemon in the mountains before the Indigo league, but it slipped my mind my apologies.
