Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user (He'll find out about being a psyphic and Aura user later). I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Chapter 73

Solrock and Lunatone,

The injured Swablu and

The Cottonton Contest

It was a hot day today, and the gang was feeling thirsty and drinking out from their water canteens. "We'll need to find some more water soon," said Brock "my canteen is nearly empty and I still feel very thirsty". The others were still so thirsty too. Brock looked through his map guide to see if there was any place around where they could get some more water. "Ah it says that there is a spring and a village not far from here," he said "so we can get a nice drink and some rest for a while". "Thank goodness, I've had enough of travelling with this hot heat" said May. When the gang reached the spring, they found out that the spring had no water. They went to the village to see if there was any water there, but the village stream had no water and neither did the village well. "Now what are we going to do?" complained May "there's no water anywhere and I'm still very thirsty".

Just then a young woman came up to the gang. "Excuse me," she said "are you all travellers?" "Yes we are," answered Ash "we were hoping to get some water here, but we noticed that there's no water here". "I am sorry about that; the truth is we have been suffering from a terrible drought lately which caused our stream to somehow dry up," said the woman "and if it doesn't rain soon, everyone one in this village may have to leave". The gang felt sorry for the village. "Please excuse me, but do you have any drop of water left?" asked May. "I still have some water at my place" said the woman.

The woman, who was called Mary, took the gang into her house and introduced them to her grandmother. Mary's grandmother was wearing a lily pad shaped hat on her head. Mary explained that the people in the village worshipped the pokemon Lombre. "That's right," said Mary's grandma "in fact the water spring outside our village has a shrine that's dedicated to Lombre". "We saw that spring earlier, but it was dried up too" said May. "When did this drought start?" asked Ash. Mary explained that a few nights ago a meteorite fell out of the sky and landed somewhere near the shrine. Then Mary's grandma explained that two pokemon, a Solrock and a Lunatone, were roaming about the forest. "It makes me wonder if they might have something to do with the drought". Brock looked thoughtful. "It is true that both Solrock and Lunatone are rock type pokemon, as well as psychic type," he said "but I doubt there's no way they would cause a water shortage like that". "May I suggest we go talk to them Brock?" asked Ash "since they've been roaming around the forest, they might know what's causing the water shortage". Brock thought that was a good idea and so did Mary. "Okay Ash, Brock, you and I will go to find Solrock and Lunatone," said Mary "Grandma, you say here with the others". "Okay, but be careful Mary" said her grandma.

So Ash, Brock and Mary went off into the forest to find the Solrock and Lunatone. "Do you think that the Solrock and Lunatone will listen to what we have to say?" Mary asked Brock. Mary had never seen a Solrock or Lunatone before so she didn't really know what they were like. "Well as I said those two pokemon are psychic types as well as rock types," said Brock "so what they'll do is look into our minds to see if we are telling the truth". "Don't worry Mary, Brock and I have met up with lots of psychic type pokemon before" said Ash.

Just then two pokemon turned up. One of them was orange, with yellow spikes and black eyes, and it was shaped like a sun; this was Solrock. The other was cream coloured, with pink eyes, and it was shaped like a crescent moon; this was Lunatone.

Ash looked at Solrock and Lunatone on his pokedex: Solrock, the meteorite pokemon. When it rotates itself, it gives off light similar to the sun, thus blinding its foes. Lunatone, the meteorite pokemon. Because it turns active on nights of the full moon, it is said to have some link to the lunar phases.

Ash bravely walked over to Solrock and Lunatone and told them about the village suffering a drought and a very low water shortage. "Do you think you can help us know why there is a water shortage?" Both the Solrock and Lunatone touched Ash on the forehead and they showed him a vision. The vision showed Ash five men sucking out water from a stream with some sort of machine, then it ended. Ash told Brock and Mary about the vision. Mary was horrified by this news. "Did the vision show where the men are Ash?" asked Brock. "Yes, they are in some sort of cave" answered Ash. "I know what cave that is," said Mary "it's near where we are standing now". "Then you better take us there now Mary; there's no doubt that those men are going to do something with the water" said Ash. Mary agreed.

Mary led Ash and Brock to the cave in the forest. Just then Brock heard a pumping noise. "We'll follow that noise because it might lead us to the missing water" he said. Brock was right; he, Ash and Mary came to a big water tank van and it was pumping up water. "Who on earth would do something like this?" said Mary. Just then there was some laughing going. "Quick we better hide" said Brock. They quickly hid behind some big rocks.

The laughter came from the five men, who Ash saw in the vision. "It's them!" Ash whispered to Mary and Brock. One of the men checked out the water tank. "It's nearly full" he said. "Great Bill" said another man. "Hey Carlos, what should we do with all the water?" asked a third man. "Simple Burt, we are going to sell it" said Carlos. "Oh I get it, we are going to sell it in the shops to make money right?" said a fourth man. "Correct Simon" said Carlos. "Where shall we start selling them Carlos?" asked the fifth man. "We'll think about that later Humphrey," said Carlos "right now we just need to get all this water ready to sell in the shops".

Ash, Brock and Mary were not happy with what the five men were doing. "Oh no you don't!" shouted Ash "that water doesn't belong to you!" The five men noticed them. "What shall we do now Carlos?" asked Burt. "We fight them of course stupid" answered Carlos. The five men released a pokemon each. Carlos released a Mightyena, Bill released a Ninjask, Burt released a Duskull, Simon released a Shiftry and Humphrey released an Electrike. Brock took out his Mudkip, Lotad, Aggron, Fortress and Loudred. Ash released Shroomish, Dustox, Corphish, Torkoal and Taillow and of course Pikachu joined in. Seeing ten pokemon against five pokemon made Burt, Bill, Humphrey and Simon feel defeated but Carlos wasn't willing to give up. Carlos ordered all of the five pokemon to attack. But Mightyena, Ninjask, Duskull, Electrike and Shiftry easily got defeated by Ash and Brock's pokemon. "We won't give up that easily" growled Carlos. He and his men were about to get into their truck, but then they all got stopped by psychic attacks.

Ash, Brock and Mary turned round and there was Solrock and Lunatone. "You came to help us?" asked Brock. The two pokemon nodded to say yes. "I'm going to get my grandma and the other villagers to tell them what have happened" said Mary. She quickly ran back to the village and told everyone what has been happening and then everyone ran to the cave and some of the villagers tied up the five men with very strong rope. "You five scoundrels will be thoroughly punished!" scowled Mary's grandma. Ash and Brock got to work of releasing the water from the tank back into the stream at once.

The villagers were all grateful to Ash and Brock. "I cannot thank you two enough for all of your help Ash and Brock" said Mary. "I'm glad we were able to help," said Ash "but you should really thank Solrock and Lunatone. If it wasn't for them we would never have known about the five men". "I agree with that" said Mary. Solrock and Lotad were still with them. Mary and the villagers thanked the two pokemon with all their heart.

Brock's Lotad, who was still outside its pokeball, began talking to Solrock and Lunatone. "Looks like Lotad has become friends with those two pokemon Brock" said May. Brock agreed. Suddenly Lotad began to glow and then he grew into a bigger version of himself. Lotad was green all over, with arms and legs with orange fingers and toes. He even had a bigger lily pad on his head and his lips were also orange. "A Lombre" said Max.

Ash looked at Lombre on the pokedex: Lombre, the jolly pokemon. The evolved form of Lotad. It has a mischievous spirit. If it spots an angler, it will tug on the fishing line to interfere.

Solrock and Lunatone congratulated Lombre on its evolution. Seeing his Lombre become close friends with Solrock and Lunatone made Brock decide to catch Solrock and Lunatone so that they would be friends always. So he asked the two pokemon if he could catch them and they agreed.

So everything was all right in the end. Mary and her village got back their water. Brock's Lotad was now a Lombre and Brock had a Solrock and Lunatone of his very own.

It was a horrible, stormy day today and the gang was taking shelter in a cabin. "Phew what a storm" said May, drying her wet hair. The gang had got caught in the rain before they entered the cabin. "Ah Tomo, Brock and I have seen worse, haven't we?" said Ash. "You're right Ash" said Brock. "Yeah the worst storm that we had in the past was the type that could ruin a whole island" said Tomo. "You're right" said Ash.

Suddenly there was a thud on the door. "What was that?" asked May, in fright. "Must be somebody knocking asking for shelter" said Brock. Max bravely opened the door to see who knocked, but it wasn't a human; it was a pokemon. This pokemon was a blue bird and it had white wings that looked like cotton. "Guys look it's a Swablu and it looks very hurt" had Max, picking up Swablu. Brock examined it at once. "It's got a broken wing," he said "it must have got struck by the storm". Brock got out his medical kit from his bag at once. Ash found a stick near the cabins fire place. "Will this do as a splint Brock?" he asked. "Yes that's perfect to hold Swablu's wing in place while it heals". Brock gave Swablu some medicine and bandaged its wing. "Okay, now Swablu just needs to rest and then it will be fine," he said "and since the storm isn't letting up soon, we should get some rest ourselves". "I agree with that idea because I do feel a little tired my-self" said Ash. So it was agreed; the gang got some rest.

While everyone else was asleep May kept on keeping an eye on Swablu. She found it adorable. "Let's check you out Swablu" she whispered.

She opened up her pokedex: Swablu, the cotton bird pokemon. Swablu loves cleanliness and is quick to wipe off any unclean surface with its cotton-like wings.

"You could be helpful with me cleaning my bedroom at home Swablu" she chuckled. Then she fell asleep too.

Everyone, including Swablu, slept through the whole night until it was the next day. The storm had stopped by then and it was a beautiful day today. Swablu was feeling much better by then. Brock took off the splint and bandage to check Swablu's wing. "How is it Brock?" asked May. "Well it looks a whole lot better now, so it should be safe for it to fly again" answered Brock. Everyone went outside so that Swablu could try to fly again, but Swablu felt a bit stiff to fly because of its injury last night. Ash knew what to do; he sent out Taillow to give Swablu some wing exercises. Together Taillow and Swablu flapped their wings, until at last Swablu was able to fly off the ground again. "All right you're flying again Swablu!" cheered May. Swablu flew down onto May's head and it looked like a second cap. "Looks like Swablu is attracted to you May" chuckled Max. May begged Swablu to get off her head.

Soon it was time for the gang to leave. May started to say goodbye to Swablu, but Swablu didn't want her to go. "Hey May, if it doesn't want to leave then it's a good idea that you catch it," said Max "besides Swablu's evolved form Altaria is very beautiful of course". "You're right, I remember seeing an Altaria before" said May. So May agreed with Max's idea and she captured the Swablu. Swablu's pokeball transported to Prof Birch's lab because May already had six pokemon on her.

With the storm over and May's capture of Swablu the gang continued on their journey.

Today the gang had come to a town called Cottonton Town and it was famous for its cotton and wool. Apparently their wool and cotton was the softest in all of Hoenn. But the gang wasn't interested in that; they were interested in the contest that was held today and May and Ash had just signed up. "Okay Pikachu this time I will use you for this contest" said Ash. "Pikachu!" cheered Pikachu. Pikachu wanted to have a chance to be in a contest. May decided to use an electric pokemon too and she picked Minun this time. "If I win this I will have three ribbons" said Ash. "Same with me" said May.

Suddenly there was a smirk from behind them. "You two are entering with electric types?" said a voice. A voice belonged to a young woman with long blonde hair. "Yes we are using electric types," said Ash "problem with that?" "Not of course," said the woman "I too will be using an electric type. But seriously your puny Pikachu and Minun won't stand a chance against my electric type pokemon". "I take it that means you will be using an Electabuzz right?" asked Ash. "You're a clever boy" said the woman. Ash was correct; she was going to use Electabuzz. "I'll see you kids in the contest" said the woman, and she walked off. "Who in the world was that woman?" asked Tomo. "I've heard of her," said Max "her names is Angelica and she thinks herself as the princess of electric type pokemon". "So she's an electric type pokemon trainer" said Brock. "Yeah but get this," said Max "they say that she only owns the toughest pokemon like Ampharos, Jolteon, Raichu, Magneton, Manectric and Electabuzz. As for the others well she condemns them weak, especially Pichu and Elekid". "Oh yeah, well Pikachu and I will have to teach her a lesson then," said Ash "Pikachu has fought an Electabuzz before so we know what to do". "I don't though; I've never battled an Electabuzz before" said May, worriedly. "Don't worry May, just do what you can in this contest" encouraged Brock. "What I'm surprised about is that she hadn't evolved her Magneton into a Magnezone" said Max. "What's a Magnezone?" asked May. Max looked on Magnezone on the computer to answer May's question. Magnezone looked like a flying saucer and it had a red eye as well with a normal eye on each side of its body and it had three big magnets. Ash suggested that Angelica probably didn't know about Magnezone. He also suggested that Angelica didn't know that Electabuzz could evolve into an Electivire. Electivire nearly looked the same as an Electabuzz, only bigger and it had two long black tails as well as black fingers. "If she doesn't know about Magneton and Electivire then seriously, she still has a lot to learn about electric pokemon" said Max.

Later that day it was time for the Cottonton contest to begin. Vivian showed off the Cottonton Ribbon after doing the usual announcement; this ribbon was white with a light blue outline. May was out first and she called out her Minun. The judges and audience were surprised to know that May's Minun was shiny. "Okay Minun use swift" she said. Minun fired some stars out from its body. "Now use shock wave Minun". Minun gathered up some blue electricity and then released it to hit the swift attacks. The stars burst into little yellow particles of light and there were also blue particles of light because of the shock wave attack. "Wow that that was a good way to use Minun" said Max. "Yeah May has learned how to work with electric pokemon" said Brock. May got a score of 26.5.

A few contestants after May it was now Ash's turn. "Let's do this Pikachu" said Ash. Pikachu jumped off Ash's shoulder and ran onto the stage. Ash had eight small china plates in his hands. "Iron tail Pikachu" he said, tossing the plates into the air. Pikachu smashed the plates as quick as he could with his iron tail attack. "The way that Pikachu strikes those plates is like a sword against an enemy attack" said Tomo. "Yeah, Ash has put Pikachu's tail to good use in this contest" said Max. "Now Pikachu show them your electricity" said Ash. Pikachu charged up electricity in his cheeks and then fired it off for a finish. Ash got 27.5. After Ash was Angelica's turn. She did use an Electabuzz and she showed off her Electabuzz's thunder punch and thunderbolt attacks, by having her Electabuzz fire thunderbolt fist and then attacking it with thunder punch. "Goodness me, she really likes showing off her skill as an electric type trainer" said Max. "Yeah; this will be tricky for both Ash and May" said Brock.

Ash and May saw Angelica's performance. "That Electabuzz may be hard to beat Ash" said May, worriedly. "Yeah, but that doesn't mean we should give up though" said Ash. "Your right" said May. The results came in; six contestants made it to the second round and May, Ash and Angelica were three of them. Ash, May and Angelica were both against the other three contestants in the first battle round, but it showed that May might end up fighting against Angelica in the second battle round. "Oh dear, then I will be battling Electabuzz" said May, seeing the results. "Oh don't May, just do what you can," said Ash "but do not use electric attacks on it because Electabuzz have the ability to absorb electric attacks". "Okay" replied May.

Ash, May and Angelica easily defeated their opponents in the first round, and then it was time for May to battle Angelica. May's Minun and Angelica's Electabuzz were out on the stage. 'Okay so I must remember not to use electric attacks like Ash said' thought May. "Okay Minun use swift". Minun fired a lot of stars at Electabuzz and Electabuzz got hit by them. "You call that an attack, well watch this" said Angelica. She ordered Electabuzz to use thunder wave and Minun got struck by the thunder wave attack and became paralyzed. "Oh no" said May, who knew that being paralyzed can make it difficult for a pokemon to move. "Now my darling Electabuzz use focus punch on that rodent" said Angelica. May told her Minun to try and dodge, but Minun was too paralyzed to move. Then Electabuzz threw a strong punch at Minun. "I get it," said Brock "Angelica's battling technique is paralyzing the opponent and then use strong moves next". "This isn't good for May" said Max. Max was right; Angelica ordered her Electabuzz to use thunder punch next and then Minun fainted on the spot. So May lost.

Ash saw everything in the battle. "Pikachu, we better watch out for that thunder wave" he said. Pikachu agreed. Now it was Ash and Pikachu's turn to battle Angelica. Ash ordered Pikachu to start off with iron tail. Angelica ordered Electabuzz to counter that with brick break. Electabuzz and Pikachu were striking each other as if they were having a sword fight. "Okay then use thunder wave Electabuzz" said Angelica. "Counter that with your own thunder wave Pikachu" said Ash. Pikachu fired his thunder wave against Electabuzz's thunder wave attack and the two attacks collided with each other. "Ash understands what Angelica's tactics are, so he's trying to prevent the same thing happening to Pikachu" said Brock. "I hope Ash can do this" said Max, worriedly. May, in the waiting room, was worried about Ash too. "Okay then Electabuzz use your thunder attack" said Angelica. "Use protect Pikachu" said Ash. Pikachu quickly created a bluish-green shield that protected him from the thunder attack. Angelica was starting to lose her patience. "All right then, Electabuzz use focus punch" she said. Electabuzz used its focus punch on Pikachu, and Pikachu got hit by it but he endured it. Just then sparks surrounded Electabuzz and it got paralyzed. "What happened?!" demanded Angelica. "Surely you, the princess of electric types, would know that Pikachu as the ability static like its evolved form, Raichu" said Ash. Angelica was not pleased and she ordered her Electabuzz to use thunder punch, but it was too paralyzed to move. "Ash certainly knows how to battle with Pikachu against another electric pokemon" said Max. "That's because Ash and Pikachu have battled together for a long time," said Brock "those two are a real fighting pair".

Just then the time for the battle round was up. The result was that Ash and Pikachu were the winners with a few more points than Angelica. Angelica was not happy with this. She returned her Electabuzz and left the contest hall in a huff. "That woman has still got a lot to learn about electric pokemon Pikachu" said Ash. Pikachu agreed. Ash was presented the Cottonton Ribbon, making this Ash's third ribbon.

After the contest was over with the gang had a rest in the pokemon center. "That Angelica was no match for you and Pikachu Ash" said Max. "Well truthfully that woman underestimated Pikachu so her loss was her own fault" said Ash. "I agree," said Brock "besides all pokemon are strong in their own way, whether they be fully evolved or not". "Yeah and Pikachu here is as strong as a Raichu" smiled Ash. Pikachu blushed from Ash's comment. "Maybe now Angelica will stop underestimating small electric pokemon like my Minun" said May. "Maybe, but we'll never know until we meet up with her again" said Brock. Ash was happy to have three contest ribbons, and now he needed another two more for the grand festival.

Sorry for the wait; I had trouble with deciding how to write this chapter. The Solrock and Lunatone is sort of based on the Taking the Lombre home episode a bit. I don't understand why Brock and May didn't capture the Solrock and Swablu they befriended in the anime. Angelica is my own made up character. Before anyone asks; yes Ash's Magneton will evolve to Magnezone but not until Sinnoh and Tomo's Elekid and Magby will become Electivire and Magmortar in the Sinnoh region.
