Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Chapter 88

The start of the Battle Frontier,

The Battle Factory and

Cerulean Contest

Ash, Tomo, Brock, May and Max were on their way now to Ash first Battle Frontier battle. Misty left the group just after Mt Moon to get back to her gym in Cerulean City. But the gang said they would come to Cerulean City after the first frontier challenge, because they found out that Cerulean City was holding a pokemon contest in a couple of days. "So Ash do you know where the first battle facility is?" asked May. "I don't," said Ash "this will be my first time going to the facilities. And Scott said that only the strongest trainers can go there, and I was nowhere near strong enough for the Battle Frontier when I first traveled in Kanto". "Your right Ash; a rookie would never be accepted to battle the Battle Frontier" agreed Brock. By now it was getting dark and the gang needed to find shelter for the night.

Suddenly there was a cold breeze in the air, and then there was a sound of a screech in the air. Ash looked up to the sky. "Hey it's an Articuno" he said. The gang was surprised to see Articuno. Just then they saw a biplane flying beside it. "Is someone trying to catch Articuno?" asked Tomo. "I don't think they are," said Brock "because Articuno is flying beside that biplane at ease, and normally Articuno always attack planes and other things if someone was trying to catch it". "So that Articuno must belong to the owner of that plane" said Max. The gang watched Articuno and the biplane until they were out of sight. "Can we please continue looking for shelter?" asked May, who was tired now.

It wasn't long before the gang found a pokemon center. "That's good," said Ash "we can ask Nurse Joy for directions for the battle facility in the morning". So the gang had a good night's sleep at the pokemon center and when the next day came Ash asked Nurse Joy for directions for the battle facility. "Ah a challenger for the Battle Frontier" said Nurse Joy. She was about to give the gang directions, but then she was stopped. Scott was at the pokemon center. "I will take them there" he said. Ash couldn't believe he was seeing Scott again and he introduced the others to him. "Pleased to meet you all," said Scott "and I will take you to the battle facility myself". Truth is Scott wanted to watch Ash challenge the Battle Frontier.

Scott had a red sports car and he gave the gang a lift, but he was a reckless driver and drove very fast. The gang didn't like his driving one bit, and when Scott finally came to a stop the gang felt like throwing up. Scott brought the gang to what appeared to look like a metal factory. "This is the first battle facility called the Battle Factory" said Scott. Ash was excited to battle his first facility challenge. But then a machine on wheels was driving out of control and the driver couldn't stop it. "Quick kids use your pokemon" said Scott. Ash called out Grovyle, May called out Combusken and Brock called out his Mudkip and together their attacks stopped the machine. A man dressed like a mechanic came out of the machine. "Thanks for that kids," he said "this thing doesn't listen to a thing I say". "Still working on your machines Noland?" asked Scott. "Yep and this one is the best" said Noland. Noland loved to create machines and drive them. A young man named Sergio, who was Noland's apprentice, ran up. "Still playing with this thing again?" he asked Noland. "It's my work Sergio" said Noland. Noland introduced himself to the gang and also called himself the Factory Head. That meant he was the frontier brain of the Battle Factory, and he was the one that Ash had to challenge. Ash introduced himself to Noland and asked for a battle. "Ah a challenger," said Noland "I accept your challenge Ash".

Noland had an unusual rule for the Battle Factory; the challenger got to choose which one of Noland's pokemon to battle. Noland had many pokemon; he had a Venusaur, a Machamp, a Pinsir, a Rhyhorn, a Breloom, a Rhydon, a Lairon, a Camerupt, a Sandslash, a Golduck, a Manectric and a Trapinch. But he also had one more pokemon that was a real surprise to the gang; he also had an Articuno. "Wow you have an Articuno?" gasped Max. "Well I didn't catch it so it's wild" said Noland. Noland explained that one night he was test flying his biplane; he loved to fly in biplanes. But then he came across an Articuno flying beside him and one of its wings was injured. "I had Articuno land on my biplane, and then after bringing it to land I helped Articuno heal. After Articuno was all healed up it comes to visit me regularly". "It is true," said Ash "even legendary pokemon accept a human's kindness, even if they do feel anxious around humans. I know because I've helped legendary pokemon before". Since Ash had to choose one pokemon to battle deciding which one would not be easy for him.

Max and Tomo asked Noland if they could fly in his biplane because they had never flown on a biplane before. Noland saw nothing wrong with that and soon he, Max and Tomo were flying in the sky in the biplane, and Articuno flew with them. "Wow Articuno looks so magnificent" said May. She had never seen Articuno before so she was happy to see one up close. Ash couldn't take his eyes off Articuno either. 'I've made up my mind' he thought.

After the riding in the biplane was over, Noland asked Ash if he had made up his mind with which pokemon to battle. "I wish to have a one on one battle with Articuno," said Ash "I have never battled with an Articuno before, so I wish to take this chance". Noland and Articuno agreed with Ash's decision. "What pokemon will you use Ash?" asked Scott. "This one" said Ash, taking out a pokeball. He tossed out his Lugia; he decided to have Lugia battle Articuno. Scott, Noland and Sergio were surprised to see that Ash had a Lugia. "My word Ash," said Scott "I can't wait to know what other pokemon you've got". "A battle between two legendary pokemon will be a blast," said Noland "so brace yourself Ash".

This was truly the start of Ash's challenge of the Battle Frontier.

Ash couldn't wait to battle Noland for his first frontier symbol. Right now he was flying in the sky on Lugia's back. "You are no longer a baby Lugia, Lugia," said Ash "you are now a fully adult Lugia". Lugia liked getting praised by Ash and he fired aeroblast and then hydro pump into the sky. "Yep you are a strong Lugia indeed," smiled Ash "and we will beat Noland".

Soon it was time for the frontier challenge. The inside of the Battle Factory was just like a factory and with a normal battle field. "Hope you're ready for our battle Ash," said Noland "because I won't be holding back". "Neither will I Noland" said Ash. Ash and Noland got into their battle positions and called out their pokemon Articuno and Lugia. Scott, Brock, Tomo, Max and May sat at the sidelines to have a better view of the battle. Scott couldn't wait to see how Ash battled. Just then the roof of the Battle Factory opened up; this was for flying pokemon to have more space while battling in the air. Sergio declared for the battle top begin and Articuno and Lugia took into the air at once.

Ash told Lugia to start things off with aeroblast. But Articuno dodged the aeroblast attack; Articuno was a fast pokemon. "You're fast too Lugia," said Ash "use swift this time". Lugia let out a lot of stars from his wings and most of the stars hit Articuno. "That's a great thing about swift," said Max "it never misses". "One thing you should know about Ash Scott is that he never gives up in a battle" said Brock. Scott was impressed. "Articuno use ice beam" said Noland. "Counter that with aeroblast quick" said Ash. The aeroblast and ice beam collided with each other and neither Lugia nor Articuno got hurt. Ash had to be careful with ice beam; one of Lugia weakness was ice. "Move in with steel wing" Noland said to Articuno. Articuno slammed into Lugia with steel wing. "Are you okay Lugia?" asked Ash. Lugia was okay. "Let's use sunny day". Lugia used sunny day and the sun shone brighter. "With sunny day Articuno's ice attacks will be weaker" said Max. "Yes but then again Articuno is a legendary pokemon," said Brock, "so sunny day would probably not weaken its ice moves much". Brock was right; Noland had Articuno use ice beam and this time Lugia got hit and hurt by it. "Lugia's weakened now" said Tomo, worriedly. "Use recover Lugia" said Ash. Lugia glowed yellow and he healed himself. "Phew thank goodness Lugia knows recover," said May "otherwise Lugia would be in trouble now". "Yeah but it can't keep this up for long" said Brock. Articuno was now flying all over the place. 'Articuno may be fast,' thought Ash 'but there is a move of Lugia's that Articuno won't be able to dodge'. "Lugia use psychic". Lugia's eyes turned blue and it made Articuno stop flying. "Ha Lugia has control over Articuno" said Tomo. "That's a good way to stop a pokemon" said Max. "Time to use thunder Lugia" said Ash. Articuno got a direct hit by Lugia's thunder attack and was seriously hurt. So hurt it flew down to the ground and started to pant. "As Articuno is a flying type as well as ice type, Lugia's thunder attack gave Articuno real damage" said Brock. Scott was impressed with how Ash was battling. 'It seems I was right to have Ash challenge the battle frontier,' he thought 'and I think he has what it takes to conquer the battle frontier". Articuno continued to pant but it couldn't battle anymore and fainted. "Articuno is unable to battle," said Sergio "the challenge goes to Lugia and the winner is Ash". "We did it Lugia!" cheered Ash. Lugia flew over to Ash and Ash rubbed Lugia's cheek.

Brock, Tomo, May and Max were happy for Ash. "Ash of all the challenges I've had, you gave me a blast of a challenge," said Noland "I like your battling style". "I found it fun battling with Articuno" said Ash. Sergio presented, what looked like a gold coin, to Ash. "This Ash is a frontier symbol that you only earn at the battle frontier" he said. "This one is called the Knowledge Symbol," said Noland "and its proof that you have beaten me". The Knowledge Symbol had three small diamonds on it. Ash was happy to have earned his first frontier symbol. Noland also gave Ash something called the Frontierfolio, which was a case where Ash could put his frontier symbols in.

When the battle was over, Articuno flew away. It was flew away from and came back again to the Battle Factory. Ash returned Lugia to his pokeball and sent him back to Prof Oak's lab. "Well now this is over," said Brock "we better head to Cerulean City". "That's right I nearly forgot that a pokemon contest is being held there" said May. Scott learnt from the gang that both Ash and May were entering the Kanto contests and he wished them luck. Scott also pointed out to Ash that the next battle facility was called the Battle Arena and it was near Saffron City. So the plan was to head to Cerulean City and then for Saffron City.

The gang said goodbye to Scott, Noland and Sergio to head off for Cerulean City for the first Kanto pokemon contest.

It wasn't long before the gang made it back to Cerulean City and they were given a big welcome from Misty. Ash showed Misty his Knowledge Symbol. "How's your gym doing Misty?" asked Ash. "I'm swamped with trainers wishing to battle for a badge" said Misty. The Indigo League was up again and trainers were collecting badges for it. "You ready for the pokemon contest Ash and May?" "We are but we better go and register at once" said Ash. The gang ran over to the contest hall to sign up. Since Ash and May were doing the contests in the Kanto region, there were given Kanto passes and new ribbon cases. May was given an orange case and Ash had a blue case. "Oh there is something I forgot to tell you" said Misty. She explained that her sister Daisy was entering the contest. "Is Daisy planning to become a pokemon coordinator?" asked Brock. "Not exactly, she just wants to show off at a pokemon contest for once you know what my sisters are like" said Misty. So Ash and May had a rival to deal with as well as each other in their first Kanto contest.

Soon it was time for the pokemon contest. The announcer was a woman named Lilian, and she was Vivian's sister so she looked like Vivian only with shorter hair. Just like the Hoenn contests the three judges were Mr Contesta, Mr Suziko and Cerulean City's Nurse Joy. Lilian presented the Cerulean ribbon, which was yellow with a light yellow outline. The ribbon looked different than Ash and May's Hoenn ribbons; it was a pin with two ribbon tails dangling from the pin. The rules were different too; the challengers got to choose different pokemon for each round.

Brock, Tomo and Max sat in the audience seats with Misty, who wanted to watch the contest too. Misty's other sisters Violet and Lily were taking care of the gym today. In the waiting room Ash and May met up with Daisy, who was happy to see Ash again because she hadn't seen him for long. Daisy explained that she saw pokemon contests on the TV and thought they were fun, so she wanted to try it out herself for once. "Brace yourselves Ash and May, because I won't be going easy". "Neither will I" said Ash. "Me neither" said May.

The contest was soon on the way and Daisy was up first. She called out a Ludicolo; she borrowed it from Violet. "Ludicolo its rain dance time". Ludicolo started to dance. "That Ludicolo seems a pretty good dancer" said Max. "The truth is Violet takes her Ludicolos to dance practice with her, since Ludicolo is known as the dancing type pokemon" said Misty. "That's true because my Ludicolo likes to dance too" said Brock. Brock didn't have his Ludicolo with him because he left it at Pewter Gym because his siblings loved it so much. In fact Brock left many of his new pokemon at Pewter Gym; he had Mudkip, Fortress and Nosepass with him. Ludicolo soon made it rain, but it only rained on Ludicolo and not in the whole arena. "Okay Ludicolo time for sunny day now" said Daisy. When Ludicolo did sunny day, the rain still stayed but the sun lights ray made the rain drop glisten and it also created a rainbow. The audience loved it and clapped and cheered. "Your sister's quite good at this Misty" said Max. "Daisy practiced this with Ludicolo for ages since she found out about the contest" said Misty. "I must ask Misty," said Tomo "do you use any of your sister's pokemon for the gym battles?" "Yes but I often have to ask them first," said Misty "because they are mostly used in my sister's shows".

Other performances went on after Daisy's turn, and then it came to Ash's turn. He called out his Primeape and told him to use focus energy. Primeape's body glowed red and he started to show off his muscles. Then a boulder came onto the stage. Ash had asked to use a boulder on the stage and contest halls always had things for coordinators to use if they needed to use things. "Okay Primeape use strength". Primeape pumped up his muscles a bit and then he lifted the boulder with no trouble at too. The audience and judges were impressed with how strong Primeape was. "Wow I wonder what Primeape did to make him-self that strong" said Misty. "He trained himself with heavy weights that Prof Oak kept at the lab for fighting type pokemon, Prof Oak told us" said Tomo. "Okay Primeape let's finish this off with close combat" said Ash. Primeape punched and kicked the boulder repeatedly until the boulder brock into little rocks and then Primeape finished off with a pose. Lilian and the judges were impressed with that.

Next up was May's turn and she called out her Bulbasaur. "Bulbasaur let's show them our combination of razor leaf and petal dance". Bulbasaur fired petal dance into the air and then followed up with razor leaf. The razor leaf and petal dance collided with each other in the air and it looked like a bouquet of flowers.

After all the performances were over, the results for the battle round came up. Ash, Daisy and May passed the round with five other coordinators. "Ash and May better watch out for Daisy when they battle," said Misty "Daisy may not look it but she can be a tough battler". The battle rounds were soon up. For the battle rounds Ash, Daisy and May used a different pokemon; Ash used Meganium, May used Starmie and Daisy used her Milotic. They each defeated their opponents in the first round, but in the second round May had to battle Daisy. "May is going to have it tough in this round" said Misty, worriedly. Misty was right; Starmie was not match for Misty's Milotic. Even though May had her Starmie use thunderbolt, Daisy's Milotic took out Starmie with the moves twister and hydro pump.

Ash defeated his second opponent who used a Hitmontop. Then it was his turn to face Daisy in the final battle. "Do you think Ash will find it difficult to defeat Daisy too?" asked Max. "Could do, because he's never battled Daisy before," said Misty "but then again his Meganium has had more battling experience than Daisy's Milotic". Ash and May called out their pokemon and the battle soon started. "Milotic let's go with ice beam" said Daisy. "Dodge that and use energy ball" said Ash. Meganium managed to dodge the ice beam attack and hit Milotic with energy ball. Ash had to be careful with ice beam because ice was Meganium's weakness. "Use petal dance". Meganium fired petal dance from her flower and the attack hit Milotic good. "Quick Milotic use recover" said Daisy. Milotic glowed yellow and healed itself. "Wow Misty, you were right about your sister being a good battler" said Brock. "My sisters may only care about their looks and don't like battling," said Misty "but they do know how to battle". Ash saw that Daisy was a tough opponent. "Okay Meganium let's move in with solar beam" he said. Meganium stored in energy to get ready to use solar beam. "Use hydro pump Milotic" said Daisy. Milotic fired hydro pump and Meganium fired her solar beam attack. Meganium's solar beam was stronger than Milotic's hydro pump and it shot through the hydro pump and hit Milotic. Milotic got real damage from the solar beam and fainted. So Ash was the winner of the pokemon contest and he hugged Meganium. Daisy returned her Milotic and said that it did its best.

Ash was presented with the Cerulean ribbon. "I know you will do great performances here in Kanto like you did in Hoenn Ash" said Mr Contesta, who remembers Ash. "Thank you sir" said Ash. He was happy to have earned his first Kanto ribbon.

After it was all over, Daisy and Misty said their goodbyes to the others. They had to go back to the gym. Daisy said that even though the contest seemed fun, she prefers the life as an actress model because it involved no battles. "You all take care and do well in other pokemon contests". "You do well in your frontier battles Ash" said Misty. Then Daisy and Misty went back to the gym. May decided that she was going to practice more with her pokemon, and get more pokemon.

So with the Cerulean contest done, the gang left Cerulean City for their destination to Saffron City.

Here's the update you all waited for. I think Daisy would have entered the pokemon contest in Cerulean City if they ever showed it in the anime. I don't know where else in Kanto they had other pokemon contests in the anime, so I'm making it up myself where Ash would earn his Kanto ribbons. I know Ash used Charizard against Articuno, but I decided to use Lugia, and Ash will use different pokemon against the other facilities. I'm also using Ash's Kanto Orange Island and Johto pokemon during the battle frontier arc.

Now to answer some questions; Ash's pokemon train themselves against each other and other pokemon at Prof Oak's lab and that's how they get stronger when they are not with Ash. For the fossil questions; I gave Anorith to Max because it suited Max rather a Cradily. For Brock and Tomo to get other fossils is because it wouldn't be fair to Tomo if he never got fossil pokemon like Ash is, and for Brock his family run's a rock gym so the fossil pokemon are important to Brock and the gym. The poll about Ash training in Rota is closed and now I have a new poll. Should I have Dawn catch a shiny Ariados?
