Ash's Pokemon Journey
Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.
Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.
Chapter 89
The Two Shiny Pokemon,
Saffron Contest,
And James's Childhood home
While on the way to Saffron City, the gang had come to a forest. Here May planned to try and catch more pokemon for the Kanto contests; sure she thought her pokemon were brilliant but she still wanted new pokemon. "What sort of pokemon do you want to capture May?" asked Brock. May was reading a pokemon book about pokemon you find in Kanto. "I've been thinking about it," she said "and I want to catch a Butterfree because they are so beautiful and cute like Beautifly". "Then you will have to search for Caterpie," said Ash "that's the best way to get a Butterfree". He remembered when his Butterfree evolved from Caterpie and Metapod.
Suddenly a person the gang didn't expect to see ran past them; it was Drew. "Wat's Drew doing here?" gasped May. "He must be here to participate in the pokemon contests" said Ash. "Drew certainly seemed to be in a hurry," said Brock "I wonder what's up". The gang decided to find out and caught up to Drew. "Drew!" called out May. Drew was surprised to see May again, but he figured she'd want to enter the contests in Kanto. "Hey Ash I saw you win the Cerulean ribbon on TV" said Drew. "You won any ribbons yet?" asked Ash. "Only one, but I'm just beginning" said Drew. "So what were you running in a hurry for Drew?" asked May. "Haven't you heard?" asked Drew "a shiny Zangoose and shiny Arcanine are lurking about in these parts". "You're kidding right?!" gasped Max. "Nope and I plan to capture them for myself," said Drew "see you later". And he left. "Why don't we go and look for these shiny pokemon too?" said Max "I've never seen a shiny Arcanine or shiny Zangoose before". The others agreed. "We better split to search for the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose," suggested Brock "because we have no idea where they might be". So the gang split up to find the two shiny pokemon; Brock with May, Max with Tomo and Ash went off alone.
The gang wasn't the only ones interested of finding the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose. Jessie, James and Meowth had heard about the two shiny pokemon lurking about in the area, and they wanted to catch them for Team Rocket. "That shiny Zangoose and Arcanine will earn us a lot of money" said Meowth. "You're right Meowth," said Jessie "you can leave the Arcanine to my Cloyster since water beats fire". "And I can easily take down that Zangoose with Breloom". "Just don't let Seviper see that Zangoose Jessie" said Meowth, who remembered that Seviper and Zangoose were enemies. "All right enough talk, time to catch us some pokemon" said Jessie.
(With May and Brock)
May and Brock were keeping their eyes open to see if they could spot the shiny Arcanine or Zangoose. "Do you think Drew was right about the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose being here?" May asked Brock. "Well it's unusual to see a Zangoose here in Kanto," said Brock "but Drew isn't the type to lie. So all we can do is search for the Arcanine and Zangoose". Just then a Caterpie crawled past. "Brock that's a Caterpie right?" asked May. "Yes May that is" answered Brock. "Great I'm capturing it" said May. Even though they were searching for an Arcanine and Zangoose, May couldn't resist on capturing Caterpie because she wanted a Butterfree.
(With Tomo and Max)
Tomo was having Growlithe sniff around to pick up the scent of the shiny Arcanine. "With Growlithe's nose we should be able to find Arcanine since its Growlithe's evolved form" said Tomo. "Hey Tomo are you ever going to evolve Growlithe to Arcanine?" asked Max. "No the truth is like Pikachu, Growlithe doesn't want to evolve," said Tomo "and the truth is, I like Growlithe the way he is". "I see" said Max. Just then Growlithe started to bark. "Growlithe must have picked up Arcanine's scent," said Tomo "lead the way Growlithe". Growlithe started to run and Tomo and Max followed.
(With Ash)
Ash and Pikachu were searching for the shiny pokemon together. "See anything Pikachu?" asked Ash. Pikachu was up a tree looking to see if he could see the shiny pokemon, but he didn't see anything yet. "You know Pikachu?" said Ash "I think this is a good time for me to try and use my aura power for this. Wouldn't you say?" Pikachu agreed; he remembered that Ash had the power of aura. Ash closed his eyes and thought in his mind that he needed to find the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose. Just then the aura appeared in Ash's eyes and then Ash saw where they were. Ash opened his eyes. "Let's go Pikachu" he said. Pikachu jumped off the tree and he and Ash ran over to the direction where Arcanine and Zangoose were.
Ash and Pikachu ran over to where the Arcanine and Zangoose were supposed to be, and then they ran into Max, Tomo and Growlithe. "Ash, Growlithe picked up Arcanine's scent" said Tomo. "I sensed Zangoose and Arcanine too, and they seem to be over there through the trees," said Ash, pointing to some trees, "we must be quiet now or we might scare them away". Ash, Max and Tomo quietly walked through the trees, taking care not to make any noise. A minute later Ash, Pikachu, Tomo, Growlithe and Tomo found the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose. They were shiny all right; Arcanine's body was a golden yellow colour and Zangoose had blue stripes and red claws. "Wow, shiny pokemon look magnificent" whispered Max.
Suddenly Arcanine and Zangoose got caught in a net. It was Team Rocket in their balloon. "Success!" cheered Jessie. "These pokemon will defiantly fetch a good price" said James. Arcanine and Zangoose were about to try to escape the net, but the net zapped them; it was an electrical net. "Drop those pokemon!" shouted Ash. "Yeah we're not letting you claim them as Team Rocket's pokemon!" shouted Max. "Too late twerps" said Jessie. James released Weezing and had him use smokescreen. Ash quickly released his Butterfree and had him use whirlwind to blow the smoke away. "Now butterfree use air cutter on the net quickly". Butterfree cut the air with air cutter and Arcanine and Zangoose were free. "Are you two all right?" asked Max, worriedly. The two pokemon were okay; the electric net didn't harm them much. Jessie and James were angry by that and they landed the balloon. "You will pay for that!" shouted Jessie and she released Cloyster. James released Breloom. Max and Tomo were about to release a pokemon each to fight, but neither of them nor Ash had to do anything. Arcanine and Zangoose stood in position to fight. "It that's the way you want it fine," smirked Jessie "Cloyster use hydro pump". "Breloom you use seed bomb" said James. Cloyster and Breloom fired their attacks towards Arcanine and Zangoose, but Arcanine and Zangoose dodged the attacks. Then Arcanine used fire blast on both Breloom and Cloyster and the two pokemon were in pain. Next Zangoose used focus blast and it made Team Rocket blast off again.
Ash, Tomo and Max were impressed with Arcanine and Zangoose. "Wow" said Max. He stepped forward. "Zangoose I wish to capture you". Zangoose heard Max and stared at him for the moment. Then he got into a fighting position. Max took out his Whismur to battle. Ash wanted to catch Arcanine and he decided to use Pikachu to battle. There was soon fighting going on between Arcanine, Pikachu, Zangoose and Whismur while Tomo and Growlithe just watched. Pikachu gave Arcanine a good jolt with his thunder attack and Whismur gave Zangoose a real headache with its hyper voice attack. After Arcanine and Zangoose started to get weak, Ash and Max tossed an empty pokeball each at them. The pokeballs did their normal shaking and they both went ding. The captures were successful. "Wow," said Max, happily, "not only have I got my own Zangoose, but I have my own shiny pokemon too". "And I have my own Arcanine" smiled Ash.
At that moment Ash, May and Drew turned up. "We saw Pikachu's thunder," said Brock "what happened?" Ash, Max and Tomo explained what had happened. "Sorry Drew but Max and I captured the shiny Arcanine and Zangoose first" said Ash. "Ah never mind then," said Drew "I'll just catch something else here in Kanto". Truth is even though Drew acted proud; he was still a good sport. May then said that she caught herself a Caterpie and she couldn't wait for it to evolve into Butterfree.
So a lot happened today and after the pokemon capturing was over with, the gang decided to move on to Saffron City.
Today the gang made it to Saffron City where the next pokemon contest was being held, and May signed up at once. Ash didn't sign up because his Larvitar was feeling itchy again to battle, so Ash decided to skip the contest this time and have Larvitar battle some trainers. Bad news was Harley had come to participate in the Kanto contests and he was entering the Saffron contest too. Of course the gang wasn't happy to see Harley again, so they decided to stay out of his way.
So while May dealt with the contest, Ash went off to find some trainers. Tomo wanted to battle too; he captured a Pidgey not long after Ash and Max captured Arcanine and Zangoose and he wanted to check out his new Pidgey. "Where shall we go to battle trainers Ash?" asked Tomo. "There is a battle ground in the park," said Ash "Brock, Misty and I saw it when we last came here to Saffron City. So I'm sure there will be many trainers there for us to battle". "Let's hope they will be there," said Tomo "after all a pokemon contest is on today". "Well let's go to the park and see" said Ash.
At that time the Saffron contest was starting. Lilian did the usual introductions and showed off the Saffron ribbon. It was a pin with two ribbon tails dangling from it and the ribbons were pink with a light pink outline. Harley went up first and he sent out his Cacturne. He had Cacturne use cotton spore first and then Cacturne used needle arm and pierced through all the cotton balls with its needles. It was clear that Harley had trained more since the Hoenn Grand Festival. More performances went on after Harley and soon it was May's turn. This time May used her Combusken for the performance round. She untied her bandana and threw it towards Combusken, and then she told him to use fire spin and sky uppercut. Combusken used fire spin to keep May's bandana in the air and he used sky uppercut to fold up the bandana again. For the finish May stepped in to have the bandana back onto her head. The contest was going well.
Meanwhile Ash and Larvitar had just defeated a trainer and his Growlithe, and Tomo defeated a girl's Bulbasaur with his Pidgey. Even though Pidgey was new, he was quite strong for a small bird pokemon. He knew the moves gust, sand attack, tackle, quick attack, whirl wind and the egg move brave bird. "Hey Ash, do you think your Pidgeot could train my Pidgey?" asked Tomo "Pidgey would become stronger from her". "I'm sure Pidgeot will be happy to train Pidgey," smiled Ash "we will send Pidgey to Prof Oak's lab and ask the professor to ask Pidgeot to train Pidgey".
Suddenly a familiar face came up to Ash; it was Sabrina. "I sensed you were here Ash" she said. "Why am I not surprised that you would use psychic powers to find out what's going on?" smiled Ash. "I saw you and Gardevoir on telly at a pokemon contest in Hoenn," said Sabrina "and I saw that you trained well like I knew you would. And I sense that you have grown strong with that psychic power of yours". "My psychic power has been very useful," said Ash "especially with catching bad guys". Sabrina smiled. "So Ash what are you and Tomo doing here in Saffron City?" she asked. Ash and Tomo explained that their friend May was participating in the pokemon contest and that they were in the park battling trainers because of Ash's Larvitar. "The truth is I think he's getting close to evolving," said Ash "so I think Larvitar is itching to battle because of that". "I understand because some of my pokemon have acted like that too," said Sabrina "say Ash do you mind if I battle with your Larvitar now? I would like to battle you again". "I accept your challenge Sabrina" said Ash. Having a rematch with Sabrina sounded like fun to him.
Ash and Sabrina got into position to battle and Tomo became their referee. Ash sent out his Larvitar and Sabrina sent out an Alakazam. "This that the Kadabra I battled with when I earned the Marsh Badge?" asked Ash. "Yes and my Alakazam has grown stronger since then" said Sabrina. Alakazam and Larvitar got ready to fight.
Meanwhile the battle rounds in the Saffron contest began. May decided to use her Squirtle in the battle rounds. Even though May's Squirtle was small and still a starter, he was a good battler. And he knew good moves like tackle, bubble, ice beam, withdraw and water gun. But he didn't have control of ice beam yet. Harley had a new pokemon on his team, an Ariados and he was using that to battle. Harley and May defeated their opponents one by one until finally, they were up against each other in the final round. 'Finally a chance to beat May' thought Harley, with a smirk. 'I'll mop the floor with Harley's face' thought May, crossly.
The battle between Harley and May were on the way. Harley started off by telling his Ariados to use string shot, and Ariados climbed up the string up to the ceiling. "Hit Ariados with water gun Squirtle" said May. Squirtle tried to hit Ariados with water gun, but Ariados dodged the water gun thanks to the string shot. The misses made May lose points at once. "Use spider web Ariados" said Harley. Ariados created lots of spider webs in the hall and then Ariados wrapped Squirtle up with string shot and tossed him into one of the webs. Squirtle was now like a trapped fly. May was in trouble now; if she didn't do something then Harley would win the match. 'It's now or never' she thought. "Use ice beam Squirtle" she said. Even though Squirtle hadn't mastered ice beam yet, she was willing to try anything in her situation. When Squirtle fired ice beam, the ice beam attack not only froze Ariados but all of the webs as well. Harley lost half his points at once. "Now use bubble Squirtle". Squirtle hit Ariados well with bubble as well as freeing it from the ice. "Time to fight back Ariados" said Harley. But Ariados couldn't do anything because the frozen webs were too slippery for Ariados. "Use tackle Squirtle" said May. Squirtle slid down the web and that gave power to Squirtles tackle attack which defeated Ariados at once. So May was the winner of the Saffron contest. Harley was not happy with that; he returned Ariados and walked off in a huff.
At that time Ash and Sabrina had finished their battle and Sabrina's Alakazam won. "Your Larvitar picked a good fight with Alakazam Ash" said Sabrina. "You may not believe this, but Larvitar has picked a lot of fights before" said Ash. Just then Larvitar started to act fidgety again. "It is time" said Sabrina. Larvitar glowed and evolved into a Pupitar. "Wow," said Tomo "he will become a Tyranitar next". Ash knelt down to Pupitar. "Since you've evolved now I hope you are going to take it easy with the battles now," he said "it's all right to battle but you went a bit too crazy with the battles back at the lab. So no more battling like there's no tomorrow okay?" Since Pupitar got what he wanted he promised to behave now.
Ash, Tomo and Sabrina met up with Brock, May and Max outside the contest hall. Max was thrilled to meet Sabrina the Saffron gym leader and May showed off her new ribbon to Ash. Ash also told them about Larvitar evolving to Pupitar. "Well we have had quite a day today" smiled Brock. Sabrina then said that she had to go back to the gym now and she said goodbye to the gang. And the gang looked forward for when Ash would battle the Battle Arena.
Today the gang was taking a break; May wanted to practice her pokemon's skills more for the next contest and Ash wanted to make sure his pokemon were ready for the Battle Arena. He didn't know what pokemon the next battle facility would use, but he still wanted to make sure his pokemon were ready for it.
But the gang wasn't the only ones taking a break. Jessie, James and Meowth were trying to decide what to do with them-selves now. "I don't know about you but I wish we can find someplace where we can eat and relax" said Meowth. "My grandparents live not far from here," said James "I went to stay with them a lot during the summer holidays. So we can think out what to do there". "Will they allow Jessie and me to visit?" asked Meowth. "Of course my grandparents are really nice people," said James "a whole lot nice then my parents were. But I would appreciate it that we don't wear our Team Rocket uniform, because I don't want them to know I'm working for Team Rocket". "I understand" said Jessie. "Yeah besides we want to take a break from Team Rocket work anyway" said James.
James led the way to where his grandparents lived; they lived in a big house with a big greenhouse. "Wow," said Meowth "is this really where your grandparents live James?" "Yes and this is really one of my family's vacation homes" said James. The truth is since James' family was very wealthy they had many vacation homes in different places. "I was always happy here when I spent my vacation with Nanny and Pop-Pop," said James "because they allowed me to have fun and behave like a child". "I remember you telling us that your parents and tutors kept on telling you to act like a proper gentleman and to grow up quickly" said Jessie. "That's right and it was only Nanny and Pop-Pop who allowed me to be a child" said James. "I always thought that being born in a very wealthy family was nice" said Jessie. "But it's not though," said James "you are always told what to do, what to eat, what to wear and where to go. And seriously Jessie you wouldn't like being told what to do every day". "Your right I wouldn't," said Jessie "the one who decided what I should do is me and me alone".
Jessie, James and Meowth entered James holiday home and he introduced his grandparents to Jessie and Meowth. "Friends of James are always welcome here" smiled Nanny. James' grandparents gave the trio a meal at once. "So James what brings you here?" asked Pop-Pop. James said that he Jessie and Meowth were travelling together and they needed a rest to think about where to go next. "Well take all the time and rest you need here," said Nanny "oh by the way James. There is someone here who has been wishing to see you again". James feared it was going to be Jessebelle; she was who James was supposed to marry but James refused to. The door opened and then came out a Sunflora. "Sunny!" exclaimed James and he hugged the Sunflora at once. James explained that he had been friends with the Sunflora, who he names Sunny, ever since he was a boy. "I see you have been well Sunny" said James. Sunny was happy to see James again.
Suddenly a Mime Jr appeared into the room. "Oh is that your new pokemon?" asked James. "It's actually wild," said Nanny "but it stay's here with us to help look after the house and pokemon". So while the trio relaxed, James bonded with Mime Jr and caught up times with Sunny. James thought Mime Jr was very cute and Mime Jr liked James a lot. Ours later Jessie, James and Meowth decided it was time to leave. "Well will you be going?" asked Nanny. "We'll be traveling around Kanto some more" answered Jessie. "May you enjoy your journey" said Pop-Pop. Just then Sunny and Mime Jr came up to James and held onto to him. "What's wrong you two?" asked James. "It seems Mime Jr and Sunny wants to go with you James," said Pop-Pop "Sunny doesn't want to be separated from you again and Mime Jr likes you a lot". James smiled and caught Sunny and Mime Jr into pokeballs at once. Then the trio said goodbye to James' grandparents and left the vacation home to search for their next destination to gather pokemon.
As for the gang, they finished their break and continued on for the Battle Arena.
Since people have been asking for Ash to have Arcanine I decided to give him one. I decided on a shiny Zangoose for Max because it looked cooler than a normal one. I don't know why May never captured a Butterfree in the anime because she would have loved to have one. I also don't understand why Ash never saw Sabrina again in Saffron so I decided to have him see her again, and he will see Erika again in Celadon. I know the gang turned up in the James' grandparents' home in the anime, but I decided not to have them go there too just to give Team Rocket a break. Before anyone asks yes James still has Chimecho with him. As for those who wanted to know if Ash will see Ritchie again; yes they will meet up again at the Kanto grand festival. And one more thing; I'm not doing the mirage pokemon special because I didn't like that.
