Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Chapter 95

Pokemon Orienteering,

Wisteria Contest,

And The Vile pokemon hunter

Sometime after leaving Neon Town the gang was taking a boat to an island called Potpourri Island. Ash was staring at his four Frontier symbols and five contest ribbons. "I can't believe you've got five ribbons already Ash" said Tomo. "Neither am I Tomo," said Ash "now I just need to collect four more symbols". Soon Potpourri Island was in sight. "What a beautiful Island" said May. "Yeah and it looks perfect to relax for a bit too" said Brock.

Once they set foot on Potpourri Island, they heard that an even called pokemon orienteering was on. Pokemon orienteering was a stamp rally where people had to collect ink stamps from different locations. Nurse Joy, who was the presenter of the event, explained the trainers had to work together with one of their pokemon. The gang found it very interesting and decided to enter it. Ash decided to enter with Pikachu, Tomo with Growlithe, Max with Loudred, May with Eevee and Brock with Bonsly.

Next day was the stamp rally was about to start and Nurse Joy explained the rules. The locations of the pokemon stamps were on the map that the trainers were given, and the winner would be given a medal and a lot of Potpourri Island's fruit. Everyone was anxious to win that. Nurse Joy gave the signal to start and everyone ran off in different directions to collect the stamps.

Unknown to the gang, James and Jessie was taking part in it too. James had been in stamp rallies before as a young boy and he always found them fun. So he intended to enter to enjoy his youth again and he joined in with Mime Jr. Jessie, with Meowth as her partner, only wanted to enter it to get all the fruit.

The competitors went as quickly as they could to get the five pokemon stamps they needed.

The results of where each pokemon stamp was were as follows;

The Lunatone stamp was located at a Moon Rock, next to a giant Lunatone statue. The Remoraid stamp was located at the Rainbow Falls; a big waterfall that had a big rainbow at the bottom. The Pineco stamp was found next to a 300-year-old giant tree. The Kingler stamp was found on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The Skarmory stamp was encountered on a pillar of land between two bridges.

It wasn't easy trying to find the stamps easily; there were hills and cliffs to climb, tough bridges to walk over and very thick forests to get through. But nobody gave up, except Jessie and Meowth. Apparently Jessie was terrible at this; she was useless with map reading, and thought that the compass wasn't help much either. James on the other hand was brilliant at this than Jessie; he knew how to read a map and work a compass.

That was a big difference with Jessie and James; James was cleverer, patient and understanding with things, as well with being more kind than Jessie. Jessie on the other hand; she wasn't as patient as James.

The pokemon orienteering was finished by the time the sun was starting to go down, and in the end James and his Mime Jr were the winners. James was given the medal; it had a picture of him and Mime Jr on it. He was also given fruit, but he shared it with everyone else, being a generous type of person.

The gang enjoyed themselves in the stamp rally because it gave them a chance to spend a day having fun with their pokemon. Nurse Joy then said to the gang that there was a pokemon contest on Potpourri Island in a town called Wisteria Town. May was glad to hear that and decided to go there to earn her next contest ribbon.

Next day the gang was at Wisteria Town, where May could enter the next pokemon contest. This time May was going to enter with her Squirtle and Munchlax and right now they were doing some last practicing before the contest started. Since Ash already earned five ribbons, he could just watch May in the audience seats with the others. But the gang wasn't the only ones there, Harley was there too. Harley asked Ash and May how many ribbons and they showed off their ribbons. When he saw May's ribbons he just simply said, in insult, that she needed some catching up. But when he saw that Ash had five he couldn't believe his eyes and found it unfair. Harley had three ribbons. Harley did his usual boasting that he was going to win, which of course made May mad but she declared that she will show him.

It was soon time for the Wisteria Contest. May's Eevee was sitting in the audience seats with the others. The truth is Eevee wanted to be in the contest, but May had told him that he wasn't ready yet. So Eevee was watching to see what contests were like, so he would be ready for when May does choose him. Lilian gave the usual introductions and showed off the Wisteria Ribbon; it was orange with a lighter outline, and it was the same shape as the ribbons from Hoenn.

Then it was time for the appeal rounds and May was up first with Squirtle. Squirtle started off by spinning horizontally with rapid spin and blowed some bubbles. The bubbles spun around the same way that Squirtle was doing. Then he blew ice beam, which burst all the bubbles and created an icy fountain. After May was a trainer with Rhydon, then a trainer with Camerupt and a trainer with Machamp and trainer with Magneton. Next up was Harley using his Ariados. Ariados used spider web, creating webs all over, and then Ariados swung from web to web using scary face. "Must Harley always do scary or creepy performances?" asked Ash. "I think scary or creepy performances are the only type of performances that he likes doing" said Brock.

After the preliminary round was over, eight trainers made it to the battle rounds and May and Harley were two of them. Munchlax defeat the opponent, which was a Politoed, with solar beam. Munchlax may not have looked much but he did seem to be quite a good battler. To be honest he did learn a few things thanks to Ash's Snorlax; when May and Max visited Prof Oak's lab, Ash's Snorlax had taught Munchlax some moves like fire, ice and thunder punch. So thanks to Snorlax, Munchlax had grown a bit. Harley was using Octillery in the battle rounds and Octillery showed no mercy at the opponents either.

It wasn't long then till Harley and May had to face each other in the finals. May started off by telling her Munchlax to use thunder punch, but Octillery dodged it and jumped onto Munchlax's face using constrict. Munchlax tried to get Octillery off but it was no good. Octillery then used octazooka on Munchlax and May lost a lot of points. May told Munchlax to use solar beam, but before Munchlax could release the beam Octillery used sludge bomb and stopped the attack. May was in trouble and she told Munchlax to use metronome. Of course May had no idea what the metronome move will do; but since she was in a pinch she had no choice. Luckily for her and Munchlax though, the metronome move became thunder and Octillery was hit badly from it. Harley was not happy with what happened and he told Octillery to heal up with rest. May knew what rest was because she had seen it before. She ordered her Munchlax to use tackle, and then focus punch and then thunder punch. But those three attacks weren't enough to defeat Octillery. Octillery woke up and then fired Octazooka at Munchlax, and poor Munchlax was knocked out from that move.

So Harley was the winner and he received the Wisteria ribbon, making it his fourth ribbon. May was a bit disappointed of not being able to win her next ribbon again, but she was determined to do better in the next contest. When the contest was all over with, Lilian came up to the gang and gave May a flier. The flier revealed that there was a pokemon contest at a place called Chrysanthemum Island. So that was where the gang decided to go for the next pokemon contest.

The day after the Wisteria Town contest, the gang planned to head for an island called Chrysanthemum Island. But there was no ferry service from Wisteria Town to Chrysanthemum Island. So the gang had to go to an Island called Camomile Island first and then take a ferry from there to Chrysanthemum Island. But once they got there they noticed trouble was brewing at the pokemon center. Nurse Joy was talking to some policemen and the policemen started to scout the area. The gang ran over to Nurse Joy and asked her what was wrong. Nurse Joy explained that an evil pokemon poacher named Clayton was on Camomile Island. "I've heard of that guy," said Brock, a bit crossly, "he's a really bad guy, always harming and trapping pokemon. And the worst thing about him is he shows no mercy of hurting those who get in his way, even people". The others were not happy to hear that. "You kids must be careful," said Nurse Joy "and if you see Clayton, tell the police at once". The gang agreed to tell if they caught sight of Clayton.

So the gang decided to stay close to the pokemon center just to be safe, and they released all their pokemon for a break. May was thinking over what she should do for her next pokemon contest and Brock and Max were checking over the pokemon. Ash and Tomo were going to have a battle with their Grovyles; Prof Oak had told Ash and Tomo that their Grovyles were itching for a pokemon battle, so Ash and Tomo had their Grovyles with them to have some pokemon battling. "You ready Tomo?" asked Ash. "As ready as I ever will be" said Tomo, excitedly.

But just before the battle started Ash's Grovyle started to run into the forest. "Grovyle what's wrong?" Ash called out. "Something must be wrong, if Grovyle is running off like that Ash" said Tomo. "You're right Tomo, we better follow Grovyle at once" agreed Ash. They followed Ash's Grovyle into the forest. But once they found Grovyle there was a really nasty surprise waiting for them. A Tropius was lying on the grass, next to a tree, and it was really hurt; there were bruises and a few cuts over its body, but the worst part was there was a big cut across its neck and there was blood. Ash and Tomo were not happy with this and neither were their Grovyles. "What on earth happened?!" gasped Tomo. "That poacher Clayton must have done this" said Ash, who was very cross about this. He took out a pokeball. "What are you doing Ash?" asked Tomo. "Tropius will be too heavy for us to carry it to the pokemon center," said Ash "this will be quicker". He apologized to Tropius and explained it was the only way, and then captured in in the pokeball.

The two brothers and their pokemon ran back to the pokemon center as fast as they could. They gave Tropius to Nurse Joy at once and explained what has happened to it. Nurse Joy was not happy to hear about its injuries and she and her Chansey got Tropius into the treatment room right away. While Tropius was being treated, Ash and Tomo told the others about Tropius and its injuries. Brock, Max and May were not happy to hear that, especially about the cur on Tropius' neck. "That's outrageous!" shouted Brock, angrily, "it's bad enough that poachers use electrical traps and other nasty equipment like that. But injuring pokemon with cuts and bruises and just leaving them to die like that is the worst!" "I agree with that," said Max, crossly "and we can't let that Clayton guy get away with this". "You're right and we won't either" said Ash. "You're not saying we are going to handle that guy ourselves do you?" asked May, worriedly. "Nope; we are going to help the police take this guy down," said Ash "time for me to use my aura". Ash closed his eyes and used his aura to power to try and locate the poacher. Suddenly Ash opened his eyes and said he found him. "Where is he?" asked Brock. "He's in the forest just a few miles from here" answered Ash. "That settles it then," said Brock "May you and Tomo and Max go and get the police. Ash and I will hold him off from getting away till the police get there". May was worried with this idea, but she knew she couldn't argue with Ash and Brock, especially when it came to protecting pokemon. She told Ash and Brock to be careful and she and Max and Tomo went to get the police. "Let's go Ash" said Brock. He, Ash, Pikachu and Ash's Grovyle ran off into the forest to find Clayton.

In a forest a brown haired man, with a brown beard, was walking around with an Ursaring by his side. He also carried a hunting gun in his hands. This man was the poacher Clayton who the police were searching for. "Keep your eyes peeled Ursaring," said Clayton to his pokemon "there's bound to be good pokemon around here to catch and sell". Ursaring was bad as Clayton was. Just then they came across a swarm of Primeape. "Ah these Primeape will fetch a good price since they pack quite a punch," said Clayton "get ready Ursaring".

Clayton and Ursaring were just about to make an attack on the Primeape, but then a shout called out; "Hold it right there you!" It was Brock; he and Ash had found Clayton just in time. The Primeape heard the shout and they ran away. "Grr," growled Clayton "you kids stay out of my business". "No way!" shouted Ash "not while bad people like you are going around hurting pokemon, like that Tropius you injured and left to die". "Hmph that Tropius was far too weak for me to capture and sell," snorted Clayton "it didn't put up a fight against mu Ursaring". Ash and Brock were cross when they heard that. "Now Ursaring get those kids out of our way" said Clayton. Ursaring stepped forward. "Careful Ash," said Brock "that Ursaring looks dangerous". "Let's go Grovyle" said Ash. Ursaring and Grovyle got ready to fight. "Show that wimp your slash attack Ursaring" said Clayton. "Counter with leaf blade Grovyle" said Ash. Ursaring and Grovyle slashed each other with their attacks. "Move in with focus punch Grovyle" said Ash. Grovyle punched Ursaring good, but Ursaring got back up and punched Grovyle with hammer arm. "Give up kid," snorted Clayton "your pokemon doesn't stand a chance against my Ursaring". "No way!" said Ash "my pokemon and I never give up when we fight against disgusting people like you!" Grovyle roared in agreement; he didn't like what Clayton and Ursaring did to Tropius.

Suddenly Grovyle started to glow and he evolved into a Sceptile.

Ash looked at Sceptile on the pokedex: Sceptile, the forest pokemon. The evolved from the Grovyle. The leaves on its forelegs are as sharp as swords. It agilely leaps about the branches of trees to strike.

The pokedex also showed that Ash's new Sceptile now knew the moves leaf storm, night slash and dragon claw. "Use leaf storm Sceptile" said Ash. Sceptile's new leaf storm move turned out to be powerful and it defeated Ursaring.

Clayton was not happy that his Ursaring was defeated and pointed his gun at Sceptile. But before Clayton did anything, a flamethrower appeared in front of him and made him drop his gun in surprise. The flamethrower came from a Growlithe; the police had arrived with a pack of Growlithe. "You're under arrest" said one of the policemen. Clayton was handcuffed in no time. "You will be in prison for a very long time" one of the policemen said to Clayton.

Ash and Brock and Pikachu and Sceptile went back to the pokemon center and May, Max and Tomo were happy to see they were all right. They were also surprised to see that Grovyle was now a Sceptile. The policemen thanked the gang for their help and they promised that Clayton will never be released from prison ever. To the gang's opinion; Clayton didn't deserve to be set free.

The then asked Nurse Joy how Tropius was. "Tropius is out of danger now thanks to you Ash and Tomo" said Nurse Joy. "Since I ended up catching Tropius in my pokeball, I better release it" said Ash. Ash went into the room where Tropius was and told it about its capture. "I'm afraid I had to use a pokeball to get you to safety," Ash explained "but since you are fine now I will set you back into the wild". But Tropius didn't want to be set free; it wished to stay with Ash because it was grateful that Ash saved its life and it wanted to grow stronger. Ash was surprised but accepted Tropius's wish, so Tropius was his now for real.

After Tropius got better, Ash sent Tropius to Prof Oak's lab to heal up more. He even sent Sceptile back to Prof Oak's lab to help Tropius. Then the gang got onto a ferry for Chrysanthemum Island. So today was such a day for the gang.

Sorry for the wait. In the anime I find it hard to believe that Jessie can't read a map well and yet she's an adult. James is a whole lot smart than her. There was no way that I was going to do the Sceptile loosing ability to use attack moves because of love rejection I thought that was a bit silly in my taste. I got the injured Tropius idea from fffan231's story Dragon master. Check out my poll.
