Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Chapter 97

Gardenia Contest,

Ash Meets Anabel

And The Battle Tower

After leaving a city, the gang had come to a place called Gardenia Town. A pokemon contest was being held here and May wished to enter to earn her fourth ribbon. This time May had decided to use Eevee in the contest. Eevee had learned some new moves thanks to Ash's Eevees; it had learned dig, swift, headbutt, quick attack and bite. "Your Eevee looks ready for a pokemon contest at last May" said Ash. "You're right Ash and I have your Eevees to thank" said May. "No problem" said Ash. "Hey Ash I've been meaning to ask you, what are your two Eevee's going to evolve to?" said May. "I'll be evolving them into Glaceon and Leafeon" answered Ash. He showed May a Glaceon and Leafeon on his pokedex. "Wow they look amazing," said May "I wonder which one I should evolve my Eevee to?" "My advice is to ask Eevee what it wants to evolve to, but wait till it's strong enough to evolve first" said Ash. May clearly understood that Eevee was nowhere near ready to evolve yet.

Just then a woman came up to May. Her name was Yuma and she was a pokemon breeder and a former winner of the grand festival. Yuma had come to see the pokemon contest in Gardenia Town to find new coordinators to pass her coordinator skills to.

It was soon time for the pokemon contest to begin. Yuma sat in the audience seat next to Ash, Brock, Tomo and Max. Lilian did the usual introductions and showed off the Gardenia Ribbon. The Gardenia Ribbon was a bow shape ribbon and it was lavender colored with a white outline. Next the appeal round began to start. The first coordinator was a girl named Mollie and this was her first contest. Mollie's pokemon was a Raticate and it used hyper fang on a block of wood Mollie tossed to it. It gave off a good demonstration of Raticate's teeth. Next was May's turn and she used Squirtle. First Squirtle used rapid spin, which created a little sand storm. Then he did bubble and created a pyramid of bubbles, and last of all he did ice beam which burst the bubbles and created a big icy pillar. More pokemon showed off after May until the appeal round was over. The final results were eight trainers were to move on to the battle rounds and May was one of them. Yuma had been watching carefully at the coordinators and their pokemon.

Mollie, who also passed the appeal round, battled first with an Absol. Her opponent was a boy named Humphrey and he owned a Marshtomp. Absol started off with razor wind, but Marshtomp dodge the attack. Absol then went in with a quick attack, but Marshtomp made Absol slip with mud shot and then Marshtomp struck Absol with water gun. Poor Absol fainted on the spot after being hit by the water gun attack. "You can tell that girl Mollie is a starting coordinator" said Ash. "Yeah because she was taken down in an instant like May did when she started" said Brock.

May went on to defeating her opponents one by one with her Eevee, until at last she had to battle Humphrey in the final round. Eevee started off with using shadow ball but Marshtomp used protect, preventing shadow ball from hitting Marshtomp. Marshtomp fought back with mud shot, but Eevee used dig to dodge it. That was a bad idea though; Marshtomp had the ability to feel and sense where Eevee was in the ground thanks to its fin. As soon as Eevee came out of the hole, Marshtomp tackled it. "Oh man and Eevee just learnt dig too" said Max. "Yeah but its second new move swift will work" Ash pointed out. May told Eevee to use swift and Marshtomp got hit by the stars. Marshtomp fought back with water gun and Eevee dodged it. Then Marshtomp used mud shot multiple times on the ground and the ground became muddy. This was difficult for Eevee now because the mud was too slippery and thick so using attacks like tackle or quick attack was useless. Eevee used swift and Marshtomp used water gun to counter it. Eevee used shadow ball next and Marshtomp got hit by it. The battle was getting intense between May and Humphrey. Marshtomp then used mud shot, but Eevee was able to dodge it. Even with the muddy ground, Eevee could still dodge attacks. Eevee used shadow ball again and Marshtomp countered it with water gun.

Suddenly the time was up and May had more points than Humphrey. And so May was the winner of the Gardenia contest and she gained the ribbon. So May now had four ribbons and only needed one more ribbon to enter the Kanto grand festival. After the contest was over Yuma had decided to train Mollie to help her become a better coordinator. So everything worked out in the end.

After leaving Gardenia Town, the gang made it to a place called Cremini Town where they rested for a whole day. And now Ash was getting ready to battle the sixth battle facility that was near Cremini Town. Ash and Pikachu were running in a forest for exercise. "Well Pikachu," said Ash "this will be our sixth facility battle. And when we win this one, we can battle the last facility". Pikachu was excited for that. Suddenly Ash stopped running. Pikachu looked at Ash, asking what was wrong. "I sense a psychic ability user Pikachu" said Ash. Before Ash and Pikachu did anything a Beedrill was flying towards them. "Oh-oh we must have disturbed that Beedrill" said Ash. He quickly spoke up to Beedrill to apologies if they disturbed it. The Beedrill said (in its language) that Ash and Pikachu were near the nest where its mate and two baby Weedles were. "Then Pikachu and I will go somewhere to train, we don't want to disturb you or any other Beedrills after all" said Ash. Beedrill understood that Ash and Pikachu mean no harm and it flew off back to its next. "That was a relief huh Pikachu?" said Ash. Pikachu nodded in agreement. "You two were lucky there" said a voice.

A lilac haired tomboyish girl came up. "You sure knew how to handle that Beedrill without fighting it" said the girl. "Well I know quite a lot about Beedrill, I've met up with them hundreds of times and I own a Beedrill myself too" said Ash. Ash stared at the girl. "You're a psychic user aren't you?" "Yes I am, but how do you know?" said the girl. She stared at Ash. "Wait a minute you're one as well, I can feel psychic energy from you". "That's right I have psychic powers too" said Ash. "Wow I haven't seen anyone else with a psychic ability not ever since I saw Sabrina from Saffron City months ago" said the girl. Ash introduced himself and the girl introduced herself as Anabel. "So Anabel since you are a psychic user, I take it this means you use psychic pokemon like Sabrina right?" asked Ash. "That I do," said Anabel "so Ash when you started using your psychic powers?" "It's quite a story," said Ash "but Pikachu and I should go back to our friends before they start wondering where we are". "Okay well bring your friends here and I'll lead you all to my place" said Anabel.

So Ash and Pikachu got the others from the pokemon center and introduced them to Anabel and then they all went to Anabel's home. Anabel lived in a big fancy house. She made some tea for her and the gang and then she and Ash started talking to each other. Ash explained to Anabel about how he discovered his psychic powers at the Saffron Gym in Saffron City. Then he explained about how his psychic powers helped him out a lot during his journey; understanding what pokemon are saying and reading minds of injured pokemon to find out why they were hurt, sensing other psychic energies especially if a psychic pokemon was causing trouble, seeing right through people if they were liars or in disguise especially bad people. "Wow Ash you really have done a lot with your psychic power" said Anabel. "Yes and I can speak with my psychic pokemon with telepathy and the usual carry things with the power" said Ash. "Can you also speak telepathy with people who are also psychic?" asked Anabel. "Yes I can I saw Sabrina back in Saffron City again and we spoke a little with telepathy then too" answered Ash. Anabel was more fascinated by Ash's stories.

While Ash and Anabel were talking with each other, Tomo, Brock, May and Max were just sipping in their tea. "I feel like we are out of the picture here with those two just talking to each other about Ash's psychic powers" said May. "Well Anabel is a psychic user too so she would want to know about Ash's powers" said Brock. "And anyway May whenever you are talking with other pokemon coordinators you keep going on and on about things" Max reminded May. Brock stared at Ash and Anabel; it seemed Ash enjoyed having a chat with Anabel.

Before Ash and Anabel started to talk about something else, Ash suddenly remembered about wanting to battle the next battle facility. "Do you know where the sixth battle facility is Anabel?" "Yes I do Ash," smiled Anabel "the truth is I am the frontier brain of the Battle Tower, Salon Maiden Anabel". Everyone was surprised with what she just said. "So Ash I take it you wish to challenge me?" "That I do Anabel," said Ash "but I wish to sort out the pokemon I will use for our battle first". "Okay well I will be ready for when you are ready to challenge me" said Anabel.

For a start Ash made a phone call to Prof Oak and told him about Anabel. "Well Ash since you just told me that Anabel uses psychic pokemon the best thing to do is to use your dark type pokemon" said Prof Oak. "I agree," said Ash "and that's why I wish to use Tyranitar and Umbreon for this one". "A very good choice indeed, any others?" said Prof Oak. Before Ash could say anything, his Gengar appeared behind Prof Oak. "Ah how many times have I said not to creep up on people Gengar?!" shouted Prof Oak. Gengar laughed and then started to talk. "You wish to fight a fight with the psychic pokemon too?" Ash asked Gengar. Gengar nodded yes. "Look like you've got your third decision Ash" said Prof Oak. It was true that Gengar would have disadvantage over psychic type due to being part poison as well as ghost. But Gengars were known to always fight psychic pokemon, especially Alakazam, no matter what. So Ash agreed to use Gengar with Tyranitar and Umbreon.

After getting his Gengar, Tyranitar and Umbreon, Ash and Pikachu head over to a forest to check out his pokemon. Before he started, Ash used his aura to check out the area for Beedrills. He didn't want to bother anymore Beedrills. "This area is all right" he said. He sent out his Gengar, Tyranitar and Umbreon. "Okay you three, we will be going against a frontier brain that uses psychic type pokemon. So are you ready for this?" Gengar, Tyranitar and Umbreon were more than ready. "To start with, did you learn those three moves I asked you to learn at the lab Tyranitar?" The three moves that Ash wanted Tyranitar to learn was blizzard, thunder and fire blast. Tyranitar did know fire, ice and thunder fang, but Ash figured that those three wouldn't be enough for when Tyranitar is against a stronger opponent so he had Tyranitar learn blizzard, thunder and fire blast. Tyranitar showed off fire blast, blizzard and thunder attacks. Ash was happy to see that his Tyranitar had done as it was told. So with many check overs Ash could see that his three pokemon were ready indeed.

Just then Anabel turned up. "So Gengar, Tyranitar and Umbreon are my opponents huh?" she asked. "Yes Anabel and we are ready to fight you" said Ash. "I look forward to it Ash, but my psychic pokemon won't go down that easily I can assure you that" said Anabel. "I like strong battles no matter who my opponent is" replied Ash. Anabel smiled; she liked having opponents that had strong spirits.

It was soon time for Ash to face the sixth battle facility.

Next day it was time for Ash to battle the Battle Tower. The Battle Tower building was a skyscraper. Scott arrived just before Ash and Anabel were ready to have their battle, which was a relief to him. Inside, where the battle field was, it was like an assembly room. Ash and Anabel took their places on the battle field and Scott and the others sat on a bench at the side. "I know Ash has battled two gym leaders who used psychic pokemon before, but this may turn out tricky for Ash" said Max, who was referring to Sabrina, Tate and Liza. "You could be right," said Scott "Anabel can be hard to beat with her psychic pokemon because she is one with them. But I'm sure Ash already knows what he's up against". Anabel's assistant Maron explained that the challenge was a three on three pokemon battle, and then he declared it to begin.

Anabel sent out an Alakazam to battle first and Ash sent out his Gengar. "Hang on that's a bad idea to use Gengar, because Gengar is part ghost and poison type so it has a disadvantage over Alakazam" said Max. "That is true but Alakazam and Gengar have always been rivals with each other over who is stronger," said Brock "so it's obvious Ash's Gengar wanted to take this challenge in case Anabel was using an Alakazam". "I hope things will be all right for Ash" said May. Ash started off by telling his Gengar to use lick but Alakazam teleported before Gengar's tongue could lick it. "Hey hang on a second," said Max "Alakazam used teleport but I didn't hear Anabel telling it to do that". "That's because she told Alakazam to use teleport through telepathy," said Tomo "Ash can speak to his psychic pokemon through telepathy too". "Oh yes I forgot about that" said Max. "That means Anabel will be commanding her pokemon in telepathy through this whole battle" said Brock. Anabel told her Alakazam to use psybeam, but Gengar counted it with night shade. Anabel then told her Alakazam to use psychic and Gengar was being moved towards the ceiling. "Quick use shadow ball Gengar" said Ash. Before Gengar hit the ceiling he managed to toss a shadow ball attack at Alakazam and hit it. "Now Gengar use dark pulse" said Ash. Gengar fired dark pulse at Alakazam and the attack hit it. That did well on Alakazam, but then Alakazam used recover. "Since that Alakazam knows recover then I'll have to go all out" said Ash. He ordered Gengar to use shadow ball and Anabel told her Alakazam to use psybeam. The shadow ball and psybeam attacks collided with each other and created an explosion. When the explosion cleared, both Gengar and Alakazam were down. "Wow I didn't expect both Alakazam and Gengar to go down together like that" said Max. "Neither did I" said May. Scott was surprised himself. So the first match was a draw.

Ash and Anabel returned their pokemon and called out their next pokemon. Ash called Tyranitar and Anabel called out Metagross. "Oh-oh Metagross, a steel and psychic type, has a huge advantage over a rock type like Tyranitar" said Max. "Yes but Ash will find a way through this like he always does" said Brock. "Yeah" agreed Tomo. Anabel started off this time, and again with telepathy she told her Metagross to start off with meteor mash. "Counter that with rock smash Tyranitar" said Ash. Metagross and Tyranitar butted their fists with each other from their attacks. "Okay let's go in with fire blast Tyranitar" said Ash. Tyranitar backed away and used fire blast. Metagross did get hit by the fire blast but it was still going. Anabel then told her Metagross to use meteor mash again. Ash commanded Tyranitar to use dark pulse. Metagross did get hit by the dark pulse but Metagross still managed to charge through the attack and punch Tyranitar with meteor mash. The meteor mash made a critical hit on Tyranitar and Tyranitar fainted. It looked like that Anabel had won the second battle, but then Metagross fainted as well. "That dark pulse attack must have been too much for Metagross after it dealt with the fire blast attack" said Brock. "So now both Ash and Anabel have one more pokemon each to use," said Scott "and this last pokemon will be Anabel's favored pokemon".

Anabel's final and favored pokemon was an Espeon, and Ash sent out his last pokemon Umbreon. "Cool it's a battle between two Eevee evolutions" said Max. "I can't wait to see how this will turn out" said May. Ash told his Umbreon to use quick attack and Anabel, through telepathy, told her Espeon to do the same. Umbreon got the hardest tackle from Espeon. Next both Umbreon and Espeon did iron tail attacks, and again Umbreon got the hardest hit. It was clear that Anabel's Espeon was very strong. 'Now Espeon use zap cannon' said Anabel, in telepathy. As Espeon fired a zap cannon attack, Umbreon dodged it and struck Espeon with feint attack. The one thing about zap cannon is that it's powerful but inaccurate. Ash ordered Umbreon to use secret power and Espeon got tackled and paralyzed; since it was used in a building it caused paralysis. "Espeon try to relax and use zap cannon again" said Anabel. Espeon managed to use zap cannon, but it missed Umbreon. "Dark pulse Umbreon" said Ash. Umbreon's dark pulse attack hit Espeon and scored a direct hit. "Now Umbreon let's finish this with a quick attack". Umbreon tackled Espeon hard and Espeon fainted, making Ash the winner of the Battle Tower challenge.

Anabel praised her Espeon for battling so hard and congratulated Ash on his win. "You and your pokemon gave me a surprising and wonderful battle Ash". "I enjoyed the battle too" said Ash. Anabel handed him the frontier symbol called the Ability symbol and it had a sort of cone shape in the middle. "Hey Ash," said Scott "since you have obtained the sixth symbol this means you can now challenge the seventh battle facility, the Battle Pyramid". "Where is it?" asked Ash. "I placed the data on your pokenav" said Scott. Ash looked at his pokenav and found out that the Battle Pyramid was beyond Pewter City. He thanked Scott for the advice, and then he turned to Anabel. "Hey Anabel mind if you and I have a private talk somewhere?" he asked her. Anabel was surprised by Ash's request but agreed. She led Ash away to her room, leaving everyone else on the battlefield, even Pikachu. "I wonder what Ash wants to talk to Anabel about and privately?" said May. Max and Tomo had no idea, but Brock felt that he may know why.

In Anabel's room Anabel started to talk. "So what did you want to talk about Ash?" she asked. "Well first of all I want to say that you are one amazing girl," said Ash "and second I want to do this". He gave her a quick peck on the lip. "I like you Anabel". He was now smiling and blushing. Anabel was both shocked and blushing. Then a second later she hugged Ash. "I like you two Ash" she replied. Ash returned the hug; this was a start of a love relationship between Ash and Anabel.

A few minutes later Ash and Anabel joined the others. "What were you two talking about?" asked May. "Oh just something to do without psychic powers" lied Ash; he didn't want the others to know what they had really been doing. Unfortunately for Ash, Brock had the feeling that Ash wasn't telling the truth but he decided to talk to Ash later when May, Tomo and Max weren't around.

So Ash and the gang said goodbye to Scott and Anabel and continued on their journey. Ash and Anabel had exchanged numbers, emails and addresses and hoped to see each other again later.

I'm so sorry for the long wait; my older sister kept on hogging my computer and I had to help her move into her new place. Another thing I also had trouble with how to start off the relationship between Ash and Anabel. They will be talking to each other on phones during the series and Anabel will meet up with him in Pallet town before he leaves for Sinnoh and Unova. They made Ash too unprepared when he battled Anabel for the first time in the anime; besides he knew before that psychic pokemon were tough. I know Brock entered the pokemon contest in Gardenia Town, but remember he is not a flirt in this story.
