Ash's Pokemon Journey
Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.
Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.
Chapter 99
Mulberry Contest,
Back at the Pewter Gym
And the King of Pokelantis
May was feeling under pressured today. The gang had come to a city called Mulberry City and there was a pokemon contest there. Bad news was this was the final pokemon contest being held in the Kanto region; so May had to win the ribbon here otherwise she wouldn't be able to enter the Kanto Grand Festival. Since Ash already had five ribbons he offered to help May train for this pokemon contest and May agreed. Another unfortunate thing for May is that Harley was there. Harley had already earned five ribbons for the Kanto Grand Festival, and since May still needed just one more Harley helped himself to picking on May for that. This of course maid May very cross with Harley and she vowed to get her fifth ribbon, and deal with Harley at the grand festival like she did at the Hoenn Grand Festival.
After doing some last training with Ash, May made her way to the waiting room in the contest hall while the others took their seats in the audience. May soon found out the other competitors in the waiting room also needed just one more ribbon like she did, so she really needed to give it her all in this last pokemon contest.
Now the pokemon contest started. Lillian did the usual introductions and showed off the Mulberry Ribbon. The Mulberry Ribbon was a gift bow and it was pink with a white outline. Harley was watching the audience seat, but he was hoping and cursing that May would lose and not earn the last ribbon. The thing with Harley not liking May was back when he was in kindergarten a girl that looked just like May ate his octopus shaped wiener without his permission. He was so upset by that and ever since then he has hated doppelgangers of that girl ever since, and sadly May was one of them. Harley was not the only watching the contest, Drew was too. He wanted to see if May would win her last ribbon here.
The appeal rounds started. All the competitors gave their all in this round since this was their last chance to earn a fifth ribbon. Soon it was May's turn and she was using her Combusken in the appeal rounds. She started off with Combusken showing his mega kick attack, then Combusken created a fiery tornado with fire spin and last of all May tossed a frisbee to Combusken and Combusken used sky uppercut to finish.
After the appeal round was over, the results came and May made it to the battle rounds. "Great, May made it to the second round" said Max. "She better watch it though," said Ash "since this is the last pokemon contest before the grand festival the other coordinators will be giving their all in the battle rounds too". The others saw the point. Harley was not happy that May made it to the second round and he hoped she would lose in the second round. Drew kept on watching.
Ash was right about the second rounds; the other coordinators were fighting their hardest to get to the finals. May was first up against an opponent who used a Skarmory and she was using Squirtle. Skarmory started with steel wing, but Squirtle used a fast rapid spin and Skarmory was bounced off when it tried to hit Squirtle with steel wing. It was almost like using the move counter. May then ordered Squirtle to use ice beam but Skarmory dodge it. Skarmory then attacked with swift, but Squirtle countered it with bubble attack. Soon the time was up and May had more points than her opponent, so May won the first battle round.
The battles went on until at last it was the final round. May had made it to the finals and just needed to defeat one more opponent. Her opponent was a woman named Janet and she was using a Banette. Bad news was Banette knew the move thunder, which was trouble for Squirtle. But as Squirtle knew protect, Banette was in trouble too. Banette fought hard with thunder, will o wisp and frustration, and Squirtle fought hard with ice beam, bubble, protect and bite. The fight went on and on until at last Squirtle took Banette down with a water gun attack. So May was the winner of the Mulberry Contest and she won her fifth ribbon at last. Harley was frustrated by this and he vowed to defeat May at the Kanto Grand Festival.
That evening Ash and May were looking over the info of the Kanto Grand Festival; it said it was going to take place at the Indigo Plateau. "Wow it will be like going to the Indigo League again, but this time with pokemon contests" chuckled Ash. "I can't wait for this" said May. Just then Drew turned up. He congratulated May for earning her place in the Kanto Grand Festival, and he also said he would look forward to going against both Ash and May in the tournament.
Now with May finally having five contest ribbons, Ash could now look forward for battling against the last battle frontier challenge.
After the Mulberry Contest was over, the gang had made it to Pewter City. They had decided to visit Brock's home first before heading over to the Battle Pyramid. "It will be nice seeing my family again" said Brock. "I can't wait to see your gym Brock and all of your pokemon" said Max. "Hey Brock is it all right for us to visit your parents?" asked Ash. Ash remembered Brock telling them about his parents being unwell. "Don't you worry Ash," said Brock "I phoned my parents and they said it is fine, and my mum's health has improved ever since I last saw them". The others felt relieved to hear that.
When they arrived at the Pewter Gym they saw the gym had been decorated but in a disgusting sort of way. Instead of being the normal grey and brown colored gym, it was now purple, green, blue, white and orange with a big rose on top. It looked like a dancing club instead of a pokemon gym. Brock didn't like this one bit.
The gang went into Brock's house, where his brothers and sisters greeted him at once. Brock was also greeted by the pokemon Growlithe, Weepinbell, Miltank, Stantler, Ludicolo, Chansey, Blissey, Ninetails, the nine Bonslys and by the five Larvitars. May and Max were impressed by Brock's big family. Brock asked his little siblings about what happened to the gym at once. The siblings explained that their parents decided to decorate a gym a bit more; just to give it a bit greyer with grey boulders because of the other rock pokemon Brock had caught. But when the gym remodelers came they did it all wrong; they kept on giving it weird coats of paint, which was something their parents didn't want. The siblings asked Brock to put it right again and Brock asked his siblings where their parents were now.
Apparently Flint and Lola were in the hospital; Lola had collapsed and needed to stay in the hospital again. Brock phoned his dad at the hospital and told him what he heard from his siblings. "Your mother and I were horrified with what the remodelers did to the gym especially since they did nothing we wanted," said Flint "I want to deal with those remodelers again, but I can't leave your mother's side yet". "You leave it to me dad," said Brock "you concentrate of taking care of mum". Flint thanked Brock and finished the phone call.
Forrest showed the gang what the inside of the gym looked like; it was like an art museum for crazy people. Splashes of paints were everywhere and it looked very unattractive. The gang didn't like this one bit, especially Brock. Brock's Steelix and Graveler, and Flint's Tyranitar and Golem were guarding the gym and they hated it too. All the other pokemon of Brocks and Flints were in the pokeballs in the storage room. Brock really needed to sort this out.
Brock cooked a meal for everyone and his siblings were happy to have Brock's cooking again. Brock asked his siblings what the remodelers, who changed the gym, were like. The siblings explained that they were three people; two men and one woman. "I'll have a talk with those remodelers and we will get the gym back to normal" said Brock. His siblings were happy to hear that.
What they didn't know was that the gym remodelers were really Jessie, James and Meowth in disguise; they were planning to steal the pokemon from the Pewter Gym. They had heard that Flint and Lola were in the hospital and thought this was a good chance to steal the pokemon. But they also heard that Brock had returned and the others were there too. "What shall we do about the twerps?" asked Meowth. "If they do get in the way we can just rely on our newly evolved pokemon" smiled Jessie. "You're right about that" smiled James.
Team Rocket, still disguised as gym remodelers, ran the bell on Brock's house and Brock and his siblings answered the door. When Brock's siblings saw them they told Brock at once they were the ones who remodeled the gym. "I was about to contact you," said Brock "I want you to put the gym back to normal. You made our gym look revolting". "Hey we don't take that kind of insults of our work!" shouted Jessie. "Yeah and if you want us to put it right you will have to pay us good" said Meowth. "I'm afraid Brock won't be paying you anything Team Rocket!" shouted Ash, who saw through their disguise, "I recognize your voice easily Meowth". Tomo's Growlithe used flamethrower and the flames burnt away Team Rocket's disguises. Brock was not happy to see this. "Why am I not surprised you three would be behind this?!" he shouted. Jessie growled. "Now you are going to get it!" she shouted. She and James quickly backed away from the house and let out an Ursaring and an Exploud. "Remember our Teddiursa and Loudred?" asked Jessie "well they are now an Ursaring and Exploud, and they are stronger than ever". "We'll see about that!" shouted Ash. He was going to help Brock battle Team Rocket.
Brock sent out his Steelix to battle and Ash sent out his Blaziken to battle. Jessie and James both told their Exploud and Ursaring to use hyper beam. Steelix and Blaziken both used protect so the hyper beam attacks did no harm to them. "Time to fight back," said Ash "Blaziken use flamethrower". "Steelix use flash cannon" said Brock. Exploud and Ursaring got hit by the flamethrower and flash cannon attack. "Now Steelix use iron tail" said Brock. "Use blaze kick Blaziken" said Ash. Steelix struck Exploud hard with iron tail, and Blaziken kicked Ursaring very hard. Both Exploud and Ursaring fainted in the second. "I'll take it from here," said Forrest "as the future gym leader of Pewter Gym I cannot forgive for what Team Rocket had done to the gym". He took out a pokeball and sent out an Onix. "You have your own Onix huh Forrest?" asked Brock. "Yep dad gave it to me a few months ago" said Forrest. Forrest ordered his Onix to use sandstorm and Team Rocket got blown away in defeat.
After Team Rocket's defeat Brock called some real gym remodelers to return the gym to its former glory. Flint returned from the hospital that evening; Lola had to stay overnight at the hospital. Brock explained to his dad about Team Rocket being the ones who ruined the gym. Flint thanked his son and his friends for their help. The gang stayed at Brock's place for the night, and next day they said goodbye to Brock's family and they left for the Battle Pyramid.
The gang was getting near to the Battle Pyramid, which was located in the forest area outside Pewter City. The gang soon saw what looked like the top of a dark grey pyramid overlooking some trees. "That must be the Battle Pyramid, let's go and get my final symbol" said Ash. But just as the gang walked on they suddenly fell down a hole and they got trapped in some sort of chamber. "Where are we?" asked Max. Brock looked at the walls and saw ancient pictures and writing. "It looks like we are in some ancient ruins" said Brock. "How shall we get out?" asked May. "We will have to follow the tunnels to find an exit" said Brock.
While walking down a tunnel, the gang saw a stone statue of a Pikachu. Tomo was about to touch it, but Ash quickly stopped him before he did touch it. "We must not touch anything," said Ash "I have read the stories and seen the movies about ancient ruins like this, and they all have horrible booby traps. So we must be careful while walking down these ruins and that also means no touching anything". "Well said young man, you shouldn't touch anything here" said a voice.
The voice belonged to a man and he was dressed as an archeologist. "What you kids doing in here?" asked the man. Ash explained they were heading for the Battle Pyramid but they fell down a hole, which lead them to the ruins. "I see," said the man "well I will lead you kids out of here myself". "Please excuse me sir," said Ash "but are you by any chance the frontier brain of the Battle Pyramid?" "Yes, I am the Pyramid King Brandon," said the man "and I take it your here to challenge me?" "I am my name is Ash, and I'm also here to earn my final frontier symbol" said Ash. "I will accept your battle Ash," said Brandon "but I have ruins down here to explore before we can have our battle". Brandon explained he was a researcher, explorer and protector of all ancient ruins around the pokemon world, and right now he was researching the ancient civilization of Pokelantis.
Pokelantis was an ancient empire that existed a very long, long time ago and it was now buried way under the ground outside of Pewter City. Brandon explained the last king of Pokelantis was an evil, greedy ruler and he wished to rule the whole world. To make the whole world his own he wished to capture the legendary pokemon Ho-Oh and use its powers. Because of the king's evilness Ho-Oh destroyed all of Pokelantis, until there was nothing left but the tomb chamber of the king. The king, who survived was furious and vowed revenge of Ho-Oh. "And they say that the king created a stone orb and captured the legendary Ho-Oh with it" finished Brandon.
The gang was fascinated by the story. "Please excuse me Brandon, but I don't believe that the king had really captured Ho-Oh," said Ash "no offense but I've seen Ho-Oh myself a couple of times and I do know that it's a pokemon that would never let people, especially evil ones, capture it that easily no matter what". Brandon stared at Ash. "You seem to be quite knowledgeable about Ho-Oh," he said "care to tell me more about it Ash?"
While the gang talked with Brandon, there was trouble sneaking around in the ruins. A man was looking through a chamber; this man was a tomb robber. He had heard about the legendary empire Pokelantis and he had come to search the ruins for treasure or other riches. Taking care not to set off any booby traps, the tomb robber came across a stone door with strange circle and pentagon symbols on it. The tomb robber touched the door to see if he could open it, when suddenly the door spun round taking the tomb robber with it. As soon as the tomb robber entered the other side of the door, the torches suddenly lit up by themselves like magic revealing a big chamber. The tomb robber saw a massive statue of a king and realized he was standing in the resting tomb of the evil king of Pokelantis. The tomb robber saw a stone orb, shaped like an ancient pokeball. "There must be some ancient pokemon living in there," he said "oh-ho this will make me rich". He picked up the stone orb, but when a black, purplish energy appeared out of the orb and covered the tomb robber. The tomb robber screamed.
Back with the gang Ash suddenly shot his head up. "What's wrong Ash?" asked Brock, knowing that Ash was sensing something was up. "I feel a really evil presence down the tunnels there" said Ash. Before anyone could ask Ash another question, the tom robber turned up and the energy still surrounded him. "Who are you?!" shouted Brandon "and what are you doing down here?!" He didn't like trespassers or tomb robbers. The tomb robber chuckled. Brandon saw the stone orb in the man's hand and realized what had happened. "You're the king of Pokelantis who tried to capture Ho-Oh" he said. "That is right," said the king, talking through the tomb robber, "I left my soul into the orb I created so one day I would finish what I started; ruling the world with the power of Ho-Oh, and thanks to this foolish tomb robber touching my orb I am now free". "You are not going to rule over anything" said Ash, angrily. He was about to grab a pokeball, but Brandon stopped him. "I insist we have a pokemon battle to see if you are capable of doing that" said Brandon. The king agreed to that idea. The tomb robber did have pokemon with him and the king was going to use them.
Everyone went to the battlefield of the Battle Pyramid, which was a normal battle field. The gang went to sit in the stands. "I don't like this" said May, who was scared of what was happening here. "Me neither" said Max. Just then Scott entered the arena and he was surprised to see that Ash wasn't battling Brandon yet. Ash explained to Scott what had happened. "Oh my," said Scott "well Brandon will not let this king don't you worry kids. Brandon has a pokemon that can be hard to beat". The gang wondered what pokemon Brandon had. Brandon's assistant Samuel explained the match was a one on one match and declared the battle to begin.
The king threw one of the tomb robber's pokeballs and out came a Victreebel. It was a big surprise for the gang when Brandon tossed his pokeball; he had a Regirock. The gang remembered seeing the legendary golems at the tree of beginning and it was surprising to see Brandon having one of them.
Ash looked at Regirock on his pokedex: Regirock, the rock peak pokemon. Its entire body is made of rock. If any part chips off in battle, it attaches rocks to repair itself.
"That evil king is done for" said Ash. The others agreed because they remembered of how strong a Regirock was.
The king started off by telling Victreebel to use stun spore. Regirock used sandstorm and the sandstorm blew the stun spore away before it could hit Regirock. The king ordered Victreebel to use leaf blade and Victreebel charged towards Regirock. Brandon ordered Regirock to use focus punch and Regirock punched Victreebel really hard. "Wow that Regirock is really strong, the king doesn't have a chance here" said Max. Ash watched Regirock carefully to try and figure out what pokemon he should use when he challenges Brandon. The king was getting angrier and angrier by this time. "No more Mr nice guy use leaf storm Victreebel!" he shouted. Victreebel launched a leaf storm attack at Regirock and the leaf storm hit Regirock. But despite leaf storm being a grass type it wasn't enough to hurt Regirock that much. 'Anabel was right when she told me that the last battle facility was very difficult to beat' thought Ash. Brandon ordered his Regirock to use lock on. "Oh-ho now the king is going to get it," said Max "especially when Regirock uses the next move because it won't be able to miss". Max was right because Regirock used hyper beam and it scored a real direct hit on Victreebel, and Victreebel fainted. So Brandon was the winner of the match.
The king was really angry now and he roared out in anger. "What shall we do now?" asked May, who was scared. Ash ordered Pikachu to use thunderbolt on the tomb robber and Pikachu gave him a really good shocking. The king got really weak from the attack. While he was unconscious Brandon took this chance to seal the king back into the stone orb and Samuel quickly tied up the tomb robber with rope. Scott and the gang were relieved that this was over. Seeing what had happened because the tomb robber touched the stone orb made Tomo swear to never touch anything if he ever entered another cave or ruin again.
When the tomb robber woke up he saw Brandon's cross face. Brandon explained to him about the king of Pokelantis controlling him. "I hope that will teach you to not mess with artifacts in ancient ruins again". The tomb robber was in trouble and he was sent to jail for trespassing.
After that Ash asked Brandon if he could battle him now. Brandon agreed but first he had to check the ruins again and place the orb back into the tomb of the king. Ash understood by now that this battle would not be easy, but he looked forward to it.
Sorry for the wait. I call the battling the enemy within episode really stupid; I mean seriously Ash had been in caves and other places with booby traps before this episode and yet the writers had him like he didn't know a thing about ruins and their booby traps and had him touch things he shouldn't. I call it ridiculous of them having him from stupid, to smart and serious, and then to stupid again. Another thing I call unbelievable is that they never see Meowth through his disguise; seriously it's easy to recognize his voice because he doesn't change his voice in disguise and his whiskers and tail are easy to spot. To have everyone understand I'm having Ash challenge Brandon three times, like in the anime, to get the symbol. Having him use a legendary pokemon too would be too easy and I liked him having challenge Brandon three times because it gave him a chance to battle Regirock, Registeel and Regice. To help you up to date; Forrest has a Geodude, Onix, Larvitar and a Bonsly, and he will get Rhyperior later when Brock gets back from Sinnoh.
