Poor Chasey... His life was so much easier before he met me
ENJOY!
No 2. Collars (315 words)
Leo's stomach dropped with dread. The feeling twisting and churning, making him feel sicker than Adam's cooking. The thought of the small device hidden on Leo's skin should have been a comfort. Big D was tracking him, help was coming. This would all soon be over.
But it had stopped being a comfort the moment Leo had stepped foot inside this room. The moment he'd looked into that cursed cell and seen Chase for the first time in three months.
Leo vividly remembered the last time. Chase had rolled his eyes at their jokes. Calling them immature. But the corners of his mouth had been twitching as he shoved past his siblings. He needed to check something in the lab, he'd said. Leo had called after him. Told him they wouldn't wait; you snooze, you lose. When Chase hadn't come back up for dinner they had gone down to check and... Chase had been gone.
Just like that. They hadn't even heard a sound. Taken – ripped – from his family with no warning.
Finding him was supposed to be the hard part. But now, with his brother finally within reach once more, Leo felt more hopeless than that night three months ago. Chase was curled up in a corner, knees pressed up against his chest, empty eyes stuck to the dirty floor. The heavy metal around his neck was glaringly obvious.
His brother had a collar.
The thought made Leo shudder. The man – the monster – beside him patted him roughly on the back, mistaking his distress.
"Do not worry," he said, voice too proud. "I've made sure it's in control."
It – He – Chase.
His brother flinched violently when the man held up his remote for Leo to see. Dread burned in Leo as a broken whimper rose from the cell.
Over? How could it ever be over? How could this be fixed?
It was too wrong.
