A low pitched notification rang above the cabin As the transport shuttle approached the Relay. Sai'ira could see it from the window as it got closer, the magnificent structure looming over the commercial shuttle with the massive gyros spooling up, faster and faster, enough to make a humming noise in the void with the mass effect output shining a bright light in the cabin activating the auto tint on the windows making them black and for a moment Sai'ira felt like she was underwater.

"All passengers prepare for mass relay entry."

She felt the slight change in inertia even with the dampers smaller vessels were always a bit more shaky.

"Entry successful, arrival to the Shadow Sea in fifteen minutes."

Sai'ira remained seated and sipped her water as a few people walked about the dinning cabin, she then brought up her omni-tool to see the message her grandmother had sent her.

I know you're a human now but would it hurt to visit? I haven't seen you in 20 years and the federation got me a beautiful place here on Horizon it's a friggin dream kid. And you wont have to pay for any of it, pls?

Love ya babe

She swiped to the right of the holo-screen shutting the omni-tool off. Aethyta had always helped take care of Sai'ira when her mother disappeared who as far as she knew, Liara had just vanished one day something about a big discovery apparently it was big enough to never come back. She wished she had gone too and she wished she hadn't pretended to be asleep when Liara left. She reached down her shirt and pulled out her fathers Alliance ID tags, more so to make sure they were there. She held them tight before returning them under her shirt. She picked up her jacket and checked to see if anyone was coming down the lane before standing up to stretch her legs. She was sitting in the back of the cabin and made her way past the long counter where various species sat, even a pair of batarians, she eyed them out of curiosity since there weren't many left in the galaxy and since the formation of the Federation they've remained on that side of the galaxy. Sai'ira knew that as a people they were naturally reclusive and she knew enough to not take anything personal with them however, if they knew her name they might take that personal.

A turian male on her right sitting at one of the booths caught her eye and his gaze returned forward quickly. Sai'ira pushed past a few more people as the dinning car began to serve lunch she nearly ran into a human girl or rather a young adult, she had curly hair held back by a head band and dark skin they both apologized for the encounter and moved on only for Sai'ira to have to step to the side and let a waiter walk by pushing a cart of freshly cooked food. She spotted some skewered Thessia sun fish which was a little to thin for her liking but it is a delicacy to some and it smelled fantastic, she thought as she finally reached the end of the counter and the cabin opened up a bit, before the staircase that led to the accommodation cabin was the restrooms which Sai'ira quickly locked the door upon entry.

After relieving herself Sai'ira washed her hands then looked in the mirror, made sure her hair tentacles weren't chafing against each other which was not only uncomfortable but rather unsightly when it creates irritated skin. Her ears were clean and she never really painted her face the way most asari do, she figured the freckles that ran across her light blue nose were distinctive enough to separate herself from other asari, they were rare and actually not what humans would call freckles but a hereditary birthmark that apparently happens to one out of a few thousand asari with salarian lineage. Although she did have dark hazel eyes which comes from humans whose genetics are much more diverse than any other species.

She made her way back to her seat in the back of the cabin and as she looked outside she saw that they had just entered the shadow sea and soon Horizon would be visible. The massive structure that is the mass relay became smaller as they shifted into FTL.

A turian woman stood next to Sai'iras table, she noticed from the reflection in the window figuring her for a waiter the asari turned around she then noticed the gun in her face.

"Everything you got sister."

"This is a robbery!" One of the batarians shouted as four more stood up, Sai'ira saw the cooks behind the dinning counter being forced in front of it by the girl she had run into earlier.

"Beg pardon?" Sai'ira stalled as she counted, one turian female, two batarians about two yards away, two turian males making their way down towards the restrooms while one of the batarians tied up the staff as the human girl was making her way downstairs with one of the turians.

"Cute, comon don't make this hard." She motioned with the gun, something Sai'ira focused on, feeling a buzzing, raw nerve pain down her spine as she concentrated on the barrel of the pistol, glancing to it as it was held about two inches from her face Sai'ira wasn't expecting her to grab at her chest her fathers tags clinking together below her nose which had sapped all concentration.

"What the-oh sh-" The turians wrist sized up and then was shot into the air causing the gun to go off, nearly hitting the window next to her, in three quick jabs the woman fell and before the others could even aim at Sai'ira the turian on the ground shouted "Don't shoot you idiots! we're in a window covered shuttle!"

With a smirk Sai'ira readied herself as the first batarian came running at her, she noticed the dinning cart was only a foot in front of her but that would take her closer to the other batarian running towards her, she blocked the first punch from the first batarian but not the jab to her ribs, she kicked the cart into the batarian running at her and he tumbled over. Successfully deflecting the others blows she batted his arms away with her biotics in one swift motion, like a breast stroke, then with her biotics amplifying the speed of her strikes she used his stomach like a punching bag landing blow after blow finally ending the barrage with a jaw-breaking biotic punch.

"Cal!" The other batarian yelled, Sai'ira didn't have time to turn around so he helped her out, grabing her by the shoulder and whipping the asari around Sai'ira wasn't fast enough to evade his shot to her right eye that knocked her back a few steps. However (with one eye closed) she was barely able to doge his second attack, clumsily moving under him only to come face-to-face with a angry turian who quickly threw a punch that Sai'ira caught with the back of her wrist and with an open palm she sent a strike to his abdomen using her biotics to floor the turian Sai'ira even knocked herself back against the bar with the Batarian now charging her with a knife.

As though she was weightless Sai'ira lifted herself up with her back now laying on the counter. The knife just missing between her legs, With all the strength she could muster Sai'ira propelled her legs in a twirl the purple hue forming on her heal as she slammed it into the sinus of the batarian, hearing a distinct cracking noise as she lost her balance and fell back behind the bar. Sai'ira rubbed her eyes as the spots began to fade she sat up, realizing she had crashed into plates and glasses with a bottle of ketchup rolling on the floor as she felt a tri-grip on her shirt pulling her up, the turian lifting her on the counter top and pinning her.

"Uh, ketchup?" Sai'ira asked holding the bottle, "Oh wait...it's not dextro."

Seeing the mild confusion in his eyes and soon that wouldn't be all as she squeezed the bottle sending a squirt of red tomato sauce into his left eye.

"Ah! Fucking bitch!" He said, slamming his elbow into her abdomen Sai'ira let out a gasping grunt of pain as she rolled over onto the barstools then tumbled onto the floor.

She clutched her side and her head was pounding but Shepard forced her hands onto the floor, stabilizing herself with the counter as she stood up. The turian now standing before her with a ketchup covered eye she could see the levo infection occurring making his eye red as the ketchup. Still holding her side she concentrated on her fist, feeling the biotic nerve pain surround it she held her clenched hand out in front of her, beckoning the turian as he picked up the knife dropped by his comrade. He charged her like she expected but then his face was met with a stool, knocking him down one of the patrons hit the turian again and again until he dropped the knife.

They both stood over him as he moaned in pain, Sai'ira looking to the older human male who had saved her. "Good hit, right in the mandible." She said, kicking the knife across the aisle, she began to make her way to the second level of the shuttle where the other two had gone until she felt a hand on her arm.

"Miss." It was the human with his graying hair, is this what my father would have looked like? She thought, old, out of shape, and with a funny walk? She pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind.

"Yeah?"

"We're all grateful for what you've done but maybe we should just lock the doors, you don't really look like you're in any condition to keep fighting."

She thought about it for a moment and that almost felt like a mistake, she felt the skin tightening around her eye as it swelled, her side was pounding and hurt every time she took a breath which could mean one or more broken ribs, and she had failed to notice the little cuts on her arms from rolling around in the broken glass and plates, it made her wish she had put her jacket on but too late now.

"No, we don't know where they're taking us...but." She walked over to the turian the older man had beaten over the head and picked up the pistol off his mag-holster the weapon unfolding in her hand with a mechanical whirring noise, like a power tool.

"I'll have one of these." She assured before heading down the stairs, the cockpit was straight ahead after a few steps and from the looks of things the pilots were locked inside, Sai'ira tapped the door just to be sure.

"Anyone in there?" She asked pulling up her omni-tool, using a little program to check heart beats through the wall.

"Yeah, they locked us in!" One shouted back.

"How many of you are in there?"

"Just me! They took Kallam hostage and brought him to the cargo hold, told me to fly to some rendezvous point."

The Salarians fluttering heartbeat was the only thing she saw, swiping over the screen she closed it and gave the door a little knock. "Sit tight."

"W-wait aren't you gonna get me outta here? Hey!"

Sai'ira didn't have to time chat now that she was in a hostage situation, she did her best to ignore her injuries, applying medi-gel to her side from an emergency dispensary certainly helped dull the pain as she walked down the cabin corridor with the bunk rooms on either side. She was holding up her heartbeat sensor along with her pistol as she carefully made her was down the corridor. Lareniea, her teacher would probably have told her how sloppy she was, focusing on your biotics isn't exactly easy when there's a gun in your face but it wasn't the first time. The simple movements were easy but the complex stuff like moving the female turians arm? That requires skill, especially since Sai'ira meant to snap her wrist.

She found a few heart beats throughout to the rooms and clearing them would he a pain but after taking a few steps to the first door she felt the ground shake under her as loud noise came from the depths of the ship, they're escaping! She thought and raced down to the hold, her gun at the ready, as she carefully made her way down the stairs. When she entered the hold she immediately spotted the turian and human girl as they loaded their ship with their loot.

"It's over! Now put your gun down and back away from the airlock."

"What the hell?" The turian bore a confused look as he aimed his pistol at her, grabbing the salarian pilot he stepped back towards the airlock where the human girl emerged her gun going from hip to hand faster than Sai'ira could blink.

"Hey blue, this isn't about bumping into you is it?" She motioned for the turian to get on the ship.

"I said don't move!" Sai'ira ordered.

"I heard you, but you don't scare me, listen we got when we wanted, just let us go, the authorities will be here soon anyway."

Sai'ira felt frustration buliding up in her forehead as she let out a breath and focused on her hand, she wanted to push her into a wall and make a break for the airlock, seemed easy enough.

"Ok, then by the authority of the asari who just beat the hell out of all five of your friends by herself I'm warning you, make this easy just-" Sai'ira took a step closer to her but didn't see the fire extinguisher next to her head that was mounted on a pillar, a shot rang out and she was instantly blinded, she threw her arm wildly sending three bursts of biotic energy out in front of her. She heard the airlock shut and the low hum of a ship engine taking off.

When the smoke cleared she found herself covered in white powder chemicals as she slowly walked towards the airlock. Kallam was sitting handcuffed next to the airlock door and looked up at her.

"Anyone get hurt?" He asked

"Just me it would seem, and the other five goons upstairs."

"I've heard of asari like you, are you a justicar?" He asked.

"No but I uh, trained with one. It's complicated." She added, while she looked dejectedly out the small veiwing window as the ship escaped into the void.

"Im certainly gonna hear about this later." She muttered, turning to Kallam she helped him up. And let out a grunt of pain as they walked up stairs.

"Can I get a couple drinks on the house?"
