E'nea T'loaks office reminded Sai'ira more of a throne room but then again that's probably the point. The ceiling was slanted and swept down to her right where Sai'ira could see a small bar close to her desk and a couch next to it. The other noticeable feature would probably be the window that covered the back wall, showing the stunning New Horizon skyline. Sai'ira probably could have stared at it for hours, with Skycars and shuttles dotting the air. And to her immediate left was a live size sculpture of Be'ari Vaera a famous Asari queen born nearly one hundred thousand years prior when most of Thessia was feudal. Next to it a few feet away was a set of armor on the shoulder there was the omega symbol with a large gnash on the lower abdomen about six inches in diameter it looked like a rough puncture wound.

The room was silent, Sai'ira had a bit of a tickle in her throat and when she cleared it there was a bit of an echo, on either side of Sai'ira standing a foot behind her was an armed guard, a batarian and a human with Maxine standing right at her side. Sai'ira looked down at her bare feet, torn dress, and her arm was in a cast and sling. Aethyta was going to be angry, Shepards daughter mistakes security for criminals, she knew that Max was the woman from the shuttle, perhaps it was just a side job? Something E'nea would want to hear about, Sai'ira imagined that the governor wouldn't be fond of Interstellar robbery during an occupation.

The doors to the office opened and the quick clacking of heals followed.

"Sai'ira Shepard, daughter of Liara T'soni and John Shepard-hero of the galaxy- and granddaughter to my advisor Aethyta." She said 'hero' with a reluctant tone, Sai'ira wasn't sure why.

Maxine took a sharp inhale as E'nea passed both of them in her extravagant golden gown and walked in front of her desk, leaning against it and crossing her arms. Aethyta slowly walked up behind Sai'ira, her gaze resting on Maxine they stared at each other for a moment Aethyta broke the silence first, unsurprisingly.

"We gonna fucking stare at each other all day or are you going to tell me why I'm here and not downstairs eating steak and drinking champagne?"

Sai'ira almost cracked a smile but E'neas piercing gaze stopped her. Sai'ira could see she had the look that most confident fighters had. A 'try me' look, or perhaps intimidation runs in the T'loak family the way blind luck ran with the Shepard's.

"You stalked and beat one of my employees." E'nea said, tilting her head. "Ruined an elevator, and nearly killed three guests when the glass broke and fell six stories below."

"Oh, and removed me from my gala." Her expression didn't change, her look was that of curiosity, intent, E'nea was also shockingly calm now that Sai'ira realized what she had done.

"Because..." Her head titled forward awaiting an answer.

"I'm not sure if you're aware but a few days ago a shuttle I was on was robbed by Maxine here when I saw her I thought the same would happen again."

"My, my. Miss Roth do you have anything to say for yourself?" Maxine's face looked like it was about to melt before she could say anything E'nea held up a hand.

"I know about the 'robbery' I authorized it."

Sai'ira looked to Aethyta who shrugged in response.

"You see the Alliance has been smuggling all sorts of things onto my planet, from guns, to food...personnel." She sat up and walked toward Sai'ira who stood in place, E'nea raised her brow looking down at her bare feet. She shook her head as she then made her way to the bar, uncorking a bottle with a loud "thump" echoing in the room.

"So I had undercover operatives trying stopping them however, you thwarted my people rather spectacularly. Aethyta has informed me that you were trained by one of the last remaining Justicars in the fine and ancient art of yu'ui."

"Lareniea, I haven't seen her in years."

"hm." E'nea looked to the armed guards. "leave us-not You Max."

The two guards left the room, and after hearing the door slide open and shut the governor took a swig from her glass as she turned around.

"My cyber security team also picked up an interesting transmission from your omni-tool. An encryption favored by the Shadow Broker, I had my suspicions about Korta but this is much better than I thought."

"I..." Sai'ira didn't know what to say, again she looked to Aethyta who stood with her arms crossed analyzing E'nea, glancing at Sai'ira with a concerned look on her face.

"I just met the ambassador, I wouldn't even know what the broker would want with me." Sai'ira replied.

"I have an idea." E'nea narrowed her eyes as she returned to her desk this time sitting behind it, leaning back into the chair.

"I would like to make contact with the Broker. Although I get the feeling that Korta would be much more receptive towards you than me."

"So I talk to Korta Kon, what if he doesn't help?"

"I think he will, his family served on the kwunu. The Reapers had a way of putting things together...even now."

Sai'ira saw her eyeing the damaged armor, her lips twisted as she took a swig of the drink she had poured and stood up. "Max," Maxines green eyes perked up and she stood straighter than Sai'ira thought she already was.

"Make sure this meeting happens I want you with miss Shepard every step of the way." She turned to Aethyta, "I'm sure Maxine here wouldn't be imposing at your estate?"

"Not at all, miss T'loak." Sai'ira never heard her grandmother speak so reverently, especially to a maiden. 'pipsqueak' or 'dumbass' is how she normally referred to them or in Sai'iras case she tended to be a bit nicer.

"Good, good. Mind sticking around?"

"Of course."

"Alright, Max make sure Sai'ira finds her way home probably not the best idea to bring her back downstairs, yeah?"

"Right away ma'am." Max turned to Sai'ira and motioned with her head towards the door, Sai'ira turned back only once to see what was the most grim look she had ever gotten from her grandmother. It was then she knew she was in deep, a blanket of dread stretched over her as she realized what E'nea would do with access to as much information the Shadow Broker is rumored to have.

Max seemed to have multiple thoughts racing around as well. After leaving the office they got in the elevator heading down to the private shuttle lot. Sai'ira had some trouble swiping around on her omni-tool with her arm in a sling however she was able to make it work even though she was garnering a look from Max, her new chaperone.

"Um," Max began. "Listen, I'm sorry I pointed a gun at you, but now we're both working for E'nea so I just wanted to clear the air...a bit, I just want to do my job, which is to make sure you do your job and as long as you do that then we're good."

The door opened and before the valet approached Sai'ira turned to Max. "Don't worry, I'm sure this will all be over soon and you can go back to...what ever it is you do for miss T'loak."

Sai'ira stepped off the elevator and the valet approached, addressing Max.

"I'll have your car up in a minute Max."

"Thanks Farik." The salarian headed off and Sai'ira could feel daggers on the side of her face looking to her left Max was staring at her.

"Yes?"

She parted her lips but shook her head. "You know how to get ahold of Korta?"

"I think so, I just sent a message asking for a meeting guess I have to wait." Not for too long, her wrist lit up and Sai'ira curiously looked down, their was another message; Unfortunately miss Shepard the broker requires you do something for him first, a simple task. Meet a turian named Fel Porthi, he's has an office north of the Pantheon, 1107 89th st.

"Goddess, this is already giving me a headache. Where's 89th street?"

"Financial district, good street food though, that where we're meeting kon?" Max said, as her skycar approached.

"Well I guess I know where we're going tomorrow. The broker wants me to find a guy named Fel Porthi...Porth-I, I don't know, all I got was an address."

"I don't like going in halfcocked but if we don't have any other leads. Either way I'll want a cold shower first."

The doors to her blue skycar popped open and swung upwards as the two got in Sai'ira felt her wrist more than anything, perhaps a cold shower wasn't a bad idea. "I'm sure the guest house has a good shower Titus can show you to your room."

"Titus? He your butler or something?" Max engaged the engines which felt a little stronger than most that or she's simply a fast driver.

"Or something, Aethytas caretaker. Not sure what I can get away with yet though I only just met him two days ago."

"Ok...so a justicar huh? What's that?"

"You're awfully inquisitive."

"It's my job. You don't have to answer."

"No-no I don't mind just-"

"What?"

"Your job, What do you do for E'nea? You don't send a security guard to raid a shuttle. You give off the military vibe, some kind of secret service?"

"Secret service, I like that. I fix things for her, she needs someone looked into I look into it, protection, I protect. Investigations my specialty but it lends itself to other situations...and uh, no I wasn't in the military."

"I see, former police?"

"C-SEC."

"Damn, what happened? Got fed up with the system and had to do things on your own?" Sai'ira was being facetious and Max certainly picked up on it narrowing her eyes at her in a slight turn of the head.

"Nah, I liked it." Sai'ira felt the skycar dip as max changed lanes. "The villas right?"

"Yeah, it's the one with the tile roof."

"My mom died, four years ago, I was born here but always wanted to go to the Citidel, be a cop. Watched too many vids ya know?"

"I know what you mean, er-sorry about your mom. What about your dad?" Sai'ira felt a little uncomfortable with the follow up question but it just came out naturally.

"Pirate raid in the colonies, he was a freighter-good money if you work for the right company. I came here to take care of my mom but even modern medicine can't fix dementia."

"Hm." Sai'ira bit the inside of her cheek, glancing over to Max, she still had a gun on her hip. "Lareniea. The justicar, she taught me everything I know, I spent my teens and mid thirties under her tutelage on Earth. Left there for a while came back. I was raised by her and a friend of my mothers, Miranda. Closest thing I have to a mom."

"What happened to her, your mom?"

"I don't know, she just, disappeared or something when I was twelve. I don't think about it much, I had plenty of people to fill the roll."

"Still," Max seemed to mumble when she glanced to Shepard she changed the subject. "Well, I know all about your dad and how I owe my existence to him."

Sai'ira chuckled, "Me too."
