Chapter 5: Karakura town
KARAKURA TOWN - HUMAN WORLD - MIDDAY
After they entered the glowing hole, they suddenly saw the sunny, clear blue sky.
As they jumped down from the flying energy slice, which then disappeared, they luckily landed on an empty street as they found out.
As for the three youngsters: It is the first time they see the human world, and their first impression is: it's quite unusual. The first thing the three noticed was that there were strange marks and symbols on the street.
Behind the walls which surrounded them were many houses, like in Seireitei, the only difference is that those houses all looked distinct from each other.

While walking, the three also saw many pylons like structures. But instead of wood, those pylons seemed to consist of metal, what's more, all of those metal pylons seemed to be linked with each other with some kind of strands, which also seemed made of metal.
They went further until they saw right now the largest building in their range.
Near that building's entrance stood a sign in Kanji, which Shiyo immediately read.
"what's with that kind of large building? , it has no roof tiles." Fujimaru wondered.
"If I read it right, 'Mashiba-Middle-School' the sign says." Shiyo added.
"so that's how schools look like in the human world, interesting" Matsuri concluded with curiosity.
"you think we could look around, I mean Humans can't see us, right ?" Shiyo asked excitingly since it's indeed the first time for the three to be in the Human world.
Fujimaru put his left hand, fisting, on his stretched left hand, " good Idea, Shiyo" he approved while he and Shiyo were preparing to jump on the wall of the school building, only to be stopped by his twin sister.
"Are you crazy, that's still a school. You can't enter a school without permission, right? " Matsuri said to her brother and Shiyo before looking towards Shinji.
"well, since It's your first day here in the human world, and also about what Shiyo said, I think it wouldn't hurt to cast a closer glance, but … " " … since you three will possibly get easily lost, Ashido could accompany you three. I and Naibu will wait here for you."
Ashido wanted to protest at first, but then realized that compared to himself, everyone would be able to see Shinji, so Ashido nodded in agreement.
Ashido then jumped behind the wall, followed by the three youngsters.
MASHIBA MIDDLE SCHOOL – KARAKURA TOWN – HUMAN WORLD
Besides the fact that the building was quite large, the group of four now could see that there was enough free area between the wall and the building, Matsuri even though it was large enough that they could install a large garden.
What's more, while walking in this free area, Ashido and the three youngsters could also see four children. Three boys and a black-haired girl, all of them were playing with other children in their age, as Fujimaru thought, with a ball on a strange-looking field.
The group then came closer to the playing children.
Ashido, meanwhile, realized that they play that famous sports game called 'soccer' in the school's sports area. And seeing the behavior of the black-haired girl, she was shouting towards her fellow team members, she must be her team's leader. The four watched for awhile their game.
"wow, that girl seems real to have her team under control" Shiyo stated with a happy expression and voice.
"seeing that girl awakens some old memories," Matsuri stated, but not as happy as Shiyo.
"really? you never said that you enjoyed scolding us back then" Fujimaru wondered while remembering their time together in the 11th Barracks, where Matsuri frequently was the coach at the Group training.
"I didn't! which female 'coach' would enjoy remembering how she's coaching men while being 'stared' with those pervert eyes. " Matsuri stated while making a face of disgust, not wanting to remember those stares.
While the three continued their talk, Ashido saw that besides those children near them, no one was in the school building. Then he remembered that it's summer vacation right now, which means that those children here are attending those so-called 'Club activities', to which soccer is an example of many others.
"now I see even more clear why that girl somehow reminds me of 'someone'." Fujimaru commented comically while looking towards the black-haired girl.
Shiyo started to laugh at that comment.
"Well, what a coincidence! Those three lazy boys remind me even more clear of someone as well." Matsuri commented rather provoked, with a slightly angry expression.
"That's something the soul society and the Human world have in common, I guess" Ashido commented as well to the three youngsters, making them all laugh, even Ashido.

But then, out of nowhere, the black-haired girl turned her head towards them, facing a group of strangers, two teenagers, each with a black colored kimono and a Katana, another girl with a yellow kimono and without any weapon and an adult man with red hair, a red kimono, across those a brown fur coat and more strangely, a white mask on that man's left side, very similar to those like the strange monsters she could see. And he also carried a Katana.
All of them realize that the girl is looking straight towards them.
Besides wondering why those strangers wear those old fashioned Kimono clothes, she then looked towards her friends.
"Guys, do you know who those people are ? " the black-haired girl asked her male friends, still looking towards Ashido's direction.
"what are you talking about Karin, I see no one "One of her friends, a boy with messy brown hair and freckles on his face, answered.
The expression on the black-haired girl became very pale, as Matsuri realized.
"Ashido … " Matsuri said, intending to ask a certain question
"I know, she can see us … " Ashido answered his follower's question before they could ask.
Ashido now realized that the girl, presumably named Karin, is looking straight towards his eyes.
"I think it's time to go back, ready everyone? " Ashido asked the three youngsters.
"yeah, I also believe that there's nothing special around this school to see anyway." Matsuri agreed, probably because she also became concerned that they possibly scared the girl.
Fujimaru and Shiyo started to go back to the school gate first, followed by Matsuri.
Ashido was also about to leave but then stopped.
He then looked again towards the black-haired girl for a moment, who still had this concerned pale expression on her face while still looking towards Ashido's eyes, before Ashido finally left the middle school for the better.

STREETS OF KARAKURA TOWN – HUMAN WORLD – MIDDAY
"you're surprisingly fast coming back ?" Shinji asked curiously.
"well, the reason is…. " Matsuri wanted to tell about the black-haired girl.
"It wasn't as interesting as they believed it at first." Ashido finished the explanation, signalizing the three not to talk any further.
"well, I don't blame you, after all, a 'middle school' is visited only by young children. A 'high school' on the other hand, is much more worth visiting, trust me." Shinji explained while making a sly smile, which somehow frightened Matsuri, "Maybe we should do that one day myself." Shinji added while suddenly grinning even more for some reason, which made Matsuri shiver for a good reason.
After all, the same expression Matsuri saw on Shinji is the same of those men from the 11th Division from back then, which made her very uncomfortable. 'Actually, it would make every woman uncomfortable' Matsuri concluded.
"aren't you a little bit too old for that? except you want to be a 'teacher', but that also sounds concerning, to be honest. " Naibu surprisingly commented.
"Don't be a poor sport" Shinji said towards Naibu with a slightly angry expression.
Then, out of nowhere, the three youngsters heard a strange noise, like some kind of bells ringing. What's more, those strange bells ringing came from Hirako, who for some reason put his left hand inside his pocket.
Fujimaru, Matsuri, and Shiyo watched curiously how Shinji took out a strange-looking, white-colored, device, which he then put on his left ear.
"Hello … " Shinji suddenly said, "oh hello Hiyori … yeah yeah I'm back … yeah yeah, oh before I forget, Oyabun has given an important task, which is why I brought 5 guests with me, " Shinji said to that strange device.
Naibu, who noticed the three youngsters confused, came closer
"Shinji right now uses a so-called 'cellphone', a communication device to stay in contact with your friends and family when you're far away which is frequently used today in the human world and by us." Naibu explained to the three while showing his own cellphone, which was dark blue instead of white. They and Ashido continued listening to Shinji's call.
"Who? …well besides 'Rurouni Kenshin' and 'Obi-Wan Kenobi', I have three more guests … well that's going to be a surprise, so please do me a favor and bring the whole gang to Kisuke, bye." were Hirako last word to that strange device.
"so, let's go meet the shop owner first, any objections ?" Hirako asked the group, luckily no one didn't seem to mind at all.
"Sorry to interrupt you, but I already need to somewhere else to be." Naibu suddenly announced.
"seriously? Are you sure you don't want to go along for a while? " Shinji asked, remembering what Naibu told him while Ashido and the three youngsters were looking around the Middle school.
" I usually would, but the request Raian-dono gave me has high priority, for that, I have to leave you for now" Naibu answered to Shinji's claim, "maybe we can make a sightseeing tour later for the three if my mission doesn't take too much time." Naibu said before separating from the group.
"then we should go as well." Shinji said while grinning.
Much to Shiyo's protest, who wanted to enjoy the sight of the City they were in right now, the group were now 'air-walking' rather fast since that way, they would arrive much sooner to their destination.
"we're here." Shinji proclaimed before everyone stopped their walk.
Everyone then looked down, wondering where there supposed to be.
After the group jumped down the surface. Fujimaru, like the two girls, noticed a traditional looking house with largely written Kanji words with the inscription 'Urahara Shoten', what's more, they saw two children, one red-haired boy and a black-haired girl, each with a broon, probably sweeping the nearby space, at least for the girl, since the boy seemed to play around with his broom.
URAHARA SHOP – KARAKURA TOWN – 13:00
"Urahara Shop ?, that name sounds somehow familiar " Shiyo wondered what this shop place is.
The two kids then looked towards the just arrived group of people.
It was Shinji who decided to come closer to the two kids.
"Hello there, Jinta and Ururu, is the king in the castle?" Shinji asked with his usual smile, which Jinta and Ururu thought of his smile as creepy.
"yes, but he said that he doesn't want to be disturbed right now, since both are testing some Kido-stuff." the little red-haired boy named Jinta, answered proudly to Shinji.
"really, but we need Kisuke right now." Shinji added, still with a smile.
"didn't you listen, 'creepy face', the boss doesn't want to be disturbed right now." Jinta answered this time, which made Shinji slightly mad because of Jinta's cocky behavior.
It was at this moment, Jinta and Ururu saw how another familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of them, which turned out to be Ashido.
"trust me we wouldn't disturb you, but right now we have some kind of emergency, so please bring Urahara-san up here." Ashido said while turning his head towards the other three unknown teenagers, whom Jina also recognized as Shinigamis, except the brown-haired girl with the yellow kimono.
"we will be back in a minute, you can come inside the entrance and wait here" Ururu proclaimed before he and Ururu went back inside the building.
After Jinta and Ururu disappeared, Shinji turned towards the three, moving his left hand, signalizing to come closer to them.
After they entered the Shop, except for the dozens of shelves with various strange products and a green tatami-floor before two shoji-doors beyond those shelves, they could barely see anything, since it was surprisingly dark inside the shop.
Shiyo meanwhile decided to look around the shelves to see what kind of products are sold here. While looking around, she noticed that many products for sale looked similar to those she once purchased with her mother, Fujimaru and Matsuri on the market in the soul society.
Suddenly, they noticed how one of the Tatami-mats opened, revealing a man with a hat, hiding his face and hair, a green Shihakusho without an undershirt and getas on his feet. He also carried a stick.
"I hope for you that this isn't some kind of prank, Jinta" the group heard a familiar voice, even for Shiyo and the twins, this voice sounded very familiar.
"please please stop it, they said it's an emergency" they heard Jinta crying as if he's been urged.
"Well well well, if it isn't Shinji and Ashido, what brings you two here ? " the man with the hat and stick asked them both.
Behind the blond man with the hat, Shiyo and the twins couldn't believe their eyes who was now staying in front of them. There stood a tall, lightly tan-skinned man with glasses and a handlebar mustache. While his clothes seemed different, the three recognized him immediately.
"T-Tessai-sensei? … " Shiyo suddenly called, which made the tall person look towards the girl which called him. As he looked towards the girl's direction, he couldn't believe it eighter, proven by his shocking expression.
"Shiyo-dono? … " he first said her name, before looking towards the twins, "Fujimaru-dono ?, Matsuri-dono ? is that really you." the tall man wondered himself in disbelief.
He hardly had time to start wondering, the tall man named Tessai realized that Shiyo came flying towards him, embracing him.
"It's really you, Tessai-san." Shiyo shouted out with her voice while slowly starting to cry out of relief. "it's really you …. " she said, her crying now visible by Tessai and the others, like Shinji who slightly smiled that there is at least one person still alive whom Shiyo knows better since Shinji himself admitted that from all family members of his former taicho, Shiyo was the one Shinji interacted the least with.
Ashido also rarely interacted with Shiyo eighter, which made him also now slightly smiling seeing how Shiyo, as well as the twins now too, embraced Tessai.
LATER - 13:15
After Shiyo, as well as Matsuri and Fujimaru, stopped crying, Tessai introduced them to the two children named Jinta Hanakari and Ururu Tsumugiya, and the blond man with the hat, whose name is Kisuke Urahara, the owner of the Urahara shop and also the previous Captain of the 12th Division after Kirio Hikifune has been promoted to the Royal Guard, which was a mind-blowing fact for the three youngsters.
Tessai also introduced Urahara to the three youngsters, referring them as members of the Suzunami Clan, which name rang a bell to Urahara since he remembered that besides Suzunami Seigen, who was the 5th Division Captain before Shinji, Konoka Suzunami has been the Captain of the Kido-Corps before Tessai.
Furthermore, Tessai explained that Shiyo was even his pupil while serving under Konoka-dono, teaching Shiyo in the art of Kido and Hakuda and adding her unusual talent for it.
Tessai then decided to make fresh tea for their 'honored guests', as he told to Jinta and Ururu while they had to help him as well, to which Jinta somehow protested since Tessai wanted the Tea to be especially good today. The 'honored guests', after putting down their shoes and gave them their Zanpakutos as Ashido ordered them, were sitting on the tatami-floor at the entrance since they wanted to talk with Tessai anyway.
Before they both gave Urahara the scrolls Seireitou ordered them to give to him, Ashido explained to Urahara about how he found Shiyo and the twins inside the Menos Forest.
After Urahara has read one of the scrolls, which turned out to be some Kido-scroll that can only be read by the receiver, he looked towards his adult looking guests.
"Am I right to guess that you didn't tell them anything ?" Urahara asked quietly with a concerned expression, not wanting for the three youngsters to be heard, who were talking with Tessai, not noticing them.
"pah isn't that obvious, they've just woken up, of course, we didn't tell them, and it's still hasn't been confirmed." Shinji proclaimed, also quietly, with an expression of concern on himself.
"but the information on that disc of ours didn't seem fake either." Ashido added.
"Anyway, there something else we've come for as well." Shinji said.
"what is it about? " Urahara asked before Ashido started explaining their situation.
MEANWHILE – KARAKURA HOSPITAL – KARAKURA TOWN - 13:00
After Naibu temporarily parted ways with his group, he went to the Karakura Hospital.
Of course, Naibu is aware that compare to Ashido and the three youngsters, he can be seen by all people, so he even had to be extra careful while sky-hovering.
When he saw the Karakura Hospital, Naibu activated his Reiraku, the visualization of Reiryoku as ribbons.
It took only a few seconds until he found the right ribbon.
After Naibu deactivated his Reiraku, he went for the roof of the hospital's main building, where the ribbon is leading him.
Lucky for him, he saw the person he's been seeking: a white-haired, middle-aged man with a blue collared shirt, a tie with draining of many small crosses, and wearing glasses, who stood on the rooftop, leaning his arms on the metal rod while smoking.
"Seems I'm lucky that I don't have to look around for you, Ishida-san." Naibu announced, which made the white-haired man turn around.
After exhaling some smoke, the white-haired man, his full name Ryuken Ishida, now looked towards Naibu.
" If you had to do that with that outfit, I would feel indeed embarrassed, facing you in front of my employees like that, don't get me wrong, that attire looks quite qualitative, " Ryuken commented while briefly looking at Naibu's cyan-colored 'Samue' attire, before looking towards the cylinder-like stick "But even as my biggest 'Investor', Hiroshi-san and the other likes of you should dress properly at the present age, especially if it's about openly carrying weapons around a hospital, don't you agree ?"
"Trust me, I would've put fitting clothes on if it wasn't an emergency." Naibu said.
" an emergency? " Ryuken asked his visitor with slight curiosity.
Knowing Naibu already for a decade, this statement made Ryuken curious.
"does the last name 'Kurosaki' mean anything to you? " Naibu asked.
Naibu saw how Ryuken pressed his own eyes as if Naibu himself stroke a chord.
"why do you ask? " Ryuken wondered.
Naibu remained silent at first, thinking how to explain this situation properly without revealing too much, then he started.
"It has been brought to our attention that a new substitute Shinigami has appeared. His full name is Ichigo Kurosaki." Naibu started explaining,
"the reason for that is simple: not only he has allegedly absorbed 100% of the Shinigami's power whoever gave it to him, but also there's a Soul in Heisekai who claimes to be erased by his Zanpakuto, which should be impossible since souls can only enter Heisekai when they've been erased by a Visored's blade as Hollows. And as if that isn't enough … "
Now, Ryuken put out his portable Ashtray, opening it to turn off his Cigarette and put it inside, before he could focus more on Naibu's explanation.

" … his last name is identical to one of the previous Echt-Quincy clans. And we are also aware, that the last known official Echt-Quincy member of this particular clan has been adopted by nonother than the Ishidas." was Naibu's final sentence to his explanation.
Ryuken, understanding what Naibu is driving at, also remained silent at first, before starting his own explanation.
" 'a very small percentage of all Humans around the world can develop a high amount of Reiryoku. These kinds of Humans are given the term like 'High-spec Humans' or 'Mediums', as called in folklore. What's more, it's estimated that half of these 'Medium' humans are descendants of Quincies, who couldn't, or didn't want to, keep the practice of 'true-bleeding' anymore, that's why some of them have the last names of long-obsolete Echt-Quincy clans. It's very likely that this Ichigo Kurosaki is such an example' … "
Ryuken became silent for a while, breathing with his nose before continuing.
" … that was my foolish son's face-saver after the mess he has caused during his 'challenge' with this Ichigo boy around two weeks ago." Ryuken explained.
Now, Naibu pressed his eyes as well, since he didn't expect Ryuken to mention Ichigo, let alone for his own son to be involved as well, since he remembered from Soken Ishida's words that it runs in their family that father and son don't get along. That applied for Soken and Ryuken and now seemed to apply to Ryuken and his own son as well.
" I remember Soken mentioning his grandson, Uryu is his name ?" Naibu asked.
"yes … " Ryuken answered.
Then Ryuken explained further to Naibu, that his Quincy son challenged the substitute Shinigami Ichigo Kurosaki to some kind of 'stupid challenge', as Ryuken called it, where they have to kill as many Hollows as possible.
For that, Uryu used a 'Hollow Bait' to attract said hollows. The problem however was that both, his son and Ichigo, presumably didn't consider the side-effects of their 'stupid challenge', like that too many hollows, appeared around Karakura town, even Ryuken himself had to go out during work and kill a few hollows himself before any of them could damage the Karakura Hospital.
"now that you mention it, Kori-dono told me that our sensors showed unusual high hollow activities here around two weeks ago, luckily there was no serious civilian damage, at least from our source." Naibu remembered his superior's message.
"Anyway, back to your question about the Kurosaki boy … " Ryuken started, making Naibu now more curious.
" … he's, in fact, the son of Masaki Kurosaki, the last official Echt-Quincy of her clan who has been adopted by my mother. Because of my families' practice of 'true breeding', I was supposed to marry her, but she declined it, marrying someone else." Ryuken explained carefully.
Now, this statement surprised even Naibu, seen by his eyes slightly open wide again.
"so this would make Ichigo Kurosaki technically a Gemischt Quincy, like your own son. Now that I think of it, is her husband aware of her? " Naibu wondered.
" with that family, it's more complicated, which is why I'll spare a detailed explanation" Ryuken stated, " however, what I can tell you is, that after some incident 20 years ago, Masaki lost her Quincy-purity, which is also the reason she fell victim to '6 years ago', while her children somehow survived. " Ryuken explained while turning his head away, to which Naibu immediately realized Ryuken is referring to the strange, global incident where most of the Gemischt-Quincy suddenly died out of nowhere, his own wife included. Strangely enough, his own son survived this event, to which both, Ryuken and Naibu believed it is because Uryu is 'three quarters'-Quincy if there's no better explanation. Of course both, Ryuken and Naibu know about the background of this event and who's to blame.
If that's the case, then how could Ichigo Kurosaki survive, and what meant Ryuken about Masaki by 'losing her Quincy-purity'. The more Naibu learns from Ryuken, the more confusing the Kurosaki Family becomes for him.
"as for her husband, he is aware of the 'other reality' and the Quincies, but avoids for his children, his daughters, in particular, to get involved into these matters, prefers for them to work at the 'Kurosaki Clinic' as their Clinic is called." Ryuken explained, "Even though I disagree with not enlightening them, Masaki supported this decision as well, so I have to respect that, which is why I never told Uryu and why I won't go any further now." Ryuken explained stoically.
"so not only he has two more sisters, who are also potentially Gemischt Quincies like him, but none of them knows about the truth ?" Naibu asked if he has heard him right, that Ichigo Kurosaki has two more sisters, also potential Gemischt-Quincies. But saw that Ryuken remained hesitant. Still, Naibu needed to lure out more information from Ryuken.
"You know, I'm also sometimes wondering how things would have turned different if his father would've enlightened them all." Ryuken commented, signalizing for Naibu that he really won't give more information.

"besides the Kurosaki family in particular, by whom did Ichigo Kurosaki received his temporary Shinigami-powers. We've been told the Shinigami is a short young looking black haired women. Did your son, by chance, told you something along these lines? " Naibu now asked curiously.
"actually, Uryu did admit something about a female Shinigami who used an artificial body because of her power loss to the Kurosaki boy, and if I remember correctly, her name is … "
MEANWHILE – URAHARA-SHOP – KARAKURA TOWN – 13:30
" … Rukia Kuchiki." was Urahara's last words after his explanation about a boy named Ichigo Kurosaki, a young high-school student, who necessity-driven became a Shinigami and the female Shinigami who transformed him in the first place.
While Urahara knew that the two Visoreds are aware of Ichigo Kurosaki, he still explained everything from the beginning for the three youngsters, like what a substitute Shinigami is, for instance.
"so it was one of the Kuchiki's who transformed him? " Fujimaru said with a curious expression. " still, it bothers me to hear that the soul society is letting Humans do our donkey jobs." he added.
But despite Urahara's explanation, this didn't answer the question to Shinji and Ashido how Sora could be sent to Heisekai. So they need to lure out more information from Urahara, of whom they guessed really might try to avoid explaining more.
"so what happened then? I mean I heard by now that it's a crime for a Shinigami to donor his own powers, right? " Ashido asked while having a presentiment about what Urahara will tell them now.
Urahara began to explain how Ichigo Kurosaki defeated several Hollows and how Rukia Kuchiki aided him. He also then begun to explain about two high-spec Humans named Orihime Inoue and Sado Yasutora and a Quincy named Uryu Ishida, who have become allies of Ichigo in his fight against the hollows.
For the two Visoreds, this explains why Naibu has separated from them since both, Shinji and Ashido know, that Naibu and the likes of him have ties to the Quincies.
While Urahara told that story, Ashido suddenly turned his head behind, looking at the entrance. Except that the door is still open, he has a slight feeling that they've been watched somehow. But now looking closer, he dismissed this feeling, since he couldn't feel anything, so he turned his head back to the group.
The way how Urahara told them the story, it seemed for Shinji as if Ichigo and his allies were like a group of superheroes, considering that all of them had a different kind of abilities, at any rate, Urahara made a happy atmosphere.
"they seem to be an interesting bunch, mind calling them over here to your shop, I and Ashido have many questions we need to ask them." Shinji said with a rather happy expression since it seemed that it won't be as hard to come into contact with them with the Guide of Urahara.
"well, about that … "
The atmosphere drastically changed when Urahara said that the soul society found out about Rukia Kuchiki's crime. Byakuya Kuchiki, her brother and the current Captain of the 6th Division, and his Lieutenant, Renji Abarai, immediately went here into the human world to take Rukia captive for her crime of creating a substitute Shinigami.
Ichigo Kurosaki and even Uryu Ishida tried to stop them, but of course, none of them were powerful enough to face a Lieutenant, let alone a Captain.
Fujimaru's, Matsuri's, and Shiyo's opinion about Ichigo also changed drastically. even though they slightly understand that it was a complicated situation for sure, he still dared to attack a Gotei 13's Captain.
Ichigo, who felt responsible for what happened with Rukia, decided then to train with Urahara-san for 10 Days in order to become stronger. His remaining allies and friends Uryu, Sado, and Orihime decided to do the same in the meantime before they all go to the soul society.
"And four days ago, I've sent them four to the soul society so that they can save her."
