Ash's Pokemon Journey

Summary: This story is about how I think that ash's journey should have gone through, Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. Smart, a psychic and an Aura user. I do not own pokemon.

Note: I am not doing the Kalos Region. So fairy pokemon and Mega Evolutions don't exist.

Chapter 134

The Great Marsh,

Ash's Gym battle 4

And Tomo's Gym battle 4

Today the gang had arrived at Pastoria City at last. Pastoria City was one of those places where humans and nature coexisted with each other. But before the gang headed for the gym, there was something Tomo wanted to do first. In Pastoria City where was an area called the Great Marsh, which was a bit like a Safari Zone for catching pokemon. Tomo had read in a book that you could catch Carnivine in the Great Marsh and of course he wanted to catch one for himself. The gang went up to the entrance and Tomo was given 30 safari balls so he could catch pokemon in the Great Marsh. "I'm all set" said Tomo. "Good luck Tomo" said Ash. He and the others weren't joining in and decided to wait for Tomo at the entrance. Tomo and Growlithe excitedly entered the Great Marsh.

The Great Marsh was a complete wetland with lots of big puddles and the grounds were thick with mud. Luckily there were a lot of wooden footpaths everywhere so no one had to walk in the mud that much. Tomo couldn't wait to see what pokemon the Great Marsh had.

Tomo wasn't the only one who was visiting the Great Marsh. Team Rocket had turned up. "Ugh this mud is gross" complained Meowth. "I can't believe we've come to this swamp" said Jessie, who didn't like the mud either. "Ah this place brings back memories; this is where I caught my Carnivine," said James "Carnivine was stuck and weak in the mud and I got it out of there. Then of course Carnivine stayed with me". Jessie and Meowth weren't interested that much. "So what pokemon are here for us to send to the boss?" asked Meowth. "Well apart from Carnivine," said James "the best ones to catch here are Toxicroak and Drapion". "Hey Toxicroak is what Team Galactic has and Drapion is what that Hunter J has" said Meowth. "That still makes them perfect for Team Rocket though" said James. "I agree," said Jessie "so how many of each shall we catch?" "We have 30 safari balls each Jessie," said James "and the best bet will be catching 20 of the pokemon each. So I'll use my first 20 balls to catch 20 Carnivine and the last ten to catch 10 Drapion. And you Jessie use your 20 balls to catch Toxicroak and use your last 10 to catch another 10 Drapion". Jessie liked the idea and the set off to look for the pokemon they wanted.

Meanwhile Tomo and Growlithe had just come upon a pokemon. It was a Staravia. "Cool I can get my own Staravia" said Tomo. He threw a safari ball at it and caught it with success. "Having a Staraptor would be really helpful to me when I become a pokemon ranger" smiled Tomo. Growlithe agreed. "Come on Growlithe; let's go find some more pokemon". Tomo and Growlithe walked further on in the Great Marsh, when suddenly they saw a small purple scorpion like pokemon. "Hey what's that?" said Tomo.

He took out his pokedex: Skorupi, the scorpion pokemon. The pre-evolved form of Drapion. It burrows under the sand to lie in wait for prey. Its tail claws can inject its prey with a savage poison.

"So it evolves to Drapion huh?" Tomo remembered J's Drapion. He threw a safari ball at Skorupi and caught it. "Well we've caught ourselves a cool pokemon Growlithe, now let's go find ourselves a Carnivine". The search didn't take long and Tomo finally caught a Carnivine for himself. "Okay Growlithe," he said "since I've caught my own Carnivine as well as two other cool pokemon, let's go".

But before Tomo and Growlithe could head back to the entrance, Growlithe noticed something purple in the mud. He went over to it and showed it to Tomo. Tomo picked up the purple thing. "Hey this looks like one of those plate things Ash has been collecting," Tomo said to Growlithe "we better take this to him at once". Growlithe agreed. Then they ran off for the entrance at once.

By now Team Rocket had made it back to the entrance and sorted out their 20 Drapions, 20 Toxicroaks and 20 Carnivines. Just then the receptionist spoke to Jessie and James. "Do excuse me," he said "but can I ask you something please?" "What is it?" asked James. The receptionist presented a pokeball. "In here is a Tangela," he said "somebody caught it the other day but he didn't want it. So I was wondering if any of you wanted it, save me having to release it back to the Great Marsh". "I'll take it," said James "I always wanted a Tangela". So James had Tangela as a new pokemon for himself.

Meanwhile Tomo made it back to the entrance and told the others of his captures of Staravia, Carnivine and Skorupi. "Wow you caught some good pokemon for yourself Tomo" said Brock. Tomo was happy with himself. "Oh Ash I also got something else" said Tomo. He revealed the purple plate to him. "Another one?" said Ash. "How many of these plate things are there?" said Dawn "I mean this makes seven plates that Ash has now". "I don't know Dawn, but I have a feeling there is going to be more of these" said Ash. This mystery was getting strange for the gang.

By now Team Rocket were waiting for Delibird from headquarters to turn up. "Hey James are you really not sending Tangela to the boss?" asked Meowth. "The Team Rocket Headquarters have already got lots of Tangelas," said James "so I am keeping this one". "Fine with me" said Meowth. Just then Delibird turned up and Jessie and James gave their pokeballs to it. "Don't lose these," warned Jessie "we worked hard to get them for headquarters". Delibird left for headquarters at once.

So not only did Tomo catch three new pokemon for themselves, Team Rocket caught pokemon for Giovanni.

The next day it was time for Ash and Tomo to face the Pastoria Gym. "Well Tomo it's time we earned our fourth gum badge at last" said Ash. "Well it has been a while since we battled Maylene" said Tomo. Ash agreed. The Pastoria gym was a big grey dome shaped building. Just before the gang were about to reach the door, a big man wearing a white cape and a sort of blue mask on his face. "Well, well, well," said the man "are you kids here to challenge the gym?" "Yes, my brother and I am sir" said Ash. The man started to laugh. "That's great!" he shouted "for I am Crasher Wake the gym leader! But you can call me Wake!" Dawn was scared by him and asked the boys if they knew any gym leaders like him. "There is a gym leader in Johto called Chuck who's like that" answered Ash. It was true because Chuck was big and liked to laugh very loudly.

Wake led the gang to the gym battle field. As the gym used water type pokemon, the battlefield was a big pool with a lot of platforms. Just like the Cerulean and Sootopolis gym. Ash and Wake took their places on the battle field, and the others sat on seats at the side of the pool. "Since Wake reminds me of Chuck, I bet he is going to go all out rough with his pokemon" said Tomo. "I think so too" said Brock. Wake took off his white cloak and revealed that he was very muscular. 'He definitely reminds me of Chuck' Ash, Brock and Tomo thought together. Wake's gym referee explained the gym challenge was a three on three pokemon battle.

Wake sent out a Gyarados to battle first and Ash sent out Luxio. "Charge up Luxio" said Ash. Luxio charged up his electrical attacks. Wake knew what the move charge does. "Alright Gyarados attack with dragon rage" he said. Gyarados fired a dragon rage attack, but Luxio jumped into the pool to dodge it. "Your Luxio can swim?" asked Wake. "Yep; it took swimming lessons from my Prinplup" said Ash. Truth is as Luxio, Prinplup and Roselia always spent time together, swimming was one of the things they did together. Ash commanded to use thunderbolt and Luxio attacked Gyarados with thunderbolt while still in the water. "It is so handy that water conducts electricity" said Tomo, who remembers seeing this stunt before. "So true" agreed Brock. Gyarados got a good shocking, but it wasn't defeated yet. "Gyarados let's use hydro pump" said Wake. Gyarados dived under water and fired a hydro pump attack. Luxio got hit by the attack and was thrown out of the water and onto a platform. "Luxio you okay?" asked Ash. The attack took a lot out of Luxio be he was still alright to battle. "Alright Luxio use thunder". Luxio fired a thunder attack and Gyarados was hit by the attack. Gyarados couldn't take anymore after that strong electric attack and fainted. Ash won the first round.

Wake returned Gyarados. "Your Luxio is something else Ash" he said. "Wait till you see my other pokemon" said Ash. Wake sent out a Quagsire next. As Quagsire was part ground type, Ash returned Luxio and sent out Roselia. "Good choice to use a grass type" said Dawn. "Yes but would Quagsire use an ice type move?" said Brock "remember what we told you before Dawn water type pokemon can learn ice type moves". "Oh you're right" said Dawn.

Ash started first by telling Roselia to use energy ball, but Quagsire dodged it and jumped into the pool. "Roselia fire poison sting into the water" said Ash. Roselia jumped and fired multiple poison sting attacks at the water. "What's this about?" asked Dawn. Roselia was using poison sting to lure Quagsire out because it can't do much while Quagsire is under the water. "Ice beam Quagsire" said Wake. Quagsire came out of the water and fired an ice beam attack at Roselia. Roselia got hit by the attack, but she wasn't defeated yet. "It's obvious;" said Brock "Wake had his Quagsire learn ice beam to use against grass type pokemon". Ash ordered Roselia to use solar beam. While Roselia stored her energy, Quagsire fired another ice beam attack. But Roselia fired her solar beam attack just in time and the beam hit Quagsire. Quagsire fainted from the grass type move, giving Ash a second win.

"With this win Ash still has three pokemon while Wake only has one left" said Dawn. "Yes, but it will depend on how strong Wake's last pokemon will be" said Brock.

Wake's last pokemon was a Floatzel. Roselia was still okay to battle, so Ash kept her out. "Roselia use magical leaf" he said. Roselia fired leaves at Floatzel, but Floatzel jumped into the pool to dodge the leaves. Then Floatzel came out of the water again and used ice fang on Roselia. Roselia fainted from the ice type move, giving Wake the win.

"Awesome;" said Tomo "Wake's Floatzel must be very strong if it can take Roselia out like that". "It seems to me that Floatzel is Wake's prime pokemon" said Brock. "You better be careful yourself when you face Wake Tomo" said Dawn. Ash returned Roselia and sent out Zangoose. Zangoose and Floatzel growled at each other; as they were both fierce type pokemon, Zangoose and Floatzel were seeing each other as rivals. "I wouldn't like to stand in between those two pokemon" said Dawn, looking a bit scared.

Wake ordered Floatzel to use bulk up and Ash ordered Zangoose to use sword dance. "Now Floatzel water gun" said Wake. "Dodge it and use crush claw" said Ash. Zangoose dodged Floatzel's water gun attack and struck Floatzel with crush claw. Floatzel attacked with razor wind next and Zangoose attacked with swift. "Okay now I really don't want to get in between Zangoose and Floatzel" said Dawn. Brock and Tomo didn't want to either. Floatzel jumped into the pool and Zangoose did the same. "Now Floatzel whirlpool" said Wake. Floatzel created a whirlpool in the water and Zangoose got trapped in it. "Hang in there Zangoose and use thunderbolt!" shouted Ash. Zangoose managed to pull himself together and released a thunderbolt in the water. Floatzel got shocked by it. Wake was surprised by that. "Alright Floatzel use aqua jet" he said. Floatzel charged straight at Zangoose with aqua jet. "Fight back with crush claw" said Ash. Zangoose struck Floatzel back with crush claw. "Razor wind Floatzel" said Wake. "Thunderbolt Floatzel" said Ash. Zangoose and Floatzel fired their attacks at each other and the final result… Floatzel fainted from the thunderbolt bolt attack, making Ash the winner of the gym battle.

Wake returned Floatzel and he walked to a side of the pool and Ash did the same. "I got to say it Ash you and your pokemon did a masterful job, especially with how you used their moves" said Wake. Ash was happy with himself and his pokemon. Wake presented Ash a blue and grey circular badge which looked like a picture of a mountain and lake. This badge was called the Fen Badge. Ash happily accepted the badge and Tomo became excited to earn his.

A few hours after Wake healed his Gyarados, Quagsire and Floatzel, it was time for Tomo to face Wake. Wake and Tomo took their places on the battlefield while Ash sat on the sides with Brock and Dawn. "I can't wait to see how Tomo battles against Wake" said Dawn. "He'll be alright" said Ash. The rules for the battlefield were the same like Ash's battle.

Wake sent out his Gyarados to battle first and Tomo sent out a Raichu. "Did Tomo's Pikachu evolve?" asked Dawn. "Yes;" answered Ash "Tomo's Pikachu wanted to evolve so Tomo used a thunderstone to evolve him". Wake started the battle by telling Gyarados to use hydro pump, but Raichu used agility to dodge it and jumped from platform to platform. "Okay Raichu thunderbolt" said Tomo. Raichu fired a thunderbolt attack and Gyarados was hit by it. Of course Gyarados wasn't defeated yet. "Alright Gyarados use bite" said Wake. Gyarados dived under water to attack Raichu by surprise. "Raichu stand your ground" said Tomo. Raichu stood still on the platform, waiting for Gyarados to appear. Suddenly Gyarados burst out of the water and got ready to attack Raichu. "Quick Raichu thunderbolt" said Tomo. Raichu managed to attack Gyarados with thunderbolt before Gyarados could attack him. Then Raichu whacked Gyarados hard with iron tail and Gyarados fainted.

"Wow Tomo's Raichu is good" said Dawn. "Tomo caught Raichu as Pikachu in Kanto and it learnt a lot from my Pikachu" said Ash. Pikachu nodded with pride. Wake returned his Gyarados, impressed with Tomo's battling skill. Then he called out his Quagsire. Tomo returned his Raichu and called out Octillery. "Why is Tomo using Octillery instead of Sunflora?" asked Dawn. "As Quagsire is a water type it won't do much damage against Octillery as it's a water type too" said Brock. "Yes and ice beam won't do much damage to Octillery either" said Ash.

Tomo started off by telling Octillery to use bullet seed, but Quagsire jumped into the pool to escape. Octillery jumped into the pool too to chase after Quagsire. "Octillery's a good swimmer, but Quagsire is faster" said Brock. Tomo ordered Octillery to attack with gunk shot, but Quagsire dodged before the poison attack could hit it. "Quagsire use mud bomb" said Wake. "Counter that with ice beam" said Tomo. Octillery's ice beam attack shot through Quagsire's mud bomb attack and then it hit Quagsire. "Now bullet seed". Octillery fired bullet seed and Quagsire was hit by it. Quagsire was weakened but it wasn't defeated yet. "Quagsire ice beam" said Wake. "Bullet seed again Octillery" said Tomo. Octillery dodged the ice beam attack and hit Quagsire again with bullet seed. Quagsire couldn't take anymore after being hit with bullet seed again and fainted.

"Tomo only needs to beat Floatzel now" said Dawn. "Yes but Floatzel is a very strong one; even I had a bit of a tough challenge with it" said Ash. "Not to mention Tomo's Raichu and Octillery are exhausted from their battles. Tomo recalled Octillery and called out Sunflora. Wake returned Quagsire and sent out Floatzel. "I hope Sunflora can do this;" said Dawn, a bit worried, "as Floatzel knows ice fang it will be hard for Sunflora". "Yes but don't count Sunflora out yet" said Brock.

Sunflora started the battle first with bullet seed, but Floatzel jumped into the pool to dodge. "Use ice fang Floatzel" said Wake. Floatzel moved in with ice fang, but Sunflora used protect to protect herself from the attack. "Leech seed Sunflora" said Tomo. Sunflora released a leech seed attack and Floatzel became wrapped up by the vines. "Since Floatzel will get its energy zapped by the leech seed, Sunflora can win this" said Dawn. "Don't be so sure yet Dawn because Floatzel doesn't feel defeated yet" said Ash. Ash was right because Floatzel was not showing any weak signs yet. "Good Floatzel, now use razor wind" said Wake. Floatzel released a razor wind attack and Sunflora got hit by it. "Don't give up Sunflora, use petal dance" said Tomo. Sunflora released a petal dance attack and it worked on Floatzel good. It was then Floatzel was starting to feel weak by both the petal dance attack and the leech seed. Wake told his Floatzel not to give up and use ice fang. But Sunflora dodged the attack and attacked Floatzel with razor leaf. Floatzel couldn't take anymore after the attack and fainted.

So Tomo was the winner of the gym battle and he hugged Sunflora with happiness. Wake returned Floatzel and presented Tomo his Fern Badge. "You two boys gave me a great fight" Wake said to both Ash and Tomo. "Tough challenges are what I like the best" said Ash. "Me too" smiled Tomo. "Well then I wish you luck at the Sinnoh League" said Wake.

After earning gym badge number four, the gang left Pastoria City for their next destination.

Sorry for the wait; as I said in the other chapter it's hard to try and do two chapters at once. I don't like the Croagunk festival episode very much, which is why I had a part with the great marsh instead. I'm surprised the anime never did a scene about team rocket trying to get pokemon in the great marsh.
