Blue

Blue felt horrible for Gray. Seeing the lost kids like that… Sometimes, he really wished that he could pound fear into the ground, make it run away so no-one had to be terrified like that. Right now, all he could do was get rid of those bugs and give the spirit back its light. So, that was what he was now trying to do as fast as possible.

The basement consisted of a long hallway with a square room at the end. Strangely, there was a huge odd-looking owl statue set into the wall. What it was for, Blue didn't know. Not that he really cared at the moment. The rabbit rushed ahead of the others, searching out the bugs. Even though he was much smaller, he could move a lot faster now than he could as a normal hylian. Finding the insects, he dispatched two of them while Gray got the third. It was kind of disturbing, knowing that there had been three electrical bugs in the basement of the very house everyone was hiding out in.

"How do we get out?" Vio asked, "We can't go through the window we used before. It's too high."

"Let's check out the back room," Green suggested. They all agreed and went to the back of the cellar.

"Well, how about that?" Midna pointed to a hole in the ceiling, which must have been how the bugs got in, "Looks like you can climb the scaffolding…" she directed. Thankfully, the wooden poles and shelves were a lot easier to climb than the tree from before, and everyone got out without too much of a struggle.

Where they ended up happened to be a graveyard.

"Where to next, Midna?" Red asked. Midna looked at the map.

"There's two bugs here," she replied.

"I don't see them anywhere," Blue noted, glancing around.

"There! They've buried themselves! You can see their shadows on the ground," Vio pointed out. Blue peered at the ground. The purple bunny was right. The shadows crept around under the earth, leaving little trails of upturned dirt in their wake.

"Gotcha!" Gray leapt upon one of the dirt mounds, pawing furiously until the creature was revealed. It buzzed angrily and raced around, zapping Red on the toes before being finished off by Green.

"Ow!" Red complained, his fur standing on end from the zap.

"Get the other one!" Green said, racing to dig the creature up while Midna collected the floating tear.

Once the second one had been collected, Midna directed them to the nearest group of bugs, which was inside a house across the path from the one the village kids were sheltering in. A little sign out front read in bold letters; General Store. Dealing in everything from housewares to gently used items!

"Are you sure they're inside the shop?" Blue asked. What was with the bugs all hiding indoors this time? It was really inconvenient.

"That's what the map shows! We'll have to find some way inside! Eee hee!" Midna answered, showing the map to everyone and poking it where the two glowing dots were.

Getting inside was not as hard as Blue thought it would be. It turned out that there was a sizeable hole in the side of the building that looked as if it had been smashed through from the outside. From what, he didn't really want to know.

After getting the bug things from there, the map directed them to the building next door, which was only accessible to get into by climbing up a ramp labeled 'DEAD END' and a dangerous jump, also labeled with a warning, courtesy of the Elde Inn, which also apparently was not responsible for accidents happening on and around the gap between the roof and the dirt path.

Blue was expecting the inn to be relatively deserted on the inside except for the bugs, but he was wrong. There were a few of the twili-forms of what resembled bokoblins wandering around a mess of upturned tables and blankets tossed on the floor. Blue was more than happy to get rid of them (Though, reluctantly, he admitted he needed help, not being so used to his tiny current form).

After clearing that house, they were led to another on the other side of the street, where they broke in through a weak spot in the roof that Gray accidentally fell through. Eventually, they made their way to a large bomb shop.

"Barnes' Bomb Shop. Buy or sell. Occasional holidays," Green read aloud, peering at a large sign out front, "Hey… isn't Barnes the name of that guy in the house…?"

"Yes," Vio ansered. Blue plastered his ears back on his head. That guy, was a big fat coward who had terrorized the village kids and didn't know when to keep his mouth shut. He wanted to bring out his hammer and beat some sense into the guy, but while he was a rabbit, that couldn't happen. All the more reason to get this annoying task over and done with.

"How do we get inside here?" Red asked, peering around, "There's no way to get on the roof and no holes in the building."

"There's a mostly broken window right there," Vio pointed out, "I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we removed it the rest of the way for him."

Blue liked that idea.

One broken window later, and the five of them piled into the house. There was 'FLAMMABLE! Lanterns strictly prohibited!' notes posted all over the walls, and the smoky smell of bomb powder lingered over everything, making Blue want to cough from the amount of smell hitting his sensitive nose.

After taking care of the insect inside that building- thankfully, the electricity it gave off didn't make anything explode- Midna led them out of the shop through the highest doorway, making them come out higher on a ledge that Blue realized couldn't be reached except by going through the shop. There were more buildings up there, too. It must've been annoying for the people living there to go through the shop detour all the time. Especially with that extremely sunny shopkeeper.

"There's some!" Red shouted triumphantly, racing toward two glowing insects sitting outside of a building. The bugs noticed his advances, and one raced inside through a hole in the wall, the other going around the back of the shack.

"Green and I'll go get the one behind the house, you guys can go indoors," Vio said, following the second bug with Green trailing behind him. Blue scrambled inside the building, looking around for the tell-tale electric glow and buzzing.

"Hey! There's two in the furnace!" Red pointed out, staring at a broken pipe jutting out of the metal heater, "I can't get to them!"

Gray tried too, but failed as well.

"Hey, what if we light the wood inside on fire?" Blue suggested, dragging a stick out of the pile of timber inside and bringing it over to a dying torch that was lying on the floor.

"Good idea," Gray answered, lighting the stick and setting it back in the nest of wood. Immediately, the other sticks caught aflame, the wood being very dry.

"Hey guys? Be careful in there. The sign out here says that it's Barnes' highly explosive storage shed," Vio's voice came from outside. That was when the electric insects catapulted out of the furnace, their backs alight, slamming into every surface in their path as they bounced off of the walls.

"Huh? What did you do? Sorry, but as romantic as this is, I'm not going to stay here with you. I'm getting out!" Midna hopped off of Gray's back and was out of the building faster than Blue could react.

"Guys? Get out of there!" Vio yelled from outside.

"RUN!" Blue yelped, dashing for the exit. The group joined up outside, racing away as fast as possible until the building exploded with a resounding boom! Debris flew everywhere, one piece of shingle hitting Gray on the nose. When the ash and smoke cloud cleared enough away to see, all that remained of the shed was the foundations and the glowing tears of light left behind by the insects.

"That was a close one," Gray panted.

"Hmm… I don't suppose there's any nicer way to hunt these things, huh?" Midna shook her head, "Well, you had to sacrifice someone's shed to find the tears of light… but that's how the cookie crumbles, right?" she settled back down on Gray. Even though Barnes wasn't the best guy, Blue still felt a little bad for destroying his storage supplies.

After Midna retrieved the tears, Blue was happy to see that there was only one bug left to find.

"Looks like it's in that house way up there," Red said, peering at the lone house that sat at the highest point in town.

"Let's go. I can't wait to get this over with," Blue said.

"I agree," approved Gray. Once more, the house was easy to get into. Most of the buildings in Kakariko were dilapidated and full of holes, and this house was no exception. They entered through a sizeable hole in the wall and easily found the insect sitting in a corner. Gray got to it before he did, but the task was done all the same. They had all the tears.

"Let's go see that light spirit now," Gray suggested. Blue agreed wholeheartedly and they all raced back to the spring.

Zelda

As Zelda sat down on a comfy chair in her room, she strongly hoped that no rats would be summoned again. She, Valensuela, and Young Zelda were sitting in a large circle so they all could see what appeared and each other easily. Closing her eyes and biting her lip, a habit she did whenever she was nervous and was never able to break, she readied her fingers and plucked on the harp. There was the familiar sound of rushing wind, and there, in the middle of the circle, was a familiar-looking kid with blond hair, a green tunic, and a long green cap standing in a small red boat that fell with a dull clunk onto the floor.

"Link!" Zelda yelled in relief, tackling the green-clad hero in a hug before remembering she was a princess and was supposed to be dignified. She cleared her throat and stepped back a bit, flushing slightly in embarrassment.

Link stood there in shock, blinking repeatedly as he stared at her.

"…Um, who are you?" he asked at last, "How did I get here? How did you know my name? I was on my way Dragon Roost Island… and now I'm here, wherever here is."

Zelda sighed in disappointment. She now noticed the few small differences between this Link and the one she knew. For one thing, he was shorter, and looked younger. He didn't have the Four Sword either, the Master Sword instead, and his boots were shorter and tunic colors a bit lighter. Other than that, her Link and this one looked nearly identical, right down to the hair (1).

"…I-I'm sorry! I thought you were someone else! You see, in my time, there is this kid who looks almost exactly like you who drew a sword and split into four different versions of himself. I accidentally sent them back in time with this harp, and, well, we're trying to get them back."

"Whoa, wait. I'm in a different time? Can I get back?"

"Yes, you can get back," Young Zelda assured, "Hey… you're in a boat. Did a great flood happen at some point in your history?"

"Yeah. What does that have to do with anything? What are your names, anyway? And where am I?"

"Yes! Someone closer to my time! This is so cool!" Young Zelda cheered, "I'm Princess Zelda, and so's she, but I'm the one from a different time, so you can call me Young Zelda! That's Valensuela, and he's great at slaying rats! You're in Hyrule Castle, in that Zelda's bedroom in the past!" she explained enthusiastically.

"Slaying rats?" Valensuela asked indignantly.

"I'm talking to two Princess Zelda's, in the past, in Hyrule Castle?!" Link yelped, "Um… I don't even know what to say."

"Hey, do you want to stay and help us out? You can- Did that boat just move?!"

"Yes, I did," the boat answered, looking over to the princess.

"Who are you?" Valensuela asked.

"I am the King of Red Lions."

"How did you get a talking boat?" Zelda asked Link.

"Well, he found me when I kind of got tossed away from this fortress owned by this guy named Ganondorf, and we've been traveling together since," Link replied.

"Why are you a king of red lions? Are there any red lions? How many are there? Why are you king over them, if you're a boat?" Young Zelda asked the boat.

"Hey… I never asked either. I want to know too. How did you become alive, anyway? You're made out of wood." Link added.

"…Uh… I was just made that way." The King of Red lions answered, "We should be getting back to our quest. We have our own Hyrule to save."

"And my sister!" Link added.

"Are you sure you can't stay? No matter how long you're here, we can just send you back to the same point in time that you were before!" Young Zelda said.

"No, we must go. You have your own Links to save," the red boat answered.

"Alright. Well, it was nice meeting you," Zelda said, readying the harp and hitting the strings that would send them away. When the breeze died down, they were gone.

Just then, there was a loud knocking on the door. Zelda went to open it, revealing another Link look-alike with purple hair and a black tunic.

"Shadow Link?" She gasped, "I thought I'd never see you again!"

"Yeah… about that," Shadow replied, looking scared, "…I have a problem."

(1)- Yes, this is Windwaker Link. If you're wondering, he's at the point in his quest when he's just about to pick up Medli and her handy-dandy harp and take her to her respective dungeon. Thus, at that point in time, he would have the Master Sword, regular shield, and not have met Zelda yet outside the form of Tetra, thus, not recognizing the two in the room. Yes, I do believe I'm making Young Zelda less mature than she probably is in the game, but that's just how I think she should act, and let's face it- she's a lot more fun when she gets excited.
