Hello people, and welcome back to Highschool of the Dead: Resurrection. Well, the team's got a new player now that Shido's bitten the dust, just like a zombie would, now lets see what he can do...

Review Response: I was thinking that Shido's death came too soon myself, but hey, all that means is that he got his due after getting off for way too long in both the show, and the manga, at the hands of his own bodyguard no less. There's a reason I stressed the irony of that. And I paraphrased Morgan Freeman like that because some people would probably ask me to have Shido torn up by zombies. First off, wishing suffering on someone makes you no better than they are. Again: you want someone dead, get it over with, although for the record, I do NOT condone murder, nor should any civilized human being. Secondly...well, you'll see what happens with the body later.

As for Itachi's lines...I have no idea what you're talking about...

As for your closing line, I love your enthusiasm.

Kohta led Masato to their humvee, and then opened he trunk and unrolled the bag they kept their high-end weaponry in.

"Here they are." Kohta breathed out as Masato looked over what they had. He saw a few pistols, a pump action and semi-auto shotgun, of which he grabbed the former and started loading shells into it. He then pumped it and set it aside before noticing some M4 ammo clips and storing them in his bag, and even some grenades.

"I see you've been making out like bandits recently." Masato said as he looked a grenade over.

"Yeah, we picked up every weapon and rounds we could find. Also...would that happen to be a Colt M1911 you shot Shido with?" Kohta asked.

"Yes...it was. I usually save it for heavier work, but putting a bullet in the head of that worthless rat is completely worth it." Masato said.

"I cannot say I disagree with you; that man was a scumbag for as long as I've known him." Kohta said.

"His entire family is the same way..." Masato said before putting the grenade away.

"We also picked up all that 5.56 ammo in case we found an M4, or something like it...and as luck would have it, you've got one." Kohta said.

"I know; I've shot down hundreds of zombies with it." Masato said.

"Hundreds?!" Kohta asked seriously.

"Yes, and I was nearly out of ammo...until I met you." Masato said.

"Still...one person killing hundreds by himself...that's batshit insane." Kohta said.

"And true." Masato said before slipping his M4 over his back, taking the shotgun, going to the front door and looked outside.

"What's wrong?" Kohta asked.

"Zombies." Masato said.

"They heard the gunshot?" Kohta asked.

"Apparently, and they're starting to gather outside." Masato said, before looking at Shido's corpse and picking it up.

"What are you doing?" Kohta asked.

"He said he would be of use to me...now's his chance." Masato said seriously, before opening the door and walking outside with Shido's corpse dangling off his shoulder. Kohta then watched in amazement as Masato threw the corpse over the fence, into the zombie horde, knocking down several of them. He then pulled the pin on a grenade as the zombies tore into Shido's corpse...then threw the grenade after they gathered around it, and then it went off in mid-air at head-level, killing every zombies in the area.

Masato then came back inside, and casually walked past Kohta who was still staring at him slack-jawed. This man had absolutely zero respect for zombies, and it showed. Masato then went straight to the garage, and grabbed the pump-action shotgun.

"Uh, wouldn't you prefer the semi-auto-" Masato cuts Kohta off.

"No, the stock is too small, and the pumping mechanism is more reliable." He said simply.

"You're certainly not wrong with the second part, but why does the first part matter?" Kohta asked, and Masato gave him a chilling stare.

"Because I want to be able to crack their skulls with it." He said before getting started on loading the shotgun.

"O.k..." Kohta said as he watched Masato load the shotgun.

"There..." Masato breathed out.

"We...had an Ithaca M37 shotgun before, but swapped it for Takashi's Benneli." Kohta said.

"You should have kept it. The more weapons you have, the more options you have." Masato said as he inspected his shotgun.

"We'll...keep that in mind. Now that right there is the-" Masato cuts Kohta off.

"Remington 870, 12 Gauge pump action shotgun, holds six shells, and can blow a hole through a zombie's skull from ten meters away." He said.

"Right..." Kohta said.

"Do you have any slug rounds?" Masato asked.

"No...?" Kohta said.

"You should get some." Masato said.

"Hopefully that military base will have some." Kohta said.

"It should. It's recently-made, and I should know. I was stationed there for about a week...before things changed." Masato said.

"But...I thought there were no bases near here?" Kohta said.

"Not before this plague hit, but during the plague, the military stepped up it's efforts, and built bases all over Japan, within, or around hotspots, such as the one we're in right now, and the army itself swelled with recruits. People either wanted into the army to help fight back, or were simply conscripted." Masato said.

"What about you?" Kohta asked as Masato simply continued looking over his weapons.

"None of your concern." Masato said.

"O.k...what about the horde between here and the base?" Kohta asked.

"I'm going to exterminate it." Masato said, then Saeko walked in.

"I'm coming too." She said, and Masato looked her over, stopping with her gunto.

"How well can you use that blade?" Masato asked.

"About as well as Kohta here can use a gun." Saeko said.

"Which is?" Masato asked.

"Good enough to mow down zombies like they were weeds." Kohta said.

"In that case, open that door." Masato said, and Kohta went to hit the button that opened the garage door as Saeko drew her sword, and Masato cocked his shotgun.

The two then marched down the streets, with Saeko looking over the body parts littering the streets, but Masato paid them no mind.

"What happened here?" Saeko asked.

"I blew them up with a grenade." Masato said.

"So that was you..." Saeko said.

"Yes." Masato said.

"You know Itachi probably isn't happy you made that kind of noise." Saeko said.

"I do not care." Masato said.

"Sir, he may be venomous, but he is not evil; he's simply broken." Saeko said.

"Broken..." Masato trailed off.

"Sir?" Saeko asked.

"It's nothing." Masato said.

"If I can help-" He cuts Saeko off.

"It's nothing! Now shut your mouth and keep a lookout. You know they're drawn to noise." He snapped.

"Yes sir..." Saeko said as they continued looking around while marching down the road. Eventually, they turned a corner, and saw a swarm of zombies heading their way. Masato then put his shotgun on a nearby car and switched to his M4.

"Stay behind me!" Masato said before taking aim and opening fire on the crowd. It was the same kind of gunfire they heard before: Masato carefully aimed his M4 at the zombies, with each bullet piercing their heads one by one, without the full-auto setting used. No shot was wasted either; Masato's discipline and focus spoke for itself as he let off one shot at a time, dropping the zombie horde one at a time, despite how much ground they were gaining, and despite how many of the zombies behind them were tripping over their own, only to get a bullet through the head themselves.

Saeko then noticed the intense glare on Masato's face; he wasn't just doing his duty as a soldier, this was personal for him...very personal. As a kendo practitioner, she was taught to fight without having anything personal against her opponent, even her foes, and didn't even have anything against the zombies aside from the fact that they were a threat to the living. Even Itachi, despite having an ego the size of a planet still had nothing against the zombies personally; he killed them for a reason eerily similar to her. Whether or not he took pleasure in it aside from how much fun it was putting his skills to use however, was anyone's guess.

Masato's case however was different; there was nothing but cold-blooded hatred, and the zombies were paying the price. Before she knew it, he had taken down more than half their number at a distance with no more than two reloads, even then, he had plenty of shots left in his third clip. He then stopped firing once they were all dead, and then lowered his gun and sucked in a breath.

"They must have heard the grenade blast." Saeko said.

"And others will have probably heard the gunfire..." Masato said, and lo and behold, more zombies poured in from behind. Saeko then got to work beheading zombies one by one as they closed in. Masto meanwhile put his M4 away, grabbed the shotgun, and got to work unloading shells into the zombies on one side as Saeko worked on the other.

Saeko danced circles around the undead as they poured in from the side street, beheading any she could, and slicing into the heads of the ones she was furthest away from. Some even got close enough to grab her, and nearly succeeded, only to lose both hands, and then get their heads sliced open. Some got even stabbed in the side of the neck, where their spines were, and others were stabbed through their throats, into their brains. Saeko then kicked one to the ground, stabbed it in the head, then heard Masato unload the first shell from his shotgun, and snapped around to watch him.

At first, he simply stood there going back and forth between blowing the zombies' brains out, and cocking his shotgun. As the battle dragged on, he had to move to the sides, or backwards, especially as he reloaded, and then charged through them as he unloaded more shells into their heads. He then grabbed one by the face, shoved it to the side, stomped it's face in, then got back to blowing the zombies' faces off. At one point, he had to put the shotgun in the way as a zombie got close enough to lunge and try to bite him, then shoved it to the side, pinned it down with his boot, put the shotgun in it's face, then pulled the trigger.

"Well...that's it for them." Saeko said as she looked over the carnage...and noticed Masato moving along, and went to catch up. She then watched Masato load more shells, then cock his shotgun. It was clear they weren't done, or at least he wasn't...

Meanwhile, at Itachi's house, he was actually laying on a bed with the group on a bed as they listened to the distant gunfire, and Shizuka kept looking out the window.

"How much noise is that man going to make?! He's going to draw every zombie in the city to my house." Itachi said.

"He's making that noise at a distance; if anything, he's luring them away." Saya said.

"So, unless any of us start shooting them from here, we should be fine, right?" Shizuka asked.

"Yeah. Although...and I cannot believe I'm offering this, would you like to keep at least one of our guns before we leave?" Takashi asked and Itachi laughed.

"I would sooner throw a gun than shoot it." He said.

"Fine, don't take a gun then..." Takashi groaned.

"You never told us how you're so good at archery though." Rei said and Itachi smirked.

"Natural talent of course." He said.

"Figures." Saya said.

"I'll bet you kicked alot of ass in your school's archery club." Takashi said.

"I did...until I left." Itachi said.

"What?" Rei asked.

"As it turns out, I was too good at my craft for them, and I was sick of being part of something that wasn't challenging me, so I left and moved on to other things." Itachi said.

"You could have stayed and given them tips." Takashi said.

"Why would I bother? None of them could hold a candle to me, and I wasn't about to sink to their level." Itachi said.

"That's not what being in a group means. You're supposed to help the people around you grow, just like they're supposed-" Itachi cuts Takashi off.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, save the nugget of wisdom for someone who needs it." He deadpanned.

"You've got some nerve calling yourself an archer." Rei said and Itachi snickered.

"Lady...I call myself an archer because I can bullseye a zombie at 20 meters, or 66 feet if you want to be that guy." Itachi said and everyone stared at him.

"You know the metric system?" Shizuka asked.

"I may be a B student, but that doesn't mean I'm braindead." Itachi said.

"Could've fooled me..." Saya whispered.

"What was that?" Itachi said.

"Nothing." Saya said.

"Thought so..." Itachi said.

"Anyway...this is Saeko's second mission in a row, when are we getting a chance?" Rei asked.

"I seriously doubt she and Corporal Toriyama will get them all." Kohta said.

"I still can't believe he agrees that it's best we go to that base..." Takashi said.

"If he's already been there then of course he'd know better than us." Saya said.

"Uh...we have a problem..." Shizuka said and they all went to the window and saw a horde of zombies approaching.

"No! They must be going towards the gunfire! Saeko and Corporal Toriyama will get overwhelmed!" Takashi exclaimed.

"Sometimes I hate being right..." Saya groaned.

"What's the deal? They're getting drawn away; now you can leave sooner." Itachi said.

"We're not going to abandon them!" Rei exclaimed.

"Well, there's too many zombies out there, and I'm not wasting any arrows. Besides, they're both pretty tough...in their own ways." Itachi said...then Kohta did the unthinkable: he pulled the pin on a grenade and threw it into the crowd, blasting at least a dozen to bits.

"Take that!" Kohta exclaimed and Itachi rushed to the window, and the horde in front of the blast turned around. Then Itachi pinned Kohta to the wall.

"You braindead bastard! Now they're going to surround my house!" Itachi snapped.

"Like Rei said, we don't abandon our friends." Kohta said seriously, then Itachi let Kohta go.

"Fine...but you're saving my house on your own." He said as he walked to the exit.

"I thought this was your house?" Saya asked.

"No, you started this, you end it. I'm not wasting a single arrow." Itachi said before slamming the door behind him.

"As you wish Your Highness..." Saya groaned.

"Alright, let's get our shit together and get ready to put down some zombies. Move!" Takashi said and Kohta grabbed his sniper rifle, tossed Takashi his Benelli, and tossed Saya her MP5, and Rei brandished her rifle...which she never used at a distance before. She then went outside to start stabbing zombies as they got close, with the others picking zombies off from the second floor, each one shooting them down one by one.

Masato and Saeko rampaged through even more zombies in the middle of a park, with Masato continuing to pick them off with his shotgun, and Saeko rushing past them and butchering them in the usual manner. Eventually, Masato ran out of shells, then started bashing their skulls in using the shotgun as a club...just like Takashi used to do. He even rushed past Saeko, and the two danced around each other bashing and slicing zombies left and right until they were all dead.

They two then took a moment to catch their breath, and then more zombies appeared; they must have been drawn to the gunfire. Some even got close enough to make Saeko put her superior speed to use by beheading them one by one, before rushing off to face the rest of them. Masato then stopped to observe how swift, fluid...and unsettling her movements were; it was hard to believe she was a human being instead of a figure straight out of an anime that was either supernaturally gifted, or had cyborg parts...if only.

His thoughts were interrupted by the groaning of a zombie that caught him off-guard and grabbed him from behind. He then struggled to keep it back, but he was too tired, and zombies of course didn't stop for anything. Saeko then stopped butchering the last zombie in her area, then snapped around to hear Masato yelling in rage and headbashing the zombie in the nose, then snapping it's neck before slamming the back of it's head into the face of another zombie.

To her amazement, Masato didn't even bother turning the shotgun around to bash their skulls in; he was now only using his fists! He grabbed two zombies, slammed them into each other hard enough to cave their heads in, tossed them aside, kicked one down before stomping it's face in, grabbed one by the throat, lifted it into the air before slamming into the ground head-first. He then grabbed another zombie, slammed its head into the edge of a short brick wall over and over, before tossing it into another zombie and even side-stepped one zombie, stomped it's knee hard enough to break it, snaped it's neck, then ripped off its head before smashing it into the face of another zombie. Saeko's eyes widened greatly as she watched Masato rampage through the zombies in a fit of berserk rage, snarling and shouting all the while.

When he was done, dozens of zombie were dead, and somehow...he wasn't bitten. He was however exhausted as the intense adrenaline rush wore off, as did his rage-induced frenzy. Luckily, there were no more zombies in the area, and even though his armor was covered in blood, all of it could be wiped off. Coagulated blood didn't splash as much as living blood since a zombie's heart no longer worked, and gel is more resistant to splattering than liquid is. Saeko herself didn't use anywhere near as much stamina as Masato did...but her kill count of course wasn't even half of his, but since he was out of stamina until he caught his breath, she had to stand guard until more zombies arrived...which could be any moment.

As luck would have it, more zombies arrived, and Masato grabbed his M4, which he still had ammo for, and started picking off more zombies as they came down a narrow pathway. He was adept at landing headshots, but this case was just unfair; he barely had to move a muscle as the zombies were so tightly-nit, and were coming down such a confined space that he might as well have used full-auto and sprayed bullets in their direction. Even though he didn't, he was picking them off in what had to be record time.

They then looked around, and saw no more zombies left.

"O.k...that should be...all of them..." Masato said while catching his breath.

"What...the fuck were you thinking going off like that?" Saeko asked seriously.

"I didn't think at all; I didn't have to." Masato said.

"They could have bitten you." Saeko said.

"No they couldn't have, not when I'm like that." Masato said and Saeko sighed.

"Let's just get back to the others. That's the last of the undead, and we have a base to visit." She said before leading Masato back to Itachi's place...and saw it was surrounded by zombies.

Well shit...Itachi might be a shithead, but he does have good points. How is the group going to get out of this? Masato might be the toughest one in the group...debatably, but even he can't handle that many zombies all at once. Although, for those of you who somehow haven't figured it out, he's supposed to have a Doomguy resemblance, hence why he basically used a Berserk power-up in the park that one time. (Ripping and Tearing, until it is done FTW) Anyway, the massacre continues in the next part, so be sure to Rate, Review, and Share while you wait, so stay tuned.
