Hello people, and welcome back to Highschool of the Dead: Resurrection. This is it...the motherload...the end of this arc, and a chapter I've been itching to write for ages. Let's check it out...

Back at the apartments, Kohta was looking at the city through his sniper rifle's scope...and occasionally shooting down a zombie or two.

"See anything good?" Saya asked.

"I've been at this since they left and I haven't seen anything good this whole time, aside from all the dead zombies I put down." Kohta said.

"Let me look." Saya said.

"Alright..." Kohta said before making space for Saya, then let her take over. He then went inside, and looked over their ammo and weapons, especially the SAW. It was some time since they used it, so Kohta went over it's condition...and it all checked out. Sure there were signs of wear, but it was nothing he couldn't fix, but other than that, no rust, no major damage, and it wasn't loaded of course. He then went to check on Masato...who was standing up and looking out the window with his hands balled into fists.

"All those zombies...and here I am unable to get rid of them...!" He breathed out.

"Sir...?" Kohta asked.

"There are hundreds of zombies in this area alone...yet here I am, still helpless aside from all of you." Masato said.

"And we are not leaving sir, not until you're back on top where you were before." Kohta said.

"I know...even Shizuka has been feeding me quite well, better than I have ever eaten in fact." Masato said.

"Hey, she put that kitchen we found to good use didn't she? She's actually proving to be pretty decent wife material...if you don't mind me saying..." Kohta said and Masato sighed.

"Wife..." He whispered, then recalled the times he fought for her, with her, and how she took care of him now.

"Sir?" Kohta asked.

"It's nothing." Masato said.

"Well, if you ever need help..." Kohta trailed off.

"I said it's nothing...!" Masato breathed out.

"Alright...we still have your back sir." Kohta said before leaving Masato's room.

Outside, Saya was still searching the area, when she heard a plane fly overhead then saw it head to the mall area.

"That's where the group left...but the Ghosts will probably swarm that place, and who knows what they'll be carrying..." Saya trailed off, then went inside.

"We heard it too." Kohta said.

"It's going towards the mall, and the Ghosts will probably swarm the place. We have to send help." Saya said.

"But which of us-" Kohta stops talking when Masato opens his door.

"I'll go." He said.

"Are you crazy?! You're badly hurt!" Saya exclaimed.

"I'm fine, I just have to be more careful." Masato said.

"I suggest you take Saeko; she could watch your back." Kohta said.

"Good idea." Masato said before going back into his room, then coming out wearing his armor and carrying his SCAR before marching off to Saeko's place, then knocking on her door. When she opened the door...Masato saw that her eyes and cheeks were red and moist with tears.

"What is it...?" She breathed out.

"I would ask what the matter is but..." Masato trailed off.

"Please don't; it's deeply personal." Saeko said.

"Well, are you up for a supply run?" Masato asked and Saeko sighed.

"O.k..." She whispered before she went to get her gunto, then followed Masato down the street.

Meanwhile, Itachi watched the cargo plane fly by, and drop off a crate full of supplies in the neighborhood he was in, then looked back to see Rei and Takashi supporting each other. He then sighed; being the top dog wasn't without it's drawbacks.

"The Ghosts are probably going to try their luck at getting that crate." Rei said, and Itachi scoffed.

"What luck?" He asked before marching off.

"Let's go..." Takashi said, and Rei looked at him funny.

"I suggest you two stay here and rest; I'll get the supplies myself." Itachi said.

"Give us one good reason we should listen to you!" Rei yelled.

"Fine, don't stay here...but I'm not waiting for you." Itachi said before sprinting in the direction of the supplies. Rei then growled in frustration; his honesty wasn't without it's drawbacks.

"He's sort of right; we haven't checked this mall for very long, and we should at least make a stockpile to come back to." Takashi said.

"Right..." Rei whispered before the two limped back into the mall.

"Let me trying walking normally." Takashi said.

"Can you?" Rei asked.

"I'll try, but...damn that asshole hits hard..." Takashi groaned, and Rei slowly let go of Takashi, and watched him will himself to a decent posture.

"If you need help, I'm right here." Rei said softly.

"I know." Takashi said, before Rei gave him a quick kiss, then they left to search the mall...for real this time.

At the crate's location, a platoon of Ghosts marched over to grab the crate...but it landed on a roof.

"Dammit! Oh well, spread out and search for a ladder." A Ghost said.

"You heard him spread out and start looking!" Another Ghost said.

"They heard what I said dumbass." The first Ghost said.

"I was just adding emphasis." The second Ghost said.

"Well don't." The first Ghost said...then an arrow flew by and hit his head.

"What-what the hell!? Ambush! Get to cover!" Another Ghost yelled, and everyone got behind rubble, cars, or even a fallen tree and drew their pistols, or shotguns and looked around. Next thing they knew, two more arrows came from inside a store, and two more Ghosts dropped dead. The rest of the Ghosts then opened fire on the store with their fear overriding their common sense.

Itachi however wisely rushed out of the store through the back door before the shooting even started, then took cover behind a car and moved along it's side as the Ghosts inspected the damage.

"Did we get him?" A Ghost asked.

"I don't see any bodies..." Another Ghost said, then Itachi peeked out from behind a car, then loosed an arrow that hit a Ghost just under the heart.

"There he is!" A Ghost yelled before shooting at the car, and running out of bullets. Just as he finished reloading, Itachi was behind another car then put an arrow through his face.

"You're dead dumbass!" Another Ghost yelled before firing at the car.

"Wow...how long did it take you to come up with that?" Itachi asked before notching an arrow, then peeking out to see the Ghost come out from behind cover...only for Itachi's arrow to piercing his neck. The other Ghosts then growled and pulled their melee weapons.

"Kill that motherfucker!" A Ghost yelled and they all charged at Itachi, who then jumped over the car, and loosed arrows at them until he was out. When he was done, only a handful of Ghosts were left standing, and he put his bow away before bracing for action. One Ghost swung at his head with the but of his shotgun, then Itachi kicked him in the side hard enough to knock him down, then he spun around to trip another Ghost, then jumped at another Ghost before punching him to the ground.

"Smash his brains in!" Another Ghost yelled, before another Ghost swung at Itachi with a crowbar, then Itachi ducked the swing, gave him an uppercut to the jaw before kicking him down, then rolling away and running to the dead Ghosts behind cover.

"Get back here shithead!" A Ghost yelled, then Itachi grabbed an arrow and loosed it at the Ghosts, most of whom ducked, but another took one through the heart.

"How about you come here; you'll live longer. and lose later." Itachi said before snickering. The Ghost then took cover, with some throwing their weapons at Itachi who took cover then backed up as the Ghosts closed in.

"Grab his sorry ass!" A Ghost said, and Itachi rolled away.

"Sorry, I don't swing that way." He said.

"Wrong context asswipe!" A Ghost yelled before Itachi grabbed an arrow then jamming it into the throat of the nearest Ghost, then loosing it into the face of the furthest.

"And that is an actual arrow; don't overthink it." Itachi said before the rest of the Ghosts grabbed him and threw him back into the middle of the street. One then grabbed him and tried choking him, until Itachi punched him between the legs, making him scream and recoil enough for Itachi to grab one of his knives then stab the Ghost in the top of the head. He then rolled away as the other Ghosts tried to encircle him...then Itachi jumped onto one's chest, then jumped off of him hard enough to knock him down while the last Ghost watched Itachi flip through the air and land on the top of a car.

"I'll gut you with your own knife!" The Ghost yelled...before Itachi notched an arrow, and the Ghost stopped cold.

"You were saying?" Itachi asked while smiling.

"O.k...let's just talk about this...let's just...let's just call it a day before more people get hurt now..." The Ghost said.

"How about I do so afterwards?" Itachi asked.

"But I...I surrendered? I acknowledge-" The Ghost stopped talking the moment Itachi put an arrow through his face.

"Sorry...you don't get points for trying." He said casually before eyeballing all the Ghosts he slaughtered, smirked before taking his arrows back, then looked around for something to climb onto. He then heard footsteps behind him...and a single Ghost walked up to him.

"Impressive..." The Ghost said.

"Maybe for others, but not me...and what exactly makes you approach me after what I just did?" Itachi asked.

"Heroes always arrive at the last moment." The Ghost said.

"Hero? Interesting choice of words..." Itachi said.

"Ironic too; seeing someone take out that many armed foes is quite impressive." The Ghost said.

"20 times zero is still zero." Itachi said.

"You could stand to show some manners towards them." The Ghost said.

"Maybe, although...I should thank them for the win." Itachi said.

"Your arrogance is unbecoming...in more ways than one..." The Ghost said.

"It's hardly arrogance if you can back it up...now, if you'll excuse me..." Itachi trailed off before he climbed up a ladder he found, then ran along the roof of one house, before climbing onto the roof of another. Little did he know...a sniper had him in his crosshairs, and once Itachi tried pulling himself up, a bullet bounced off the gutter he was hanging from and knocked it loose. Itachi immediately started panicking and desperately clung onto the bending gutter for dear life...then it buckled under his weight and he fell onto the car below screaming on the way down.

When he landed, the roof of the car caved in, and Itach screamed as a shooting pain rippled through his body, and his breath became shallow and more difficult. He tried to will himself to get up, but failed multiple times, he then simply laid there as he composed himself, and finally climbed off the car only to fall onto the asphalt below. When he tried getting up...his heart skipped several beats...his bow was snapped clean in half!

The moment he saw this, he frantically looked at the two halves which were still joined by the bowstrings, but the shaft was ruined. In spite of this, Itachi tried to hold the bow normally, and pull the string, but not only did the broken wood scrap against his hand, but the pain in his back incapacitated him yet again. He then tried to get back up...only to get knocked back down by the butt of a basebat bat's handle, and then get a sniper rifle aimed at his despair-filled face at point blank range.

"Remember me? No, how could you...? I was half a mile away from you when I last saw you. Yeah, I saw you kill my two older brothers through this very scope. People like you are why we don't tolerate trespassers in this city...especially when they murder our kin. Now...vengeance is mine" The sniper said, and Itachi's eyes watered before closing as he prepared for the end of his life...he then heard two gunshots that tore through both the heads of the Ghosts standing over him.

Lo and behold, Masato was pointing his SCAR at them, and Saeko was behind him. Even from a distance Itachi looked pathetic, a man defeated...but she didn't shed one tear. Almost dying was too much...but other than that, he finally got his dues. Masato then marched over to Itachi, and helped him up before dragging him away.

"Put me down! I need my bow back!" Itachi yelled while struggling.

"It's broken." Masato said simply.

"No! It can't be broken! That's my bow! My bow! Without my bow I'm nothing! I must have it back! I need it, and it needs me! No!" Itachi yelled, before Masato punched him unconscious, then slung him over his back as the trio returned to base.

Well...it's finally happened. After 20 chapters, Itachi Fujinaga, got what was coming to him and he has no one but himself to blame. Let this be a lesson people, be careful what kind of influence you have on the world, or as a wise man said: karma's gonna get ya. Anyway...shortest chapter yet, but arguably the most serious, so in the next arc, we'll see where things go from here...especially since Itachi is damn near useless without his bow, so be sure you Rate, Review, and Share while I get cooking...again. Stay tuned.
