It is said that hope is sometimes a cancer. A feeling that is sure to harm if it goes unfulfilled long enough. Ambitions become burdens and wishes become unattainable tasks which turn a person's world upside down. There was a time when Peter felt this some way. On his knees with his wife's body in his hands he was forced to give up his dream of a life with her. He saw his dream die before him and in that time his world was chaos.
It was then that he had conflicting thoughts of what to do next, where to go. He had given up the path of the hero and then a life of peace was the next way to go. Somewhere in the shadow he chose to go back to New York, to change one outcome while ignoring the other. But recently the cause of his forgone happiness came back to him. It stood superior to him and mocked him for what little moment it stayed and its name was Devin.
His exile in darkness, removed from those he thought of as friends himself and the symbiote who became a partner. In the darkness he had only himself. Hope was a foregone feeling in that pit. The opportunities to escape were rare and along the way he had accepted his position. He didn't give Maria Hill the information that she wanted but he was stripped of humane treatment, something which gnaws at the mind over time. Even his muscles with their abnormal strength were thinner and hope of escape dwindled.
With the return of Devin, his focus had shifted once again. Hope had found him again, not so much to get out but to get his revenge. He should be looking for a way out.
During the times that the guards left him free from the magnets he began to exercise with crunches from time to time but not too often or the guards might get wise.
In the corner of his eye he noticed a shade of red against the dirty white of his cell. He knew what it was. It had been some time since the last visit but it was him. Mephisto had returned. His fangs became visible as he attempted to look sympathetic
"My dear Spider, it seems you have fallen quiet a distance" he said with a smug tone. "I bet you thought I was gone. How could I leave my favorite source of entertainment? Not after all that you have done, oh no, thanks are in order."
"First let me say that your execution of Wilson Fist was, literal, figurative and… invigorating. There was even a little hint of regret since he failed to finish his last words, very thoughtful of you. His soul all gift wrapped for me and it wasn't even Christmas (not that I celebrate it). That being said I want to give you something in return: your freedom. Completely free of charge with no strings attached."
"No" responded Peter as he turned away.
"No? I must say I'm disappointed, though not all together stunned. Don't you want to get your revenge? Don't you want to see that purple pustule Devin suffer for what he has done? I can make that happen. No souls, no strings, no"
Peter ignored Mephisto by simply starring at the wall.
"Dude just say yes" advised Deadpool from his cell. "Nothing good happens when you say no. they even made a crappy movie about it with Carry, a complete waste of comedic talent I might add."
"You can hear him Wade?" asked Peter.
"Yes… or I could just agreeing to be involved in the conversation. I don't judge Pete. In fact I have two voices myself"
"Well, I believe Wade has voted in my favor" said Mephisto as he walked around Peter into his field of vision with a sort of strut. "I only want to see you happy and get your own Hollywood ending. I would just hate to see your story end so shortly but we both know very well that I cannot force you, nor would it be any fun. That being said, it is an open invitation"
The red skinned demon vanished once again from view, leaving Peter with his mad neighbor. In a sense he wondered if he himself did not become unhinged long ago. But no, he needed to handle one thing at a time and the next thing was simple. He would wait until the appointed time, when the killer would come back for him as he promised he would and that did happen.
When the guards finally came they commenced with the usual transport procedure. The spider jammer activated to dull his senses a moment, the magnet activated to keep him from moving and finally the black bag to cover his face. At the base of his neck the bag was tightened to keep from falling off. Again they took him by the shoulders and dragged him to the next location.
Back in the interrogation room was Maria Hill leaning against the wall with her arms crossed in her S.H.I.E.L.D. suit. The door swung open with her prospect in hand and placed him in the chair. She scanned the bandage on his arm
"I hope that you're ready for the next round cause this time you're going to give me what I asked for."
"You need to stop what you're doing."
"Is that right. What makes you say that?"
"Because I know the man that you brought here"
Just then the door opened again with Devin invaded the space with his presence and a slick smile displayed for his foil to see. Mockingly he tossed off his purple overcoat and onto the table
"I thought I felt my ears burning for a reason" Said Devin with a moving his fingers to mimic the movement Spider-Man uses to shoot web-lines. "And it looks like I got here right at the juicy part right Spider-Man? Don't let me stop you, please continue."
"You…
"Almost there buddy."
"He killed my wife all as part of some sick game to capture me
"That's not what the report said" "He tried to reason with you after you took an elderly couple hostage for identifying two culprits after they killed his sister and incapacitate him."
"That is not what happened
"After all your bullshit you expect me to take you seriously?" "We have a file on that incident and the old couple involved corroborated the story."
Peter was stunned by Hill's words. That didn't happen at all. He remembered holding MJ's cold body in his arms, even after the rigor mortis set in. that happened and yet the report said otherwise. The gears in his head had turned, trying to understand what was happening to them and then it hit him. Did Hill even know what Devin could really do?
"Hmm, it seems that spider-Man thinks that I am someone else. I will quiet his mind and we can get to the heart of the matter in a moment"
Restrained to the chair, Peter was given little leverage to move out of the way as Devin's hand invaded his space. With glee Devin placed his hand on the top of Peter's head of hair and quickly recalled it with urgency. He fanned out his hand as though he had just touched a scolding hot stove. Hill's eyes widened fast after that as she watched from a distance, not to mention the fact that Peter himself had no clue either.
"What's wrong?" said Maria
I… don't know. That's never happened before" said Devin as he massaged his fingers. "Give me a minute. Seems I'll have to take my time breaking this one in."
"Just get it over with. I need to know what he knows, now"
Devin approached Peter again but this time he placed both hands upon Peter's head. After that everything changed into a black landscape with Devin alone and still with his hands out as though Peter's head were still in his grip. He stood up straight and walked forward. As he moved on the landscape began to construct itself beneath his feet. Specks of dirt came together and melded before him with each step. That dirt spread in all four directions and wooden boards formed a square to surround that area. Finally steel beams came down from the black sky and formed the skeletal structure of a building not quite finished with several floors.
Once Devin reached the foot of the building he touched the girder to feel its rusted surface.
"Such an empty life Mr. Parker but we both know that you have more to offer than this" said Devin as he approached one of the wooden walls which encamped the building. With a single punch he demolished the boards of the construction site bringing him to a densely wooded area with a harsh sun. "Now we're talking"
The humidity was great and heavy that Devin's clothes became sticky. He took off his tie and vest to drop on the floor. Through the green the heat beamed upon him as he walked on through the bushes and leaves. He loosen his tie and threw it to the side and unbuttoned the top three buttons of his collared shirt. The trek continued until he reached a temple. A structure built from slabs of stone
"Someone has seen raiders of the lost ark a few too many times in my opinion. But whatever is protecting your mind is here so here we go."
From out of the forest he walked to the mouth of the temple where a wooden stick hung on the outside of the doorway. As Devin picked it up the top end caught fire. Once inside he noticed indentations on the ground and walls in the shape of spiders. After a few steps his foot pressed hard onto a plate and forced it down. After that a line of darts ejected from the two walls. It happened so fast that there was no hope to evade it. The darts did hit but rather than dig into flesh they passed through Devin's form, leaving holes.
Devin shook and fell to his knees and struggled to stay up. The darts had pierced his very form, weakening his mind responsible for his appearance. He clenched his eyes shut and strained to gather himself again causing the holes to close once again. No doubt if he was to continue no there would be more traps but he rose up with torch in hand.
Continuing on through the hallway Devin was a little more cautious with each step. Each foot was about four inches ahead of the other. If the temple was like raiders of the lost ark then the next thing to look out for besides a pressure plate was a trip wire or something of that fashion. The air was stuffy and the humidity was worse than outside but still he pressed on when he entered a large dark room.
The next thing that happened was a hissing sound. Devin spun around with the torch on reflex with such speed that the flame grew weak from the sudden burst of air. With the light so dim it was harder to see. The flame grew steadily strong again but the darkness was stronger as it concealed whatever was lurking. It was hard to tell where it came from but he shuffled his feet and turned his head for a 360 degree view. While he did this he found it hard to move.
A jolt of fear had gone through him. It felt like something had grasped him by the arms, legs and back yet nothing was there. He struggled to break the invisible bonds with little succession only to realize that the flames revealed a line. This line was attached to Devin's arm but further investigation revealed that it wasn't the only one. From the looks of it he was caught in a net but he knew better than that. It was a spider web his tugs would surely beckon the construct which made them. After that he heard a hissing noise which came from above.
He watched as a pair of gleaning eyes drew closer. Its legs were hairless with a skeletal appearance while the body had a sort of black design which tracked from the legs to the abdomen resembling a spider cast over it. Slowly it drew closer, baring its teeth.
Devin struggled with little success. The sweat beaded down his forehead and into his eyes. This caused him to blink furiously as the predator drew closer and closer until Devin smiled wickedly.
He gave a loud yell and after that a force exuded from his body. This broke the web to pieces and cast the spider up, colliding into the ceiling and tumbled backward and into a wall. Devin dropped the torch from his hand. After that torches lit up on each of the walls of the room.
"So you're the construct keeping me from taking over Parker's mind? said Devin. "It was a neat trick but I'll smash you quick then I'll redecorate."
The Spider staggered to gains its footing and in that time Devin had dashed with great speed and brought his fist down together like twin hammers. Again the spider was down and Devin proceeded to dig his fingers into it, to break the skin. In response the black and white spider pushed back by jumping, this forced Devin to be hit and sent onto the ground as the creature landed on top of him with its legs stabbing into Devin's chest.
The space penetrated by the eight legs had created a void between the top and lower half of Devin's body. The spider then attempted to eat Devin with its Chelicerae. The fangs grew dangerously close to his face while its eight pitch black eyes peered into him. A back hand to the spider had disoriented it, making it wobble a few paces off to the left. This allowed Devin to reconnect the two parts of his body.
"Scrappy little figment"
The spider screeched back at him and scuttled away in a hurry.
"Disappointing but at least you know when you're beat" he said as he plunged his hand into the ground and drew out a stone. Once he threw it the speed was great, so great that when the spider expelled webbing the stone still made contact. The stone hit its legs which caused it to trip and turn over on its backside. A web-line to the ceiling, allowed it to reposition itself in the air.
As the spider walked on the webs overhead Devin continued to pull stones and toss them. They snapped the webs and threw the arachnid off balance. With little else to go it leaped toward Devin who dodged out of the way. They looked at each other, searching for some sign of weakness. With a quick spin around the spider shot a web-line and caught Devin and stuck him in a mound of fluid. He struggled but the spider had crept up to him in that time.
It hiss with its mouth bared to bite Devin's head but before that could happen Devin's fist rushed out of the cocoon and collided with the spiders face. This once again sent it on its back. With ease Devin tore of the web and waltzed over for the finishing blow. What he didn't realize was that the black outline the spider's backside was gone. By the time he did it was too late. He felt something cut through from the back of his stomach and come out of the front in the shape of a black human arm.
It didn't stop there when the shadow forced its second hand through the hole and turned Devin into two halves
Devin's body jerked backward from Peter's. Hill, who was behind him stepped to the side to avoid him. He slammed into the wall and fell with his back against the wall. His limbs shook greatly and his mouth stammered to speak
"What happened?"
"H-His mind. I-I-It's P-P-P-Protected"
"I don't have time for this. Can you do it or not?"
Devin cradled his head with both hands. "I can break him. I have never dealt with a barrier like this but now that I have seen how it works just need to gather up my mind again."
"Why wait for a battery to recharge if I can get a new one?"
"Because it's the right brand" retorted Devin as he leaned on the wall for support to stand.
Peter had his eyes closed and his head sunken into his chest. He listened to every word that they said. With luck they may have decided to take him back to his cell or even they might go back to torture for the answers. Something had stopped the mind control from taking place. The Other must have fought him off somehow which worked out fine. No need to worry about divulging any secrets about Cage and the others. Those would remain his alone.
"Dammit, get him out of here."
"Yes, ma'am"
The guards picked Peter up by the arms and carried him without the bag to block his vision. As they transported him he cracked his eyelids open a tad to get a look at the hall. Cell blocks were tight next to each other. There was no way to tell what corridor led where, a way to confuse any escapees from finding a way out. If he tried to leave now he would still have to free his legs. The struggle might not be worth it at all but then again it was the perfect time. There was no Spider-jammer, not drugs, no blinds not even a chair to be bound to except for his legs and wrists.
In the end he had decided against any action but to be dragged through the corridor. If he fought, his way out that would most likely result in his recapture soon after with no means to break the bonds. An attempt could yield some details yet to be gathered so a try might be beneficial.
With a swing of his contained arms to the right dislodged some of the guard's teeth. The one on the left had tightened his grip with both hands to keep Peter from swinging around again. In response Peter leaped with his legs pressed against the wall, forcing his back to the guard and knocking him down. With the guard on the ground Peter rolled over onto his knees and brought up both arms and brought it down. The guard was out cold and he was free to roam or rather hop.
His hops were small in increments to get a look around. As he moved he took a look into the rooms for familiar figures. One held a black youth by the name of Patriot with a simple bed, toilet and suit. Another room held a blind bald man surrounded by luminous light as a weak mist exuded from his body, he went by the name Shroud. These were just some of the souls captured but neither was the one he was looking for.
Two guards walked around the corner on the far side of the hall fully dressed in weight toward Peter with riot shields. He gave a look behind him and saw Hill with her pistol drawn in on hand and a small device in the other plus two more subordinates. In little to no time he was cornered from both sides. The captives in their cells came to get a look at what transpired outside. Peter was backed into a corner from both sides when the ringing of the Spider-Jammer bombarded his brain.
The guards assaulted him with their batons as the captives craned their heads to get a good look at the action. When the beating was concluded they picked Peter up and dragged him down the hall.
Back in his cell again he was left on the floor in pain. Was the attempt even worth the effort? He thought about this as he did for a way out. Lost inside of a broken world with no sense of a way out. For all of his planning an unexpected deception had placed him there. And though he had help from the other to prevent Devin from enslaving his mind like Mary Jane's was.

In the middle of sleep, his mind was called to attention by a familiar sound. Peter could hear the sound of gears turning and ticking. He rose up from the floor around the edge of the room and searching for the cause. Whatever it was it seemed to spread from one wall to the next, revealing a sort of hidden network that was out of sight. When it ended the glass window had rolled up slowly with a lone guard with the face and body covered over a slender form, giving the impression of a woman. On the other side with a rifle in her hands. The spider leered at her
"Only one of you this time? You must be getting cocky"
The guard kept her face covered in shadow as she looked down. Her thick visors covered her eyes along with her helmet and uniform.
"What'sss the matter Parker? Don't you recognize usss?"
"Venom!"
"Yesss and it looks like you are in desperate need of a sandwich. So what do ya say, ready for a prison break?"
"I love that show!" shouted Deadpool with a sudden burst to life. "Spider-Man, buddy, let me get in on this. You know your old pal DP memorized all the episodes."
It was unbelievable to see Venom in front of him. A part of him had considered that he had in fact gone crazy, that it was his imagination acting out but it was the alien. It tore open the cylinders on his arms and ripped the bonds on his legs, freeing him.
"How did you get in?"
"A lot of planning but we don't have time to explain" said Venom as it rummaged through its pockets and pulled out a watch-like device. "You need to suit up."
The device stolen from Reed's storage, the thing that Peter wanted before setting the symbiote loose upon the world.
Peter wrapped the watch around his wrist and as he did he could see Wade pressed against his window, watching Peter as he activated his new device by pressing its center piece.
"Que the old theme song"
After pressing down on the center it rose up slowly allowing a sort of liquid to spill out. It slowly spread over his right arm and the rest of his body until he was covered in silver. After a moment, certain areas had turned into more specific colors like a metamorphosis. The colors of red, black and blue with white eyes became dominant. On his backside was a sort of cape with a torn spider web design. On his chest and back was a large red spider design spread across the area and surrounded by black unlike his previous suits.
This was the culmination of his efforts beginning with the nanites he took from Dr. Fillmore's lab. The next step was the watch stolen from Reed's lab, a device Reed had once mentioned as a way at use nanites to create adaptable outfits. But the real gem of it all was the tiny piece of Venom Peter introduced to the nanites, allowing them to learn and further develop by deconstructing the sample. This final result yielded a suit with the strengths of Venom but not the adverse behavioral affects to keep his mind clear and hinged.
Spider-man walked out of the enclosed space to new found freedom. It was like having muscle on top of muscle, assisting his weakened body and making him feel strong again.
"Hey Spidey, you're not gonna leave DP are you? Not after all the bro moments we had. I was even gonna work on the photo album."
Venom gave the spider a look and said "you can't be serious"
"Just do it. He can keep the guards busy"
"Whatever but we have to move to the dimension gate before someone can shut them down."
Venom released the locks on Wade's door, freeing him as well."
"Love the costume by the way. It's dark, it's daring, it's… even more like my suit than before! My copyright lawyers are going to hear about this (after we finish clearing up loose ends to this current story plot)"
A blaring alarm sounded and lights flashed overhead, it was time to leave. The three ran down the hall
"Pete, I realize this might be a bad time but I need my weapons and I know they're here. My Pooley senses are tingling."
"The weapons vault is close to the dimension gate" replied Venom as three armed guards appeared with rifles. "We're on the right track. In the meantime you'll have to make due."
The Spider ran ahead of his companions and fired a web-line from each of his wrists. Both lines connected with a gun as he spun his body in mid-air, railing in both weapons which were then caught by Deadpool who leaped in front of him.
"Take notes kiddies" said Wade. "BANG, BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG"
Bullets flew across the hall collided with the walls and Kevlar, knocking over the agents. They groaned in pain and rolled over.
Deadpool had taken a few shots and bled before the holes pushed the bullets out and fully healed.
"Oh yeah, I still got it" said Deadpool as he approached the downed guard groaning in pain. One of the rifles was pointed at his prey's head "Now to get the first kill of the day."
Peter quickly ran passed Wade with Venom right behind. Wade held back his rifle in order to follow his partners and not get left behind.
"Your zombie friend loves to hear himself speak"
"Where are the gates?"
"On the upper floors
"I can't leave yet."
"We're not leaving, Parker. We're bringing the team here."
Venom was following the original plan to bring in the New Avengers and raid the prison. Whatever happened would all become clean in a short time so Peter continued running with his Symbiote companion and Deadpool following from behind.
He could hear the slow ringing build in his ear and burrow into his skull. His movement slowed to a crawl while Wade and Venom stopped dead and watched him.
"What's happening to him?"
"Idk, something with science!" (Yeah he actually said the letters)
More armed guards came from further down the path firing more rounds. Venom jumped ahead of those in its company and changed the shape of its hands into shields which blocked the incoming fire. Deadpool returned fire with Venom providing the cover.
"Uhh Petey, I know you're hurting but its anime power-up time!"
More guards approached from the rear, firing at the spider and pelting him with shots. The bullets bounced off of the surface of his new suit as he himself struggled with the Spider-Jammer signal. As he sat nearly helpless, his suit had reacted to his predicament.
"User is experiencing pain from unknown sound frequency. Unable to isolate sound. Preparing to cancel all sound."
He could feel the nanites which covered his head flex and move. It felt like more material was being generated to cushion. Nothing had penetrated the reinforced mask but his vision had returned as well as his balance and stood up. Without a second though he again rushed passed Venom and Deadpool with nothing to guard him but the suit on his back. There was no buzzing to warn him of the bullets hurtling his way. There wasn't even the sound of exploding chambers that should touch his ear drums.
"He should be down!"
"Just keep firing and he will be!"
In a full rush he leaped forward with his right knee out in front to collide with the chest of the first guards vest, propelling him backward into the others. He could not hear the sound of breaking bones nor the screams which resulted but it didn't matter they will not be allowed to mount a counter attack against him. The team on the other side was still firing though, causing Wade and Venom to press on and push the spider ahead of them and passed the final door and sealed it behind them.
As Venom approached the gate Deadpool followed Peter into the control room. The first place that he went to look was the security feeds. Cameras spread throughout the facility were labeled with the name of either their location or the subject which they observed. His eyes scanned the checked canvas of screens until he found a name he thought long gone. His mouth parted slightly. Beside the name was the floor and location of the individual which he made not of and looked to other monitors until he found Devin with a troop of Shield agents in his company.
They might have been escorting him away to another section of the compound, to another gate. Peter made note of their movements on a corresponding map that he found nearby as Wade searched for the fabled armory. He did find it behind a door to the right of the security cameras. Behind that door was an assortment of weapons and costumes including his own red and black suit. He picked up his trusty rusty katanas in each of his hands and began to cry.
"My babies!" said the mercenary in a high voice of utter joy. With both hands full his voice suddenly changed into a serious sentiment. "Daddies gotta get back to work."
Peter would have to be sure to reach Devin before he could disappear again but before that he needed to take care of something else. With his hearing gone he was sure to take more hits that his body could presently take. The Nanites had reacted to his distress, a sign that they had been effective but maybe it could do more. Peter approached a nearby speaker and placed his hand upon it, allowing the Nanites to unravel and feed into the woofer.
"Identifying sound frequency. Devising counter frequency now."
The Nanites within the woofer worked their way back out to join the rest and complete the suit. After that the spider had regained his hearing. No longer was he inhibited by Tony's creation and now nothing could stop him aside from a slight rise in temperature which just noticed.
In quick montage fashion Wade fitted into his old costume complete with Pistols at his sides and blades on his back.
"Ahh, still has that good old burrito smell"
As Wade fit back into his old costume and made action poses, Peter watched as Venom at the controls of the dimension gate. The symbiote stood at the control Panel entering the appropriate keys. It must have memorized the codes from the gate back at the base in order to attempt a link. When it was done Peter could feel the gate vibrate the roof, tunneling through the fabric of space to the other side. A wall of light filled the gateway and shortly after he could see the shadows of people walking through the veil of light.
The newly suited Spider-Man walked out of the control room and joined Venom as the group crossed over with was Luke Cage, sheepherding his alleys through the dimension gate. He approached Peter with a stern look while behind him were Daredevil, Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Black Cat, Wolverine along with Cloak, Dagger and Sue Storm.
"Holy Breaking Benjamin!" screamed Wade as he pushed through the oncoming heroes in order to reach the black and yellow Wolverine. "Logan, long time no smell."
Wolverine was in no joking mood as he sniffed the air as well as grinding his teeth together. He brushed Wade to the side
"Nice seeing you too Wade now beat it."
"Oh how did you know that was my favorite Michael Jackson song (although I have been told that I'm more on the thriller side). Besides me and Petey P. are bros now. Yeah, I really grew on the kid"
Without saying anything Peter threw the hardest punch he could muster, colliding his fist with Luke's cheek bone. The team leader took the punch and brushed it off without making a face.
"So Venom didn't tell you."
"We couldn't resist or rather we could."
"Tell me what? That you sold me to S.H.I.E.L.D?"
"That was a mistake"
"Didn't seem that way when you knocked me down."
"No it's true Peter" added Doctor Strange as he stepped forward and into view. "In fact that was what I meant to tell you before we were last cut off."
"We all had a talk, well most of us" continued Luke. We knew that we needed to do something to get the ball rolling so we thought like you. Fake handing you over so you could get inside and figure out a plan to break out but we didn't want to tell you until after because we didn't think you could act the part. We even left Cat and Wolverine out to make it more convincing."
"Do what you want" said Peter as he walked away from everyone. "I have a score to settle with Mary Jane's killer."
Why did he say that? He could have just kept that to himself but he didn't as if a part of him wanted see if Luke would oppose him but that didn't happen
From behind Black Cat had wrapped her arms around Peter. "Hey Parker. Nice suit." She kissed his cheek and let him walk away.
"Don't encourage him it's just an imitation of the original."
Peter leaped from the roof and descended amongst the lower structures of the prison.
"Does that mean we are officially killing? Cause as a longtime resident I think it's time to get rated R on these mother-"
"Do what you have to not get captured" interjected Cage
"Hmm now that we are on the other side I sense what prevented us from transporting here. I will find and destroy whatever it is to ensure an alternate escape route. Be warned, until this force is removed we will not be able to communicate."
"The rest of us will set as many free as we can" said Luke. "But be careful the big guns can't be too far behind."
"Uh, sure thing chocolate man" said Deadpool. "Just give me a minute."
In order for the team to know where to go and navigate their way through the prison. To do this Deadpool returned with a navigation device and a large sack on his back. All they needed to do was search for the person or area they were looking for. As the group descended they noticed a long hallway with cells lined up. Luke and Wolverine proceeded to open the doors. The first door had a teenage girl behind it with long Dark hair. Her name was Kate Bishop and she had taken over the persona of Hawkeye in the absence of Clint Barton and member of the Young Avengers.
"Well HO HO HO little identity thief!" bellowed Deadpool with a large sack on his back filled with. "A bow, Arrows and matching suit for you. Potential partner in crime for me."
The Youth joined the troop with her weapon at the ready and in her purple suit, shades and a white scarf wrapped around her neck. She was but the first on those to be freed. A member of the Young Avengers, A team of teenagers with abilities and a need to use them. They were part of Luke's direction before Tony picked them up one at a time, the last being Patriot. Started down the hall with her bow held out in front of her.
"Slow down" called out Sue.
As Kate turned the next corner a wave of energy blast would have blitzed her if not for Sue's invisible Shield guarding her.
"Try to take better care."
"Sure thing" replied Kate as she shot an arrow to the wall, sending it on a ricochet path and afterward a metal clank sound of the arrowhead hitting the floor.
"Stop resisting and you won't get hurt, much" called out a voice from around the corner. A man, covered in brown leather and rusted metal strapped to his head, chest knees and feet observed the corner. Spikes covered his body and over the pectoral section of his chest were vents which had blood trail down from them. To the world this man was formerly known as Speedball of the New Warriors but After the Stanford incident and Civil War Robbie Baldwin became Penance.
Dagger looked Cloak in the eyes and said "Are you up for a fight?"
"Let's do it"
"You guys should go around another way"
"You won't get far!"
As Luke lead the group down the other direction of the hall Iron Fist caught up him and asked "So what now?"
"Penance was just the first, we have to free as many as possible before Stark or SHIELD can box us in. We need to start tearing this place apart but as a team.
Kate Bishop still had one thing in mind like everyone else. She was looking for the other members of her team, mainly Patriot. As a group they could take down almost anyone but it would take too long that way. So in rash decision she took the next turn down the hall. Black Cat saw the young Hawkeye and followed her.
As Luke and his group continued on but the opposition only got worse when they reached a large lobby area with the Mighty Avengers waiting in the center. Wasp, Sentry, Wonder man, Ares, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow and Iron Man in his Axis Armor. With Spider-Man gone as well as Doctor Strange, Hawkeye and Black Cat going on their own paths Luke had lost the man-power to topple them out right. With Luke, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Sue, Deadpool, Venom and Wolverine it was an even seven on seven battle.
"Just remember, don't let them get Venom" said Luke in a low whisper just so his comrades could here. "If they take it this battle with be over really fast. Stay on the defensive."
"Sue, been awhile" said Tony "came to see Reed? Guy hasn't been the same without you and the kids, speaking of which."
"My children are none of your damn business, where is Johnny you bastard."
"He's around. Just hand Venom over and we'll talk about it"
"How about we cut to the action." Wade shouted as he pulled his gun from its holster and fired shots at Black Widow but they were deflected by Ms. Marvel. Everyone turned to look at Wade and what he had done as though his preemptive strike were a violation of an unspoken pact "What? You didn't think I'd start with someone bulletproof did you?"
To retaliate Ms. Marvel flew forward toward Deadpool who made a kung fu stance. One of the only people to stop her or half of Tony's team was Luke with his unbreakable skin resulting in an impasse. Wolverine called for Venom's attention to make the next move a good one, the fast ball special. The Alien bulked up in mass and picked up Logan with one hand and threw him at Ares. Head first his claws entered the chest of his prey and knocked him over.
Black Widow chose to engage Daredevil, her ex-lover in combat. The two danced around each other, in the sense that both were too skilled to be hit. Daredevil had his Billy clubs drawn, taking a swing at her only to be blocked. After blocking his first strike Natasha activated the bracelets on her wrists which made a whining sound. Charged with electricity ready to shock him unconscious but Matt swerved out of the way and grabbed her forearm.
Sue, the Invisible Woman confronted Wonder Man after covering herself to blend in with the surroundings. She took jabs at him but not to hurt him. She wasn't strong enough to do that but she could throw him off balance. As she landed her fist upon him she thought of her brother Johnny. She needed to find him and every second in the current battle made it seem impossible to win but she couldn't leave either. If Reed had anything to do with Johnny's cell he would design it in a special way that required a different environment. She would have to hope that Kate, Felicia or even Stephen or Peter would find him first.
The Sentry, Robert Reynolds engaged Venom without fear, after all this wasn't the first time that he fought a symbiote. After a prison break at the Raft, Reynolds defended the bystanders by flying Carnage to space and ripping him in half. He could kill Venom but Tony wanted it intact so forethought was needed. The alien slimmed down in size from a near Hulk to a skinny female form with long nails and fired web-lines. Sentry caught the lines and whipped it, throwing Venom toward a far wall and flew after it.
The symbiote landed on the wall with perfect grace and leaped off of it toward Sentry in a spiral motion. It managed to evade and slash Sentry from the ribs down and land on the floor in a dodge roll and looked back at its enemy with a wide smile and its tongue whipping to both sides. Blood trailed down its fingers but that smile was wiped away when the new wounds healed.
Iron Fist rushed Iron Man who deployed his orbs which drew close. Danny pressed his fist against and open palm, allowing it to glow and drove it through the first orb and swung his foot toward a second but was caught and flew upwards. He was thrown off balance for a moment and then recovered, slamming his foot into the ground and cracking the second orb.
The last pairing was Deadpool and Wasp. Wade swatted at his enemy combatant with both hands as she evaded and shot him repeated with her energy blasts. Comically, Wade yelped in pain as Wasp continued her counter attack. Eventually he managed to sandwich her between both of his hands and laughed maddeningly. A moment later he discovered that she was actually fine. Her tiny arms kept his hands from truly meeting. Wasp repelled his hands and flew to his face, delivering a punch which sent him flying.

The new Spider-Man rushed down a hallway in a full sprint motion. He knew just where he was going, not to Devin but to the other person. The one Tony was hiding and the reason for his further developments into researching his powers.
If more guards had gotten in his way Peter dispatched them quickly and kept moving until he reached a new corridor heavy with cameras. His suits nanites had shifted from solid colors to camouflage him from view until he reached it. A cell exactly like his with a viewing glass and a man bound to the center of a circle most likely magnetized. Peter's suit reverted to its original colors and he punched the key pad, damaging it.
The door slowly rolled up, revealing a large man sitting in the corner with his head low. His hair was long and messy, covering his face. His skin was plagued with large veins which had spread across to every part of his body that was visible. Slowly he craned his head up to look at the person who invaded his space.
"Only one of you this time?" called out the voice with a chilling calmness "You assholes must be getting cocky."
"No Kaine, it's your brother" said Peter as the mask section of his suit retreated from his face. "It's Peter."
