"Kol, we can't do this." Lacy breathed between rough kisses.
"Why not?" he asked, enjoying the sensation of Lacy's warm skin beneath his finger tips as he traced them across her lower back.
"It's wrong. Nik-"
"Isn't here." he finished; cutting off any further contentions to stop their actions by slipping his tongue into Lacy's mouth and swiping it gently across hers.
With a satisfied smirk playing on his lips, Kol revelled in the jolts of pleasure and excitement that ran through his body as Lacy's hands scraped across the soft skin and hard muscles of his back. He could feel himself becoming as hard as steel with every minute that passed, and the urge to bury himself so deep within Lacy was almost overwhelming.
"Kol-" spoke Lacy, breaking away from the kiss but finding it difficult to form a coherent thought as Kol attacked her neck with gentle bites.
"Stop worrying."
"But Nik-"
"Won't find out."
"What if-"
Frustrated at the constant interruptions, Kol pulled himself away from Lacy's body and took a few steps backwards for good measure; determined to limit the amount of temptation in front of him. He was struggling to accept Lacy's concerns about his older brother; feeling that it was so unjust. He had loved her for an undeterminable amount of time and had never been afforded the opportunity to receive her love - only her body. It was not the situation or future Kol wanted but he reasoned that if he could not have Lacy's heart, he could at least enjoy her body on the occasions she presented it to him.
"He didn't find out the first time… or the last time. He didn't find out that time we were fucking in the bathroom during Elijah's birthday party last month."
"He's my best-friend, Kol."
"Exactly! He's your friend and my brother. You don't belong to him."
Closing the gap between himself and Lacy, Kol cupped Lacy's cheek in his hand and stared into her doe-like eyes.
"You can leave any time you want. I'm not going to make you stay. Or you can stop worrying about my damn brother for once, and allow me to make you feel good."
Remaining silent for a moment as she fought internally to come to a decision, Lacy bit her lower lip and watched as Kol's eyes darkened.
"Oh, screw this." muttered Kol, tangling one of his hands in Lacy's dishevelled hair and letting the other drop lower and creep underneath the hem of her cotton dress.
The sudden intake of breath and consequent moan of pleasure that escaped Lacy's slightly parted lips rocked Kol to the core, and he buried his face into the nape of her neck as he fought to contain his composure. His fingers made quick work of removing Lacy's panties and he pushed them gently into her core; enjoying the tightness he found and the way he made the woman he loved purr his name in delight.
Quickening the pace of his fingers, he kept his head buried and concentrated hard on Lacy even as she bucked her hips against his hand in the pursuit of further pleasure, and as her nails dug almost painfully into the muscles of his back. He half-wished he had not chosen to remain standing with Lacy pinned against the cold wood of his bedroom door.
"Say it." he whispered into Lacy's ear.
He was desperate to hear her say the words… even if he knew they were lies that only ever fell from her lips when she was in the midst of uncontrollable sexual gratification.
"Kol…"
"Say it."
Her mind so hazy from lust and desire for the explosion of pleasure she knew was coming her way, Lacy clung to Kol's half-naked body and spoke the words that she knew would placate him.
"I'm yours."
"Kol?"
Rebekah's voice cut through Kol's private thoughts and he shook his head as he slowly rejoined the world and focused his sole attention on his younger sister. Staring at the woman, he fold her with her hands up her hips and glaring at him; a look of annoyance on her face.
"What?"
"Will you stop bloody day-dreaming. It's your turn." she indicated, pointing to the green top of the pool table on which they had spent the past half an hour playing.
Forcing a smile onto his face, Kol pick up his pool cue and surveyed the table; determined not to lose the game to his sister. He was in the middle of deciding which shot to take when he heard Rebekah address him again.
"I can't believe Nik's going to have a baby."
"Yeah, well, you know Nik. The girls just love him."
"Kol, we're going to have a niece or nephew soon. You could be a bit more excited about it."
"Forgive me, dear sister, for not being overjoyed about Niklaus's offspring. If you ask me, that kid is better off away from this family."
"You're such a ray of sunshine." Rebekah said, smirking when Kol missed his shot and it became her turn to continue the game. "It's kind of cool about Lacy and Nik, don't you think?"
"Hmmm."
"Jesus, Kol! What is wrong with you lately?!"
"Nothing. I'm just sick of playing this stupid game."
Throwing down the pool cue, Kol turned his back on sister and ignored her shouts as she called after him.
"Tell me again why I agreed to this stupid dinner?" Klaus asked as he buttoned up his favourite blood-red shirt.
"Because you love me." Lacy stated simply with a wicked smile. "And because we want Elijah to be happy."
"Sweetheart, I highly doubt Elijah needs our help. He is perfectly capable of arranging his own dates."
Batting away Klaus's wandering hands, Lacy continued to set the table for dinner. She had barely placed the last item of cutlery when Klaus pounced on her; crashing his lips against hers and sneaking his hands beneath her satin skirt and up to the supple flesh of her thighs.
"Nik, behave." whispered Lacy, pushing Klaus away from her slightly.
"Problem, love?" he asked, smirking like a Cheshire cat.
"Hayley and Elijah will be here any minute."
"I'll be quick." he argued softly.
Pushing Klaus even further away, Lacy grinned when she saw the man frown with frustration. Readjusting her skirt, she pecked Klaus on the cheek.
"Be patient."
"I don't do patience, love."
"I've noticed. Look, Nik, my entire life has been turned upside down since Caroline showed up. This is the most normal thing we've done in ages. Please, just do this for me."
Feeling a shard of guilt course its way through his heart, Klaus pressed his lips lovingly to Lacy's forehead and held her gently.
"Of course."
"Thank you."
An instant later the doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of their guests. Separating herself from Klaus, Lacy raced to the door and pulled it open to see Hayley and Elijah in the midst of an embrace; Elijah's hand tenderly cupping Hayley's cheek.
"Hey." Lacy stated, smiling uncontrollably as she watched Elijah drop his hand away from Hayley's face and stare sheepishly at Lacy.
"Thank you for inviting us to dinner." replied Elijah as he and Hayley entered the house.
"No problem. Nik bitched and moaned about it as you would expect, but he came around eventually."
"Ignore her lies, Elijah." smiled Nik as he greeted his brother with a brief hug and gave Hayley a simple smile. "She enjoys thinking she has me wrapped around her finger."
"I do have you wrapped around my finger, Lacy retorted as she led them all into the dining room."
"She's delusional." Klaus whispered.
"I heard that!"
A few hours later, as the sky began to darken into a shade of indigo blue that signalled the arrival of evening time, Lacy's sister found herself standing on the doorstep to the home her younger sister shared with Niklaus Mikaelson. Her travel bags lying at her feet, the woman stood with her hands on her hips as she surveyed the quaint, red brick house.
Nearly two weeks had gone by since the woman had had any contact from Lacy, and her worries and concerns had driven her to take time away from her job and beloved New York city to return to her home town. Picking up her bags, she climbed the half a dozen steps that led to the brightly painted white front door and pressed the door bell. The faint sound of the bell rang out and it was nearly a minute before the door was opened.
With a near-empty glass of wine clutched in her hand, Lacy forced herself to blink a few more times as she came face to face with her older sister; almost sure that the half a bottle of wine she had consumed thus far was causing her to hallucinate the woman's appearance.
"Well… are you going to make me freeze my ass off or are you going to let me in?"
"What? Oh, yeah! Oh my god, I can't believe you're here!" Lacy half-squealed with happiness. "Come in!"
Ushering her sister inside, Lacy gave no thought to the guests who were in the room to the left as she continued to look at her sister with a stunned expression.
"What are you doing here?"
"I had some time off work and I thought I'd come visit my favourite sister."
"I'm your only sister." Lacy retorted. "And you hate this town… she still lives here, you know."
"Yeah, I know." she replied, knowing exactly to whom Lacy was referring. "Can't a woman just come and visit her baby sister?"
Raising an eyebrow at the older woman, Lacy waited with a dubious look on her face.
"Fine… I was worried about you."
"There's no need. I'm happy."
"Well, I want to see it for myself."
"Lacy?"
Klaus's voice called out to her and Lacy suddenly remembered the guests she had been entertaining minutes earlier. With her anxiety levels rapidly sky-rocketing, Lacy gulped down the remaining wine in her glass and beckoned her sister to follow her.
"Be nice." she warned.
"I'm always nice." the woman said with a scoff.
Entering the room, Lacy instantly witnessed Klaus's smile fall from his face as he registered the presence of Lacy's older sister. Across the table, Hayley and Elijah, who were deep in conversation, became aware of the growing silence and awkwardness that was permeating the small room and looked away from one another to investigate the cause.
"Look who's come to visit, Nik." Lacy said with a strained smile.
"Niklaus Mikaelson… it's been a while. I heard you got someone knocked up."
"Hello." Klaus answered; his fingers gripping his own wine glass so tightly that they have turned white.
"I don't believe we've met." the woman said, turning her attention away from Klaus and towards Hayley.
Next to her, Lacy gave Klaus an extremely apologetic look and hoped with every cell in her body that a raging argument would not break out and spoil the night. She was so focused on Klaus that she did not even notice that her sister had neither looked at nor spoken to Elijah.
"Hayley…" Elijah began, placing his hand on hers but keeping his eyes firmly on the brunette woman standing on the other side of the table. "This is Katherine, Lacy's sister… and my ex-wife."
