Author note: Hey everyone! It killed me but I've managed to finish today as promised *fans air to herself*
By now I have planned out certain things. This story will have at least 14 chapters but probably not more than 16...At least I hope so.
Also most chapter titles are from songs. Songs that are supposed to get me into the mood of those chappies. Songs that I listen the whole time while writing. You can do so while reading, or don't, it's up to you completely ;) This chapters title is from the song 'Lost Then Found' by Leona Lewis and One Republic.
The dialogue between Aidou and Kaname was stolen from the third episode of Vampire Knight Guilty when Aidou is having a flashback ^^
I would love to know if the way I've used Amelies language is okay. Should I keep the translations like that or should I put a translation at the end of the chapter? I thought it would be easier like this so you don't have to scroll up and down all the time.
Btw I'm sorry that this chapter turned out so much longer than the other two (while the other two chapters had 5-6 pages on word, this one has 11)...or is it better that way? What do you think?
Courtesy to my mom I re-read everything before uploading for once...I hope I got most mistakes x.x
I'm looking forward to your reviews
HAVE FUN
Chapter 3: Things we can't take back
The young male didn't hear Takuma's soft protest in the way the noble hissed Kaname's name nor did he feel the purebloods fangs break his skin. No, Zero was oblivious to those things, his head taking him far away into a time long long gone.
Zero waved until he couldn't see any of the three backs anymore that belonged to his most favorite persons outside of his family.
"That was fun" he happily said to the slightly older guy behind him.
"Your definition of 'fun' never ceases to amaze me. Didn't you get your ass handed to you several times today by him?"
The little boy turned glaring at his friend and senpai.
"You're just jealous you're not getting trained by the pureblood prince. That all of those three train with me but Kaname refuses to train with you."
"You do realize that's stupid? Of course I am not jealous. Why would I?"
"Because he's supposed to become the strongest."
"Right chibi" Kaitou retorted annoyed ruffling the others hair.
"Maybe you should look out for chibi2. He left when he heard Kaname was coming over didn't he?"
Zero closed his mouth which he had opened to give Kaitou a piece of his mind and instead turned to look towards the forest in front of his house, worry rolling off of him in waves.
"You're right. And it's almost getting dark too..."
Sensing that his beloved chibi was about to burst out in tears, the older hunter-trainee hugged his kouhai from behind, resting his chin on the others head.
"Let's search for him together. You still have Kaname's present, right?"
"The cell phone? Of course...I would never lose anything he gave me."
"Good. Then let's separate and search him."
"Okay."
With that both boys took off.
Zero was sick with worry. He hated not knowing where his way weaker and almost always sick baby brother was. What if something had happened to him while he was enjoying himself? He would never forgive himself. Forcing himself to calm the silver haired boy came to a halt in the middle of the forest and closed his eyes trying to feel his brothers. He had a good reception on feeling vampires auras as well as hunters though he never figured out why. While he used to think every hunter pureblood could do such a thing, he recently talked to his parents and found out he was an exception. Another reason for the other hunters to bully him. He was apparently too much pureblood...Too much a vampire. Great. But at times such as now it should come in handy, shouldn't it? Zero tried to concentrate on what should feel like a weaker version of his own aura. Soon enough he felt a rather bright breeze, immediately recognizing it as Kaitou's aura and element. Obviously he was using his power to manipulate wind to find the lost twin. Reaching out farther he soon felt the welcoming and comfortable warmth that only his father's and Ichiru's aura had. The soft flame that always burned inside of them. Quickly Zero sped off into the direction he had felt his brother, not really surprised about finding him at the lake. For one reason or another Ichiru would claim that the lake felt like Zero, kind of like Zero would have filled the lake with his element. Zero didn't understand it but he knew the pull to said lake as he felt it himself. It was here that he first found out about his powers over water. He was so happy to have inherited his mothers ability though he did find it a little girlish...Until he came to learn how powerful water could be.
Once Zero was close enough to see the familiar shock of silver he started to run even faster, almost glomping his twin from behind but made sure to only hug him tight.
"What were you thinking, taking off like that? Do you even know how worried I was? Kaitou too."
"You have chosen already, did you not?" was the whispered answer.
"Chosen?"
"You know incest isn't anything unusual between purebloods. Even hunters. There is a reason why male purebloods can become pregnant...You've always claimed that I was your sun. That you loved me. I certainly love you. And Kaitou loves you too. You have all remaining hunter purebloods lying at your feet. So why? Why do you choose him?"
Zero tensed at that and tried to laugh, failing horribly.
"We are only three...We shouldn't think about such things. Why would I choose a partner now?"
"We are purebloods. We are half vampires. That's the sole reason we're so far already. Talking, walking, fighting...It's all because we're half our own prey. And now stop avoiding my question. Why?"
Swallowing and tightening the hold on his beloved twin, Zero responded.
"We are twins. We are the same. We are suns. I need a moon to complete me. I can't help my feelings, can I? Besides it's not like we'd get married or anything tomorrow. I don't even know if he feels the same..."
"Of course he does, idiot. Why else would he do anything and everything for you and nearly live the life of a human. It's just for your sake."
Ichiru turned around to watch into a matching pair of lilac eyes.
"You know it, don't you? In order to become his man...you will need to become his mate. He will turn you. Sooner or later at least."
Realizing that Ichiru has done way more thinking than Zero ever imagined he decided to drop the act and nodded seriously.
"Yes. I am very aware of that. I have had a talk about that to mom and dad too. I'm okay with that. So are they. We are half vampires anyway as you've just pointed out yourself."
"He might use that connection as your master to keep you as slave instead of his mate."
"I trust him. And I do not want you to talk so lowly about -" Zero started, seriously pissed but was interrupted by his reflection's lips on his own. The connection only lasted a second but it was enough to shut the older twin up.
"A vampire and a hunter is wrong. You guys are wrong and you could never be right."
"We'll make it right." Zero said determined, knowing that as long as Kaname is with him he could do everything.
Suddenly everything swirled and became blurry.
Once he saw clearly again he was in a huge room filled with vampires in fancy outfits. Classic music reached his ears. Scanning the room he saw a lot of vampires he knew from visiting meetings and soirees with his parents. He also recognized the hunters that were supposed to guard the ...soiree it seemed to be. Looking down on himself Zero saw a nicely fitting suit. He didn't remember why he was there or why he didn't remember coming here but before he could wonder about that or look for his parents he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around, the first thing he saw was a shock of blond and piercing green eyes before he was hugged.
"Happy belated birthday. I'm sorry I didn't make it in time for your birthday...Grandfather insisted on taking me oversea for that meeting. I do have your present in my room though. You're sleeping over with your parents aren't you? I'll give it to you later or tomorrow at breakfast."
"My birthday?"
"You turned 6 a few days ago...Or did I mess up again? I know I suck at such things."
"Oh...No, you're right...I just didn't think about it anymore. You didn't have to go so far and get a present though" Zero answered surprised but definitely happy.
"It's nothing special. And of course I had to get my favorite hunter-chan a present! Ahhh...my grandfather is giving me signs to come over. I'm sorry Zero-rin. Enjoy yourself!" Takuma started to leave towards his grandfather but stopped just having passed Zero. Without either boy turning around the blond took Zero's hand and squeezed it gently.
"One more thing...Kaname...He is here too somewhere. I thought you should know that."
Tensing up, Zero quickly turned towards Takuma but the latter had already left off.
He was scared of seeing the other pureblood. Paired with his fear the hunter could feel himself fill up with sadness and pain. He didn't understand why though. He loved Kaname, so it was good to see him again, right? It's just the way Takuma informed him about Kaname being there as well...It seemed like a warning and he sounded...like he was sympathizing with him. And he himself didn't feel at ease at all. His heart was clenching up. He could barely swallow, seemingly having a huge lump stuck in his throat.
Then he felt it. The presence he loved so much. The warmth that would surround - No. That was wrong. It certainly was his beloved vampire's aura...But it wasn't warm. It wasn't gentle. It was cold and scary and distant and indifferent.
Turning towards the source of said aura, Zero saw the young pureblood walking next to Ichiou. Not understanding why his pureblood wasn't with his parents but with that noble of which he knew Kaname couldn't stand, Zero watched them passing the room. Feeling his whole being trembling with sadness and suppressed tears, Zero tried to wait patiently for Kaname to notice him before realizing Kaname didn't do anything like that and started to approach him but saw Kaname taking off towards the balcony where a blond guy was with his back to them until he probably felt Kaname up so close and turned. Zero recognized him from a photo on Takuma's desk as ...what was it? Ai...Aidou...Hanabusa?! Yeah, that was it. Zero got closer hiding his aura and decided to listen on to those two. Once he was close enough he shivered at the cold aura Kaname was emitting.
"Did you have any other painful things that happened?" the unfamiliar boy asked, making Kaname come to a halt who was already about to take his leave.
"Why do you think so?" was the answer. Somehow both, question and answer, made Zero tense up. It felt like they were talking about him but at the same time ...it wasn't possible...was it?
"No, no real reason."
Both Aidou and Zero flinched at the suffocating aura Kaname released for a second before the dark haired vampire decided to just pierce the noble with his gaze.
"I'm asking you why."
According to Aidou's trembling figure and the way he looked confused and sad, Zero figured that he thought the same as himself: Had Kaname always been this scary? However the hunter didn't have much time to dwell on it as Aidou answered.
"You've changed a lot."
Kaname turned.
"I see. Is that it?" he questioned before slowly approaching the blond and embracing him. However Zero didn't feel any kind of jealousy but was quite glad he himself wasn't on the receiving end of that embrace seeing how cold it seemed and how...threatening. Zero felt vindicated upon hearing Kaname's next sentence.
"I thought about killing you, if you knew anything more than that."
Killing Aidou? Killing anyone wasn't Kaname's style at all...was that really the same person he came to love, Zero wondered.
"I'm joking because I was bored."
Before either the 'jokingly' threatened noble nor the eavesdropping hunter could catch up with the turn of events, Zero heard a deep voice behind himself calling out for Kaname.
Said boy turned to face the person who called him: Ichiou.
"There is a person over there that would like to console you."
Console? What for? Did anything happen? Anything that would explain Kaname's change of heart?
"Okay, I will go right away, Ichiou." Kaname replied calmly.
Feeling the pureblood getting ready to leave the gallery Zero hid himself better but was still able to listen to everything.
"Kaname-sama, if you don't like this, it's okay to say so!" the blond suddenly shouted after Kaname.
"That's why I said, why do you think-"
"I know because I'm Kaname-samas friend!"
Kaname's friend? Kaname never mentioned having any friends besides Takuma, Takeo and Natsuki.
"Didn't you say you hated me?"
Wait...what? Who could hate Kaname if they're not another pureblood and not politically in a fight with him? Though the latter is a stupid reason as it's Kaname's parents who are involved in politics, not Kaname.
"No, I like you, but I hate myself for not being able to admit it."
Like? Like like what? Okay scratch everything. Now Zero was jealous. And scared. Which made him pause for a second. Why was he that scared of losing Kaname? They were madly in love, so there was no reason to worry, right? Zero didn't understand anything anymore.
"I...I like you, Kaname-sama!"
Really? Good for you. But he's mine, Zero thought possessively. Luckily for him Kaname didn't stop again to consider the others feelings.
Before Kaname could reach the lady that wanted to talk to him Zero grabbed his sleeve and pulled him outside, trying his best to not wonder about what he wants to say to him nor to tremble scared from Kaname's suppressed but still steadily darkening aura. Once far enough in the garden to have some privacy, even considered a vampires hearing ability, Zero let go.
"What do you want?"
"I want to know why, Kaname."
"I do not understand what exactly the matter is, hunter."
"That's exactly what I mean!" Zero hissed, turning to face Kaname. Right. Kaname's parents had just died...That's why people want to console him...Why he's living with Ichiou. How the hell did he not remember that a second ago?
"Why are you ignoring me? I've tried so many times to contact you! Why do you never pick up your cell? Why do you reject me when I come out here to the Ichiou estate to see you? I know you're going through a tough time but I miss them too! I'm sick of crying every time I hear your name because I don't know how you're doing, what you're feeling, what is wrong with us! And I want to be there for you! I-"
"Why would I care about how you feel about me, much less, why would I need or want your consolation?"
"Why? Because we are-"
"That doesn't matter anymore. Not to me. It shouldn't to you either. I do not wish to be so close to anything so breakable."
Zero frowned.
"'Breakable'? What do you mean?"
"My parents were one of the strongest purebloods out there. Yet they've just died like that. And now look at you. You're a mere human. All convictions aside, a pureblood hunter is still only a human with a little stronger blood. You could never defend yourself if it came down to it. The fact that you are a fully fledged hunter already doesn't change that. Playing with weapons doesn't make you stronger. You will die. Even easier than them. I can't stand weak things. You are no exception."
Feeling the tears slide down his cheek, Zero shook his head slowly, completely unable to comprehend Kaname's words. Not wanting to understand.
"But...But you love me..."
"I do no such thing."
The silver haired human threw himself desperately on Kaname, wrapping his arms around the taller males neck.
"Don't say such things!"
"Let go of me. You're a nuisance."
"Don't say things you might not be able to take back..."
"I am not a little boy Zero and you know it. I am way older than you, despite my looks. I know more than you ever will. I know quite well not to say anything I might regret. I know I will not regret breaking up and freeing myself from you. If anything, getting mated to you was the only mistake."
Zero wanted to protest but once again everything started to blur around him.
Amelie glared at Kaname as the minutes started to pass. By now she had left the bed and got into Zero's shirt, which she found over a chair, to cover her upper part. She thought it would be hot to watch from the third person instead of being part of the act. But she started to feel jealous. Zero's quiet but still quite audible sighs of pleasure when his skin was pierced, the way he was clinging to the other vampire, the way that pureblood was using his tongue to caress her boyfriends neck. It was too much.
"Stop that Kuran."
"She's right...you -" Takuma started but suddenly hit his back on the wall on the other side of the room and just tried to sit up wondering how Kaname did that since his leader seemed all focused on his ...meal? As soon as Takuma was close enough to observe his childhood friend again he frowned.
"Is he...smiling?" Amelie asked, seemingly having noticed as well.
"It looks like it..."
"But why? Is his blood that good?"
"Well Zero-rin is a pureblood but...that smile...he looks happy if anything...maybe Zero is having a good memory of them? After all I don't think Zero is hiding something right now."
"A good memory? I don't think so."
Takuma frowned and looked at her before catching the hidden meaning.
"Did you-"
"He's never been close to him, right?"
Not having any prove on his thesis, Takuma decided to drop his suspicions for the time being and concentrated on the still smiling Night Class president, wondering what he was smiling about.
Indeed Kaname was smiling about what he saw and tasted in Zero's blood as in fact the ex-human was remembering something quite pleasant.
Both, the hunter association president as well as the council of elders frowned upon what was happening right in front of their eyes but unable to forbid it as there was no law against it. Who knew it wasn't common knowledge and decency to not do something as ungraceful as...that.
Zero however just looked at Kaname happily though able to feel his cheeks heat up - a lot. He was now five years old...Finally old enough to get married with the consent of his parents in the hunter world. Of course he didn't care what normal humans would think.
In front of him was Kaname, in a very nice black little suit...he knew he himself was in a white, blue and lilac hued kimono - courtesy of his mother as well as Kaname's. Pouting at remembering his clothes he looked to his parents, who seemed to be just as happy as Kaname's parents - or Kaname and himself for that matter.
Both of his parents answered the marriage registrars question, whether they allow the marriage/mating of their son to the other pureblood, with a firm 'yes'. That was as much as they could get out anyways before being glomped by a crying Juuri. Haruka just sighed trying to tell his wife to calm down but failing horribly. Rolling his eyes in timing with his best friend because suddenly both women were bawling their eyes out because their 'cute little boys' finally were official, neither of the four adults heard the words that would end the ceremony. Neither did Zero. He wasn't too distracted by their parents but by Kaname. Kaname's happiness and pride about finally having Zero made the latter forget and ignore everything else, only being able to focus on the soft smile on the purebloods - no, on his purebloods lips. Zero only woke up once he felt said purebloods lips on his own and some ear shattering squealing from both female purebloods. Shyly but determined Zero kissed back, though feeling his cheeks get redder. But hey! He can't help it. It is their first kiss after all...and it was nice...it felt...right...He closed his eyes, deciding to just enjoy the moment. Their moment.
However when he opened his eyes he found himself deeply sad, looking out of a plane window feeling like his love was lost. No, not only his love. He's lost everything and everyone. Why was he being transferred to a foreign country anyway? Did he have such a huge X on his forehead just because his parents couldn't protect him anymore? Was Kaname right when he said that he was too breakable? Too weak? Well...Kaname probably was right. After all...he couldn't even protect his own brother, now could he? He became a full hunter at the age of 3...He fought so hard to grow up as fast as possible and had managed to do just that at an amazing speed, even for a pureblood...starting hunter training with only two years and finishing in one and half year. He didn't care about being the youngest hunter with finished education. The youngest hunter to have a hunting license. He just wanted to make up for his baby brothers part. Wanted to be good enough for both of them so they would never be separated. But that woman destroyed everything. She took it all away from him. Everything he had left after Kaname left him after the Kuran couple's deaths. If Zero would have had any tears left to shed, he probably would have started crying. But like that he just put on the safety belt again, hearing that the plane was landing.
He didn't even remember the passing faces or picking up his suitcase. But once he reached the area where people would wait for their family and friends he started to look around. Soon enough he saw a sign that had 'Kiryuu' written on it in Romanized letters. He walked up to the couple and noticed a blushing dark haired girl behind the man which was mustering him curiously.
The woman smiled warmly at him.
"Bist du Zero Kiryuu?" (Are you Zero Kiryuu?) she asked and pointed at him while saying his name.
Not understanding even an ounce German but not being a complete idiot, Zero nodded.
"Yes."
"Willkommen! Ich bin Lisa und das ist Frank" (Welcome! I'm Lisa and that's Frank) she said pointing at herself while saying her own name and at her husband at the mentioning of his name.
Then she looked behind her husband at the little girl.
"Komm schon kleine. Sei nicht unhöflich, stell dich vor. Zero soll sich doch zuhause fühlen." (Come on little on, don't be impolite. Introduce yourself. Zero's supposed to feel at home after all.)
Zero frowned not liking not understanding a word except for his name. His face however eased up a little as the girl came around her father to face him properly and waved shyly.
"H-Hallo...Ich...bin Amelie." (H-hello...I...am Amelie)
Zero decided that it was probably weird for her too, to suddenly live with a strange boy. An ex-human no less. He wondered why a hunter family would take him in anyway.
He bowed.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Kiryuu Zero."
The girl blinked confused.
"Kir-..."
"Kiryuu" Zero repeated.
"Ich dachte dein Name ist Zero?" (I thought your name was Zero)
He was about to introduce himself confused again before remembering the woman...Lisa's(?) question before. She said 'Zero Kiryuu'...didn't she? Guessing that that's what got the girl confused and remembering Kaname telling him once that in Europe people often addressed each other by their given name if they were close and that they use to switch first and last name he bowed in apology.
"Zero."
Now the girl seemed even more confused which caused the man to laugh.
"In Japan sagt man zuerst den Nachnamen. Zero ist sein Vorname." (In Japan you say your last name first. Zero is his given name)
"Warum machen die das?" (Why do they do that?)
To that neither of the three had an answer and just shrugged helplessy.
"Ist es wahr, dass du ein richtiger Hunter bist?" (Is it true that you're a real hunter?) Amelie asked nervously.
"I'm a hunter."
Understanding a minimum of Japanese Frank nodded to his daughter.
"Er sagt ja." (He says yes)
"So cool." the girl squealed.
She was about the same age as him, that much she knew. How could a seven year old boy be a full hunter? She only entered the hunter school last year. And everyone was her age too! Japanese people sure are something different. Or was it because he was a pureblood? Anyway, he was really cute but he seemed so lost and sad that Amelie discarded her shyness and hugged Zero tightly.
"Willkommen!" (Welcome)
Zero tensed for a second, not being used to random people hugging him but figured that maybe German people were ...more ...touchy, so he hesistantly hugged back. Somehow he felt that...that girl didn't feel too bad in his arms. She was ...warm. And she felt honest. Water approved of her.
"Thank you..."
Zero looked around. Everything was different here. The language, the writing, the way people look...even the air felt different. When he looked back, he saw the three...But they were older. By now the young girl looked way more like...well...a girl...she hadn't developed all the way yet but she clearly had a waist by now and her chest was a little more uneven than when he first saw her.
Well it wasn't a surprise since they were eleven by now...
Once again Zero was hugged tightly by the girl.
"Ich will nicht, dass du gehst! Du gehörst hier hin!" (I don't want you to leave! You belong here!)
He caressed her hair gently.
"Ich komme zu besuch. Versprochen. Aber ich bin nun einmal Japaner. Ich will nachhause. Und du darfst mich natürlich jederzeit besuchen kommen." (I'll come to visit. Promise. But I'm Japanese after all. I want to go home. And of course you can visit me anytime)
"Bis dahin hast du bestimmt ein hübsches Mädchen kennen gelernt und mich vergessen!" (Until then you probably will have met a beautiful girl and forgot about me) she cried, burying her face into his neck.
Zero stepped away from her enough to raise her hand shaking her arm, making a wristband swing a little.
"Ich könnte dich nie vergessen. Und solange wir unsere Armbänder haben kann ich das auch gar nicht." (I could never forget about you. And as long as we'll have our wristbands I couldn't do that anyway)
Sniffing the girl nodded, though was still clearly unpleased but was now pulled away gently by her mother.
"Mach es Zero nicht noch schwerer." (Don't make it even more difficult for Zero)
Zero hugged Amelie, Lisa and then Frank.
"Danke für alles." (Thanks for everything)
"Du bist wie ein Sohn für uns...Du weißt dass du immer zurück kannst?!" (You're like a son to us...you know that you can return anytime?!) Lisa said, unable to hide some tears in her eyes.
Zero nodded.
Not being quite as soft as his ladies but still being sad about Zero leaving, Frank coughed to catch his 'foster sons' ...and possible son in law(?)'s attention.
"Wir sind stolz auf dich. Du bist ein guter Junge geworden. Und du sprichst akzentfrei" (We are proud of you. You turned out a fine boy. And you speak without accent) Frank said, chuckling at the last part, remembering Zero's first attempts at the German language, making Zero blush since he knew exactly what the man was referring to.
Both adults hugged Zero once more before leaving to the car to give the two almost teenagers some privacy. After all, they've been young once too.
As soon as her parents were out of sight Amelie's demeanor changed drastically. The sad girl suddenly looked very calculating making Zero take a step back in surprise. She quickly schooled her features but both pre-teens new the damage was done.
"Umarm mich ein letztes mal." (Give me a last hug)
Not really feeling like trusting her, but not really able to deny the girl that kind of became his little sister, Zero did as he was told.
"Es tut mir leid Zero. Ich hoffe du wirst mir eines Tages verzeihen...Nein...Ich hoffe du wirst nie wissen dass es etwas zu verzeihen gibt. Aber es ist besser wenn du ihn vergisst. Er hat dir zu viel Schmerz bereitet. Zu viel Kummer. Ich weiß, dass es Liebe nicht ohne Schmerz gibt...Trotzdem ist es Zeit ...Zeit dass du frei wirst. Frei für mich." (I'm sorry Zero. I hope you'll forgive me someday...No...I hope you'll never know that there's something to forgive. It's for the best if you forget him though. He's caused you too much pain. Too much sorrow. I know there isn't love without pain...Still it's time...time for you to become free. Free for me.)
Before Zero could understand who she was talking about, though of course deep down knowing she had Kaname in mind and able to comprehend what she was planning and pushing her away he felt her hands on either side of his head, said hands warming up rapidly. It was too late. Zero couldn't push her away anymore and he only saw white light.
Slowly Zero opened his eyes feeling a comfortable weight on top of him but feeling incredibly dizzy and something else he couldn't quite put his finger on. Something that was building...deep inside of him. Something that was tugging him to the vampire currently on top of him and ...well...inside him. He felt Kaname slowly retract his fangs and licking the wound close.
Amelie pulled Kaname off angrily cursing and yelling at him in German, not even noticing her language switch. Not that it would have mattered anyway, seeing how the yelled at male only looked at Zero, seeming to be in his own world.
Zero on the other hand tried to sit up with the support of the blond noble.
Upon watching the hunter accept his best friends help so easily, Kaname remembered what he just saw in Zero's blood: His mate and Takuma being rather close. He didn't like it. Why had neither male ever mentioned it, their friendship that is? However his thoughts were interrupted as he saw the blond hugging the silver haired ex-human tightly and whispering things into the latters ear.
Noticing the shift in aura around the pureblood, Amelie shut up and looked to the pair on the bed.
"They are very close indeed. It's all thanks to you."
"Why did you do it?" Kaname asked calmly, ignoring her statement as well as the soft pang in his heart at those words.
"Do what?"
"I saw it in his blood. Don't try to play innocent."
"I don't know what you are talking about. But if you saw anything, you should have looked for the answer to your question."
"Because I 'caused him too much sorrow'. Because you were jealous."
Now Amelie looked dumbfounded.
"You understand- "
"Yes, I do. I'm pretty old...You get bored. Languages are a nice way to kill time. Especially if your mate left off into another country."
Said mate looked up at Kaname.
"Just...Who are you to me?"
"Your mate. You saw it yourself, didn't you?!"
"Were we mates?"
"No. We broke up. We never got divorced though."
Frowning Zero nodded.
"I see."
"Du wirst das so bald wie möglich nachholen, richtig?" (You'll catch up on that as soon as possible, right?) Amelie asked pissed off at the pureblood telling Zero that.
"Don't do it." Kaname hissed.
"Why would I want to be married to you, Kuran? You don't seem to want me and I certainly don't want you."
"You know our parents tried to fight for co-existance so hard. Do you wish their progress go to vain? Our marriage is a huge step for that."
"Are we public?"
"Not yet. I wanted you to remember first."
"No need to get public now. Zero is with me now" Amelie glared.
Takuma looked from Zero's mate to girlfriend and back.
"Eh...Why don't we just call it a night? I bet that both Zero-rin and Amelie are rather tired and Zero has lessons soon enough. Give him a few hours more sleep" Takuma tried to soothe out the situation but flinched at Kanames lethal aura as Takuma called Zero 'Zero-rin'.
"Fine. Good night...Zero. Kremer-san" Kaname said before leaning in and demonstratively stealing the hunters lips in a quick peck before swiftly leaving the room, though not missing the small blush on his little mate.
Takuma couldn't help but chuckle, feeling a little relieved. He hasn't seen Kaname that playful since his parents deaths and it felt like things between Kaname and Zero finally moved into the right direction. He did feel bad for Amelie though and felt himself being torn not knowing which one should win the hunters heart. He quickly hugged both hunters before rushing after the Level A.
"Got yourself enough yaoi for one night?" Zero asked a little annoyed though not knowing why. Sure, he knew - and felt - that he had a blood bond with Kuran now, which was clearly showing how angry yet amused his bond sharer was at the moment, which pissed Zero off quite a lot but except for that...whatever, he probably was just tired.
Amelie snorted.
"More than enough."
Checking the clock on the wall Zero sighed.
"It's late. I only have three hours left and not enough blood left to...do that anyway...bother sleeping?" he asked lying down and opening his arms in invitation making his girlfriend jump into his arms happily. Pulling the covers over them, he bid her good night and held her close to himself.
Yes, that's how it should be. A boy and girl...the girl he loved...Didn't he? Forcing himself to shake off the little voice that was nagging at him that his memory may still be true - at least in the part that was about his feelings for a certain pureblood, he closed his eyes trying to fall asleep.
The last thing he heard was a pouting females voice.
"Don't do yaoi-stuff with Kuran. You two don't look hot together at all."
Zero just managed to snort with a little smile before sleep embraced him.
