Chapter 6: It's something true (Pt.1)
If Zero should name the situation he was currently in, it would most likely be 'awkward'. He was forced into dinner at Cross' house. With Yuuki. And Kuran. And Amelie. Like it wasn't horrible enough to have to admit to Yuuki that he kept the secret of having a girlfriend, he had to explain himself to said girlfriend too for having kept her a secret. Having two girls up against you was a pain in the ass. Having them discuss you and your sex life at dinner with your self-proclaimed "father" and enemy-mate-thing present was even more hell on earth. The only thing that still could go wrong was Kuran breaking news about their so called being married and about their blood bond. Oh god, Zero was praying to any god, presence or whatever, that Kuran would just keep that fucking mouth of his shut. However the more time passed, the more Zero could feel Kaname's mood dropping.
But why? It wasn't like Kuran had actual feelings for him. Was it just some sort of misplaced possessiveness? And what was that weird voice at the back of his mind that kept calling out to him? Oh wait...That was his girlfriend.
"Sorry...I was thinking about something. What did you say?" Zero asked looking at his by now slightly annoyed girlfriend.
"I was asking if you could get dessert. Well actually Cross-san did. Then Yuuki-chan. Even Kuran-san asked you. Must have been one hell of a subject to think about."
"Sorry, sure I'll get it." Zero apologized while quickly collecting the empty plates. Feeling that Amelie was still hella pissed off and Kuran glancing at them, he kissed Amelie before leaving the room. Killed two birds with one stone. Or at least that's what Zero thought because before even entering the kitchen he heard Kaname excusing himself for the sake of helping Zero. Adding to his streak of bad luck he didn't have much time to flee between putting down the plates and a highly not amused pureblood pressing up against him, hands on the counter in front of the hunter, successfully capturing him. Trying not to rise to the bait Zero just waited.
"Stop it, Zero."
"You are the one pinning someone randomly and - might I add - against their will."
"Break up with her already. You are mine."
"Like hell-" before Zero could finish his sentence he was forcefully turned and kissed by the older male. Zero felt utterly torn. He was disgusted by that monster - that male monster to boost - kissing him...But at the same time it was nearly impossible to find the strength to push Kuran away. So at the end he just didn't move at all. Too bad Kuran decided that's as much an invitation as needed, bit Zero's lower lip gently and used the surprised gasp to slide his tongue into the younger's mouth. Despite Kuran enjoying his time, messing with his little hunter, he pulled away reluctantly hearing steps approaching.
"We should continue this soon, wouldn't you agree, Zero?" he asked smirking seductively while leaving the room with the plates and forks for the cake leaving a confused hunter behind. Said hunter simply took the cake and smiled at Amelie who came to check up on her boyfriend.
"You okay?"
"Yeah sure. Sorry, Kuran wanted to ask the same because I was so distant."
"Why would he care?" Amelie asked raising an eyebrow.
"Why would I know?! That guy's all 'I love Yuuki and I care for her and if you're not well, my lady is not'...blah." Grabbing what Kuran had left behind he went back to the living room, hoping to be left alone by Amelie. Okay, let's face it. Zero hasn't been an angel for most of his life. But did he really deserve this?
Yuuki grinned at Amelie.
"So? How did you guys meet? How did you get together? How long have you been together?"
Zero snorted.
"Shouldn't you have asked that before wondering how good I am in bed?"
Cross giggled.
"I can see how that was more interesting though."
"Pedo."
"I have to agree with Zero, Cross. How would his bed activities be of any matter to anyone but him and whoever he shares those activities with?"
"Amelie, Kuran. My name is Amelie" a very annoyed girl hissed.
"I know your name Kremer-san. Keeping it vague is my way of implying that his partner may change soon."
Cross and Yuuki looked flabbergasted.
"Is my baby son cheating on Amelie-chan?!"
"No headmaster...Kaname-senpai is implying Zero will leave Amelie. Why would he do that?"
Amelie rose an eyebrow looking at both guys.
"Yah, why would he do that?"
"Have you forgotten last night?"
"Kuran" Zero hissed dangerously.
Feeling both hunters, as well as the pureblood prince shoot daggers at each other Cross decided to draw the line.
"It's gotten pretty late, don't you think?" he asked carefully – which proved to be a bad move, as it suddenly drew Zero's attention onto his 'foster father'.
"You..."
"Yes, dear?"
"You knew!" Zero nearly screamed at the ex-hunter and stormed out of the housed feeling horribly betrayed.
"Am I the only one not knowing anything?!" Yuuki moaned annoyed.
"Don't worry dear, I have no idea what Zero-kun might be talking about."
Amelie looked at the spot Zero sat a second ago before watching the headmaster closely.
"What did Zero mean? What do you know?"
Kaname smiled at Yuuki.
"How about you bring the dishes into the kitchen?"
Yuuki sulked but did as she was told. As soon as she had left Cross sighed and took his glasses off, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"What happened last night?" he asked in a voice betraying his usual cheerful obliviousness and shot the two teenagers a sharp glance.
"Kuran bit Zero. Zero remembers something but doesn't know what." Amelie stated.
Kaname sighed.
"To be a little more precise – he remembers that we are married but not a couple. He knows that we got along well. However even I do not seem to know everything. For example how Takuma and Zero are involved with each other."
Cross nodded knowingly.
"So basically you biting him triggered some memories but the all together image is still missing?"
Kaname nodded in affirmation.
"Yes. But except for only our shared past he also remembered parts and bits of his past with Kremer-san. Of course I can only guess from what I saw and how Zero behaved after returning to Japan but my guess is that she took his memories in order to win his heart."
"That's bullshit Kuran."
"Well...Isn't this getting interesting. What are you planning on doing now, Kaname?"
"I will win him back. Because of last night's bite, we already have a blood bond. I can feel that he does care about me. It is just a matter of time that he'll come back to me. Back home."
"Aren't you with Yuuki-chan?" Amelie glared.
"Yuuki does indeed harbor romantic feelings for me and it is true that we have dated. However I broke up with her before you came."
"So you leave someone who loves you to steal someone else's partner? That's low Kuran."
"She fully supported my decision saying that she might have noticed feelings for someone else. Either way this is none of your business. About Zero – I can only steal him if he lets me steal him. Unlike you I won't mess with his memory. I could have done so ages ago."
"You broke up with him! He's mine already!" the female hunter shouted out before leaving pissed off.
Only half way back to Zero's room did she notice that Cross never answered her question about how much he actually knew. Sighing and shaking her head she continued the way to the sun dorms. Back in Zero's room the female hunter switched into her sport clothes.
"Going for a run?" the male asked his girlfriend, looking up from his homework.
"Sparring. With you. Get ready."
Having absolutely no spirit but knowing that after that dinner he needed to make up big time, the silver haired boy got up sighing and did as he was told. However he'd be damned if only that girl got her will.
"Fine. If I win you will answer a few questions."
Amelie frowned but nodded, following her boyfriend to the night class gym.
"Deal. Why are we here? Isn't this part of the vampire dorm?"
"It is. Obviously our gyms are closed at this time. Any preferences?"
_
"So? What'cha wanna know?" Amelie asked lying down, using Zero's chest as pillow.
Absent minded the other hunter played with the long dark tresses which know were spread over his chest and belly.
"How did we get together when I was in love with Kuran?"
"You really aren't holding back, huh? Well to put simple – you weren't in love with him anymore. At least that's what I think. You do remember when we got together right?"
"I do. But it just doesn't add up. Fine then...What did you whisper that day at the airport? What did you do to me?"
"I didn't do anything to you...Don't just go and blame your memory loss on me. I told you that I love you."
Zero flinched at the lie he was fed. Of course she didn't know what exactly he remembered. Which made it worse, didn't it? Why would she lie to him? Now Zero was pretty sure that he was right. His own girlfriend had stolen his memories. Though – could he still call her that? His girlfriend? He didn't even know whether they'd be together if not for her tempering with his memory. The most disturbing part however was that he felt backstabbed because Kuran had never mentioned anything. No, not only because Kuran hadn't. Especially him, but not only him. No. What hurt Zero most was that no one felt the need to tell him anything at all.
"Baby? Are you alright?"
Zero started up a little, having heard the question directed at him the same second his bond to Kuran started tingling.
"Yes, of course dear. How about you go take a shower?"
"What about you? I was looking forward a joined shower" Amelie said seductively and turned a little to kiss Zero's chest before continuing.
"I mean we could -" Much to Amelie's disappointment she was interrupted by a voice that she already came to dislike.
"I'd like to have a word with Zero."
"Back off Kuran. He's mine" she said, sitting up.
Zero helped his girlfriend up after rising first, his eyes never leaving the pureblood.
"What do you want."
"My mate back where he belongs. By my side. Yet I know that this will take a bit more time. So for the time being I will be satisfied with a talk alone with my mate" Kaname said in his usual calm demeanor but his eyes betrayed the jealousy he was trying to hold back. As annoying as it was, Zero wouldn't have needed to look at the leech though as their special connection clearly showed how pissed Kuran was at having his mate's lover (?) keep him from his mate.
"Actually I wanted to go up to Kuran-senpai's room anyway" Zero said, trying to ignore the hint of a smug grin that played along the corners of Kaname's mouth, as well as the dirty glare he received from Amelie.
"You are not leaving me for him."
"Don't make it sound like I'm breaking up. I have things to discuss with him. Vampire stuff."
Now Amelie looked down guilty.
"Fine. But I don't want you to feed off him, so take your share."
Sighing because he knew exactly that he'd never get rid of her until he gave in, Zero leaned down to her neck, gently preparing the skin beneath his mouth.
When did biting her become a core? He had looked forward feeding from Kuran for a while, he knew that much. Still he had written it off as falling deeper into vampirism. Wouldn't that mean he'd look forward biting her too? So why did he feel like she forced him into it?
Ignoring Kuran's growing indignation towards the scene displayed, Zero slowly let his fangs sink into the delicate neck his mistress – eh, his girlfriend offered him and sucked gently.
He nearly groaned as he felt the same nausea kicking in that he felt already when Kuran bit him the previous night. This time being prepared, Zero let himself be sucked into the memories Amelie was offering.
- Flashback -
Zero fell to one knee, holding his bleeding arm. Albeit not fighting back, the two guys and three girls looked absolutely ready to kill him. The oldest looking guy was the one who had just shot him. Still, Zero did not plan on fighting back. Why should he? Even in his eyes they were right to shoot him. Someone who would soon end up on a hunter list anyway. By no means did Zero consider this being treated unfairly or would have labeled it as bullying. So why bother fighting back when deep down he actually supported them? Much to the hunter groups disapproval. Being the idiots they were they would just keep sneering at him, making stupid but hurtful comments and tried to make Zero flee or fight back – probably preferably the last option so they could honestly claim to have acted in mere self-defense. The young ex-human however did not plan to play into their hands that way. He might have a slightly suicidal way of thinking and he might agree that he needed to die. Still he couldn't stand those hunters. Those kids were spoiled bastards in his class who bullied everyone and everything possible. They would still be asses towards him if he were still human. If you were better than them you were buying your grades, either with money or with your body even. If you were worse than them you were worthless shit. No. Zero wouldn't give them the pleasure of fighting back. So he just closed his eyes and waited as all five of them rose their weapons. He winced as he heard the shots but surprisingly enough he didn't feel any pain. Upon opening his eyes he saw and in the last second caught the dropping reason for his lack of pain and death.
"Amelie?!"
Said girl just sat up.
"Hell...they might not kill me but they hurt like hell. These bullets I mean. They're worse than paintball."
Zero just looked stupidly at his 'sister'.
"Why did you do that?" he asked and hissed at a hard smack at the back of his head. Yup, definitely his little sister.
"Don't ask stupid shit."
Looking up at the group she added,
"Pretty stupid doing this in a house full of security cameras. I have already sent a copy to the association." Amelie turned and started treating Zero's arm once everyone had run off. Let their parent's deal with those brats.
"You need to actually fight back. They nearly killed you. This isn't a joke anymore."
Instead of replying, Zero just left the room, leaving a sighing girl behind.
- End Flashback -
Zero slowly withdrew his fangs and licked the wound close as good as possible. Without any indication that he saw anything at all he gave her a quick kiss.
"See ya in my room babe."
Amelie nodded as she watched the two vampires walk off.
As Zero had already expected they went up to Kuran's room. He watched the pureblood sit down on his couch and seemed to expect for Zero to do so as well. However the hunter had no intention of just being pushed around. At least not until he was gently dragged on the couch by a hand on his wrist. Once he was seated, he felt the hand slide from his wrist to his hand, gently caressing it with his thumb. He looked kind of mesmerized at how graceful Kuran even looked while freaking caressing him. Not to mention that their hands looked good together. Sort of. Scratch that. That sounded girly and Zero was not.
"So, Zero? You mentioned that you had wanted to talk to me as well. What did you want to talk about?"
- TBC -
Okay...I'M SO FUCKING SORRY ...I felt guilty for not starting (as planned) on my break in april...and I swear I started when I was on my trip in sweden...but I had handwritten stuff there and it took me about 2 months (wrote shit in august and typed it down around october ^^") ...and then again I got smashed with university and now I realized I nearly didn't update for a year and I decided to just come to a point where I could split the chapter, since I had planned too much anyway and typed myself there...And I think this is a good point to let you hang. ...Hopefully not again for 12 month...In fact I'll TRY to update before new years. Let's see how wrong that goes XD If anyone who followed this story is still gonna read this...thanks so much T_T
