It's something true (Pt. 2)
"You first senpai. Why did you come to fetch me?" Zero asked, pulling his hand away from the brunettes touch.
"To be honest I do not have a reason for calling you. I simply felt both of you downstairs and felt the wish to get you away from her, even if it should be just for a minute."
"I see."
"So? What is it you wanted to talk about?"
"I need answers Kuran."
"Kaname."
"What?"
"My name. I want you to switch to my given name. Is it that difficult?" Kaname asked looking like he was trying to not look as bothered as he felt, making the younger chuckle.
"If you want to hide your emotions get rid of that bond before working on your facial expression."
The vampire pureblood frowned for being talked to like a child but eventually chuckled as well.
"You do have a point I guess. So thank you for your advice but I am quite fond of our connection."
"At least one of us, huh?"
Kaname sighed, choosing to ignore that side blow.
"What kind of answers?"
Zero sat back, thinking about it for a moment. What was it exactly that he needed to know? And why would he come to Kuran of all persons to get answers? Well maybe, just maybe, because he was married to that guy.
"I think telling me about our past would help."
"I am afraid you will need to be more concrete in your questions."
"Okay, look. This was a huge mistake. I'm leaving."
Zero got up to do exactly that, favorably slamming the door for good measure to prove his point but as soon as he turned his back on Kaname he tensed up. Was that leech seriously...hugging him?
"Take. Your. Hands. Off. Me."
"I like having you in my embrace" was the only answer the other male got.
"Kuran."
"Kaname."
"Stop correcting me. I won't call you ...that."
"We will see."
"Right. Let go."
"No. Spend the night here."
"WHAT?"
Knowing that his husband was too shocked to leave for the moment, the pureblood let go of his mate and sat down. Watching Zero's every move, he waited patiently until the hunter turned to face him.
"When I came in you did not look comfortable at all. Not with her using you as a pillow, not with the answers she gave you and certainly not with forcing you to feed. If anything at all you look more than just slightly aggravated — which may not be much difference from your usual expression — but given the circumstance that she is your supposedly girlfriend, one might guess that something about her is bothering you. Most likely the fact that she is obviously feeding you lies. For example regarding the loss of your memories. On the other hand I very much admit that I made the mistake of letting you go. Yet I am willing to explain as much as I can if you just say the word. Additionally you would be alone if you decided to spend the night in my room. It is night, Zero. I am here only on my break right now, as you should now. In less than fifteen minutes I have to be back in class for at least another full three hours. After that I still have dinner and most likely things to discuss with the Night Class members and then some paper work. You would be alone in the bedroom the whole time, unless you wish differently" Kaname finished with a slight glint in his eyes.
Despite Zero knowing very well that he should not jump on Kuran like everyone else would, should not drink from his lips and believe everything the other male says without thinking about it, the hunter had to admit the vampire's sounded tempting. Very, very tempting in fact. Thinking about the offer for a moment, he eventually shook his head.
"Be that is as it may, I can't take your offer."
"Why?"
"For one, I shouldn't be sleeping in someone else's room, knowing they want me, when I'm in a relationship."
"And the other reason?"
"That would be that I can't sleep in a house full of vampires."
"You 'can't'? Or you do not wish to?" the pureblood asked, making the hunter sigh annoyed. Partly at being found out.
"Maybe a bit of both, okay? Fact is, being a….you know what is only my second nature. I'm still a hunter in the first place. You guys register in my mind. I get a headache being close to too many vampires. There's no way I can lie down and nap being surrounded by them, even if it's just the same building. There's 'medicine' I could take but which hunter with an ounce of pride left in them would actually sleep in a vampire house while having his senses turned off. Why not just put a shield on me saying "please eat me"?"
Standing up, Kaname went through his hair before gently sitting Zero on the couch.
"Think about it. I'll order the others not to get close to my room. They will not dare disobey. Luckily not everyone is as defiant as you" he said chuckling and silently relishing in the little, cocky smile that brightened up Zero's face, no matter how small. Tucking away the image of a smiling Zero, Kaname decided to be bold and kissed Zero's cheek before leaving the room.
Watching the purebloods back retreat, the hunter looked around the other's room, considering the invitation once more. No matter how much he would love to say the purebastard was wrong, he couldn't. He did feel uncomfortable being with Amelie the way things were at the moment. He couldn't even deny that he felt more at peace in Kuran's room. Though he'd die before admitting something like that verbally. Wait. Did that bastard kiss him on the cheek? Just before chasing after that sucker Zero calmed down. Took him long enough to realize anyway. Plus, he had other, more pressing matters to take care of. Should he really rely on Kuran? It would be treating Amelie terribly wrong. It would be opening the door for the vampire. It would be unheard of. It would be weird. It would be thousand of things but none of them was 'right'. Yet Zero couldn't bring himself to think it would be wrong either. After all, they were married. He did have a good relationship to the other male once, regardless of how long ago that has been. If Zero was honest to himself for just a second, and he weirdly enough felt like that was necessary right now, then he would recognize that the things he started to remember felt good, right even. Considering all that, was it really so wrong to take Kuran's hand? Just for tonight? No, it would not be wrong. At least not on his mind and that was the only one he cared about at the moment. He never gave a damn about what society thought of him. The only persons mattering to him where Kaitou, Amelie and Yagari. None of them has been too honest with him lately it seems so fuck them and just sleep. Yeah, sleep sounded fucking good. The day has been exhausting enough as it was.
Deciding that he couldn't sleep in someone else's bed smelling of training, Zero decided to take a shower before going to bed. On his way to the purebloods bath however, he realized that he didn't have spare clothes in this room. Just great. So maybe he should go back to his room after all? But he definitely didn't want to, no matter how childish his way of thinking was. Eying the purebloods dresser, the hunter wondered which size he pureblood is wearing. They did look about the same height so maybe he could borrow something? With this in mind, Zero opened the others dresser and rolled his eyes. Suits….Suits…Night Class uniforms….Suits….Did he mention suits? Did that guy actually know what jeans or sweatpants are? Checking out the suits, Zero felt the urge to roll his eyes nonstop. Of course that prissy pansy didn't believe in wearing anything but high class brands either. Not even when it came to his underwear. Shaking his head, the ex-human decided he really needed that divorce. If not for their personality crash than certainly for the fact he couldn't be married to a princess. Putting back the others boxers, Zero realized startled what he was doing. Checking out the purebloods clothes — to where them to boot! Hell to the no. There was no way he could wear his clothes. Before the Level D could consider going back yet again, he noticed that there were a lot of clothes that still had their labels on it on one side. They were still stylish but a little different from the rest of the clothes. Checking them out he realized that would be exactly what he himself would wear on formal occasions. Were those clothes for him? Did the pureblood plan on bringing him here sooner or later? Finding a set of still wrapped up boxers that seemed his size just fine he decided to just go ahead and borrow them. He could always just buy the same set and return it. Opening the package and taking the boxers out Zero really wondered what he was doing. It was almost as if he was accepting this marriage. Not like he had a choice. He was young, but he looked like he wanted nothing more than to marry that guy. Even now, a part of him had weirdly enough calmed upon deciding to stay here. If he were completely honest the pureblood usually didn't even register as a threat in his senses. Part of him thought that was just his being defect and needing to see a "vampire-sense-repair service" of some sort but maybe it was that he simply grew up with the other and learned to accept him?
Sighing and rubbing his head the hunter entered the bathroom and undressed. Enough confusion and thinking for today. No headaches allowed. Upon feeling the hot water fall down on him, he visibly relaxed. Damn, not only he himself calmed once he decided to stay, he could feel the same reaction, along with a slight happiness vibrate through that weird bond he had to the older male.
Zero awoke to the feeling of anger bubbling through his blood bond. Sitting up in the super comfortable bed he looked out of the window to see that it was still dark but bordering a fast approaching sunrise. Stretching himself he looked around. No Kuran. No sign that he had entered the bedroom, just like promised. Yet Zero could clearly feel the other vampire in the room next to him. Damn vampires getting their own bath. Damn pureblood actually having a workroom and a bedroom. Huffing in a nearly adorably sulky way, the hunter got up and into his pants from last night. That's when he heard the voices. Kuran's and Amelie's to be exact. Great way to wake up. Deciding that it was unfair to let Kuran fight her alone —when for fucks sake did he start caring whether the pureblood was in an unfair situation or not? — he stepped out of their…eh…Kuran's bedroom.
"Good morning, Zero" Kaname greeted him, having noticed him first. Probably he had realized that Zero woke up through their bond, just like he did the other day. Nodding to the pureblood in acknowledgement, the hunter yawned and stretched once more, trying his best to ignore that both fighting idiots stopped their war to appreciate his form.
"Wanna take a picture? It'll last longer" he said, raising an eyebrow.
"Why the fuck are you here? In that state?"
"I slept."
"Rather like fucked."
"I slept."
"Stop feeding me lies. Like you'd stay here all night to sleep."
"Amelie. Two choices. Either you believe me or not. Look. Let me be blunt about something. You are dear to me. Very much so. Dear enough that I considered making you my wife. However I just realize how many lies you feed me. Which hurts. A lot. Which makes me angry. Which makes me doubt you and my feelings for you. I have never lied to you. If I had fucked him I'd let you know. I'd apologize. I would know I did something wrong but I didn't. Kaname merely saw that I was tired and needed a moment to myself so he borrowed me his bed while being in class. Trust me or don't. Just remember that just because you lie it doesn't make everyone else a liar too."
Just before Amelie's hand could meet with Zero's cheek, Kaname caught the female hunter's wrist.
"He is right. Just as I told you. I have been here working. This is my room after all. You think that I want my mate back and you are right about that. I have stated my intentions before. I have also told you I'd openly go after him now. Nonetheless I know that the decision is his to make at the end of the day. I am fighting for him, hence the offer to sleep here. Jumping him and trying to bed him or to feed from him however would just make him run from me. I am no fool, Kremer-san. I basically live with him, am married to him. I know how far I can go before he snaps and bites. Also, everything Zero just said was either the truth or how he felt. None of the content of his words gives you a reason to become violent right now."
"Shut up! This is none of your business, vampire!" Amelie yelled at the pureblood, pulling her hand back.
"You are in my room, accusing my husband of cheating on you. I daresay this is very much my business. Please leave."
"Let's go, Z."
Surprising both, his girlfriend and the pureblood, Zero shook his head.
"If Kaname allows I will go back to bed."
Looking equally shocked both his self-proclaimed lovers eyed him. The dark haired male was the first to catch himself.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"You are not gonna stay with that bastard."
"I will, should he allow" Zero said with determination and looked at his mate.
"Of course you can. To be honest I am pretty tired though."
"Can we share a bed without you trying anything?"
Kaname frowned.
"Of course we can. I'm neither a rapist nor am I that desperate."
"Then I don't see a problem" the hunter said, and gave his girlfriend a last meaningful look before returning to the bedroom.
Soon enough he heard Amelie run off pissed to hell and back and heard Kaname enter the room and undress.
"I'm sorry Kuran-senpai."
"Don't ruin my victory by addressing me like this again."
"You know why I called you by your given name."
"I asked you to not ruin it."
"Whatever. Stop smiling."
"My back is towards you."
"I can almost hear it!"
"I am not going to apologize. Even if you may think differently about this, I am enjoying returning to a room where you are. Having you here. Having friendly small talk with you. Not feeling the same hate directed to me that you usually love to offer. What is it you were apologizing for?" Kaname asked, joining the hunter in bed.
Zero watched the pureblood closely while he did so, being stuck by what the elder one just said and fighting the voice inside him that actually agreed with the pureblood. Nope. He wasn't ready to say things like that yet and it was just a tad weird, creepy and disgusting that he was thinking that this might change.
"I was apologizing for …well….You know how I was all sweaty last night? I wanted a shower and since it wouldn't have made sense to get into the old clothes again I looked through your dresser and borrowed some boxers. So I'm saying sorry for going through your stuff and taking something without permission I guess. I will compensate for them of course."
"No need to. I already noticed you were wearing them. Those new things are actually meant for you."
"Never thought it was that easy to read you."
"Excuse me?"
"Well I had figured out something like that. I wasn't sure of course and it's basically still wrong to take anything out of someone else's dresser without permission , so I thought that saying sorry was still necessary. Really though. You have clothes for me? Of which you couldn't be sure I'd ever even know they existed? I know you are rich but that's simply a completely stupid waste of money."
"Yet you are wearing them."
"….Touché."
Getting under the blanket Kaname looked at Zero feeling much more content than he would admit.
"Are you hungry?"
Zero frowned.
"Are you trying to start something or are you concerned?"
"Concerned in the first place."
Too bad Zero didn't miss the implication. Weirdly enough he didn't mind it too much but in fact was rather amused. Could it actually be that he and Kuran could get along just fine if given the chance? All the same it wasn't the right moment to think about that.
"No, I am not. Good night, senpai."
"Would you please stop that?"
"I dropped the last name."
"I noticed."
"Then appreciate some more."
"You sound cute when you are sulking."
"Fuck you."
"Good night to you too, Zero."
"Hn."
Kaname smiled warmly, watching the hunter turn away from him and curl up. The born vampire could have sworn he even saw some sulking clouds over the hunters head. Maybe there was a bit of the old Zero under the thick layers of hate and distrust after all, which made Kaname incredibly happy. Too happy. Deciding to test his luck he shifted to be closer to Zero and wrapped an arm loosely around the younger male. Feeling said male tense up he regretted his actions instantly and pulled back.
"I'm sorry."
"…..No…..It's fine, I was just surprised."
"Do you mean it's okay for me to hold you?"
"Shut up."
Knowing that was as much an invitation as he would probably get the pureblood just went back to holding his little hunter and closed his eyes.
"Senpai…?"
"Yes?"
"…Will we…..No, never mind that."
"What is it?"
"Nothing."
"You wanted to ask something. Don't burden yourself by keeping it."
"I just realized I haven't figured out what exactly I wanted to ask. Anyway….will you tell me tomorrow?"
"Tell you about what?"
"…..Us."
This time it was Kaname who tensed.
"As much as I can at this point. Please be patient with me, Zero."
After a few minutes of not receiving a response, Kaname felt Zero relax more and heard the other's breathing even out. Figuring he fell asleep, Kaname decided to follow his mate into dream land.
TBC
So…..updating before 2016 didn't work out as planned but I guess December - March is much better than a full year again T_T While at the beginning I felt like this was just a filler chapter I sorta wanted to write because I wanted Zero sleeping there it ended up being a pretty important step towards them getting closer. It just got deeper and more important by itself. Not that I complain. And it's still pretty sweet.
I hope you guys enjoyed and would love to read your opinion :3
See you next chapter!
