Sorry about the delay in this chapter. My ship is in the yards and because of work being hectic when I get off work I mostly want to eat dinner, relax, and then sleep. Also my husband moved to Japan so I'm still working on getting him settled in. Unfortunately he's acting like a child because he doesn't want to be stationed here in Japan. Oh well, five months down thirty-one more to go.
Disclaimer: This is getting really old real quick. I still do NOT own anything.
Chapter 11
Trials and Tribulations
A young auburn haired woman walked down a cobblestone pathway surrounded by various types of trees. Leaves whispered softly in the breeze that caressed her smooth skin while the grass formed soft green waves along the ground. The path slowly began to widen until the woman stood in front of a large fountain. In the middle was a large white marble statue of an angel. Its wings were spread out to their full twelve foot wingspan and the slender arms were held out as if it were inviting a small child in for a hug. The unseeing eyes appeared to be looking downwards to where the girl stood gazing upwards. Long hair flowed down to the middle of the statue's back and over its shoulders. A simple dress clothed the stone woman the garment coming down to the angel's knees. Cold clear water pooled out from underneath the angel's bare feet flowing quietly down three tiers before collecting into a pool of water.
Serenity peered down into the clear liquid to see her reflection staring back at her. A small gasp escaped her throat as she realized she was not alone. Another woman was standing next to her gazing down at the reflections they cast. Standing upright Serenity turned her head to look at the platinum haired female that occupied the area next to her. Selana smiled at her wearing the same attire when she first spoke to the younger female. The Egyptian woman sat down on the edge of the fountain and motioned for Serenity to do the same. Once she had Selana spoke.
"Have you decided what you will do?" The questioned was asked with much concern as Selana stared straight ahead not looking at the girl next to her. A soft breath of cool air touched her face allowing the two locks of hair on either side of her face to brush against her ears. The maiden next to her shifted slightly in her seat on the marble stone.
"Yes, I have decided." Serenity lifted her head up and fixated her sights upon the pathway she came from. A platinum blonde head turned to look at her desiring to hear the answer.
"What have you decided?" A gentle voice asked the face it belonged to held no judgment about any answer that was to follow. The auburn haired girl let out a slow breath before turning to the Egyptian a serious look on her face and in her eyes.
"You're an idiot." A voice laughed from somewhere in the cave. Yami Bakura's head snapped up eyes narrowed looking for the body the voice belonged to. Seeing that the cavern was void of anyone else the spirit played it off as his mind playing tricks on him. "There you go again, being an idiot. I'm right here you fool."
Yami Bakura snarled as he examined the area once again but stopped upon seeing a ghostly looking figure two yards away from him. He scowled in disbelief as he looked at the form of his past life. Thief King stood there arms crossed, an eyebrow raised, and a smirk that clearly stated he loved toying with his other side. His dark red robe was open showing a pair of black shorts to cover his legs. For some reason Yami Bakura was glad Serenity was asleep the last thing he wished for was her drooling over his ancient self.
"How exactly am I an idiot?" Yami Bakura growled at Thief King letting his previous thought slip to the back recesses of his mind. The smug look on the tanner skinned male became more prominent as if he knew what Yami Bakura was thinking. This only caused the snow white haired teen to scowl bitterly. Taking a few steps forward Thief King sat next to his future self, who eyed him warily but said nothing.
"While both Selana and Serenity share some similar qualities they are far from being the same. Serenity may be Selana's reincarnation but at the same time she's not. Selana made sure that when she was reincarnated that you didn't fall in love with just her but the girl she was reborn into so she kept only a few pieces of herself intact. Why do you think that after all that time prior to this you never recognized Serenity for who she really was?"
"Does Serenity know this?" Yami Bakura questioned his sights looking down to the sleeping form on his shoulder. He brushed away a few pieces of now dry mud off her shoulders and out of her hair.
"Selana will tell her soon. Look at the differences between them. Selana was more than willing enough to maim someone and would do anything to get what she wanted." Both Thief King's and Yami Bakura's eyes clouded over in a lusty haze as they remembered one incident. A small movement from the auburn haired girl broke them from that memory as Yami Bakura shifted so the girl was sitting somewhat in his lap her head on his chest. "I've seen into her. You're not going to find another girl like her the rest of your life. She's giving you a chance no one else will. You pass that up she'll never look at you in the same light again. You will forever be one of the monsters in her nightmares. The feelings you have are for the girl next to you not Selana. Don't go rushing into breaking the small connection you two have without a plan."
"Hn, everything your saying doesn't even sound like the old you. Since when did you care who I liked and what not? Before you were furious with me for having feelings for her." Yami Bakura gave his other half a sideways glance trying to detect any misgivings the other might put off. The other white haired male shrugged while staring up at the dirt ceiling.
"I was furious because I thought you were going to use her to get to the Pharaoh. When it comes to women I'm not that heartless. They can be vindictive, cunning, crafty things when pissed off. Remember the time with Selana?" Both Bakura's shuddered as the memory replayed in their minds. That was a day neither of them wanted to relive again. "If you truly didn't care for her you never would have allowed her to stay in the same room as you let alone allow her to touch you. She knows you're heart isn't completely encased in stone. She found that small crack no one else saw and despite what she's witnessed she still cares for you."
"If I give her a chance what will she do when she hears what I've done in the past? That's another reason I want to give her up. I don't want her hurt because of me. I have enemies out there that would love to exploit any of my weaknesses. It's best she runs away now and fears me than try and pretend she's okay with everything and gets hurt in the end."
"Serenity is far from weak. You said it yourself that she had some guts to stand up to you at the pool. She even stood up to her brother which took some courage considering how close they are and in front of his friends none-the-less. Serenity has a something inside her that you are drawing out of her. She needs you to overcome the barrier that is the walls her brother and his friends put her behind. Clarissa can only help her along that path so far, she needs you for the rest of it." With that said Thief King Bakura vanished leaving Yami Bakura alone with Serenity.
Yami Bakura stared down at the top of the red haired girl's head. He honestly hoped his other side was right or things were going to be a living hell for the both of them. Wrapping his arms around the girl's small frame he sighed and stared out into the night. The storm was starting to pass over, the thunder becoming nothing but a low rumble and the lightning less frequent. The rain was letting up ever so slowly but the sky still remained dark. The beeping on his watch let him know that it was now midnight and that several long hours still needed to creep by before the sun rose. With a sigh he stared up at the ceiling, he'd give anything to have a charge on his iPod right about now.
"I decided that I will stay with him. I believe that if we do have some sort of connection that we can get through anything. His past may be dark but I believe in him. He may not be able to escape everything that has been said and done but I will stay with him."
The Egyptian woman smiled her eyes twinkling with joy. Tucking one of her locks behind her ear she stood up with the grace like that of royalty. She took a few paces forward before turning to look at the modern day teenager. Hands folded neatly in front of her the woman seemed to glow with splendor.
"Then, I have confidence in you that you'll make it through the test." Selana stated matter-of-factly. A mischievous smirk appeared on her face before she turned back around and disappeared down the cobblestone path.
"Test?" Serenity whispered to no one in particular. Before she had time to fully comprehend what had happened there was a loud crash and the sky went dark. The fountain she was sitting on started to crack causing the young woman to let out a short shriek as she jumped up. Spinning around in surprise she watched in horror as the angelic statue chipped, cracked, and split apart into various size pieces. The stone statue crumbled into a pile the water vanishing into thin air.
"Yes, a test my dear. You can't expect us to trust you just off your word do you? You have to prove yourself dear little Serenity." A male voice filled the darkness that Serenity stood in. The girl's arms crossed her arms in front of her chest as a reflex. Something brushed her hair and the girl let out a high pitched scream as she whirled around bringing her small fisted hands up in front of her in a weak defensive posture.
"W-who are you? What d-do you w-want?" Serenity stuttered as she scrutinized the darkness around her. She felt a set of fingers brush gently over the side of her neck and continue to her hair. Goosebumps formed along her skin and the tiny hairs on her body stood erect. Hoping to catch the person by surprise she turned quickly throwing a punch to what she prayed was the subject's face. A gasp of shock escaped her lips when her wrist was caught by a powerful hand.
"Calm down sweetheart. I'm not here to hurt you." The man chuckled his shoulders shaking a little in the process. The brown eyed girl gawked at the snow white hair, dark tanned skin, muscular build, and the penetrating violet eyes. A shade of red touched her cheeks as she turned her eyes away from the devilishly handsome male before her. This only caused him to tilt his back and let out a roar of laughter dropping her wrist from his grasp. "Don't stare too long Serenity, you'll make him jealous."
Serenity let out a tiny squeak as the blush on her face darkened. She murmured something incoherently but returned her sights upon the man in front of her. The same man she had seen Selana holding back in the caves. Now that she had a better look at him her eyes widened in recognition. Her eyes hadn't been playing tricks on her earlier. She really had seen someone else when Yami Bakura had become furious and deadly.
"Ah, I see you remember me from the few times I showed myself earlier. I'm known as Thief King Bakura. I'm here to put you through a couple of trials to see if you can back up what you said. If you'd be so kind to take my hand..." Thief King held out his larger hand out for the girl to place her smaller one in. Serenity's cheeks reddened briefly as she placed her hand in the Egyptian's hand. She blinked at how drastically their skin color contrasted with one another and how warm he was.
"What will these tests entail?" Serenity asked as Thief King Bakura led her in a random direction into the chilling abyss.
"Don't worry, it doesn't require anything physical on your part. Mostly we want to gauge your reactions on events from the past. Depending on how you react depends on whether you pass or not." Pitch-black encompassed them as the two continued to walk on to no where in particular. Serenity was wondering if they were lost when she started to feel warmth tickle her skin. Shivering at the new sensation she placed her right hand on her upper left arm as her left hand was preoccupied with Thief King's.
"Why does it feel so warm?" Serenity asked curiously as she looked around for the source.
"We're getting closer to the first trial." An orange glow appeared on the horizon and the heat slowly became more intense as the two humans approached. The female covered her nose and gagged slightly at the smell that assaulted her sinuses. She couldn't place exactly what was burning but it was horrible. Her eyes watered as smoke came in contact with them as Thief King led her into a village that was ablaze. "Welcome to our past."
All around them screams and cries of various people filled the air. Ringing of metal against metal alerted the modern girl to a battle nearby. A group of men ran past the two new figures as if they didn't even exist. The mens' robes were all tattered and they carried in their hands various weapons from short daggers to clubs. However, they were no match against the soldiers who stood in formation their spearmen holding the front while swordsmen stood directly behind them. Four of the charging men became the unfortunate souls that were stabbed through the abdomen with the sharp spears. Not a drop of red fell on the white leg garments nor the matching head dress of the soldiers. Serenity's gag reflex gave out and she fell to her knees with a dry heave.
"It gets worse." Thief King grumbled bitterly as he assessed what was happening before them. Being one of the worst memories of his entire life he did not enjoy seeing it again. Despite become cold and semi-sadistic seeing people he knew being killed like they were nothing at all still struck deep into him. He turned to look down at the fright filled girl who was trying to stand her legs quaking from trying to contain her nausea.
"I'll be okay." The girl stated trying to sound confident but even she doubted her own words. The Egyptian nodded frowning as he led her away from the scene and to the center of the town. They walked down a flight of stairs that led underneath the village's center building. A line of villagers had formed in front of cauldron of molten liquid. It was then Serenity realized what she had been smelling. Burning flesh. She cried out in horror as a mother and child were shoved into what she now recognized as liquefied gold. The soldiers were ensuring that none of their victims left the line as one by one each of the village people were melted alive. What was before her eyes was more than Serenity could handle, falling to her knees once more she vomited on the spot.
Thief King winced ever so slightly. This wasn't something he had wanted to do but she had to be made aware of the event. It was part of the things that haunted Bakura and in order to comfort someone you had to know what you were dealing with. He crouched down onto his haunches and wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders. Serenity looked up terrified as she watched a helpless old man meet his doom. The next victim waiting in line was a young girl who was crying out for her mother and father to save her. No response came to the black haired girl's pleas as the emotionless soldier nudged her towards the stairs leading to the cauldron.
Something in Serenity snapped and a burning rage filled her. In an all out sprint she raced towards the helpless girl and slammed into the soldier. Expecting to meet resistance Serenity yelped in shock when she flew right through the man and hit the ground. Dread filled her as she glanced back to watch the sobbing and squirming girl be none-to-gently being pulled up by her hair and dropped into the molten liquid. Fury rushed through the auburn haired girl. How could these soldiers do such a thing and why? What did a young girl like the one they just murdered ever do to them? Someone wrapped their arms around her waist and Serenity, only seeing sheer red by this point, shouted out in anger and threw her elbow backwards towards the person behind her. A grunt alerted her to who she had really hit and the girl's vision instantly cleared.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry Thief King Bakura." Serenity stated apologetically as she turned around to see the Egyptian rubbing his jaw with a grin. He waved it off before turning his attention to the scene before him and then beyond it. His violet eyes landed on a small dirty white haired boy hidden in the shadows of an abandoned home watching the exact same thing they were.
"This was how the Millennium Items were created. By sacrificing 99 souls of my village. Those not sacrificed were either killed fighting for survival, tortured to death, or slain before their family who were then killed where they stood. I witnessed all of this and was the only survivor of this attack. Well, so I thought. Turns out Selana survived as well but she was taken from the village prior to all this. However, I watched her mother become a sacrifice all for these items that the Pharaoh wanted for power. Now you know why Bakura does what he does and what haunts him. To watch everyone you know perish before your eyes is one thing you never forget."
"How could they kill so many innocent people?" Serenity whispered as she felt bile forming in the back of her throat.
"I wouldn't say my village was exactly filled with innocents. We were a town filled with thieves and other criminals but we got along decently. They did this to rid themselves of one last headache. The soldiers killed everyone so that word didn't get out to the rest of Egypt of what really happened. I don't think the rest of the nation would enjoy hearing what the Pharaoh would really do for power."
"It doesn't matter what you were! This was disgusting, tragic, and a cruel abuse of power. These people should be cursed for eternity. Things like this would haunt anyone no matter how much they act like it doesn't bother them anymore. I do understand now why you consistently go after Yugi. You want the well deserved justice for this slaughter." Tears of outrage streamed down her cheeks while her small hands balled up into fists. She turned around and did something that took the ancient Egyptian by surprise, she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him like he was the one that needed the comforting despite the fact she was the one in tears. The demon relaxed into the embrace and wrapped his own arms around her. She really would be the perfect match for Yami Bakura, just her hugs alone made him feel like he was wanted and that someone was willing to listen. The one last string that held his weak emotions in check snapped and he did something he hadn't done in ages, he wept silently.
Serenity froze ever so slightly in shock when she felt something wet hit the top of her head. Glancing up she caught sight of Thief King's shoulders shaking ever so minutely and she became aware of what was happening. Pulling him downwards she managed to get him into a kneeling position making sure to keep a form of contact on him. Her right arm came up under his so her hand ran up and down his back while her left hand was gently placed on the back of his head. Thief King's face was hidden from view in her shoulder and neck. She whispered soothing words into his ear his tears soaking through her shirt. The girl took no notice and continued to administer to him until he calmed down enough to breathe normally. He looked at her nonjudgmental expression before she raised an eyebrow silently asking if he was going to be alright.
"I'll be fine. You passed the first test. There is another test you need to pass before I return you to Selana." The Egyptian stated composing himself rather quickly. Holding his hand out once more he grasped Serenity's willingly accepting hand and led her away from the nightmare that was his past. The young girl turned to look back only to see the memory fade into darkness like a ghost. The sound of rain falling entered the girl's ears as the two humans got closer to the next memory.
Serenity began to hear voices and both sounded strangely familiar. A small spot of light appeared as Thief King and Serenity stepped into a room. Upon looking around the young teen instantly acknowledged the fact that they were both back in the cabin. In front of them stood Yami Bakura and the man who had cut Serenity's neck. Serenity was no where in sight giving the impression that this took place shortly after she left through the window.
"You fucking bastard," Aaron snarled as he pulled the knife from his shoulder. "You're going to pay for that."
"That line has been said to me so many times it lost its threat ages ago." Yami Bakura smirked as Aaron lunged at him but he side stepped the attack tripping the man in the process. A thud was heard as the dirty man hit the floor yowling in pain as Yami Bakura took Aaron's knife and stabbed it into the uninjured shoulder. Aaron turned over and a new wave of terror overcame him as the object on the teen's chest glowed an evil yellow. Dark shadows began to creep up snaking around his arms, brushing against his legs, and wrapped around his neck. He tried to crawl backwards but a foot slammed down onto his chest keeping him from moving.
"What's going on? What are these things?" Aaron asked in fright as his arms flailed trying to fight off the dark tentacles. This action only caused more to spring up and take a grasp on him.
"These are the shadows of which you will disappear into. They show no mercy to their victims. Enjoy your time in the shadow realm." Yami Bakura chuckled darkly as malice gave his eyes an eerie glow as he twisted the blade deeper in the man's shoulder. The man hollered in agony before the blade was pulled out slowly. A sudden scream from outside had Yami Bakura looking over his shoulder eyes wide in shock.
"It seems Greg and James got their hands on the bitch." The man on the floor chuckled as he slowly became absorbed into the darkness. "I can't even begin to say what they'll do to her now."
Yami Bakura growled like a feral wolf and slammed his foot into the man's chest. A sickening crack echoed through the room as a few ribs broke. Despite the fact he was barefoot he began to slam the ball of his heel into the man's face. Blood began to splatter as Yami Bakura basked in the torture. Blood poured from a broken nose, bruises began to form around one eye, and a few teeth came loose. Once the shadows had completely devoured the man Yami Bakura ran into the other room, threw on his boots, and jumped out the same window Serenity had vanished through earlier.
The real Serenity stood there shivering despite the lack of temperature in the room. She had just witnessed Yami Bakura murder a man in cold blood. Red liquid was splattered across the wall and floor boards. One pool of blood had tiny rivers flowing away from it as they followed a gentle slope towards the couch. Thief King touched her shoulder snapping the female out of her fears.
"There's more to be seen." Thief King said as he led her towards the bedroom.
"Why? Why did he get so carried away with that man? I know the man was horrible but did he really have to kill him?" Serenity questioned as she wrung her wrists in nervousness. As they stepped through the fake wall Thief King clutched her hand tighter but said nothing in return. Lightning flooded the woods around them in a brilliant shade of white and before them stood the angry figure of Yami Bakura. His hands were clenched in anger, blood still dripping from where Aaron's blood had coated his palms.
"Who the hell are you?" Greg growled turning to the new person. Once he realized who he was looking at the color drained from his face. "How the hell did you make it past Aaron? You should be dead! What have you done to Aaron? Answer me!"
"That piece of trash died by my hands just like you two will for touching her. I don't like it when someone lays their hands on my possessions." Yami Bakura grinned sinisterly as he flipped the knives in his hands. Serenity watched as she wiggled enough to throw her elbow into Greg's nose and shove James away from her.
"You little wench!" Greg shouted as he cupped a hand over his now bleeding nose. He looked up to see Yami Bakura was standing in front of him a feral look on his face. James made a lunge at the white haired demon but was sent flying by some unseen force. The real Serenity flinched as she watched the red and black haired man slam into a tree trunk.
Both Thief King and the girl watched as Selana appeared calling out to the other Serenity. The other auburn haired girl turned to watch as Yami Bakura took the knives in his hands and twirled them skillfully. The same unseen force sent Greg backwards hitting his back against a tree. A savage look spread across his face as he drove the two blades into separate palms successfully fastening the man to the tree. The other Serenity ran off into the woods but neither the real Serenity nor Thief King made any notion to follow.
Yami Bakura reveled in the pain he was inflicting on these two men. One was incapable of moving unless he decided to rip his hands from the blades holding him to the tree. The other was just beginning to rise limping from a few fractured or broken bones.
"James! Help me! The bastard stuck me to the tree!" The blonde bearded man hollered trying to keep his movements to a minimum. James made a mad dash towards Yami Bakura but fell on his face as a purple tendril sprang from the ground and wrapped itself around his ankle. The white haired teen cackled in glee as the shadow tentacles began to form.
"Your blood is calling to me. The blood from your victims cries out for revenge. I revel in the taste and smell of blood. While yours is tainted I shall relish in this feeling none the less." Yami Bakura's eyes flashed between red, violet, and brown. His aura changed as he stood before Greg and grasped the man's throat tightly. Pulling out one of the knives from Greg's hands slowly, causing a howl loud enough to match the thunder, Yami Bakura made a slow delicate cut in the man's neck. The ruby liquid slowly oozed out and the demon sniffed in deeply his grin growing. "Oh yes, I will relish in this moment."
Serenity whimpered in horror as James was dragged towards a different tree by the purple tentacle which wasted no time stabbing him through the shoulders. His anguished cry filled Serenity's ears. It took all her effort to not cover them. Yami Bakura in the meantime was slowly dragging the blade down Greg's chest thin rivers of blood showing through the clothing.
Everything happened so quickly that Serenity didn't have time to cover her eyes. The white haired teen's hands became a blur that if it wasn't for the amount of blood that was left pooling under the two dead bodies Serenity would've thought that Yami Bakura was only showing off his skill with a blade. She couldn't tell from the angle that she was standing in what wounds were inflicted but quite frankly she didn't want to know.
Yami Bakura smiled evilly as he looked down at his blood covered hands. The two mens' bodies had long disappeared into the shadow realm leaving no trace of them behind. Thief King caught Serenity as she came close to fainting on the spot. The teen was shaking horribly and her eyes were wide with fear.
"Now you know what he is capable of, what I'm capable of. This is what happens when people mess with our possessions. What happens when they mess with us." Thief King stated as Serenity slowly regained her footing.
"Did he have to kill them in such a manner?" Serenity asked with a hint of anger but mostly horror.
"Do you know what those men were thinking about? What they had planned for you? What they did to other girls like you? Trust me, they got let off easy. Had he had the time he would've done much worse. They would've been begging for death."
"They didn't-" Serenity paused. Did they really not deserve such a fate? Just from what she had seen they two men were planning on using her for her body. That idea alone made her skin crawl and anger began to burn within her. However, something in her was making her feel pity towards the youngest. He tried to help her and seemed to be concerned about her.
"They didn't what my dear?" Thief King asked as he watched his other half vanish into the woods. He turned to see Serenity shaking her head as if she finally found her words.
"I wanted to say they didn't deserve all this but at the same time, they did. I don't know what horrible acts they did in the past but the fact they tried to kill us makes me burn with rage. Yet, the youngest one, the look in his eyes, they told a story of someone who didn't want to be there. It was if he was forced to be there. While leaving them for the police would've been an option who knows what would've been the outcome. If they got free they would only come after us again and do something worse. Yami Bakura was only trying to protect us both."
The ancient Egypt stood there in semi-shock. He had been have expecting her to say the men should have lived, yet here she stood justifying the three mens' grizzly deaths. A small smile graced his features before he held out his hand to the girl. She took it and just as his fingers wrapped around hers the world around them shattered into millions of tiny shards.
For the briefest of moments Serenity felt like she was falling but it soon ended when her feet gently touched ground. Looking around she found she was at the same fountain before all of this started. Selana was sitting there on the edge of the fountain waiting her hands folded in her lap. She stood when the two made their way towards her looking between the two of them.
"She passed the tests." Thief King smirked as he released Serenity's hand from his grip. He turned and started to walk away. "She's all yours now."
Selana let out a tiny squeal of glee as she enveloped Serenity in a hug. The auburn hair had to take a small step to keep herself upright. Finding herself being dragged towards the fountain again Serenity let herself relax and go with the flow. After all the things she just witnessed sitting would be nice.
"You have no idea how pleased I am to hear that you passed. Now I can tell you something I've been meaning to inform you of since we met." Selana was nothing but grins while Serenity looked at her curiously. "I am somewhat you in the past. Not entirely though, just a part of me still resides in you. It's complicated to explain but the easiest way to say it is that you're not my full reincarnation. I only allowed a part of myself to be reborn so that Yami Bakura would fall in love with the girl herself not just me."
"I guess if I was your full reincarnation Yami Bakura would've recognized me earlier?" Serenity questioned as she sat next to her past counterpart.
"Yes, and I knew that inhabiting another girl's mind and body would deprive her of a life she truly deserves. My father made sure that when I died only a piece of me went into the next life."
"Who was your father? He had to be powerful to be able to accomplish that task." Serenity turned her attention to the woman next to her wanting to know more.
"That my dear Serenity, I cannot tell you. Not because I don't want to but the fact that somethings are best left unsaid until the proper time. I want you to find the answer to the question yourself. One day when you have time look deep inside yourself and you'll find the answer." The Egyptian smiled at her with a hint of mischief and mystery.
"So, if I'm understanding all this correctly, Yami Bakura loves me for me and not just because of part of you still lives inside me." The statement was said with much confidence and gratefulness as the auburn haired girl feared losing the white haired teen.
"Exactly." Selana beamed as she stood Serenity following suit. "I would love to talk more but it's time for you to start waking up. We will see each other again Serenity."
With that the world around the younger female vanished along with Selana. A dull light was breaking through the darkness and warmth was slowly creeping back into Serenity's body. Realizing that this was the sun Serenity opened her eyes before groaning as she closed them again. Outside looked pleasant but waking up to direct sunlight in one's eyes was not so pleasing. With a small moan she tried to turn her head away from the despicable light only to be met with cloth. She blinked in confusion and looked up to see Yami Bakura's sleeping face. Serenity smiled softly and reached up to tuck away a stray white hair away from the male's face.
"I'm glad you dozed off. I was worried about you not getting any sleep. Thank you." Serenity whispered before she slowly rose to her feet and kissed the male on the forehead.
