On the Road

Hiro flew through the trees, effortlessly, though occasionally he landed on a branch and launched himself forward. He could've traveled far faster in Bijuu Mode, but he was feeling nostalgic to the days of when he first left Konoha.

I wish I knew where Itachi actually was, so I wouldn't have to go looking everywhere for him. Hiro thought angrily.

"There's a village coming up, you can rest there." The Kyuubi commented lazily.

Hiro nodded, and after a few more minutes he arrived in the village.

Hiro stepped into the village square and looked around, There isn't a soul around... He noted.

The Kyuubi perked up quickly, his eyes wary, "Be careful Hiro, something isn't completely right here."

Hiro nodded and proceeded to walk through the village.

He quickly noticed that it had been abandoned for some time, as no clear signs of life were apparent, dust lay everywhere and nature had come to reclaim what was once it's property. But he was unable to do much looking around, before he was greeted by a strange greeter.

On the opposite side of the street stood a man, gazing intently at a book in his hands, and a peculiarly long blade resting on his hip.

He looked up from what he was reading to glare at Hiro before reciting the words, "Yellow Demon, Wind of Death, Hiro Tatsumi, S Ranked, Incredibly dangerous, do not attempt to apprehend without considerable force and more than ample backup." The man smiled maliciously.

Hiro smiled right back, much more childishly though, "I'm that famous now?" He asked innocently.

"You're name is known throughout these lands, especially due to your actions at that time..." He said mysteriously, but still keeping his strange smile.

Hiro nodded for a moment but then frowned, "Only S Ranked though? I would've expected something higher especially due to what happened..." He said cryptically.

Hiro blinked for a second and the man was right next to him, "I'm here to hunt you down Hiro, I'm a bit of a bounty hunter, and your bounty is the largest save for a few." He reached and grabbed the hilt of his sword, "I know quite a few people that would pay great sums of money to see your head on a plate."

Hiro smirked and chuckled a little, "Did you ever think..." Hiro paused and his body began to wave a little, before disappearing completely, as though he were made of smoke. "That maybe my bounty was so high for a reason?" He finished, pretty much whispering it into the man's ear.

He didn't seem surprised, and jumped back to put some distance between the two, "Let's see it then." He responded, his eyes narrowing.

Hiro looked around at his surroundings, "Tell me, is there anyone else in this village? I can sense someone who feels oddly familiar, but I can't pinpoint who it is exactly." He questioned, looking intently at the man.

The man frowned, "I'm here for you and that is all, anyone else who happens to be here is here by coincidence." He replied looking around.

Hiro nodded before smiling widely, "If that's all then it looks like you can't do anything for me." He said happily.

The man seemed confused again, and he opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Hiro.

"It's been a long time huh -" he began as the man's body was cleaved in two by a massive sword, "Kisame?"

The sharkish appearing man landed lightly where the bounty hunter had been, "Yo, Hiro." He said, giving the younger man a gaping smile.

Hiro smiled back, "What're you doing around here?" He questioned, curious of the notorious man's intentions.

The man's smile dropped before he said, "Itachi has wanted to see you for some time, and he has some serious business to talk to you about."

"Thank God! I've been looking for him all over, you'll take me to him yea?" Hiro asked, relieved his hunt for Itachi was finally over.

Kisame nodded and gestured for Hiro to follow him.

In a cave in the Land of Earth

Itachi stood waiting, maybe even a hint of worry in his eyes as Hiro and Kisame entered.

"Yo Itachi! So this is where you've been... It's very... you." Hiro joked smiling at his friend.

"Naruto, now isn't the time for joking, there have been a lot of developments in recent time that I need you to be aware of." He said, without a hint of humor in his voice, his eyes as cold as ice.

Hiro immediately turned serious at the mention of his old name, "What is it?" He asked.

Itachi looked up at the ceiling and thought for a few moments before replying, "Orochimaru has begun to aim at Konoha again, and his sights are more firmly set on Sasuke this time."

Hiro gritted his teeth at the mention of his old village's name, "You've been able to handle things before, what's different now?" He asked, concerned.

Itachi looked like pained for the briefest of moments before he looked back at Hiro, "He has started moving again, it won't be long before he turns his eyes to the Bijuu, and as a result the Jinchuriki. He may be the kind of opponent you can face, but there is a sort of air of uncertainty around him." He said almost lamenting.

Hiro looked down an composed his thoughts, "They'll go for Gaara first, should I go to Suna?" He asked.

Itachi shook his head, "Having the Jinchuriki grouped up in any place is asking for trouble." He responded.

Hiro looked confused for a moment, then a little angry, "You don't mean -" He started.

"You can't stay in Kumogakure an longer." Itachi cut in, making Hiro's worst fears come true.

Hiro clenched his fists, "No! It is my home, I have no place else to go..." He finished sadly.

Itachi put a hand on his friends shoulder to try and comfort him a little, "There is one place that has no Jinchuriki within their gates and is in critical need of you at the moment." He said.

Hiro looked at him, and whispered, "Konoha."

Itachi nodded and took a few steps back to let Hiro compose himself and his thoughts.

Staring at the ground, Hiro asked, "But why?"

"If Orochimaru should attack again with his full strength, you would be there to stop him, in addition to keeping the Akatsuki from using their full strength on Kumo by having the Jinchuriki spread out." He answered solemnly.

Hiro nodded slightly but he was still having trouble coming to terms with it.

"I know this won't be easy for you, but for the survival of the world it will be necessary, and I know you've been through far worse. You can handle it." Itachi said as he began to vanish, "I believe in you." He finished as he completely disappeared and Hiro was all alone in the cave.

"Can't believe we have to go back to that place." The Kyuubi said tiredly, "I was just getting used to our new lives too."

Hiro nodded in agreement, It's not gonna be fun any way I look at it, but if Itachi says it's what has to be done to protect everything, then there is no other choice. He explained to his roommate.

"You've grown a little bit more mature Hiro." The Kyuubi chuckled at his friend.

Hiro blushed a little, Ah shut up will you! On that kind of topic though, I'll need a new identity if I'm gonna be living in Konoha again.

"Ah that's right, kinda makes me a little nostalgic." The Kyuubi laughed, reminiscing of the days gone past.

Hiro smiled too, remembering his old life after he left Konoha, I think I might just go with one name this time around, maybe... Akira? He asked his partner.

The Kyuubi smirked, "Sounds good to me, I'll leave the name up to you this time." He said, returning to his nap.

Hiro nodded and moved to exit the cave, steeling his resolve for the coming days ahead.

Two Days later

/

Hiro stood a good distance from Konoha, looking out over it from a tree.

Taking a deep breath he made a handsign and changed his hair color to black, and his eyes to red. He wrapped up his forearms in bandages and removed his scarf. He put on a white cloak with red flames decorating the bottom that read, "Demon" on it. He removed his two swords and sealed them away in a scroll for safekeeping.

And with that Akira was ready to enter the village.

Akira approached the two chuunin sitting at the entrance desk to the village.

They looked at him with a bit of confusion and fear in their eyes, "C-can we help you?" One of them asked.

Akira smiled at them, "Yeah, I just wanted admission into the village if that's possible?" He asked kindly.

The two chuunin loosened up, "Sure, we just need your name and occupation." The smaller one replied.

Hiro nodded, "My name's Akira, and I'm a wandering shinobi." He responded honestly.

The two chuunin looked at each other and nodded, "Alright that works, welcome to Konoha, Mr. Akira."

Akira smiled at the two and thanked them for their help before continuing on his way.

He was back.
