Sorry for the late update guys! I got some MAJOR writer's block -_-'. I also spent the holidays in an extremely remote place which has NO internet (the grandparents' ranch) and tried focusing on it while there, but you know how it is, family demands attention. Luckily this story has a basic outline whereas Daughter of Ipswich doesn't and that one will take a little longer to be updated.
Also a plot bunny has been nagging at me restlessly with my little brother's newfound interest in Inuyasha. I'm trying to put it off and not start it yet, but it's driving me pretty crazy. Luckily, I'm kinda OCD and do A LOT of planning before starting any story and I have been feeding the plot bunny with my plans.
Please note that I have not watched season 4 yet, but have thoroughly researched. That being said, I'm going to display Elena's reaction my own way, taking into consideration the fact that Elena is very sentimental and feels guilt rather easily.
But anyhoo, enough yammering. On with the story!

Chapter Eight
A scream echoed through the boarding house and Damon shot out of his bed and out of his room. Bumping into his brother, he stopped.
"What the hell was that?"
"I have no idea." Stefan responded as they shared a concerned look and another scream rang.
"Elena." Damon breathed in realization and both brothers ran into the vampire's room. It had been one week since the curse, but she hadn't ever had a fit in the middle of the night. She was twisting in her bed as she pulled on her hair.
"No, no, no!" She cried. "Please stop! I didn't kill you, Jenna!" Tears streamed down her face.
Damon and Stefan shared another concerned look. The older brother sat on the side of the bed and pulled her into his arms. "Elena, wake up. It's ok." He whispered soothingly in her ear as Stefan sat on the other side of her and rubbed her back. "It's just an illusion. Wake up, kitten."
She looked up with red eyes, tears continuously streaming down her cheeks. "Oh, Damon!" She sobbed, hugging him.
Soft steps were heard entering the room. Stefan stood and saw Jen walking in with a small glass of water mixed with something, a mug, and a towel. "Jen?" He asked curiously, although he shouldn't have been surprised that she was awake. She had mentioned a few times before that she was a very light sleeper. "You're awake."
She chuckled. "Of course I am. I woke up with the first scream, but I figured I wouldn't be the best person to wake up a terrified new vampire so I went downstairs and prepared some things to help calm her." She walked over and held out the glass of water to Elena.
"What is it?" Elena sniffled and looked at her curiously. Her voice was raspy from the screams.
"Water and sugar." Jen answered with a small smile, taking the seat that Stefan had vacated. "My mom would always give me some after waking from a nightmare and I do the same with JD."
"Thank you." Elena nodded and drank it slowly. She closed her eyes and could feel herself calming. "It really works." She gave Jen a small smile.
"Here," Jen handed her the small hand towel. "To wipe away the sweat and fear."
Elena smiled a little wider, took the towel and wiped her face. "Thanks, I needed that.
"And one more thing," Jen handed her the mug. "Passion fruit tea, unlike chamomile tea, it doesn't just calm. Passion fruit actually holds natural chemicals that make you sleepy, and it tastes way better."
Elena chuckled and took the mug. "Good, because I hate chamomile."
"Me too, and JD doesn't like it either." Jen smiled back and stood up.
Damon smiled at the exchange between the two young women. He had to admit that the love of his life and the mother of his child getting along made him happy.
"Well good night, guys." Jen smiled at the 3 vampires. "I hope we find a way to break this curse soon, Elena." She patted the younger girl's shoulder and walked out.
"Jen," She heard Damon's voice from behind her.
"Yeah?" She turned around to face him.
"Thank you for that." He smiled.
"It was nothi-" She began and he cut her off.
"No." He shook his head. "I know things aren't easy between you and Elena because of me, and you didn't have to do what you did."
"Damon really, I like Ele-" She tried to protest.
"I know." He chuckled. "But remember I've been, hell I still am where you are, and I sure as hell wouldn't have done the same." He shrugged and gave a crooked smile. "But really," he stroked her cheek. "You're an angel." He kissed her forehead.
She blushed and gulped. She couldn't lie and say that it didn't hurt her to see him with Elena, but she knew that there was nothing she could do. As long as being around him was good for JD, and sometimes even her, she would grin and bear it. "Good night, Damon." She gave him a soft smile.
"Good night, Jen." He smiled back.
-PB-
Jen, Jeremy and Stefan sat in the kitchen trying to figure out a way to break Elena's curse over pie while Damon had gone to pick up JD and the vampire in question was upstairs.
"I don't have any idea, guys." Jeremy sighed. "I've researched all over the internet and found nothing."
"I've looked through libraries here and in Richmond and found nothing." Stefan sighed as well.
"I'll talk to Rebekah tomorrow." Jen stated as all 3 took a bite of their slices of pie. "So what do you think? Good enough to serve at the bakery?"
"Damn…" Jeremy moaned. "Hell yes."
"It's delicious." Stefan took another bite. "Everyone will love it."
"Have you thought about what you're going to make to be served at the Founder's Ball that's coming up?" Jeremy asked as he and Stefan continued devouring the pie. "Every family makes something to be served."
"Caroline told me about it and I reminded her that I'm not part of any of the founding families or any long standing family of Mystic Falls." Jen answered with a shrug.
"But you live with the Salvatores and had a Salvatore baby." Jeremy reminded and Jen rolled her eyes.
"He's right." Stefan agreed before she could verbally protest. "You were in 1864 and you even learned the Salvatore recipes. No one else here actually knows them. My father's bastard son sure didn't and neither did his wife." Stefan explained. "You're about as much of a Salvatore as it gets even if you don't have the name." He smiled. 'And maybe even that might change some day.' He thought to himself. He would never say that out loud to give Jen false hope, but he secretly hoped that his brother would fall in love with the girl.
Jen blushed and tears prickled at her eyes. "Thanks, Stefan." She was very moved by the green-eyed Salvatore's words. She was surprised to know that he included her so deeply into his family.
Stefan stood up and walked over to her. "You're welcome." He hugged her. "And thanks for the delicious pie." He grinned.
"Most definitely." Jeremy agreed, taking another piece.
Jen laughed and shook her head. "Thanks for being my taste testers. Jeremy, I'll pack some for you to take home." She stood up.
"That'd be great, thanks Jen."
"I'm gonna go check on Elena." Stefan stated when he heard a crash upstairs and zoomed out. Jen packed up the rest of the pie for Jeremy as he washed the plates.
"Jen?" Elena asked walking into the kitchen holding her head. "Can you please make some more of that passion fruit tea, please?" She groaned. "These illusions are driving me insane, literally."
Jen turned around to face her. "Sure, Elena."
Elena eyed her and the curls framing her face made Elena frown. 'She looks like…'
"See, Elena?" Katherine's whispered into her ear. "You can't escape that easily. I'm a part of you." She laughed. "Or better you are a part of me.
No longer was Jen standing in front of Elena, but Katherine was in her place. "Actually," Katherine tapped her chin with finger. "I'd say you are me." She smirked. "Well a dull version of me, but me none the less." She shrugged.
"No! I'm nothing like you, Katherine!" Elena protested. "You're an evil, manipulative, selfish bitch!"
"And you're not?" Katherine arched an eyebrow. "You're much more like me than you think you are, my dear Elena."
"No!" Elena screamed. "I'm nothing like you. I don't go around hurting people just because I can!" She stalked towards her accuser.
"What about Damon? What about Stefan?" She smirked.
Elena clenched her fists, and then broke a leg from one of the chairs. "Elena, stop!" She heard her brother's voice distantly in her mind, but nothing would stop her from getting rid of Katherine.
"You've been a thorn in my side for too long, Katherine." Elena growled.
"Really?" Katherine laughed. "Why? Because I tell you what you don't want to hear?" She laughed again. "You play with those sexy Salvatore boys just like I did. But you have to admit, its fun isn't it." Katherine winked. "They're both so different, but fantastic in bed." She fanned herself. "You keep them both on a chain, waiting just like I did. The funny thing is that they let you." She threw her head back. "You'd think they'd know better by now, especially Damon. But it's a good thing they don't, huh Elena? Or else you wouldn't have all this fun playing with them?"
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Elena screamed. "I'm going to get rid of you once and for all!" She raised the improvised stake.
"Please Elena, stop!" She heard a familiar voice filled with fear begged. "I'm not Katherine!"
"You are me, Elena." Katherine chuckled evilly.
"No, I'm not you!" Elena lunged only to be pulled back by something.
"Elena, stop!" She heard her brother's voice distantly again.
"No, I'm not going to stop! Katherine has to die!" She yelled, pushed back whatever was holding her back, and a crash was heard.
"Come on, Elena." Katherine rolled her eyes. "If you kill me, you're killing yourself."
"I'm better than you, Katherine." She raised the stake again and gripped Katherine's neck. "That's why you're about to die."
-PB-
THE END! JK… Honestly I was tempted to stop here… :P
Damon opened the front door, holding JD's hand. "Go upstairs and wash up, kiddo."
"Ok, daddy." JD obeyed and started walking upstairs.
Suddenly a crash was heard from the kitchen and Stefan zoomed in from the parlor. "What was that?" He looked to his older brother.
"I have no idea." Damon shrugged. "JD, stay up there till I come get you."
"Yes, Daddy." JD nodded, looking curiously toward the kitchen, but finished walking up.
"I'm better than you, Katherine." They heard Elena say in the kitchen. "That's why you're about to die."
"Katherine? I thought she couldn't come in?" Stefan frowned.
"She can't." Damon confirmed and they zoomed in, finding Jeremy a crumpled heap against the island, and Elena pinning Jen to sink and gripping her neck.
"Please Elena," Jen gasped out. "I'm not Katherine."
"Elena!" Both brothers yelled and headed for the cursed vampire. Damon held her as Stefan pried her fingers from Jen's neck. Jen gasped and held herself against the counter.
"You ok?" Damon asked worriedly. Jen said nothing, but nodded.
"No Damon, don't defend her!" Elena struggled against his hold, her face transforming with her rage. "Let me go! Let me kill her!" She pushed him back, lunging for Jen again only to be caught be Stefan. "Let me end that evil bitch."
"She's completely volatile, Damon." Stefan sighed heavily, gripping Elena by the shoulders.
"There's only one thing to do." Damon sighed, grabbed Elena's head and snapped her neck, causing Jen to gasp. "She'll wake up again. Relax." He assured, picking up Elena. "I'm gonna put her downstairs in the cell until we figure out a way to break the fucking curse." He carried Elena out.
"Are you ok?" Stefan looked at Jen.
"I'm ok." She let out a heavy breath. "Check on Jeremy. He tried to pull her back and she pushed him back into the island."
Stefan nodded and kneeled next to Jeremy, who was just waking up. "You alright?"
"Just sore." Jeremy groaned. "What happened? Did Elena hurt Jen? She thought that Jen was Katherine. I think the curly hair set her off."
"We got here in time stop her." Stefan helped him stand. "Damon's locking Elena up downstairs till we break this curse."
"Good idea." Jeremy nodded.
"Thanks for trying to save me, Jeremy." Jen smiled at the young man.
"It's cool." He shrugged. "I wouldn't want Elena to do anything that I know she'd regret later, and you way to awesome a cook to die." He joked, making Jen and Stefan laugh.
"Why don't you stay here tonight? I'm sure that you're sore as hell." Jen offered and Jeremy quickly nodded.
Stefan smiled. 'She's quickly made this her home and started taking care of everyone.' Stefan didn't remember much about his mother, but he knew that she had been the same way, which was why the Salvatore boarding house existed anyways. That was the story that Damon had told him as a child and he believed without a doubt.
-PB-
Jen walked into the bakery after unlocking it. She had just finished her lunch break and began preparing things to open the bakery again.
"Hello, darling." An annoyingly familiar voice greeted.
"Go away, Kol." Jen sighed without turning around. She'd noticed him watching her from a distance since the day that Rebekah had thrown him out. "Rebekah is about to show up here." She turned around glaring.
"You really think that I'm afraid of my little sister?" He arched an eyebrow and smirked.
"I'm not really sure." She shrugs. "You should be afraid of this though." She sprayed him in the face with vervain.
He screamed and covered his face. "I'll get you for that one, Jennifer." He growled at her, his vampire face exposed, and zoomed out.
She let out a sigh of relief and turned her attention to the cake she'd been preparing. "Best thing I ever did was make this thing."
"Why?" The voiced caused her to jump in fright.
"Rebekah! Damn!" She placed a hand over her heart. "You scared me."
"Why does it smell like Kol in here?" The blonde frowned.
"He was here, but I sprayed vervain in his face." Jen responded with a shrug.
"He was?" Rebekah's blue eyes narrowed. "He approached you? I knew he was hanging around from afar, I even warned Damon, but I didn't actually expect him to approach you again."
"He did, but I was ready for him."
"He'll be pissed now. I'll tell Damon and Stefan." Rebekah sighed heavily.
"So why do you look depressed?" Jen looked at her curiously.
"Well, prom is on Friday night." Rebekah groaned and laid her head on the crowd.
"And what's the problem?" Jen rolled her eyes. "You're hot and all the guys in Mystic Falls drool over you."
"Not really." Rebekah shrugged and pushed her hair behind her ear. "The 2 that I want aren't really interested. Elena and Stefan are going together."
"If she's cured that is." Jen reminded.
"Exactly."
"And then there's Matt." Jen added.
"Yes, Matt." Rebekah confirmed. "Sometimes he acts like he likes me and then there are moments when he doesn't."
"I think he's afraid of you." Jen mentioned casually as she placed the cake in the display case.
"Afraid?" Rebekah crossed her arms indignantly. "Why the hell would he be afraid of me?"
"Because," Jen laughed, "You're a one thousand year old vampire with the strength and speed to kill him and just about anyone he knows."
Rebekah glared at her friend, who found her situation so hilarious. "It's not funny."
"It is." Jen disagreed. "But you should ask Matt to go with you anyways. Maybe it'll even make Stefan jealous."
"No, it won't." Rebekah rolled her eyes. "He's way too wrapped up in Elena." She grumbled with distaste.
Jen chuckled. "Maybe not. I know Stefan well enough and he's been protecting himself more when it comes to Elena. She's been floating between him and Damon a lot lately."
"Then maybe there's hope for him yet." Rebekah grinned.
"If only the same could be said…" Jen began but trailed off, shaking her head.
"For Damon." Rebekah finished for her. "He'll get over her, Jen." She assured. "I know he will. You're the mother of his child and you are nowhere nearly as annoying as Elena."
Jen chuckled. "Thanks, Bekah." Her eyes suddenly widened. "Speaking of Elena, I wanted to ask you about how to break the curse."
"Why would I want her to break the curse?" Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"Because she attacked me and Jeremy last night." Jen responded with a glare. "I know you explained the day that I talked to you about Jeremy seeing the mark, but there was so much information that I can't even remember."
"Jeremy could see the mark?" Surprised colored Rebekah's tone.
"Yeah," Jen nodded. "Why?"
"Then he's the cure." Rebekah answered. "Jeremy is one of the Five. If Jeremy kills a vampire he'll activate his mark and we can complete the map."
Jen's head was spinning. "What?"
"Jeremy has to kill a vampire, ok?" Rebekah stated simply. "Call Damon and have him get Jeremy. I'll get one of Nik's hybrids and take it to the boarding house." She explained, heading for the door.
"Thanks for helping even though I know you didn't want to, Bekah." Jen grinned.
"Whatever." Rebekah rolled her eyes. "You owe me. I want free pastries for a week."
"You got it." Jen laughed, pulling out her phone to call Damon.
-PB-
"Stef, I don't know what do." Damon ran a hand through his hair. "We've got no idea how to break this curse."
"Wait for Jen to call." Stefan ran a hand through his own hair. "She said that she'd talk to Rebekah." She was their only hope.
"And why would Barbie Klaus help us?" Damon arched an eyebrow. "She hates Elena."
"Well she and Jen are close." Stefan reminded. "We've all seen how different she is with Jen and JD. You even said so yourself."
"Let's hope that they're close enough then." Damon sighed and his phone began ringing. "Hello?" He answered.
"I've got the cure." Jen sing-sang, making Damon laugh.
"You're the best. Stefan and I were ripping our hair out here." He chuckled.
"Don't do that. You both have such great hair." She teased.
"Tell me something I don't know." Damon smirked.
"Stop smirking." She stated, making Stefan laugh and Damon stare at the phone suspiciously. "I know you, Damon Salvatore."
"Alright, woman enough!" He rolled his eyes. "Now tell me the cure."
"Say please."
Damon groaned as Stefan laughed again. "Please Jennifer, tell me the cure."
"The cure is to find another hunter that's one of the Five." She explained only to be interrupted by Damon.
"How the hell are we supposed to do that?" He yelled angrily.
Jen let out an annoyed sigh. "If you would shut up and let me finish you would know that we already have one."
"Who?"
"Jeremy." She answered. "He has to kill a vampire. Rebekah's grabbing one of Klaus's hybrids to take over there for Jeremy to kill. AS soon as Jeremy kills the hybrid, the curse will be over."
Damon smiled. "You are a fucking genius. I don't know how you got Barbie Klaus to agree, but you're a fucking angel." He stated proudly. "I'm gonna go get Baby Gilbert. Thanks Jen, you're the best."
"No problem." She giggled.
"I'll let you know when all of this is resolved."
"Ok," She agreed. "I gotta go. I have to reopen the bakery." And with that she hung up.
In no time Jeremy, Damon and Stefan were waiting in the basement for Rebekah to arrive. "Hello, boys." Rebekah walked in with a young man. "I compelled him to obey so all you gotta do is kill him." She spoke offhandedly.
"Cool, no fighting." Jeremy smiled and picked up the stake.
"But," Rebekah held up a hand. "I want something in return from you Jeremy."
"Fine, whatever." Jeremy nodded.
"I want you to draw your mark. You'll have to kill vampires until the mark is something." She held out her hand.
"Deal." Jeremy shook the original's outstretched hand.
"He's all yours." She turned to the hybrid. "You're going to stand completely still no matter what." She compelled the young man and stood aside. "By the way Damon, you should know that Kol approached Jen again today. I guess he got tired of admiring from afar, and she sprayed vervain in his face. He's royally pissed I'm sure, so watch out." She warned
"Thanks for the heads up." Damon nodded at the blonde and she nodded in response before zooming out. "We have to figure out a way to stop Kol."
"We'll think of something." Stefan promised as Jeremy staked the hybrid.
"We have to." Damon slipped his hands in his pockets as the hybrid's skin turned gray.
Rebekah walked home thinking about everything that Jen had said to her and bumped into someone, quickly snapping her out of her thoughts. "Oh, I'm sorry." She looked up and saw the person she bumped into. "Hi, Matt."
"Hey, Rebekah." He smiled. "What's up?"
"Actually, I wanted to ask you something." Rebekah placed one of her blonde locks behind her ear.
"Sure." He shrugged.
"I was wondering if you'd go to prom with me." She blushed lightly.
"Yeah, I'd like that." His answer surprised Rebekah, but she smiled widely. "Great! I'll call you later tonight to get the details."
"No problem." Matt nodded and each headed their own way.
-PB-
"Kick the ball, honey." Jen yelled to JD, who was playing soccer in the backyard.
"I did it, Mommy!" He squealed upon kicking the ball into the goal.
"Yes, you did!" She clapped.
"Talented little tyke." The voice sent a chill down her spine.
"JD, go inside." She ordered as calmly as she could, feeling the presence come closer. "Mommy will be right in to get you a snack."
"Ok!" JD ran inside quickly.
"What are you doing here, Kol?" She turned around, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Well darling, it's time for your payment, isn't it?" Kol gave a crooked smile. She held up the vervain spray in order to repeat to do what she'd done before, but Kol caught her wrist. "Not this time." He gave a malicious smile and his face began turning.
"Please, Kol." Her brown eyes filled with fear. "Don't bite me, please!" She begged as dread overtook her body.
"But you smell so good." He pulled her close, holding her tightly in place and running his nose along her neck.
"No, no, no! Please!" She cried as tears began spilling from her eyes and she felt a sharp stabbing pain in her neck. "NO!" She screamed.
Kol began pulling her blood from her body as she sobbed. In a matter of minutes, Jen couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. Once her body was limp in his arms, Kol dropped her on the ground and zoomed away.
Damon and Stefan walked in the house after dropping Elena off at Caroline's to get ready for the prom and grabbing something to eat at the Grill. Damon walked into the kitchen expecting to find Jen there as always, but instead he found JD sitting there alone. "Hey kiddo, where's your mom?"
"Mommy's outside in the backyard. She was acting funny when she sent me inside." JD answered and Damon's eyes narrowed. "Is everything ok, Daddy?"
Damon said nothing, but ran into the backyard. "Jen?" He called out, looking around. He saw her laying pale on the grass. "Jen!" He ran over and he could smell Kol on her. "Shit!" He saw the 2 puncture wounds with a rip between them on her neck that were leaking some blood. He licked the wounds, removing the dried blood. "Stefan!" He screamed out desperately, placing his fingers on the pulse point on her neck.
Stefan came out with JD hot on his heels. "Damon, what happened?"
"Daddy, what's wrong with Mommy?" Tears filled the little boy's blue eyes.
"Her pulse is weak, Stef. Kol came by." He explained briefly, not wanting to scare JD even more.
"Daddy, is Mommy ok?" JD tried to run over to his parents.
"No." Damon held up his hand, but JD didn't stop. "Grab him, Stef. I have to take her to the hospital and you follow with JD in your car." Damon picked Jen up and carried her to his car. After placing her in the back, he sped to the hospital and had Jen checked in.
Twenty minutes later Stefan arrived with JD and found his brother sitting in the waiting room. "Is she ok? What did he do?" Stefan asked desperately.
Damon stood up and took his crying son from his brother's arms. "Hey, kiddo." He kissed his head. "Mommy will be ok. I promise."
"Do you really promise, Daddy?" JD looked up, red-faced from crying.
"I promise." Damon repeated. "Now I need you to sit here while Uncle Stef and I talk." He placed JD on the chair and pulled Stefan aside. "He nearly drained her dry, Stef. I'm not letting this happen again." His face contorted with rage and guilt. "I'm gonna have Jeremy kill Kol."
"What?" Stefan's eyes widened. "Are you insane?"
"No, I'm serious." Damon glared. "If Jeremy kills Kol, then every vampire from his line dies and the map will be complete. Rebekah will get what she wants and so do we."
"It's not bad, but do you actually think that Rebekah wants her brother dead?" Stefan asked. "She and Klaus will be super pissed."
"But Jen will be safe." Damon reminded. "Rebekah will understand that, and she'll talk to Klaus."
"I guess." Stefan rubbed the back of his head.
"We'll talk about this later." Damon walked back to JD, sitting next to the toddler.
"I'll go get his bag downstairs in the car." Stefan started heading out.
"Aren't you supposed to be going to the prom?" Damon asked looking at his watch. "It's about to start."
"Of course not." Stefan glared. "The prom is not as important as this, Damon." He walked out fuming. 'How could suggest for me to leave him and JD waiting, and go to the prom?' In no time he returned with JD's backpack and sat next to his brother. "Now what?" He asked his big brother.
"Now, we wait." Damon answered with a sighed.
-PB-
Elena paced around with Bonnie and Caroline. "Guys, he's not here." She groaned. "I've looked everywhere. He told me he'd be here."
"Maybe something happened." Bonnie suggested, placing a hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Yeah, this isn't like Stefan at all, 'Lena." Caroline agreed with a nod, her curls bouncing with the movement. "Did you try calling him?"
"Yeah, but he didn't answer." Elena responded with a sigh as Rebekah walked up with Matt.
"Where's your date, Elena?" Rebekah asked tauntingly. "Did he get tired of you whining and leave or did Stefan get smart and not even bother showing up?"
"Be nice, Rebekah." Matt admonished as Elena shot her a glare.
"That's it." Elena pulled out her phone. "I'm calling Damon."
"To find Stefan or replace Stefan?" Rebekah smirked, earning a growl from the young brunette.
"Damon?" Elena asked once Damon answered. "Hey do you know where Stefan is?"
"Why?" Damon asked in an annoyed tone.
"Because he isn't here and he isn't answering his phone." She snapped, earning a chuckle from the sarcastic vampire.
"Hold on." Damon said, followed by some rustling.
"Elena?" Stefan's voice rang from the phone.
"Stefan!" She let out a sigh of relief. "What happened? Where are you? Why didn't you show up?"
"I'm at the hospital with Damon and JD." He answered. "Oh Elena, I gotta go. The doctor's here." He hung up before she could respond with anything.
"What did he say?" Bonnie asked, curiously.
"Where is he?" Caroline asked, not having tuned in her ears to listen to the conversation. "This music made it hard for me to focus."
"He and Damon are at the hospital with JD." She responded.
"Why?" Rebekah and Caroline asked in unison.
"He didn't say." Elena sighed. "He hung up before I could ask."
"Well I don't know about you, but this prom was lame anyways." Rebekah states picking up the bottom of her dress and walking away.
"Where are you going?" Caroline asked, looking at her fellow blonde oddly.
"To find out why the hell those 2 are at the hospital." Rebekah answered in a duh voice.
"Oh wait!" Caroline picked up her dress. "I'm coming too." She scurried off behind Rebekah.
Bonnie and Elena looked at each other. "Us too!" They yelled together, following Caroline.
"Hey, I'm coming too!" Matt followed.
Noticing all of his friends rushing towards the exit, Jeremy set off after them. "Hey, where are you guys going?"
"To the hospital!" Bonnie yelled back.
"Why?" He frowned.
"Damon and Stefan are there!" Caroline yelled as they got in to the limo they'd rented.
"Hey, wait for me!" He yelled running after them scrambling into the car.
Thirty minutes later, the chauffer pulled up in front of the hospital and looked upon the exiting teenagers oddly.
"Hey," Rebekah called out his attention. "Go park the limo and wait until we get back."She compelled the driver, who nodded and obeyed.
They all rushed inside and stopped at the receptionist. "Excuse me," Caroline smiled at the young woman, who was looking at all of them like they were crazy. "Yes, we look fabulous." Caroline rolled her eyes. "We're looking for 2 young men with a little boy, and one of them looks just like one of them."
"I'm sorry, miss. You'll have to be more specific." The receptionist shook her head.
"Tall and handsome man in a leather jacket that has black hair and blue eyes with a toddler that looks just like him, and a handsome young man with green eyes." Caroline explained in an exasperated tone.
"Oh yes." The receptionist smiled. "They're in the Emergency Room's waiting room."
"Thank you." Caroline smiled, and they all made their way there.
"What are you guys doing here?" Stefan looked at them confused as he stood up holding JD.
"We wanted to know why you guys were here." Elena answered. "Where's Damon?" She looked around.
"He's talking to the doctor." Stefan answered.
"So why exactly are you here?" Rebekah asked, running a hand on JD's hair.
"Mommy got hurt." JD answered with a sniffle.
"What?" Caroline's jaw dropped. "What happened?"
"Kol." Stefan answered to look at Rebekah.
"That son of a-" Rebekah began only to stop herself. "I can't believe this. What did he do?"
Before Stefan could answer, Damon walked back in. "What the hel-heck?" He edited himself. "Where did you people come from?"
"Daddy!" JD reached for him. "How's mommy?"
Damon pulled JD into his arms. "She's gonna be ok." He smiled at his son. "You can see her as soon as she wakes up, ok?"
"Ok."The toddler nodded and his father placed him back on the ground. "Go sit down so Daddy can talk to Uncle Stef and the other grown-ups." He pointed to the chair that Stefan had been previously sitting in. JD walked back and sat down as the adults gathered around Damon.
"So what did the doctor say?" Stefan asked on everyone's behalf.
"She was drained nearly completely by your," He turned to Rebekah, "psychotic brother. Explaining how to the doctor was a pain, but relatively easy since I wasn't even home. I told him that Jen was alone with our three year old son when she sent him inside and when I came home she was unconscious in our backyard. He's ruling it as an animal attack." He explained, running a hand through his raven locks.
"So what now?"Caroline asked worriedly.
"She's going to go through a few blood transfusions, and is going to need a lot of bed rest." He answered. "Do you mind calling her boss and letting the old lady know what happened?"
"I'll call her tomorrow morning." Caroline said with a nod. "She's gonna be ok, right?"
"Yeah," Damon nodded. "She'll be fine, just no more Scooby gang coming over for dinner almost every night because I'm sure as hell not cooking for any of you and Jen won't be able to for about a week or two."
"Mr. Salvatore?" A nurse called from behind him, and Damon turned to look at her. "Since your fiancée is unconscious, we need you to sign some paperwork to permit the transfusions."
"Ok, I'll be right there." He responded and she walked away.
"Fiancée?" Elena crossed her arms and arched an eyebrow.
"She has no family here and we have a kid together." He grinned. "Seemed believable to me."
"Whatever." Elena rolled her eyes. Damon chuckled and walked away to sign the necessary paperwork.
"Why don't you guys go home and change?" Stefan suggested as he walked back to his nephew. "Jen won't be awake until she gets the transfusion."
"Uncle Stef, what's a transflushun?" JD looked at him with concern.
"A transfusion is going to help your mommy get better." Stefan answered, ruffling his hair.
"That's a great idea, Stefan." Caroline smiled. "We'll be back in no time." She and the others began walking away just as Damon was returning.
"Jeremy, wait up!" He called out to the young hunter as the others kept walking.
"What is it?" Jeremy looked back at him.
Damon walked up and made sure that the others were far enough away. "I want you to kill Kol. Stefan and I already came up with the plan. You have to kill him before Jen gets discharged because I know she'll be traumatized for a bit. This wasn't the first time she's been fed on." Damon explained. "Stefan is gonna go home with JD after he gets to see Jen while I stay here with her. You stay at the boarding house tonight and he'll explain it to you."
"Ok, but won't Rebekah and Klaus be pissed off?" Jeremy arched an eyebrow.
"We'll deal with it. It shouldn't be too hard since Jen and Barbie Klaus are so close and Rebekah wants the mark complete. Don't worry." Damon assured.
"Fine," Jeremy nodded. "I'll talk to Stefan tonight."
"Thanks, Baby Gilbert." Damon patted him on the shoulder.

Caroline was walking into her house after having been dropped off by the limo when she found Klaus waiting on her porch.
"Klaus." She breathed out in surprise.
"There you are, lovely." He gave a charming smile.
"Uh," She blushed. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you of course." He walked over to her. "You look positively stunning."
"Thank you." She tried to ignore the butterflies in her stomach.
"I was wonder, Caroline, if you would allow me to accompany you to the Founder's Ball?" He asked in a smooth voice.
"Uh," She stuttered as the butterflies became too much to ignore. She thought about the talk that she'd had with Jen a while back. "I-I'd love to, Niklaus." She gave a tentative smile.
"Wonderful." He responded, a bit surprised with her answer. He was sure that she'd say no. 'What changed her mind?' He asked himself. "I'll be off then. Good night, Caroline." He kissed her cheek.
"Good night, Klaus." She smiled with a blush adorning her cheeks.

Damon was on the guest's chair by Jen's bed. She had spent the night going through transfusions, and by nine he sent JD home with Stefan. He could hear her heart rate picking up and knew she'd be waking soon.
"Ung…" She groaned and he saw her eyes flutter open.
"Hey," He spoke in a soft voice. "How ya feeling?" He ran a hand on her forehead.
"Damon?" She asked as her eyes focused on the gorgeous vampire in front of her.
"Of course, who else would it be?" He asked sarcastically.
"What happened?" She tried to sit up, but her muscles didn't obey. It was like her body was too heavy for her.
"Hold on there." Damon lay her down and pushed the button on the bed for it to move into a sitting position. "You're too weak, and had to get a blood transfusion because Kol almost drained you dry." He explained with a bit of shame. "I'm really sorry I wasn't there to keep you safe." He lowered his gaze.
"It's ok." She rested her hand on his. "I'm alive and I'll be fine, but what about Kol?"
Damon could see the fear in her brown eyes. "Don't worry. It'll be taken care of by the time you get discharged. I promise." He leaned forward and kissed her forehead.
"Mommy!" JD walked in with his uncle and, ran to his mother's bedside.
"Hey, baby." She smiled at her little boy. "I'm so glad to see you. Hey. Stef." She smiled at him.
"Hey, Jen." He smiled back.
"I'm so glad you're ok, Mommy." He grinned. "Daddy promised you would be, but I was still scared."
"Will you put him on the bed so I can hug my baby?" Jen looked over at Damon.
He chuckled and placed their son on the bed. "Be careful. Mommy's really weak so don't hug her too tightly."
"I won't, Daddy." He promised and crawled into his mother's lap, hugging her lightly. "Is this ok, Mommy?"
"It's perfect, baby." She hugged him back.
"We're really glad you're ok." Stefan walked over to the side of the bed. "We were all pretty worried."
"Ok, buddy why don't you ask your mommy what we practiced yesterday?" Damon gave his son a smirk. "Do you remember?"
"I remember." JD nodded to his father and then turned to his mother. "Mother, would you permit father and me to accompany you to the Founder's Ball?"
Jen laughed. "I'd be delighted to be accompanied by you young Mr. Salvatore," She smiled at the toddler, "and Master Salvatore as well." She smiled at Damon.
"And we are honored to accompany you, Ms. Pierce." Damon responded with a smile of his own. "JD, why don't you and Uncle Stef go and buy Mommy some flowers for accepting our invitation to the ball?" Damon suggested giving his brother a look.
"Come on, kiddo." Stefan picked JD up and walked out with him.
"So if you're gonna accompany us to the ball, you're gonna have recuperate a little faster." Damon looked at her once Stefan and JD were gone. "I can give you a little bit of blood to recover at least some of your strength. You'll still need bed rest, but instead of 2 weeks out of commission, it'll be one and you'll be well enough to go to the ball." He explained. "Is that ok?"
"What if I die?" She asked. 'I do not want to be a vampire to spend eternity alone and watch the man I love in love with another.'
"You won't. The blood will be diluted in about 5 days. You'll be on bed rest nearly the entire time." Damon assured. "I won't let you die."
After a few minutes, she nodded her permission. "Ok."
"Ok." Damon smiled. He slipped off his leather jacket, transformed his face and bit his wrist. "Here." He brought his wrist to her mouth. "You have to hurry before it heals."
She placed her mouth on the bleeding wound and drank. It tasted just as she expected: metallic and salty. She pulled back. "Is that enough?" She asked wiping her mouth.
"Yeah," Damon nodded. "It's enough." He smiled and the wound began to heal, but he couldn't take his mind off of her bloodstained lips. 'I enjoyed that way more than I should've.' He scolded himself. He wouldn't play with Jen's feelings. 'I promised that I'd never do that to her.'
A buzz from his cellphone distracted him from his thoughts. He pulled it out and found a text from Jeremy.
