One Shocking Surprise: Heart of Stone Edition

A/N: this is my second and last V-Day OSS chap. I'm not totally sure about this one as an OSS, but it just feels right. Let me know if I am on the mark or not. This one is kind of long too. Much longer than my usual OSS chaps.

Naruto sighed as he sat on a hill looking at the flowing river. He was depressed that it was once again it was Valentine's Day and he had no one. Hell, everyone around him had someone really. He was depressed that he didn't know what hit him, literally.

"OW, what the heck?" he grumbled as he rubbed the back of his head.

He then looked down and saw it was a rock that had been throw at him. He was about to chuck when he noticed some writing on it. He looked at it closer.

Please meet me at the old bridge when the fireworks go off at 8.

Your Secret Admirer

"Who the hell throws a rock with a note etched in it?" Naruto asked out loud.

Then he got excited. Someone liked him. He didn't much care for their message delivery system, but that could be excuse this once.

"But who is it?" he asked himself.

All the girls he knew ran through his head.

/Scene Break/

Naruto began his search. His first stop was a the local flower shop.

"Welcome to the Yamanaka Flower shop, how may I- Oh, it's you Naruto" Ino said.

"Geez, that's how you treat customers Ino" Naruto said.

"Whatever, so what do you want Naruto, I'm kind of busy here" Ino said.

Naruto looked at the empty shop.

"Yeah, it's just bustling" Naruto commented sarcastically.

Ino just glared at Naruto.

"Anyway, I was wondering if you had anything to do with this rock" Naruto said as he showed Ino the rock that had hit him along with the note.

"Um, no. I don't throw rocks at you. If I want your attention I shout at you. And I didn't write the note" Ino said.

"Oh, okay" Naruto said looking a big down.

"Hey, cheer up. No one should be depressed today. I'll tell you what. I'll give you a bouquet of flowers for you to pick up before you whoever this person is at 8" Ino said.

"Thanks Ino" Naruto said with a smile.

"No problem Naruto" Ino said.

She then watched Naruto walk out and she shook her head. She had a good idea who had thrown the rock and wrote the note. But she had kept her mouth closed though since she knew the girl had planned on revealing their feelings today. She just decided to give her as bit of help.

/Scene Break/

Naruto was back on the search and went to find the next person he thought could've given him the note and thrown the rock.

"Hey Sakura!"

Sakura turned her head and sighed.

"No Naruto, I won't be your Valentine" she said automatically.

Naruto frowned at this. It hurt that would be the first thing she'd say to him.

"Is something wrong Naruto?" Sakura asked now worried.

"Huh, no, I guess not" Naruto mumbled.

Sakura though wasn't going to take that answer. She may not like Naruto like he had wanted her to like him, but she did care for him as a close friend.

"Come on, you can tell me. I am not like that blabbermouth Ino" she said.

/Scene Break/

Ino let out a sneeze as she was working on the bouquet she was going to give Naruto for the secret admirer.

"Someone must be talking about me" she mumbled, thank goodness I didn't have anything sharp in my hand she added on mentally.

/Scene Break/

"Well it's like this" Naruto began as he told Sakura and showed her the rock and the note.

Sakura frowned.

"Okay, not the way I'd do it, but I guess it worked. It got your attention" she said.

"Yeah, but I don't know who it is" Naruto said with a hint of a whine in his tone.

"Cheer up Naruto, you'll meet her tonight" Sakura said.

"Yeah, but I don't want to wait" Naruto pouted.

Sakura sighed.

"Well, I better go, thanks Sakura" Naruto said.

"Okay, see you Naruto" Sakura said.

/Scene Break/

Naruto's next girl was Hinata. He found her standing by a wishing well.

"Hey Hinata" he greeted.

"H-h-h-hi N-n-n-n-Naruto" Hinata stuttered out.

"So Hinata, I wanted to ask you something" Naruto started.

But before he could continue she fainted. Naruto sighed and shook his head. He had no clue why she always fainted around him. He could never have a conversation with her. She was a sweet and nice girl, but when around him she black out.

"Um, okay, I guess that's that" Naruto said then he picked her up and carried her to a nearby bench and set her on it then left.

/Scene Break/

The next girl on Naruto's list was Tenten. He found her at the local batting cage.

"Hey Tenten" he greeted.

He did this when he was sure that the ball machine was off so he didn't hurt Tenten at all.

"Hey Naruto, what's up?" Tenten asked as she pulled off her batting helmet.

Naruto was amazed that Tenten always wore her hair in twin buns no matter what and even wearing a batting helmet she didn't remove the buns. He then showed her the rock and note and Tenten shook her head.

"Wasn't me, I was here all day really. Training camp is coming up and I want to get ready for it" she said.

"Oh, alright" Naruto said with great disappointment that it was another dead end.

"Hey Naruto" Tenten said.

Naruto looked up.

"I am sure whoever this girl is who wrote this note probably really likes you. So when you meet her tonight give her a chance no matter who it is. She gathered a lot of confidence to do what she did today" Tenten said.

"I will and thanks Tenten" Naruto said then left.

/Scene Break/

Naruto sighed as he ran a hand through his short blond hair. He was running out girls he knew and that lived close to him and he could ask.

"Hey Naruto, why the long face?"

Naruto turned and blinked. He w as a bit surprised to see Temari standing there looking at him with a look of concern. He knew Temari since one of his best friends was Gaara and Temari was Gaara's older sister.

"Hey Temari, what are you doing here?" he asked.

"I came for the fireworks. Konoha has the best fireworks displays" Temari said.

Naruto nodded.

"So why the long face?" Temari asked reiterating her previous question.

Naruto told her about the rock and the note and showed her. Temari looked at it and read the note.

"Sounds like someone really likes you and wants you to know" Temari commented.

"Yeah, but who?" Naruto whined.

"Be patient Naruto, wait til the fireworks" Temari said.

Naruto grumbled.

"I got to go, see you" Temari said.

She then left and Naruto stood there. He suddenly cursed himself for not asking Temari if she was the one. But he lost his chance.

/Scene Break/

The day dragged on and soon it was getting close. Naruto sighed and went back to his place to get dressed up a bit for the fireworks. He'd give this person a chance. When he was done he headed to the flower shop and found Ino waiting for him.

"Hey Naruto, here's your flowers. Good luck" Ino said.

"Thanks Ino" Naruto said.

"You're welcome" Ino said.

Naruto headed out and looked at his watch. It read 7:50. He had enough time to get to meeting spot. So he left and Ino watched smiling.

/Scene Break/

Naruto got to the old bridge and was looking around hoping to catch a glimpse at whoever his admirer is.

"Naruto?"

Naruto turned and his jaw dropped. He had a look of total and utter shock and surprise. Standing there was none other than Kurotsuchi. She was the granddaughter of a major mining tycoon. Her brown hair was styled and her pink-pupiless eyes looked at him trying to show confidence she felt fleeing her. She was dressed in a red dress with pink accents and white frills on the edges.

"Kurotsuchi" Naruto said finally finding his voice.

"Hi, Naruto" Kurotsuchi said shyly.

"So, you're my secret admirer?" Naruto asked still stunned.

"Yes" Kurotsuchi said with crimson cheeks.

"Oh, um, here" Naruto said as he stuck his arm out that was holding the bouquet.

"Oh, thank you Naruto" Kurotsuchi said as she took the bouquet and smelled them. The bouquet was made up of all of her favorite flowers.

Soon the whizzing and banging of the fireworks going off was heard and the two looked up at the dazzling display in the sky. The sky was just dark enough to show off the fireworks brilliant colors.

Kurotsuchi side-stepped to stand by Naruto. Naruto stood there looking up. Her hand snuck into his and Naruto looked at her and smiled as he held her hand. Kurotsuchi smiled.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Naruto" Kurotsuchi said.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Kurotsuchi" Naruto said.
