There goes my heart beating

'Cause you are the reason

I'm losing my sleep

Please come back now

He was laying awake, regretting what he had told her. He loved her, he really did but he felt that he wasn't good for her. Lexie was young and beautiful. But she was also a loving person that didn't deserve to have her heart broken.

But he had and now he wished more than anything that he hadn't.

And there goes my mind racing

And you are the reason

That I'm still breathing

I'm hopeless now

"I'm no good for you." He had told her.

"Mark, please, don't do this." Lexie had begged him. He knew he was hurting her but still he walked out, closing the door behind him as she stood there. Tears streaming down her cheeks.

I'd climb every mountain

And swim every ocean

Just to be with you

And fix what I've broken

He reached over, running his fingers over the pillow that used to be her side of the bed. He wanted to protect her from himself. He sighed softly, trying to picture Lexie laying there next to him. He could see her rolled over onto her stomach with her hair covering her face like he had found her most nights.

Oh, 'cause I need you to see

That you are the reason

There goes my hand shaking

And you are the reason

He reached over for his phone, scrolling through his contacts until he came across her name. He debated on calling her. He needed to hear her voice. But how could he do that to her? How could he just call her after the way he ended things. She didn't deserve that.

He sat his phone back on the nightstand before sighing again. He looked out the window watching the rain steadily coming down, wishing he knew what she was doing.

Had she already moved on? He wouldn't have blamed her. She deserves better than what he could've given her, in his opinion.

My heart keeps bleeding

I need you now

If I could turn back the clock

I'd make sure the light defeated the dark

I'd spend every hour of every day

Keeping you safe

He wished he could take it back. He didn't know it would be this hard to not have her beside him.

He had never felt anything for anyone like he did for Lexie. He loved her and it was because of that he let her go.

He had always heard the term if you love them, let them go and if they come back then it was meant to be and he took that to heart. He was a player, he knew it and so did everything else. In his mind, Lexie didn't deserve that. She didn't deserve him.

And I'd climb every mountain

And swim every ocean

Just to be with you

And fix what I've broken

Oh, 'cause I need you to see

That you are the reason, oh

(I don't wanna fight no more)

(I don't wanna hurt no more)

(I don't wanna cry no more)

(Come back, I need you to hold me closer now)

He heard a knock at the door, slowly he opened it. His heart stopped when he saw her. Still dressed in her sleek black nightgown, her face tear stained as her breathing was heavy.

They stood there, staring at each other for a moment before he reached out bringing Lexie into his arms as she started sobbing against his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry." Mark whispered softly against her hair as he held her in his arms.

"I know." Lexie said softly as her crying subsided. "I love you." She said with a light smile.

"I love you, too." Mark said, smiling back. Leaning in, he gave her a soft kiss, never letting her go. "Let's go to bed." Mark whispered.

You are the reason, oh

(Just a little closer now)

(Come a little closer now)

(I need you to hold me tonight)

She was wrapped up in his arms, her tears finally dry.

"I was wrong." He admitted.

"Please, I can't live without you, Mark. I don't ever want to." Lexie whispered.

"Never again, Lex. It's you and me till the end. We're meant to be."

"Meant to be." Lexie said with a smile as they fell asleep, wrapped in each other's embrace.

I'd climb every mountain

And swim every ocean

Just to be with you

And fix what I've broken

'Cause I need you to see

That you are the reason
