That happiness was short lived however when some water close by began to darken and bubble. Suddenly, a long tentacle shot out and grabbed Melodious from his father's arms!
"Melodious!" Aaron cried.
A creature with white hair, green skin, and the lower half of an octopus appeared and gave an all too familiar laugh.
"Urson's crazy brother!" Sabrina gasped.
"A party? And I wasn't invited? Oh I hope I didn't miss the cake and ice cream, did I?" he laughed.
"Morgan!" Tritana growled and powered up her trident, "Surrender that baby or I'll-"
"Nuh-uh-uh," Morgan warned, holding up for all to see.
Tritana realized she couldn't do it. If she fired at Morgan, Melodious could get hurt! Luckily, the baby didn't seem like he was in any stress. In fact, he thought it was one big game as he cooed and laughed and waved his arms in the air, having a great time.
"Urson would have simply loved to have come," Morgan went on as he climbed up the ship, "but something came up. Now-now what was it again? Oh yes. You all SHISH-KABBED HIM! One minute, you're in power! The next, you're sushi."
Morgan decided to show up after he too heard of Melodious' birth, so he decided to get back at those who killed his brother by getting their weak and defenseless baby and finishing what Urson started.
"Oh Undertow!" Morgan called.
A giant great white shark emerged from the depths and plowed through any who was in her way.
"Make way, little mer-shrimp! I'm comin' through!" she yelled in a gruff voice. When she was right under Morgan, she opened her mouth wide, showing all her razor sharp teeth as Morgan held the baby over her.
"Now hand over the trident or your precious grandson will be shark chow!" he threatened.
Aaron and Erica looked as if they were about to have a heart attack. They wanted to save Melodious, but they couldn't risk it.
"You can have anything you want. Just don't harm little Melodious," Tritana said.
"Well, well. I get the trident, revenge poor unfortunate Urson, and gain all the powers of the ocean in one day! And it's not even 10:00 yet," he laughed, "Not a bad morning."
As Morgan talked, Aaron noticed his sword on his belt and a rope connected to the mast right next to him. This gave him an idea. With quick thinking, he unsheathed his sword and cut the rope.
"Hit the deck!" Erica called.
Everyone ducked their heads down as the mast swung and hit Morgan. His grip loosened and the baby went flying through the air.
Morgan fell back into the water and on top of his manta rays. He was stopped, but Melodious was still in danger! He began to fall down to where Undertow still had her mouth wide open! Tritana stopped her with the power of her trident and shrinking to 10x her size.
"What have you done to me?! Look at me! I'm an anchovy!" she cried.
Before Aaron could fear Melodious hitting the water, Erica swung in on some rope and rescued their baby.
"Melodious!" Aaron cried as Erica returned with him.
"It's ok, Sweetie! We're here! Mommy and Daddy got you!" Erica soothed. But the baby didn't have a care in the world. He still had a big smile on his face from what he thought was a super fun game.
"You'll pay for this, Tritana! This isn't the end! It's just the beginning!" Morgan threatened. The water around him began to grow dark with ink as he spun around with his loyal henchmen swimming inside.
"After him!" Tritana ordered her guards.
"You'll never find me! But I'll find you, your son, and your precious grandson too!" he threatened and disappeared in a cloud of ink.
"We shall not stop until that mad man is vanquished!" Tritana declared, "Find him! FIND HIM!" A flash of lightning lit up the sky from Queen Tritana's wrath.
All mer-folk left in search of Morgan while Aaron and the rest of the ship returned to shore. Hopefully, his mother would find Morgan and Melodious would be safe. If not, he would have to make a very difficult decision.
The sun began to set when Aaron and Erica got word Queen Tritana had returned with an update. Flowers and rose petals washed up on shore as she swam up to her son and daughter-in-law while Melodious was playing in the sand.
"I'm sorry," she apologized , "There is no sign of him. He's vanished. But don't worry. We'll keep looking. We'll-"
"Son, no."
Aaron picked Melodious up when he started to crawl into the water. This news was very upsetting. He had hoped they would find Morgan and they could put this day behind them, but with Morgan still out there, Melodious was still in danger.
"Oh we have to keep Melodious away from him! Until Morgan is found, Melodious can't go into the sea," he declared, "And neither will I."
"But," Flounder whimpered, "Aaron-"
"I'm sorry, Flounder! But if Morgan is anything like Urson, he'll never give up! This is the only way. Melodious can't know about merpeople or Atlantica...or even you, Mom."
He took off Melodious' locket and gave it to his mother. Her heart broke to hear this, but knew it was for the best. She would do anything to protect the people she loved.
"Very well, Aaron. You're right," she said.
This was the hardest thing Aaron had to do in his whole life. If there was another way, he would do it. But this just seemed like the only solution.
They all went their separate ways with Aaron and Erica heading back home with Melodious and Tritana back into the water, but not before turning to Sabrina.
"Sabrina, you will watch over him," she told her.
"Me? Awww!" she groaned. Not again!
Tritana looked back and saw Melodious peeking over his father's shoulder at her. She was going to miss him so much. She looked at the locket before letting it fall from her hand into the sea.
