Chapter 2 . Intro in Bat
Author's Note: Many of you may have noticed the names Frisk and Chara, as the main characters in Undertale, but I want to tell you that it's not a crossover - the characters' names are somewhat of the symbology of their part in this story, so don't expect to see Sans or Papyrus or other Undertale characters, having said that I want you to know that I am Italian so I translate my stories with the computer so if there are errors it's not my fault, having said that enjoy the new chapter
to dream
I walked in the woods angry at how Chara replied to me, I hated that Chara was so disinterested in others, I was ready to say I would never speak to her again when she heard a voice calling me, it was Chara running after me
"what do you want Chara ? "
I said snorting, but with her usual playful chuckle she said
" you offend me if you act like this, I just ran to come and apologize and you treat me like this, it's not like that Frisk "
I watched her as a smile formed on the my face, after all Chara was made so she can't resist seeing me angry who immediately apologizes
"okay I forgive you on condition that you come with me to tell my grandfather the truth about our absence from school"
she smiles again but at the same time a little angry
"we didn't do anything wrong in my opinion, but since your birthday is okay, I'll say it's my fault so you won't get in trouble"
I was surprised by Chara, but basically I was happy that had taken the its responsibility
"shall we go then?"
said Chara Reaching out his hand, I approached with mine to grab it, when everything went black and from the darkness reappeared those giant bats laughing badly, with their blood red eyes and obsidian teeth, grabbed Chara, pushing her away from me
"no !"
I screamed running towards them to try to save my friend, when something grabbed my ankles preventing me, I looked down to see what it was, my eyes widened in horror I saw that they were the corpses of bats rotting, with sharp fangs and empty eye sockets and they saw a hole in the heart area, they were zombies and prevented me from advancing towards those three, from a distance the female is heard saying
"don't worry about our young lady we will take care of her, her fate and much more glorious than yours , human goodbye "
" NO! ! "
I shouted trying to free myself from the zombies, I pulled and pulled until their rotten arms detached, I started running trying to catch him, as I ran I saw Chara struggling to free himself " take my your lousy hand off me ! flying mouse ! "
She fought until she managed to free a hand that reached out to me for help, I raised mine ready to grab it, I ran to get closer, those three annoyed by my insistence they flew higher to keep us from touching, but I did not give up, I jumped and managed to get there to Chara's hand, but I only managed to touch her fingertips and then fell, as I fell I saw Chara disappear into thin air with those three.
I open my eyes in fear, I feel my heart beating hard in my chest, it took me about 5 minutes to recover from the shock, I breathed slowly realizing it was just a dream and I needed to calm down, but the memories of last night me came back to mind, the book, the tunnel and "Chara!" I immediately looked up with a single thought in my head
"I have to find Chara, I have to bring her back"
but it was there that I noticed that I was no longer in the woods near my city
"but where? .. where am I?"
I looked around but it didn't look like any place I'd seen before
"where that voice took me, how can I find Chara and go home?"
I said a little angry about everything that happened, why did I help that bat !? I couldn't just follow the path !?, If I didn't now I wouldn't be in this situation and Chara wouldn't be carried away!
but in the end it wouldn't have helped me to complain now what's done is done doesn't change
I got up, but it was there that I felt a strong cold wind that freezes my shoulder, legs and everything else, I crossed my arms to try to warm myself, but how is it possible that it is so cold we are in June at early summer, I looked around noticing that the trees were bare and dry as in October, but this was impossible.
I started walking towards the wood when I noticed that the closer I got the more it seems to me that the trees became bigger, I stopped for a moment to observe the area well, the grass seemed taller than normal and the bushes looked exaggeratedly large, I started to scare me, a thought crosses my mind and fear starts to rise up my spine
"no, it can't be" I thought widening my eyes, it was possible that it wasn't the huge forest but it was me small
I was immersed in my pernsieri when I heard a sound coming behind me like the screech of a bird, I turned to see a huge owl approaching me, I screamed in the air at the sight of the huge animal that I lowered my eyes. claws towards me, I managed to dodge it before it grabbed me and jerked to the right, but I tripped to do it, I fell to the ground and the owl took advantage to try to recover, was this the end of me? devoured by a huge owl?, I thought seeing it approaching above me, he let out a loud cry to grab me, with its huge beak
"AAAAAHHH !" I screamed, covering my eyes as I prepared for his attack.
But I never get there.
Something grabbed my arms and carried me into the air, I was too scared to see what it was but I looked down, we were very high and we were flying fast or at least enough not to be followed by that owl that appears to be gone
a slight smile appeared on my face
that unfortunate bird remains without dinner I thought, laughing softly.
My mysterious savior took me to a huge dry tree and gently landed me on a large branch
"are you okay?" said a boy's voice, I turned and saw him he was a tall silver wing like me with blonde hair like his fur on his chest, his skin was blue with clear eyes that resembled a celestial, he surprised me because seeing me in silence repeats the questions
"are you okay? Did it hurt you?"
the voice came out of his mouth was he talking?, despite everything I've been through I don't stop surprising me
"are you okay?"
he asked again "eh .. sorry, I'm fine thanks to you" I said trying to recover
"thank goodness ... those owls" he said angrily "they are just a bunch of bullies and presumptuous" I snort thinking about this owl
"anyway thanks for saving me, if I had not intervened I would have become his dinner "
I saw him blush as he scratched his head in embarrassment" of nothing "then he walked over to me and said" I'm Shade Silverwing and you? "
"I'm Serena Frisker but everyone calls me Frisk"
"Oh Frisk, it's a really nice name"
he said smiling "thank you too, yours is very kind" he looked at me carefully and then with a curious face he asked me
"sorry if I ask you but .. what animal are you?"
I replied "I'm a human" but he replied smiling
"it's not possible, human beings are gigantic and scary creatures, instead you are small and strange, but nice"
I sat down and told him calmly "is a long story, but from to do to you in short, a mysterious entity has chosen me for some mysterious task and has made me so "
looks at me with an incredulous expression" it seems impossible, it's not like you hit your head "
" believe me I wish it was all a dream , because it would explain why I'm like that and why "a thought comes to mind" Chara! .. oh no I forgot about her "
" who is Chara? "Shade asked me confused," is my best friend she was kidnapped by three huge bats even bigger than you "I said quickly that I was without fia to "Frisk calm down"
Shade said approaching me and putting a hand on his shoulder "you're definitely upset, now calm down and tell me everything"
I listened to him and started to tell him the story from the beginning To the end of how we went to the park until when the mysterious events of the book and the tunnel happened, I also told him about the voice that had chosen me and ended up in this mysterious place.
When the story ended Shade was speechless his face was a mixture of surprise and disbelief
"so you are like this for this reason"
"yes and now I'm who knows where, in a forest of who knows what place in the world, while my friend who knows where and I ... I have no idea where to go "
I said starting to cry for everything, I felt like a lost child looking for mum, feel Shade put a hand on my shoulder and with a reassuring voice

I thought about it, I don't know anything about this colony or Shade, but what other choice do I have? I have no idea where I am and where I should go, at least if I am with Shade for a while I can have time to think and find a way to resolve my situation, I turned to him and said "okay" Shade he smiled happily and excited for my answer

he said giving me a lot of hope, he took me from his arms with his feet and took me flying with him

the owl looked at Shade as he carried Frisk away, angry but I don't think much about it, I think the miniature human he had just seen, couldn't believe his eyes, how could it be that there was a human as big as a mouse? he wondered but only one thing he knew he had to do

Pov Frisk
we flew for about 10 minutes and during this time I took advantage of it to close my eyes so as to rest a bit, when you hear Shade say
"we are here"
open your eyes and I saw a huge tree leaning on a cliff
"do you live there? " I said in amazement "yes ,Frisk welcome to Tree Haven" Shade replied.
We landed at the foot of the tree where we saw a female Silverwing with long orange hair with yellow fur fumes, who was waiting for someone, Shade gently landed me and approached the female
"hello mom"
the female approached worried to him
"Shade duties finished? it's almost dawn you could risk it, the owls are around"
then he noticed me and with a surprised look he said "who are you?" Shade beckoned me to come closer "mom , she is Frisk, Frisk, she is my mom Ariel, mom I found it in the woods, it's a human "Ariel gasped in surprise
" a human!? But it's not possible "
" I know it's a long story "I said rolling my eyes
" mother Frisk is alone, her friend has been kidnapped and she is completely lost, can we keep her with us for a while? "
Ariel I seem sorry for me, but she replied" Shade, she is a human and the colony will never agree to keep her here "
" but Frisk she has no one, Frida would help her "Ariel thinks about it and then approaches and says calmly
"Frisk listen to me, I will try to convince the elders to let you stay, wait a bit with Shade inside the tree"
I nodded, follow Shade and Ariel inside the tree, I started hearing various sounds some sounded like quittii that gradually they became inaudible voices which became more and more understandable, before I realized we were inside the tree, it was much bigger and more spacious than I thought and it was full of bats, I was amazed by everything I saw in front of me, some bats they noticed me and have and started looking at me from afar and whispering about me to each other, I ignored them continuing to follow Shade and her mother, we stopped shortly after
"wait here" said Ariel getting up in flight flying upwards, I looked at her go and go to the top with a bit of concern
"don't worry, everything will be fine" I console Shade with a reassuring smile, I smile back to thank him "eh ruth" said a masculine voice hile similar to that of a boy but slightly deeper than that of Shade, we turned to see another young silver wing landing by us, he is taller than Shade with a much stronger and leaner build, with the blue hair with a crest that got me back Elvis, He land next to us and approaches Shade, the latter glares at him for the way he called him
"where were you?" he said with a mocking smile "I'll leave you alone for a moment and disappear into thin air?"
"Chinook leave me alone"
"what embarrasses you, don't tell me you're lost?"
I looked at him frowning, I could not stand the bullies that they take with others and this Chinook was already beginning to dislike him for how he behaved
"come on, you must not be embarrassed ruth"
at that I decided to intervene, I approached the two and I said harshly turning to Chinook "don't talk to him that way! He was saving me from an owl!" Chinook looks at me surprised to see me, surely he didn't imagine seeing a human like me
"Chinook she Frisk, we met in the forest an owl wanted to eat her"
the older boy looked at Shade and said in a mocking voice
"you want me to believe that you saved her life, you?"
I intervened saying" it is so
"but he replied smiling" small and fragile as you are, I doubt it and more likely the opposite has happened "
" it is true instead! " Shade defended himself.
I was ready to intervene when we heard voices interrupt us, we looked up and saw Ariel with three other bats
"guys, that's enough" said an older female, she was tall with white hair and fur little maroncina and on my arm I saw a metallic silver band,
"you don't have to fight each other, you should just be ashamed" we looked down as a sign of apology, that female later said to us
"Frisk, the human" I raised my face
"yes?" I said looking at her
"come closer" She exclaim, I hesitated but Shade took my hand and beckoned me to go, I sighed, letting go of her hand and approached the three
Once I was face to face with her I lowered my face embarrassed
"it is true what Ariel told me, you really lost your friend and you are lost"
she asked me in a calm voice "yes" I answered
"and tell me why are you little, daughter? "
I remained silent not knowing how to answer this question sure that they would have thought me crazy if I told them
" speak freely, do not be afraid child "he told me to reassure me a younger bald male with a beard blue
"even if I said veil, you would never believe me"
but the female with a smile caresses my face
"don't be afraid and tell me, if you tell the truth you don't have to fear anything"
at those words I took courage, I took a deep breath and I begin to explain
"it all started because I saved a bat from a trap, but that bat was not normal it was some kind of entity, who told me that" I was worthy "I don't know what it meant but you follow it to a tree where there was a book and when it was I open it, Chara and I ended up in a rainbow tunnel where three huge and scary bats took my friend somewhere, but as I floated the entity spoke to me again and told me that he had chosen me for a task saving the northern forests , then I fainted and when I woke up I found myself here "
I ended the story, I could see many bats talking to each other wondering if what I said was the truth or the madness,
" Frida you won't believe the words of this human and clearly a fake "said a shorter and fatter female, addressing the taller one named Frida, I was afraid she thought so too but instead she approached me and asked me

I answered" yes, Nocturnia "
as soon as I said that name there was a deadly silence and many bats looked at me in disbelief
" did you say Nocturnia? "The male asked me
" yes this is the name I heard before I passed out, why? do you know her? "
Frida approached me and said" oh my girl, Nocturnia is the goddess of the night who protects us all "
" a goddess !? "I exclaimed in shock
" yes, are you sure that was the name you heard? "
" I'm sure "I replied
Frida sighed and answered" very well, wait here, we will meet to decide what to do"
Frida and the other two climbed to the top of a branch and applauded them to speak calmly, since we could not hear the their talk for how high they were but deep inside I was afraid they would take me for a fool and send me away
Shade approached taking me gently by the shoulders, approaching me if
"don't worry you'll see that Frida won't send you away and Mercury supports her in her decision"
he said to calm my mind "and the other female?" "Batsheba? Leave her alone, she doesn't like anyone outside the colinia, don't give us too much importance" i nodded ,thinking maybe I worried too much "ok I'll do as you suggest" she smiled at me blushing a little.
It didn't take long for Frida, Mercury and Bathsheba to come back to us, they landed next to me and Shade holding my hand to calm me down "Frisk we decided" Mercury said, I bit my lip waiting for the answer, Frida came over, I hear the tension build up inside me, I have never endured saspen and now more than ever I feared the worst, but she looked at me and with a smile replied
"you can stay"
I opened my eyes wide smiling "seriously"
"we still don't know if your story is completely true but for sure there is a reason why you are here and until we find out what it is you can stay with us for a while "
I was very happy and in a moment of euphoria I hugged Frida as she thanked
"thanks thanks thanks!" but I immediately understood it was embarrassing, I left her calmly and red with shame "sorry" Frida I look at me for a moment surprised but then I smile "not at all" then she turned to Ariel and said
"tell me Ariel, okay if Frisk is with you and your son "Ariel looks at Shade who looks at her as if to say" please yes "she smiles with shame and they said
" sure, I think she and Shade will get along very well "Shade and I were very happy of the decision
"now Silverwing is dawn it's time to go to sleep" said Mercury to all the Silverwings on the tree, I saw them fly on the inner branches of the tree inviting them to sleep
"come on Shade, Frisk it's time to go to sleep for us too "said Ariel taking off, Shade took me from my arms and took me with them to their perch, but as I flew I saw Bathsheba look at me with spite as if she hated me, I shook my head remembering what she said to me Shade, I ignored it, turned my head and looked in front of am and looking at the area, I saw many bats together, surely they were families and lovers resting together I found them very tender and fascinated, I left my thoughts when we reached a dark area where the sunlight was barely visible, Ariel had already perched on a root
"come on Shade come to sleep"
Shade I lay under them and went to rest upside down hugging his mother
"good rest Frisk" I said to myself Shade looking upside down
"good rest Shade"
Shade and Ariel closed their eyes starting to fall asleep and I watched mother and son as they fell into a deep sleep and quiet, after making sure they slept well, i curled up on myself to try to sleep, never slept during the day but i was so tired from all the emotions and events of recent times that i fell asleep right away
in the dream
"hey Frisk ... Frisk?"
do you hear my own voice calling me
"who's there?"
"it's me Frisk ... it's you"
"what?"
"don't you remember you saved me from the trap, thanks for that"
"I don't understand how you can be me?"
you hear her chuckle and then she says
"don't you remember in the tunnel? I entered you, I'm a part of you Frisk it was Nocturnia who created me to advise and guide you in case of need, I'm your new body"
I was completely confused
" body? What do you mean? I don't understand? "
" you will soon understand, being small is not the only thing that has changed in you and you will soon understand, remember if you feel my help touch the amulet and ask for my help "
I saw a light from my chest it was the amulet I was wearing before I ended up here
"just that"
"wait if Nocturnia created you then you know what happened to Chara, where is she!? .. where ..."
Pov third person
Shade woke up hearing the moans coming from Frisk, looked down and saw the girl fidget, move back and forth and talk in her sleep
"do you know where Chara? Where? Tell me, tell me"
Shade came out of her mother's arms carefully, she didn't want risking to wake her up, he went to Frisk and shook her
"Frisk! Frisk, wake up!"
the girl opened her eyes wide, breathing heavily
"are you okay?"
"what happened ?" asked the stunned girl
"you floundered in your sleep and asked someone to tell you about your friend"
She looked at him blushing and said
"sorry, I had a strange dream, I had some kind of encounter with myself"
Shade chuckles and then said "you humans very weird site"
"probably it is" she replied
"listen let's talk, tell me what you humans do?"
The girl started talking about her city as how she was formed and the days she spent there, school , friends and her grandfather she did,before realizing that the discussion was becoming much more intriguing, they started talking like two dear friends and began to tell each other very personal stories.
"Live with your real grandfather," Shade asks
"Yes, believe me, even though he's 69 now, he looks 50, some who don't know us think we're father and daughter" Frisk replied smiling
"but your parents?" hearing that question, Frisk's smile faded, he lowered his gaze and replied in a low voice "they are gone"
Shade with a surprised look asked her "why?"
Frisk didn't want to think back to that moment but decided to do it anyway
"two years ago we were returning from Toronto where we had spent the weekend, we were on the road out of the rain but the road was clear and there was no obstacle there, I was looking out the window bored by all the rain, I was about to fall asleep when ... it all happened quickly, I heard my mother scream and my father making an irregular detour to the left, the only thing I know is that we are there rolled and I hit my head, it was all foggy I saw the car and my parents bleed, being pulled out of the car, I heard voices talking but I didn't understand what they wanted and then nothing, I woke up in the hospital I had a collar neck and arm in plaster, my whole body was very bad and I couldn't move even if I wanted to, the doctors came to check me on how I was but I just wanted to know how my parents were, one of the doctors m I look at them with a look full of pain and I explain the situation, my parents were dead, my father died exactly when we fell and my mother died shortly after arriving at the hospital for various cuts on her body, that news to me it devastated, I felt lonely and I remember that all night I cried like I had never done in my life "
Shade couldn't help but feel sorry for her story, she was alone she had no parents, he understood how she felt" I know how does you feel "
Frisk I look at him surprised by his answer" Cassiel my father disappeared years ago without a trace, a few days before my birth and he never came back, I never met him and when I saw the other puppies playing with their fathers I felt abandoned "Frisk with a slight smile said to him

she said showing photos of her and Chara they drank, it was actually Chara drinking and Frisk watching her revelry with the barrista, another photo, Chara was standing at a witty table, she had a bottle in her hand completely drunk and Frisk instead tried to get her off, and in the next photo Chara got into a fight with a well-dressed 24-year-old woman with tattoos on her arms, while Frisk tried to separate them
"this Chara isn't exactly a responsible girl," Shade said. looking at the photo
"I know, in fact everyone has always considered me the more mature of the two" Frisk said with a laugh
"but she was the safest and strongest of us ... see when I was younger I was often bullied by some children in the classroom because I had freckles and braids, Chara always came to my aid and beat the bullies who bothered me and since then we have become inseparable "
she said showing a picture of her and Chare making funny faces in front of the camera
" I'm afraid for her, I don't want her to be in danger "she said with a sad and worried face
"Frisk, listen, it is true that you will have separated but maybe you too and somewhere here, you can find her and I will help you look for her" Frisk I look closely at him with wide eyes
"seriously !?" she said incredulously
"sure" Frisk didn't believe it, because Shade was so thoughtful with her, besides others he was not afraid of her, he even has her to stay with him for a while convincing his mother and in turn the elders

but Shade simply said
"I trust you, because if you wanted to hurt me you would have done it already and then if Noctunia chose you as you said, you cannot be an evil person because our goddess is a protector and would only choose someone kindhearted, a protector who cares for others, like when you defended me with Chinook or how you care about your friend, that's why I feel I can trust you. "
Frisk was surprised by his response from this little bat, his words made her feel like a heartbeat of confidence and strength inside her, it was weird but it was the first time someone had ever addressed her like this
"you know Shade you are the first to see me like this, many think that I am weird, boring or annoying "he looks at her with sympathy
" you don't seem boring or annoying at all, sure you are strange, your appearance is strange, your ways and the leaves you wear are strange "
" still strange and I bite your ears "said the girl with a nice smile
Shade r he snapped a little for the joke, they noticed that the sun was setting by observing the slight orange light, but to be sure Frisk went to a hole in the bark to see better, outside he saw before his eyes a truly wonderful show of lights on and warm, the sun was setting and the light was at its best
"Shade, come and see it's beautiful" Frisk said turning to the boy, but Shade refuses with a scared look
"Shade okay?" replied

"law? what law?" the girl asked, but Shade didn't answer, just went back to settle next to her mother to rest leaving the girl with her questions.
Pov Frisk
the next night, Shade and I searched the forest for even a small trace of Chara, we explored bushes, hollow trees and even the lairs of various animals, which is a bad idea. We were near a dirt wall when we saw a den, I went inside to see if there was any sign of her
"Chara !? Are you here !?"
a verse like a very strong tridium took me by surprise, I got scared and ran out of the den, we heard a voice approaching and out of the den came a huge old porcupine with a very angry face
"and you want thugs, you know what time is it !? "I approached calmly" I'm sorry, we didn't want to bother you "" sorry "
" all excuses, all excuses "he said irritably
I took courage and asked him" Mr. Porcupine has not seen a girl like me, with light brown hair, green eyes, with ... "before I could finish my description she yelled at me
" okay me good brat, I work all day in the forest and at night I would like to rest at least a little before going back to work "
but I said" sorry but you are not a nocturnal animal? "
he gets angry and runs towards me screaming" insist, do you want to taste my feathers!? "
Suddenly Shade takes me by the shoulders and takes me away before the porcupine attacks me, we ran away "and don't come back !" yells at us
After hours of research we decided to rest a bit before starting the search again

" well then let's go back to search "I said standing on the branch

Pov third person
Chinook landed on the branch with his two companions
"Frisk I want to introduce you to my dear friends, Tobb" he said pointing to the chubby male
"and Breeze" he said pointing to the female with the purple skin
"pleasure" said the girl with a slight smile,
the two they approached her "so you're the human everyone's been talking about lately" asks Tobb
"oh yes, I don't think there are other humans in mignatura" cherzo Frisk
"I heard you met Nocturnia" Breeze said curiously
"oh yes"
"Tell me ,like?" he asked enthusiastically
"I didn't see her face, I only heard her voice"
Breeze I seem disappointed with her answer but I try to hide it
Chinook approaches her wrapping her with his wing annoying her "Is Frisk coming with us for a flight around?"
she gently took off her wing and calmly said "sorry but me and Shade are busy" walk over to Shade ready to go with him
when Chinook said "don't waste your time with that rat, it's small and puny, like his father who left the colony "
Shade hearing those words about his father got very angry, approached him screaming
" don't insult my father! he didn't leave the colony! "
" he will surely be dead then, however weak he was and not 'it's fault, the weak always end badly "
Frisk hearing those cruel words about Shade's father, I remember his parents and the accident they had two years ago, remembering the troculent images of the wrecked car and his parents inside, the hospital and where his parents died shortly after they arrived at the emergency room and their funeral, he snapped at Chinook angrily
"how dare you make fun of something like that!" I keep walking back the tallest silverwing
" you have no idea how much it hurts to lose your parents, how much it hurts to know that you will never see them again and how lonely it feels in the world when it happens "
Chirook looks at her without words noticing a hint of pain in his eyes
"you can't know, because you haven't experienced it, so don't you dare say more bullshit like that or I guess what canvas I charge! "
the edges of the branch came and they heard a creak that made them jump, part of the branch was breaking under the weight of both of them and starting to break
