Spyro meets Pyro

Chapter 28: What's The Plan?

Last time on Spyro meets Pyro: Pyro had made a plan to help everyone escape but it was ruined by giant robotic machines that could adapt to their elements. After the others were defeated Pyro was taken to the mountain of Malefor where the dark generals used his body to awaken and release Frauxus. Pyro gave his final words to his friends and disappeared in a giant explosion, giving them the chance they needed to escape. Now we rejoin our heroes to find out what they will do next. Everyone please make sure to leave your reviews, if you have any ideas for me or this fanfic.

We join our young dragons as they continue to fly away from the Mountain of Malefor. They had been flying for at least 2 hours straight, but they would not stop. For one they wanted to make sure they were safely away from the dark army and two, they wanted to fly away from the pain of losing their comrade.

Everyone had sad looks upon their faces as they continued to fly. They all felt miserable, and broken. They had lost a friend, a brother, and a mate all in one. Now they were incomplete and had no idea what to do.

As they kept flying Spyro's eyes caught the light of the rising sun and he decided that they had flown long enough. He turned back to the others and said, "We should go ahead and land guys. We need to rest and hunt. We can land in that clearing over there."

Everyone nodded weakly and followed the purple dragon to the ground. As they all landed their wings began to sag, from exhaustion and over use. None of them said a word, they all just sat there in silence and sadness.

Even Sparx had been silenced by the shock of losing Pyro to the forces of darkness. He sat beside Flare as quiet as a mouse and stared at the ground. Although everyone was miserable, none was worse off than Star. The white dragoness was blaming herself for everything that had happened and for what had happened to her mate.

Spyro was the only one who found the the strength to speak. He turned to the others and said, "Alright, everyone rest and get some sleep if you can. I'll go see if there's anything worth hunting in this forest." Flame turned to his friend and said, "Spyro hold up, I'll go with you."

Cynder stopped him and said, "That's all right Flame, I'll go. You stay here with Ember." Flame turned to the pink dragoness and then back to Cynder and nodded. With that the black dragoness and the purple dragon were off.

Once in the forest Cynder and Spyro began moving through the many trees and long grass. The black dragoness turned to her mate and was worried about his silence. She then decided to take the first step, "Spyro, are you alright? I mean I know what just happened must be bothering you, but you should know you can talk to me about these things."

The purple dragon stopped and turned to her with a saddened look on his face and tears streaming down his eyes. He then slowly moved towards her. Cynder was somewhat surprised but also relieved to see this. Seeing Spyro openly showing his emotions instead of keeping them bottled up was a good sign.

She was caught of guard however as she suddenly felt him brush up against her as he began to nuzzle her underneath her neck and on the side of her head. She smiled at first but soon the tears found their way to her eyes as well.

The purple dragon pulled away from her with a sad look on his face as he looked her in the eyes. Cynder could feel her heart beating like crazy as the dragon she cared most for, just stood like a statue, only a centimeter away from her face. She then placed her head against his while asking, "Spyro, are things going to be ok?"

The purple dragon sighed and replied, "I don't know. This is the belt of fire all over again for me. Someone I care about sacrificing themselves to save us and me just standing there unable to do anything."

Cynder felt the pain in her heart spike as she remembered what had happened to Ignitus on the day she and Spyro had decided to confront Malefor, and when the fire guardian sacrificed himself in the belt of fire. She then flashed back to what had happened to Pyro only yesterday.

Her claws dug holes in the ground as the pain from that moment continued to haunt her. She could only imagine how Spyro felt being his brother and friend.

The purple dragon then continued, "I'm just glad I have you to get me through this. If I didn't I… I have no idea what I'd do. I'd feel so lost and alone." Cynder looked up and pulled her head away from his. Spyro looked up and watched as Cynder took hold of his face and pulled into a real and passionate kiss.

Spyro felt no shock, no surprise, only relief that Cynder was here with him, at this very moment. As the two dragon's tears fell from their eyes and hit the ground they found what little peace they could in this moment and with each other.

Cynder then pulled away and said, "Like I said on that day, you're not alone, and you never will be." Her purple hero then gave her a small grin, which made it physically impossible for her not to smile back.

He then stood up and said, "Come on, let's go. If we don't get back with some food soon, they'll start getting cranky." "I have to agree, you remember what happened to Flame the last time we took too long getting food."

With that the two dragons went off to find some prey.

Later on back at the campsite:

Later that night Spyro and Cynder returned with the carcass of a giant boar big enough for all of them to share. The couple looked on to their friends and looked at what happened while they were gone. Ember had tear streaks down her face, showing that she had been crying, and Flame was trying his best to comfort her.

Star who had been crying the whole way had finally stopped, but the streaks could easily be seen as well as the wet marks on the ground. She sat away from group with Razor and Stella to be her company, lying on the ground in silence.

Sparx and Flare hadn't moved from their spots, but turned to the purple dragon and black dragoness as they exited the forest. Candice seemed to have been pacing back and forth, no doubt trying to figure out what they were going to do now that Pyro was gone and they had been beaten so easily.

Upon laying eyes on the carcase behind the duo, Flame volunteered to cook the thing, and it came out pretty good. As soon as it was done everyone came by to take part of the meal and eat what they could; none of them had too much of an appetite at the moment. The dragons gorged themselves and didn't stop eating until they were completely satisfied. There was not a scrap of meat left on the bones and the dragons were now resting by the fire.

Minutes passed, but to them it felt like hours. No one spoke a word as they all knew what the others were thinking and who they were thinking of. A few of them let out deep sighs or grunted as they shifted positions, but no one moved from their spot.

All that could be heard was the sounds of the forest, besides that it was so quiet that if you were passing by you'd think all them were asleep or dead.

Spyro then decided to get everything together and figure out a plan. He stood up in front of the others and said, "Ok guys, I know we can't pretend that what happened yesterday didn't happen and I know that we can't just forget it either. Pyro is gone, and there's no way we can replace him. But, if we give up now, all we're doing is making his sacrifice be in vain."

Everyone in the group made serious looks and turned to the purple dragon knowing he was right. Flame then said, "Spyro's right. Pyro was a big part of our team and helped us all improve so we could save our world. We can't let all that hard work we all did be for nothing."

Sparx then asked, "Ok, we agree that we need to do something, but what? I mean what are we supposed to do now? Malefor and this Jones guy are at full power. Gual and that Sterns freak keep getting stronger, and now we have that ice princess and those wolves to deal with along with the other armies they have. On top of all that, they now have a dark version of Pyro, just as powerful as the real one on their side, what are we supposed to do?"

Flare looked from Sparx back to Spyro and said, "I'm not trying to be negative, but Sparx has a point. According to the prophecy, Spyro and Pyro need to fight the Gaul, Sterns, Jones, and Malefor, then together defeat Aikis once and for all. Both of your powers are needed to end this."

Star sighed and said, "Actually we don't have to worry about that." Everyone turned to the still saddened white dragoness as she stood up to speak. Star then held up her paw and white fire ignited forth.

Everyone gasped as this happened and listened to her as she continued, "Just as Pyro was about to be destroyed, he gave us all a piece of his nova energy. I'm guessing he gave his ancestral energy to one of us, but after his power flew into me I shut my eyes from the rush his fire gave me. I didn't see who received it."

Flame closed his eyes and felt his power. He then said, "She' right, I can feel it. I'd know that energy anywhere."Ember nodded and said, "I can too, I've never felt so much power before. This means we still have a chance."

Candice then said, "But that still begs the question, what do we do now. Thanks to that tournament we've all gotten stronger in our own ways, but from what I can tell we've been thrown off track and we're right back at square one. We're outnumbered, outgunned, and most of all running out of time. We need a plan."

Cynder then turned to their purple leader and asked, "So purple dragon of legend, you got a plan?" Spyro nodded and spoke up loud so everyone could hear. "We have to keep going, as planned. From now on we watch each others backs and stick together no matter what. But Candice is right, we're going to need one singular plan that we can follow. Razor, you were Pyro's strongest, and from what he told me, smartest general, as well as his personal tactician. You got any ideas?"

Razor thought for a minute and said, "I say we should all head back to the 'White Isle'. Ignitus should be able to help make a plan and point us in the right direction. If not he should at least be able to give us a clue or something as to what our next step should be." Stella stepped next to her fellow general and said, "That sound like a great idea."

Spyro nodded and said, "Alright we've got a plan. Everyone get ready to move, we take flight at sunrise!" With that everyone began to look for a place to curl down and sleep.

Little did the group know that the very elder they spoke of was already at work figuring out a plan for them.

On the White Isles:

Ignitus had watched the whole scene play out again and again, but he couldn't believe what had happened. The prophecy spoke of both the purple dragon of legend and the dragon king stopping the darkness from consuming the world.

Yet the dragon king was no more and the dark forces were growing more powerful by the day. That was not the only issue, Spyro had not yet finished his training and awakened his true power and now everything had been thrown out of whack.

Ignitus was beside himself, he had no idea what to do, and no idea where to look to find the answers. For the past few hours he had been watching the scene of Pyro's tragic demise to see if they was any indication that he had somehow survived.

However there were no indications of this and it seemed the only thing that remained of the dragon king was dark side Fraxus who now served under Malefor. The guardian of time sighed as he thought, 'I suppose I must come to terms with this. Pyro is gone, but at least with his dying breath he gave his friends a fighting chance.'

As Ignitus watched the scene play out again he grimaced as the world had lost yet another valiant soul. He then began to search for the others hoping that they had found a safe place to hide and rest.

He finally managed to locate them and let out a deep sigh of relief at seeing all them safe… well almost all of them. He decided to examine them to see if they were all good health and back at full strength.

Upon doing so he came across a sight that intrigued him. As the elder dragon examined them, he noticed that four of them were giving a strong and familiar signal from within. Upon further inspection, it became clear what he was seeing. Knowing that the young dragons were safe Ignitus went to log in what had transpired in the books and other records he was responsible for.

Soon night fell and all the creatures shut their eyes to rest for the next day, all except the creatures of night, that now awaken to take their time out in world, and they were not the only ones up late this night.

The Mountain of Malefor, Midnight:

On one the mountain ledges looking over land was the recently freed black fire dragon Fraxus. He looked over this new land with a serious look on his face as his mind began to wonder.

He had never been outside of Pyro's body before, but now he had one of his own and could do whatever he wanted. He began to think back to the day he first took over his 'original personality's' body. All he could think of doing was destroying everything with his black flames and turning everything before him to ash.

Since then he and Pyro have battled again and again for dominance over the body they both resided in. Eventually however he and Pyro had worked out their differences and had worked together to defeat many enemies they couldn't defeat alone. Still they did not share the same interests or point of views. Fraxus was rage, wrath, raw primal instinct incarnated into a single being, and unstoppable force of nature whose power only knew one equal… himself.

Every now and then he would influence Pyro's emotions, and when he took over he would tear any enemy that stood before him apart. He always thought of himself as his own person, but he also knew that he and Pyro were connected, they were parts of each other, but it was still Pyro who was always in control.

When he was inside him, all he was concerned with was moving from one fight to the next, and his alter ego was the one who decided who it was that they would fight, and it always fun, but now he… was gone.

Fraxus felt no sadness towards death of his other half, but he couldn't help but feel confused, now that he was free. The one who had always chosen which path to take was gone. What was he going to do, who was he going to fight, and who was going to decide that? Would it be Malefor: the one who had freed him, Glacia: the dragoness he had feelings for, or himself. Following the orders and will of another dragon didn't sound all that appealing, but he did owe these guys.

Finally the black dragon decided he was done thinking about it. He then thought, 'No point in running my brain non-stop if it just confuses me. I'll just wait and see where things go. If I like it, I'll stick to it, if I don't, I'll 'fix' it.'

With that settled he began to make his way back inside. About halfway down the hall, he spotted General Sterns, and Colonel Jones. One thing he shared with Pyro was his hatred for these two, and that had not changed since he joined Malefor's army. He hated them and he made it abundantly clear.

As he walked past them, he shot them one of his famous spine tingling glares, which made Sterns take a small step to the left. He then let a devious smile appear on his face and was on his way.

The human dark general clenched his fist in frustration, as that arrogant dragon not only disrespected him, but did so in a cocky manner. Jones tapped his shoulder and said, "Oh let it go, we'll have plenty of time to teach him his place later. Right now, we have work to do."

With that, the two turned and left heading down another nearby hallway.

As Fraxus continued to move through the mountain he turned to the right to see an all too familiar door. The door that led to the very room, where his life not only began, but Pyro's ended. He was tempted to go inside, but he decided against it and kept going.

Finally he arrived at his room, which Malefor had given him, that was not only a few doors down from the war room in which they held their strategy and battle meetings, but was also three doors down from Glacia's room.

As he stepped inside he looked around the room and thought, "Huh, not very classy, but at least it has the essentials." Fraxus's room was basically a big box. There was a bed, a dresser, which held new armor crafted for him, and a bookshelf. As he stepped in, he decided to lie down and drift off.

He was brought out of his slumber when he felt someone touch his back. Considering the temperature of the paw that was touching him, and the scent he was smelling, he knew exactly who it was, and let a smile come to his face.

It was none other than Glacia who was behind him, he could only guess she snuck in here so they could be alone. Sterns, Jones, and the wolves run her ragged all day working, but they all knew what would happen if they disturbed him.

She then spoke in a soft seductive tone as she reached her paws under his wrapped them around his stomach. "Hey handsome, I was wondering when you'd be back."

He responded with a stretch and said, "Yeah, I had a lot to think about. Hope I didn't keep you waiting long." "Not at all." She responded as she leaned her head over his. He then turned his head to meet hers. The two dragons connected their maws in a lustful kiss.

As they pulled away, she lay back down beside him as she asked, "What were you thinking about anyway?" He rolled his eyes and said, "Ah just wondering what's going to happen next. I've been locked up in Pyro's mind and soul for years, now that I'm here I'm dying for some action."

She then said, "Well it's going to be a while before our next mission or before we begin the next stage of the plan, so you might not get to fight for a little bit." He grunted as heard that but listened as she continued. "But if it's action you're looking for…" She sat up and stood over him as she continued. "I'm sure I can help with that."

He leaned up towards her and said, "You know, I think I'm going to like it here." She then moved her head forward and kissed him as his paws made their way to her hips.

She let a lustful sigh as she felt his paws touch her, and moved closer as he continued to do so. Her licked and nibbled at her neck causing her to moan loudly. She then said, "I think we've had enough foreplay, my handsome dark warrior." "I couldn't agree more."

"General Fraxus." Came a voice from the other side of the door. Upon hearing his name being called, a loud growl escaped the dragon's throat while annoyed grunt escaped the ice dragonesses. He then yelled angrily, "What is it?!" The guard spoke timidly and submissively, "Sorry to disturb you sir, but Malefor has requested you."

Glacia then stated, "At this time of night, that's rather unusual. It must be important." "Indeed. Very well, I'm on my way." The annoyed black dragon jumped out of his bed leaving his lovely dragoness to lay there alone with a disappointed look on her face.

He turned to her and said, "Don't worry hot stuff, I'll be back." She smiled and replied, "I hope so, I'm dying to see what skills you'll show me on this battlefield." He smiled wickedly as he closed the door behind him with his tail. He then walked to the war room and entered.

Upon doing so he saw Malefor sitting at the center table moving pieces on the battle board, no doubt going over different strategies to use for the next encounter with his former teammates. The dark purple dragon turned to his general and said, "Ah yes Fraxus, come in, I wish to speak to you of a matter of great importance."

"I would expect nothing less since you called me here in the middle of the night." The adult purple dragon chuckled as he responded, "I do apologize for that, but I'm afraid this can't wait. You see I've come across something rather enlightening and in another way foreboding."

"And what might that be?" Malefor stood up from the table and made his way over to an old book, which placed on the table and opened. He then motioned for Fraxus to come over and sit down with him.

"This book speaks of the purple dragons as well as the dragon kings and their origins." Fraxus looked upon the words and pictures of the book, but could not see where the elder dragon was going with this. He decided to ask, "So what's this got do with me, or you for that matter?"

Malefor turned the pages until he reached the one he was looking for. As he stopped Fraxus's eyes shot wide in complete and utter shock. For a second time in his life, he had felt fear. He then asked worriedly, "What the hell is that?" Malefor laughed as he said, "This is the true power of the darkness within every purple dragon. It is a form that I will soon take, as will you when the time comes."

Fraxus was shocked, and yet at the same time confused. He then asked, "I see, but you said that there was also something foreboding about this." He nodded remembering this. "Ah yes, you see Fraxus, as you know from personal experience, light and darkness exist within an eternal balance: life and death, push and pull, night and day, yin and yang. So where there is darkness."

Malefor turns the page, "There is always light."

Fraxus's eyes once again widened in surprise, but as he analysed the image he saw that it matched up with drawings in the cave they had gone to before. Not only that but he had a feeling that somehow Titanus wouldn't be the only one with that kind of power.

He then thought of something and said, "If what this is book says is true, then that would mean that purple dragon as well as the dragon king have the potential to unlock both powers and choose which one they want to be dominant."

"That is correct and it is that choice alone that decided what road the purple dragon will take. It was this decision that truly made the difference between me and my young successor."

The confused black dragon let his mind begin to wander until a thought occurred to him. "Malefor if all this information is cataloged in the these books. It may mean that you and Spyro aren't the first purple dragons to clash like this. That also means this isn't the first time the dragon king was involved either. This whole scenario must have happened before."

The dark master chuckled to himself as he said, "Yes, you are wise young dragon. I too believed this was a possibility, and although we may never know the outcome of that ancient battle, we shall soon see the conclusion of our own."

Fraxus contemplated everything he had just heard and seen. He could not help but wonder what would be in store for him as well as Glacia. For a moment he was surprised, that he would think of her so quickly. He was supposed to be anger and wrath incarnate, but he found himself actually caring for another. Still he knew he had much to worry about, including the dragon kingdom if Malefor's plan to revive Aikis triumphed.

Before he could think of an answer Malefor Spoke up calling him back to reality. "Now then young dragon, you may head back to your quarters if you wish. You will need your rest for tomorrow." "Why's that?"

The purple dragon turned to a new page in the book and said, "I have a special mission for you. I need you to find a specific artifact for me, that will play a large part in Aikis's revival. You will receive a full briefing tomorrow, and you will be given everything you need to complete your mission."

The dark king nodded and began to make his way out of the War Room, but just before he left, he took one last look at the book and thought about what might await him in the near future.

As he returned to his room, Glacia smiled and greeted him, "Welcome back hot stuff." She was met with silence as he approached, climbed onto the bed and lay down beside her. She couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"

"Glacia…" the black fire dragon began. "I think you and I better keep an eye on future events. Something tells me that soon you and I are going to have to make a very important choice that could decide our futures."

Glacia curiosity got the better of her and she asked, "What exactly happened in there?" He smiled and said, "I'll tell you tomorrow, but right now I'd rather get some sleep. I have a mission in the morning."

She sighed and said, "Alright then." She then got up and prepared to leave until he grabbed her paw. "I said I'd like to sleep, I didn't say alone." She smiled and lay down beside him as she said, "You're quite the charmer aren't you?"

He moved closer as he said, "Guilty as charged." He then kissed her nose getting her to giggle before they snuggled together and let their sleep take them.

Out over the ocean:

Spyro and the others had been flying since sunrise had flown quite a distance. As they continued, Sparx asked, "How long till we get there?" The purple looked back his brother and answered, "It shouldn't be too much longer, I'm starting to see some familiar landmarks." The dragons continued flying as they scanned the surrounding area for anything that would help them pinpoint their location.

Cynder then looked ahead and narrowed her eyes as she was something. She quickly realized she was looking at the beach and alter that led to the White Isles. She Then called out, "Land Ho!" The rest of the group turned ahead to see the land they had been searching for. Spyro flew ahead and yelled, "Follow me, we'll land on the beach and head inland from there."

Everyone followed the purple dragon's lead and landed on the beach. All of them scanned the area for any enemies that could be nearby, but saw that the ghost was clear. Spyro turned to the others and said, "Alright everyone, stick together and follow me. You see anything give a shout and alert the rest of us. Let's move!"

The dragons made their way inland and began to search for the entrance to the Chronicler's lair.

They walked along the cold grey sand until they came to the ancient buildings that signified where the ancient dragon of time resided. As per the purple dragons instructions they all stayed vigilant with their senses on high alert.

As they continued to walk, a small sound caught Flame's attention and he turned his head to a nearby cliff. He saw nothing, but he saw more rocks fall from up there, he was convinced that something had gone just out of sight. As they continued walking, the fire dragon kept his eyes on the cliffs in case whatever was up there came back.

The silence of the White Isles was something most of them had gotten used to, but it didn't make any less creepy; luckily that kept them from letting their guards down. As Flame continued to scan the cliffs he did a double take on one as he saw thought he saw something. The teenage fire dragon saw nothing now, but he did the shadow of something only a split second before. Now he knew, they were being watched. He leaned forward and whispered, "Um Spyro…" Just as the purple dragon turned around, a sound up front caught all their attention.

They heard footsteps and groaning nearby that told them clear as day that something was coming. The dragons got into their battle stances and summoned their elemental energy.

A split second later stone soldiers, the exact same Spyro fought when he first arrived here, appeared out of the shadows and from the cliffs; counting them there were at least 20 of them. Sparx yelled out, "We're surrounded!" His brother called out, "Don't panic, stay sharp!" The dragons held their ground and prepared for battle. The stone soldiers charged as they let out their loud groans and howls.

Spyro then called out, "Form a circle! Razor use the rocks to form a shield wall!" "Got It!" The psychic dragon grabbed many large boulders and surrounded his team mates with them in a perfect circle separating them from the stone zombies. The purple dragon called out again, "Razor when I say now, move the boulders! Everyone else when he does fire an element attack from inside." "Right!"

The stone soldiers slammed against the boulders trying to get to the dragons behind them. They swung their swords, and smashed their shields into them, trying the break or move them, but they were held in place by Razor's psychic power. Said dragon was making sure to stay focused, holding all of them in place at the same time.

Spyro then called, "Now!" As planned Razor shifted the boulders giving his friends the opening they needed to attack. All of them shot their individual element attacks, blasting their adversaries back or knocking them down. Spyro called out again, "Everybody move! Attack!"

The team of dragons split up and engaged the stone army. Spyro was the first to attack. An earth soldier attacked from the front with its sword. Spyro ducked under it before smashing it in the chest with his horns and blasting it with electricity. The electric arcs sent the stone man flying back before he shattered into pieces. Spyro heard movements on both sides of him and jumped in the air just in time to avoid downward slashes on both sides. Once he was out of the way he shot a fireball where he once stood blowing both stone monsters to bits. The purple dragon landed back on the ground and turned to see how his teammates were doing.

Cynder was next as she dove into her shadow, avoiding an attack from a stone soldier. She then leaped from inside her shadow, slashing the stone beast to pieces with her shadow covered claws. She then looked behind her to see another coming straight for her. She called forth her fear element and blasted him with a large blast of her red energy. The stone soldier shook for a few minutes before it shattered to pieces and fell into a heap of rubble.

Flame had two stone zombies on both sides as his eyes darted from to the other as he waited to see which one would attack first. Both of the stone soldiers let their usual loud groans before they charged the teenage fire dragon. He responded by leaping into the air at the very last second and shot a fireball down where he once was blasting both of them to pieces. As he landed he heard something come up behind him and turned to see another stone soldier swinging it's blade down at him. Thinking quickly he tilted his head to the side, using his horn to block the blade. Not bothering to stop his flow he wrapped his tail around his opponent's leg and yanked forward dropping him on his back. Flame then heard another stone soldier coming and smiled as he took a deep stance. He dug his claws into the ground, swung with his all his might and tossed the zombie warrior into the approaching one. Flame snorted smoke out of his nose as he defeated his enemies and went to help his friends.

Candice, Flare, Stella, and Sparx stood in a triangle formation blasting any and all enemies who approached, and covering each other if they left themselves open.

Spyro had just used an earth shot to blast a earth soldier to dust. He then saw three charging him at once from different sides. Thinking quickly the purple dragon jumped into the air and used his earth flair to smash all three as they closed in on him. As the purple dragon landed he picked up movement behind him and glanced backwards just in time to see another ice warrior swing it's mace down at him. Reacting quickly, Spyro summoned his ice element and used his ice tail attack to block the mace. He then used draconic strength to force the mace away and used the momentum to spin around and slash the zombie in half.

After dispatching the last zombie Spyro looked to his companions to see that they had finished off the others and were regrouping. He approached as he called out, "You guys ok, nothing broken?" Sparx replied, "We're all good bro. The only thing broken around here is these stone freaks."

Flame then said, "Do we have to do this every time we come here?" Cynder walked past the fire dragon before standing next to Spyro as she answered his question. "It would seem so." Razor spoke from up ahead getting everyone's attention. "Don't worry guys, that's the only fight we're going to have do. The Chronicler showed me a secret entrance we can use. It'll take us straight to the main chamber."

Candice sighed and said, "Finally some good news." Stella stepped next to her and said, "Oh come on it's not that bad. Besides that fight gave us a chance to get us back in the groove. Now let's go!" Candice then thought to herself, 'Where does all that positive energy come from?' The ice dragoness quickly dismissed her question and quickly rejoined her friends as they went down the tunnel.

As they entered the secret passage, it closed behind them making it completely dark. Cynder then said, "Good thing we all have night vision. It's pitch black in here." Razor turned to them as responded to her comment. "Don't worry Cynder, just give a sec." As soon as the psychic dragon spoke, the tunnel began to light up with a calm green light. As the cave lit up, the dragons could see that the light was coming from glowing crystal all along the cave walls.

They marveled over the beauty of the crystals and looked at them from every angle. Spyro then said, "Come on guys, we don't have time to dawdle. We have to keep moving." Knowing that he was right, they quickly followed their purple scaled leader and kept moving down the tunnel.

They continued walking down the cave close together for about five minutes before they could see the exit.

As they exited the long tunnel the group once again found themselves in the Chronicler's library. Ignitus turned to them said, "Well done young dragons." Sparx stepped forward and said, "Every time, every time! Can we just once come here without being attacked by those things?!" Everyone couldn't help but laugh as the yellow dragon expressed his annoyance.

Ignitus smiled and replied, "My apologies. I was preoccupied with something and I didn't have time to deactivate them. Still I must say, I am glad to see you all standing together despite. . . our recent loss." They all made sad and pain filled expressions as they remembered the fate of their friend. Spyro sighed as he looked up to his adoptive father as he remembered why they came here.

"Ignitus, I'm sure you already know why we've come back here. With Pyro gone, and dark army still on the move, we have to know how to proceed. We need a plan." Ignitus nodded and said, "I understand Spyro, and you are correct. However, before we can proceed, you must finish in awakening your true power. You have awakened and mastered the abilities of all your elements except one. Now you must go and complete your awakening, and unleash the true power of the purple dragon within you."

Spyro nodded and asked, "Ok, where do we need to go?" Ignitus moved over to the pool of visions and showed them. "The final elder, the elder of life, Gaia. She resides in an ancient underground city called 'Haven', similar to the one you and Cynder journeyed through during the Destroyer's attack. Your friend Tremor is already there and has received her instruction in mastering his element. You will rendezvous with him there and begin the final phase of your training."

Flame blew fire out of his nose as he got psyched to continue their adventure. "Alright guys, let's get moving! We've got a job to do." They all nodded and prepared to get moving.

They then stopped in their tracks as Ignitus held up his paw and said, "I'm afraid not all of you will be going." Stella then asked, "What do you mean Ignitus? Is something else going on?"

"I'm afraid so young dragoness. The dark army is on the move. According to what I could see, they are searching for an ancient artifact of dark magic, that will aid them in accelerating Aikis's revival. A few of you must journey to the location of this artifact and prevent them from acquiring it."

Spyro shook his head and said, "He's right. It's going to take time to get Haven, and even longer to complete my training. We're going to need all the time we can get. We need to slow them down." Razor stepped next to the purple dragon getting everyone's attention. "So the question is, who's going to the city and who's delaying the enemy."

They all turned to Spyro to hear his decision. The purple dragon turned to Ignitus and asked, "Ignitus, where are they going? Where's the artifact." Ignitus answered, "According to the pool of visions, the artifact lies where Cynder once ruled; Concurrent Skies." He looked at all of them, before closing his eyes in thought. Finally he opened them again and spoke out. "Alright, Razor, Flame, Stella, and Flare you're going after the artifact. Cynder, Candice, Sparx, and I are heading to Haven."

They all looked to each other before nodding in agreement.

Ignitus nodded and said, "Alright good. All of you can stay here and rest for the night. You will set out first thing in the morning." They all nodded and headed to the living area, where the rooms were located.

As the others headed to their rooms to get some rest, Spyro went back to the inner chamber with a somewhat disturbed look on his face. He walked into the spacious room that looked somewhat smaller to him now. He then looked into the pool of visions and saw his reflection. Upon doing so he realized how much bigger he'd gotten since he was last here.

The purple dragon let out a deep sigh as he thought about how many years had passed since he first left his home all those years ago. He remembered everything he had done, everything he had accomplished since he left on his first adventure with his dragonfly brother.

As he remembered Sparx, his mind soon drifted to his other brother. It had been only one day since his death and now here they were about to continue their mission without so much as proper time to grieve for him. The teenage dragon was brought out of his brooding by the familiar voice of his father.

"Are you alright Spyro?" He turned to him before looking back to the pool of visions as he answered. "Honestly Ignitus, I'm seriously worried. Not only that, but after what happened. Huff." Ignitus listened as his dragon he thought of as his son confided in him.

"Ignitus, what if I can't do this? What if we can't do this? Just when I think we've gotten stronger or gotten an advantage, Malefor and his flunkies seem to have gotten just as strong if not stronger. And now. . . now. . . now I've lost my brother. I had to watch him die right there in front of me as I stood there, powerless to help him. I want to be able to protect them Ignitus, but what if I can't."

Ignitus let out a deep sigh as he remembered how he himself once wondered asked these very things when he was a young guardian. "Spyro, I'm afraid there is time in everyone's life when they realise there are things beyond their control. You are incredibly brave and very powerful for one so young, but there are things that even you cannot stop. What happened to Pyro was indeed a grave loss, but it is not one that you should take the blame for. The dark ones and they alone are responsible for his fate."

Spyro looked down as he heard this and prepared to ask one last question. "Father. . ." Ignitus's eyes widened as he heard this and looked down to the young dragon. "What do I do when there's something I need to do, but what I have isn't enough."

"Do not dwell on things beyond your control, less they consume your mind with doubt. Focus on what lies before you, and do what is within your ability to accomplish, and if it is just beyond your grasp, push beyond your limits and reach for it. That is the best advice I can offer. . . my son."

Spyro smiled as he heard these words and looked into the glowing blue pool an inch from his paws. Ignitus turned to head towards his chamber before looking back. "You should get some sleep young dragon. You have a busy day ahead of you tomorrow."

Spyro looked back and responded, "I'm just going to stay up a bit longer. I need some time to think. The elder dragon nodded and continued on his way. Spyro looked back to the pool as he pondered what the best course of action would be best for tomorrow.

Many Miles Away - Outside the Underground City of Heaven:

In a large meadow, at the foot of a mountain near tall plains, two teenage dragonesses were walking toward the large mouth of a cave with baskets on their backs. One was dark green, with white claws and light brown horns, the other was dark blue with brown claws, and horns.

The green one turned to her friend, and said in a friendly yet lecturous tone, "I told you we'd be late if we didn't hurry back."

The blue scaled dragoness replied in nonchalantly, "Oh will you stop worrying, we're not that late. Besides it was worth it to find all this fruit." Her friend sighed and replied, "Well, I'm glad we managed to get so much. Now the elders might not scream our heads off. Oh there's the entrance let's go."

As the blue dragoness shot off her friend replied, "Yeah, yeah, I'm come- Huh? Hmmm, what's that?" She stopped as she spotted something on her left towards the forest. She looked closely and saw that whatever it was, was red. She decided to take a closer look and moved closer to the object.

Upon doing so she gasped and put her paw to her mouth as she saw what it was, or more precisely who. Before lay a male red dragon, no older than laid out on the ground. He was covered head to toe in injuries, and he wasn't moving. She put her basket down and moved closer as she looked him over. She looked closer and saw that he wasn't moving. She feared he might be dead and checked his pulse. "Oh my. . . Tia! Come back here!"

"Oh come on Eva, what is it - Oh! What happened?" As she saw the dragon for herself she ran forward and checked him over as well. Eva responded as they were both starting to get frantic. "I don't know. You think he's. . . alive?"

Tia inspected the body further and found no signs of movement from the dragon. "Hard to tell, these injuries are severe, and he's not moving." Tia began to sniff him trying to figure out what happened or where he came from. She then nudged him with her nose. "(groan)".

"He's alive!" Eva screamed out loud. Tia nodded as she replied, "Yeah, for now, but. . . what in the name of ancestors happened to him?" Tia shook her head and said, "I don't know, but if we don't get him help, he won't survive the night. Eva, you stay with him, I'm going to get the elders."

"Oh O-Ok." the green scaled dragoness looked down at the red male dragon, and said, "Don't worry buddy, you're gonna be ok. . . I hope."

That's right everyone Spyro meets Pyro is back. It took me a while to get over my writers block, but I'm back in the game with this Fanfiction. The chapters won't be coming very fast as now, I've got a lot of things to attend to and I'm paying more attention to detail. I'll be paying attention to my other works as well, but trust me this story is far from done. To those of you who stayed loyal fans and keep leaving comments, I say thank you. Stay tuned, leave your comments, and await the next chapter. To those who have ideas for my chapters or the characters, leave a comment, and I'll see if I can put it in.
