From the side of the ship, Princess Jasmine stared up at the dawn sky, then towards the slums of the island, looking at the many poor peasants that were struggling to get by. There were so many of them, but she was determined to help them all and tomorrow, she would take the first step towards her goal.
The other princesses arrived and to say they were a bit disheveled from their first day of babysitting would be an understatement. Messy hair, tattered clothes, and mushed bananas on their faces were more than an indication that Thomas had worn them out.
Merida and Rapunzel, who had their hair tangled in each other, passed by Jasmine.
"Oy, I need to lay in bed," said Merida, trying to untangle her hair.
"I'm with you there," said Rapunzel, trying to do the same.
"What happened?" asked Jasmine.
The good fairies told her about them finding the scepter and making the deal with Wanda as the other princesses passed by her.
"I never thought I could be so happy in all my life, but seeing the way that boy stuffed that raw turkey up Tiana's dress was priceless!" Feemer said with a laugh.
"Haha, very funny," Tiana said sarcastically while rubbing her butt.
"Oh, it wasn't that bad. I look forward to seeing Thomas again," said Snow White.
"Snowy, sometimes you are too optimistic for my own sanity," said Merida.
As the other princesses headed inside the boat, Cinderella, who seemed the less worse for ware, noticed Jasmine still at the dock, and decided to talk to her. "Hi, Jasmine," she said.
Jasmine slightly jumped before answering back. "Oh, hi Cinderella," she said.
"Is something wrong?" Cinderella asked.
"Oh, it's nothing. I'm just a little...nervous," Jasmine said.
"Nervous? About what," Cinderella asked.
"Well, I do want to help these people, but there's so much for me to do tomorrow just to make it happen. I'm entirely sure if I'm ready," said Jasmine.
Cinderella wasn't sure what kind of advice to give to Jasmine or even how to motivate her, but she had to at least try. "Listen, you are a very determined person and a great princess. I know you can do this," she said.
It wasn't a big speech, but it was the best she could do.
Jasmine nodded at Cinderella's words. Though still a bit weary, she was confident.
The first piece of business was the horserace. Jasmine had dealt with horses before so this task should prove no problem to her.
This year, the usual horses that ran in the race had gotten sick, leaving the king to replace an entire group of horses. Argon introduced Jasmine to the horses that would be running in the race; a black stallion named Archer, a golden paint named Cream, a brown stallion named Buck, a dark red stallion named Wind Storm, a light brown horse named Clopper, a black and white paint named Bruiser, a grey horse named Spit Fire, and a dark brown horse named Gallop.
Jasmine knew the first thing she had to do was get herself well acquainted with the horses.
"Be careful, princess these horses are very hard to tame," said Argon.
"Don't worry about it, I'll be fine," said Jasmine as she walked towards Cream.
Jasmine knew that when approaching a horse, you had to be slow and steady in order to gain trust. She slowly reached out her hand to Cream, touching her nose.
Argon and the other representatives were impressed by Jasmine's handling of the horse. But as Jasmine turned around, Cream let out a big sneeze, covering her in snot.
"Ohh, I should've mentioned, Cream has had a bad case of the sniffles recently," said Margret.
"Thanks for telling me ahead of time," Jasmine said sarcastically.
Next, Jasmine tried her hand with Clopper. Clopper seemed quite fond of Jasmine.
"Clopper is very friendly," said Christopher.
Jasmine gave Clopper a nice, smooth pet across the back before patting him on the butt.
"Well he's not so bad," said Jasmine.
Suddenly, Clopper farted in Jasmine's face, causing her to fall to the ground.
"Ohh, there's that bad case of gas again," said Douglas.
Next up for Jasmine was Archer. She tried feeding him a carrot from a bucket and he ate in one second flat. She gave him another one and ate it just as fast.
"Wow! You have quite an appetite," Jasmine said.
As Jasmine turned to talk to the representatives, behind her, Archer scarfed down the last of the carrots and then tried to eat her hair.
The rest of the horses were no picnic either; Wind Storm hated taking baths and ended up getting Jasmine covered in soap water with a piece of soap in her mouth; Spit Fire lived up to his name and was always moving, Jasmine had trouble riding him and ended up hanging onto his tail; Buck was covered from head to hoof in fleas that got onto Jasmine as well, making her itch like crazy; Gallop was extremely lazy, Jasmine couldn't budge him an inch; and as for Bruiser, well, let's just say that Jasmine will be feeling a lot of Bruiser's kicks in the morning.
"I hope the others are having fun?" Jasmine said to herself.
But in fact, the other princesses weren't. Half of them were exhausted from giving Thomas piggy back rides. Merida had just finished her ride with Thomas and he moved onto Tiana.
"Oh boy, that's the third one I've given the kid today," Tiana said to herself in annoyance.
Merida went to rest with Rapunzel, her hair more messy than usual, while Rapunzel's was tangled up in knots.
"My brothers are wee devils, but that lad is a demon!" said Merida.
"Well, kids will be kids," said Rapunzel.
Merida chuckled. "Yeah, I guess. I wasn't exactly a wee angel meself when I was a lass. My mother had a heck of a time controlling me," she said. "What about you? Did your mother or father have the same problems?"
Rapunzel briefly turned her head away from Merida before answering. "I was...actually a well behaved and responsible child. Yep, no problems with me," she said nervously.
As Thomas was riding on Tiana, he began spanking her extremely hard to get her to move faster.
"Help me..." Tiana whispered to Merida and Rapunzel.
Thinking fast, Rapunzel brought Thomas to her attention and formed part of her hair in the form of a jumping rope.
Thomas loved this and rushed over to her, jumping rope with her hair, much to Tiana's relief as well as the other princesses.
"Oh, thank goodness," Tiana said.
"Let's just hope that Snow White gets back with the food soon," said Mulan.
The horses were returned to their stables as Jasmine was having her wounds treated with ice in the house. She had never felt pain like that before in her life. The horses in Agrabah were wild, but nothing like those eight she had met.
"My deepest apologies, Princess Jasmine," said Argon.
"It's ok, I'll just have to try harder with them. I'm not giving up," said Jasmine.
Just then, a gentlemen with short blonde hair approached her, carrying a small book. The king introduced him as Steven, the official consultant for the horserace costumes.
"King Argon has told me that you will be aiding in the preparations for the horserace and I have brought with me some suggestions for the costumes," said Steven before he showed Jasmine the book.
He flipped page after page after page, rapidly showing a variety of costumes, describing every detail of each costume. He showed her over 55 different costumes which was overwhelming to her, causing her to literally get circles in her eyes. King Argon asked if she was alright and Jasmine responded by dropping her head.
The other princesses took a moment to rest as Thomas used Rapunzel's hair as a swing. Snow White returned carrying a bag of groceries and the other princesses rushed over to her, elated to see her back.
"Oh, Snow, thank heavens!" said Tiana. "Do you have the food?"
"Yes, no need to fret. I have everything I needed to get," said Snow White.
"Good, because my hair can't take much more of this," said Rapunzel.
"Just keep him busy while I'm in the kitchen," said Snow White.
Thomas began swinging from Rapunzel's hair like a vine which put her in immense pain. The other princesses tried in vain to grab him while he was swinging, but he was too fast for them. They all hoped that Snow White would finish making lunch and soon.
Jasmine, along with the king and the representatives stood before a large audience behind a large ribbon that stood in front of the recently completed country club. The young princess felt a little nervous as she didn't have a lot of experience in something like this.
"Stay calm, princess," said Argon. "Just smile, wave, and cut the ribbon."
Jasmine nervously chuckled, gently waving her hand to the audience as Argon spoke to them and promoted the country club. He then handed Jasmine a giant pair of scissors and directed her to the ribbon. With eye firmly fixated on her, Jasmine slowly brought the scissors to the ribbon and cut it, signaling the opening of the country club. The audience applauded.
Later, Jasmine, Argon, and the representatives met in the main building of the country club. Jasmine figured this would be the best time to continue discussing the issues of the island with them.
But as she was about to speak to them, Christopher offered her a plate of finger sandwiches. They were not like the food she was used to, but it would've been rude of her not to try it anyway, so she picked one from the plate. It didn't really taste good to her. In any case, she spoke her case to the representatives.
"As I said before, there are a lot of people on this island that need help. They need food, water, and shelter," she said.
After some thought, Jasmine suggested that the poor people be moved to the country club. The club seemed like it would be an ideal place for them to stay. It had lots of room and comfort and the staff could provide them with plenty of food and clothing.
Argon seemed content with the idea. "It does appear to be a suitable haven for them," he said.
The representatives took Jasmine's idea into consideration when a few people approached them with unamused faces. They overheard Jasmine's suggestion and were absolutely appalled at the idea of 'peasants' inhabiting their country club.
"We can't just let them starve!" Jasmine protested.
Argon and the representative were at odds end. They couldn't decide what they wanted to do. But then Jasmine had an idea, she suggested that the poor people get jobs at the country club. They could live there and serve a purpose.
"Excellent idea, princess Jasmine," said Argon.
The representatives agreed as well as the other people and so the plan was set in motion.
Jasmine breathed a sigh of relief for she knew that soon, the poor people of the island would be provided for.
Belle chased Thomas through the room as he slid down the staircase. The other princesses pursued the kid who proved to be just to quick for them until he grabbed Rapunzel's hair and tied them up in it.
"Well, this isn't good," said Ariel.
Thomas began beating on the princesses heads like drums when Snow White came out of the kitchen.
"Oh Thomas. Lunch time," she said.
This stopped Thomas in his track and he rushed to the kitchen, much to the other princesses relief. Snow White had made him some gooseberry pie and the other princesses rested as he gobbled down the pie.
"Whew! Nice job, Snow White," said Cinderella.
"You really know how to handle children," said Pocahontas.
"If I ever get kids, I'm sending them to military school as soon as they're in diapers," said Tiana.
"Aren't they put in diapers as soon as they're born?" asked Mulan.
"Exactly!" Tiana answered.
With the assistance of the king, Jasmine rounded up all the poor people of the island and transported them to the country club. Once situated there, they were provided with food, clothing, and shelter. It seemed as though things were going well; Jasmine smiled as she saw the poor people being provided for. However, Margret approached her and the king with some less then positive news.
"Princess Jasmine, we have a problem," she said.
"What is it?" Jasmine asked.
"We can't fit all of the peas-I mean, poor people into the club. There is not enough room," said Margret.
Jasmine could see that the country club was getting crowded. Every room in the club was filled up. The situation was not looking good, especially since this meant that not enough food could be provided. Plus, there was a bit of unrest between some of the poor people, each fighting for space in the club as well as clothes. And if matters weren't hard enough, the poor people were expressing their grief to Jasmine over the lack of room as the resident were complaining about the poor people taking up space.
It seemed as though Jasmine had a dilemma on her hands, but she didn't know what to do. She was at her wits end. At that moment, she began to realize how her father felt at times running Agrabah. If this was even close to what he had to deal with, she couldn't even imagine how she would be able to handle things.
The sounds of the grieving poor people and citizens was driving the young princess to the point of insanity. She couldn't think straight and was close to getting a headache, but eventually, she got an idea.
As dusk approached, the other princesses, with the exception of Snow White, hobbled to the ship, looking forward to getting some sleep after putting up with Thomas all day.
"Thomas looked so cute with gooseberry all over his face," said Snow White.
"For such a little kid, he sure has a big appetite," said Aurora.
"Yeah, where does he put it all?" said Rapunzel.
"Maybe in the same place he put that spatula. You don't wanna know," Tiana said.
With that pleasant image in their heads, the princesses headed to the ship to find a bunch of the poor people onboard, much to their shock.
Feemer didn't need to think long about who was responsible for this. "JASMINE!" he shouted.
The said princess rushed over in response. "I know what you're gonna say, but this was the best place I could think of," she said.
"Jas, we have enough trouble babysitting one kid, now we're supposed to babysit all these people too?!" said Tiana.
"For once, I agree with Tiana. This is outrageous, Jasmine! You need to send them away immediately!" said Feemer.
"I can't! They need me, they need us!" said Jasmine.
"No, they need you, not us. You're on your own on this one. The rest of us are trying actually trying save our husbands and the whole dang Magic Kingdom, but all you care about is making sure a few poor people are happy," said Tiana.
"Well at least I care about them!" Jasmine said in retaliation.
"I'm not saying I don't care about them, but again, we have to think of the bigger picture!" Tiana responded back.
Pocahontas quickly broke up the fight, for the gang knew they had more important things to worry about, like how to take care of all the poor people on the boat.
The good fairies directed them inside the boat to get them situated as Jasmine was trying to gather herself. Ariel walked over to check on her.
"Is everything alright, Jasmine?" Ariel asked.
"It's just...I don't know what else to do. I'm trying so hard to help these people, but I don't know if I can anymore. Not to mention all these responsibilities I have; tending to horses, deciding on outfits; trying to provide for peas-I mean poor people; it's all so much and I can barely do any of them. I can only imagine what my father would think if he saw me now," Jasmine said.
"I'm sure he would appreciate what you're trying to do," said Ariel.
Jasmine slightly nodded in agreement. "I just wish I could handle things a little better," she said.
Belle approached the two. "No princess is perfect. You just have to think things through a little better and just be yourself. Handle it the way Jasmine would. You can't go wrong when you're being yourself," she said.
Contemplating Belle's words, Jasmine came to a resolution and her confidence rose.
The next day, Jasmine took a deep breath and walked into Argon's castle with assertion and vigor, ready to take on whatever she had to face.
The first piece of business were the horses, starting with Cream. Jasmine went to peed her carrot when she started to sneeze again, but this time, Jasmine was prepared with an umbrella. After feeding Cream the carrot, Jasmine petted her on the head.
The representatives and Argon were impressed with how well Jasmine handled herself.
Next up were the other horses.
Jasmine made sure not to pat Clopper on the butt and stayed in front of him; she gave Archer ten buckets full of apples and carrots; instead of making Wind Storm take a bath, she tricked him into one by pouring water on top of him; she rode Spit Fire like a bull and reigned him in, bringing him to a stop; she washed Buck from a distance to avoid his fleas; and to get Gallop to move, she used a tack.
As for Bruiser, Jasmine had to try a more direct approach. She stood her ground and slowly approached him. She took a deep breath, showing no fear, standing face to face with the powerful horse. Bruiser looked into her eyes, seeing nothing but resolve and at that moment, he felt calm and assured as the young princess put her hand to his face, much to the shock of the representatives.
At the racetrack, Jasmine and the representatives observed the horses taking a training run when Steven approached them. He showed her the 55 plus costumes again and Jasmine responded by showing a design of her own.
They all had an Arabia feel to them with gold lining and a few jewels here and there.
Steven was amazed by the designs and decided to make them the official riding outfits for the race.
As for the poor people, since they couldn't all fit into the club, Jasmine decided that they should all live in Argon's castle. He had plenty of room in that big castle of his and while some of them work at the club, others could work for him.
Argon agreed with Jasmine's suggestion, as did the representatives and the poor people were immediately moved from the country club and the ship to the castle.
The poor people were pleased with the new accommodations they had. They were given better clothing, food, and shelter; and best of all, they wouldn't be a burden.
As for the races, they went by perfectly without a hitch. The horses were well behaved and the rider rode in Jasmine's new outfits. Jasmine along with Argon and the representatives looked on.
"Princess Jasmine, I must say, you have shown some quite some initiative. You will make a great queen someday," said Argon.
"Well I don't know about that, but I'm just glad I could help those poor people," said Jasmine.
"We must celebrate with a royal banquet," said Argon.
"Could I help?" Jasmine asked softly.
"Of course," said Argon.
Today was the final day for the other princesses to babysit Thomas and Wanda returned relieve them of their duties. When she returned most of them except for Snow White were in a mess.
"I see Thomas was quite a handful," said Wanda.
"There were a few...mishaps, but other than that, he was a perfect angel," said Snow White.
"If he's an angel, then I'm a fire-breathing dragon. Heh, good thing Mushu didn't hear that," said Mulan.
"Well thank you for all your help, ladies," said Wanda.
As she had promised, she gave them the crystal scepter. The princesses fainted in relief when Jasmine came to the door.
"Hey, girls. Had fun?" she teased.
"Very funny," said Aurora.
Jasmine invited her friends as well as Thomas to the royal banquet. Thomas jumped with excitement at the thought of so much food.
"Big appetite as usual, son," said Wanda.
Later that night, all the poor people of the island along with the Argon, then representatives, Thomas, and the princesses joined in the dining hall, all dressed up in attire that Jasmine had designed.
Wanda made sure to keep Thomas from eating up all the food.
"I have to say, Jasmine, these are very nice outfits," said Snow White.
"Yeah, who knew you had a knack for fashion design," said Tiana.
"Hmmmm, I didn't even know," Jasmine said with a giggle.
Just then, Argon brought everyone to his attention. "Ladies and gentlemen, as well as new servants, it is my honor to present to you the young lady who made all this possible; Princess Jasmine!" he announced.
Jasmine stood before the applauding crown, not really having a speech prepared, but feeling compelled to do so.
"Um, thank you. When I first came here, I wanted to help those that were less fortunate than me, but I wasn't entirely sure I could do it. I had to do a lot of things to help out anyway I could and at first, it all seemed kinda frustrating. I don't know much about being a princess, but I know that I have to try and do whatever I can and I have to be true to myself. I wasn't sure how to handle responsibility, because I spent most of my time running away from it, but now I realize that I can't and when the time comes for me step up as queen, I will gladly accept it and help the people the of Agrabah as much as I helped all of you," Jasmine said.
At that moment, the scepter glowed and floated into Jasmine's hands; it had chosen her.
"Good work, Jasmine!" said Cinderella.
"Nice job, lass!" said Merida.
The crowd applauded again as Jasmine accepted her hard earned scepter.
The next day, the gang gathered some supplies and headed onto the boat, ready to get on their way. But not before Argon and the poor people of the island saw them off, specifically Jasmine.
"Thank you for all that you've done," Argon said as he approached Jasmine.
"I was only happy to help. It was nothing," said Jasmine.
"Nothing?! I think not! These people owe a lot to you and so do I. You've shown me that I need to care more for all my subjects, not just the higher up ones. From now on, I'll do everything I can to see that these peasa-I mean, poor people, are treated properly," said Argon.
The poor people all gathered around Jasmine and each shook her hand with gratitude as the other princesses looked on.
"You have to admit, she did pretty well," Merriweather said to Feemer.
"She was passible. I will admit, she was passible," Feemer said as Jasmine came onto the boat.
Giving a final wave goodbye, the gang departed the island for their next adventure.
Tiana then approached Jasmine. "Hey, girl. Look, I'm sorry," she said.
"Me too. I know we have a mission and I know we can do it," said Jasmine.
"You know, those were some darn good outfits you made. You ever consider being a fashion designer?" Tiana asked.
"Didn't really cross my mind. Aladdin could use a new pair of pants," Jasmine said.
Tiana and Jasmine giggled as the ship set sail into the archipelago in search of the next island and the next scepter.
