Some time had passed since the gang had left the last island, following Feemer's glow to the next one as usual. While on route, the princesses were talking inside the ship while deciding to do each other's hair.
Pocahontas was doing Jasmine's hair, Cinderella and Belle were doing Aurora's, Tiana was doing Ariel's, Snow White was doing Mulan's, and Rapunzel was doing Merida's.
Pocahontas was naturally confused as this was the first time she had ever done anybody's hair. As she held the comb in her hand, she wasn't sure what she should do, so she first tried brushing Jasmine's shoulders.
Cinderella giggled as she watched. "No, Pocahontas, you brush the hair," she said.
Pocahontas took Cinderella's advice and firmly brushed Jasmine's hair.
Rapunzel however was having much trouble with Merida's hair, her brush getting stuck in all the knots with every stroke and hurting Merida more and more, the harder she tried.
"Not so rough, Rapunzel," Merida said, wincing in pain.
"Geez, Merida! When was the last time you combed your hair?!" said Rapunzel.
"I don't know...last year?" Merida answered.
With the adventure that the girls had been having, this was a good for them to just relax for a while and make fun of Feemer.
Just then, a thought came to Mulan's mind. "Hey, guys, we've been out here for a few months now and we've gotten a good number of the scepters already, but do you think we have what it takes to handle that kind of power?" she asked.
"Of course we do. We wouldn't be here if we didn't," said Merida.
"Yeah, but what if when we use the power of the scepters, sure we beat Golett, but then the power has some kind of effect on us?" asked Mulan. "It may be too much for us."
"Mulan may have a point. I mean we're dealing with magic we've never seen before," said Tiana.
"Well I've dealt with magic and Pretty Face over here used to have magic hair, so I don't think we'll have a problem," said Merida.
"Yes, but the last time I dealt with magic, I was placed into a trance and put into a deep sleep. Magic can sometimes be a very dangerous thing," said Aurora.
"And having magic can be very dangerous. I know that all too well," Rapunzel said.
Some of the other princesses recalled their experiences with magic which were less than pleasant. And who was to say the scepters would be any different? The gang contemplated the possibility of not being able to control the power that came with them.
Just then, Cinderella spoke up with a deep breath. "Listen, I don't if we will able to control the scepters' powers or not, but I do know one thing, we were chosen to do this and we can't let our husbands or the magic kingdom down," she said.
The other princesses nodded in agreement, but then another thought came to their minds.
"Now that you've mentioned our husbands, I really miss Naveen," Tiana said depressed.
"And I miss my Ferdinand," said Snow White.
Phillip, Eugene, Charming, Aladdin; all of them raced through each of their thoughts. They all wondered what condition their husbands might be in.
"I wish there was some way we could know if they're alright," said Aurora.
"Maybe Feemer could help. He is a sorcerer after all," Snow White suggested.
"Um, paging Dr. Snow, Feemer is a rock," said Tiana as she knocked Snow White on the head a few times.
"Uhhh, what about those fairies of yours, Aurora? What are their names? Floral...Fanum...and...Mirriwither?" said Merida.
"It's Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather; and I think they might have a spell that could help," said Aurora.
"Alright, then let's do it," said Tiana.
And with that the princess headed for the upper deck. Rapunzel pulled her brush from out of Merida's hair, but ended up with a large chunk of it. Seeing this, Merida glared at Rapunzel who chuckled nervously before heading up with the other princesses.
The good fairies along with Feemer kept an eye out for the next island when they were approached by the gang.
"Is everything alright, dearies?" asked Fauna.
What the princesses asked of the fairies was certainly something out of the ordinary for them. They had never once tried a spell like this before, so it was uncertain if they could actually pull it off. But at the very least, they had to try. They could see that the princesses were missing their husbands and loved ones, so it would've been wrong of them not to.
Grabbing their wands, the three fairies prepared to attempt the spell.
"Here goes nothing," said Flora.
The fairies combined their magic in the hopes of creating a portal to the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, try as they might, they could not make a portal of any kind. The princesses sighed in disappointment.
"We're sorry," said Merriweather.
"It is alright. You did your best," said Pocahontas.
The good fairies felt terrible at not being able to help. Feemer did as well, even though he didn't show it.
Meanwhile at said kingdom, things were looking no better, for at Yen Sid's tower. Most of the residents of the kingdom were growing frustrated, up in arms at the situation. While some were fine with waiting out until the princesses came back, others were growing impatient and wanted to take action now. One of those individuals was Razoul of the Sultan's royal guard who slammed on Yen Sid's desk.
"This is ridiculous! I am a mighty soldier and I am hiding out here like a coward!" he bellowed.
"Hey, hiding out like a coward ain't so bad," said Timon. "You live longer, no bruises, no scrapes, no cuts, oh, and did I mention, YOU LIVE LONGER!"
Chen Po, Ling, and Yao approached the two.
"Well I am tired of hiding. I say we go out there and kick some shadow butt!" said Yao.
"Yeah! And kick it extra hard!" said Ling.
"A wise man once said, it is better to not kick butt and live to kick butt another day, than to kick butt and never kick butt again," said Chen Po.
"I have no idea what you just said, but if it means you agree with us, than yes!" said Yao.
Yen Sid sternly slammed him his desk back at them in response. "NO! You will all stay here! It is not your destiny to fight a battle you cannot win! The princesses will return, but until then, you will do nothing!" he said.
Despite these words, Yao and Razoul were not very accepting.
Inside the ship, the princesses were deep in thought, concerned about their loved ones. Most of the princesses imagined being able to once again feel the warm embrace of their husbands.
As they shared more stories about them, Merida could think about her parents as she didn't have a husband of her own. Though as she listened to the stories, she couldn't but feel somewhat left out.
"...and it took Ferdinand forever to wipe the...stuff off of him," Snow White said before Merida approached her and the others
"Hey, could I ask you lasses a question? What's it like to fall in love?" Merida asked.
"Well it's the most wonderful feeling in the world," said Snow White.
"You can't really describe it, but, when you find that special someone in your life, you just know that he is the one," said Mulan.
"And when you discover it, you have a need to be by his side, no matter what," said Jasmine.
"It's like two destines brought together by fate," said Pocahontas.
"Or in some cases, a magic spell," Aurora said with a chuckle.
"Same thing with you, Merida. When you find that special someone, you'll know it," said Ariel.
The concept of falling in love was definitely something that was a foreign concept to Merida. Sure, she loved her father, mother, and even her wee little devil brothers, but she hadn't considered the thought of a 'special someone' as Ariel stated. Most of her time was spent swinging swords and shooting arrows, not thinking about marriage.
Suddenly, the three fairies appeared inside the ship.
"Next island, dead ahead," said Merriweather.
As the princess headed to the outside, a cold chill encompassed the ship, forcing them to fold their arms for warmth. It wasn't long before they began to see their own breath.
Suddenly, a flake of snow touched Aurora's nose and a gentle snowfall surrounded the ship and the princesses shivered as the temperature dropped lower.
Noticing that the princesses were cold, the good fairies waved their wands and created winter coats for all of them.
"Warm and fashionable. I like," said Tiana.
"Yes, thank you," said Pocahontas.
Snow White looked up at the sky, watching each snowflake drop with a still stare. "This reminds me of...my mother," she said softly.
Seeing the snowflakes reminded her of the times as a child she spent with her mother; looking out at the same snowfalls from the balcony of her palace. She remembered one time that her mother told her of how before she was born, she cut her finger on a thorn and after seeing her blood on the snow, wished to have a daughter with skin white as snow and lips red as the reddest rose.
A smile came upon Snow White's face as the memories came back to her. However, with this happiness came sadness as well as she also remembered that on a day much like this, she stood at her mother's bedside as she spoke her final words to her.
As the painful memory came across her mind, a tear fell down Snow White's cheek as the gang approached the island. Belle noticed and walked over to her.
"Snow White? Are you alright?" Belle asked.
"Oh yes, I'm fine," Snow White responded, wiping the tear off her cheek.
As the ship approached the island, the gang saw that there was no dock, so they had to dock near the land. After placing the anchor, the gang exited the ship onto the island as a blizzard came.
"Feemer, are you sure the next scepter is on this island?" asked Mulan.
"As sure as you all are freezing," said Feemer.
"You're telling me. I think my teeth are gonna turn into ice cubes!" said Merida.
"And all this snow is getting caught in my hair," said Rapunzel, shaking the snow out, causing it to hit the good fairies in the face.
Rapunzel smiled awkwardly.
Feemer's glow pointed towards the southeast direction and so the gang followed forth, further into the blizzard. After a few minutes of walking, the blizzard settled and the gang's eyes widened from what was revealed to them.
There were dozens and dozens of people who appeared to be Eskimos, strolling around a village of buildings made out of ice. Hand crafted buildings made entirely out of ice and ice statues all over the place.
"Wow! It's like a giant icebox come to life," said Tiana.
"I find it quite lovely, actually," said Aurora.
Pocahontas walked over to one of the buildings and examined it. She had never seen anything like this before. She started by knocking on the ice a few times, then put her tongue out to lick it, getting her tongue stuck. Merida and Rapunzel saw this and went over to help her. They both grabbed her and tugged hard, pulling her tongue off of the building.
"It's ok, Poca, I did the same one time at the castle. Took me an hour to my tongue unstuck," said Rapunzel.
One of the Eskimos, a female one, walked over to the gang. "Hi there. Are you new here?" she asked.
"Yes we are," said Flora.
"How could you tell?" asked Merriweather.
"You don't seem to be used to the cold," the female Eskimo said, noticing the gang shivering. "Anyway, let me be the first to welcome you to Fridgum."
"Thank you, dearie, and you are?" asked Fauna.
"Hey," said the Eskimo.
"Um, hello, but what's your name?" asked Fauna.
"Hey," the Eskimo said again.
"Yes, hello, but what's your name?" said Merriweather.
"Hey!" the Eskimo said again.
"Hello, but what's your name?!" the good fairies said.
"My name is Hey!" said the Eskimo.
"Oh, Hey!" the gang said.
"Hi, nice to meet you," Hey said in response with a laugh.
The good fairies informed the female Eskimo of why they had come to the island. Hey didn't recall ever seeing anything like a scepter, but encouraged them to keep looking. However, she also suggested they get something warm to eat first since they obviously looked chilled to the bone. She invited them over to a nearby restaurant where they could get some hot soup.
The gang accepted Hey's offer and followed her to a place known as the Polar Pub. Inside, the gang took their seats before a waiter came in to take their order. Hey asked for, 'the usual.'
As the gang waited for their order, a male Eskimo accidentally bumped into Merida.
"Sorry about that," the male Eskimo said.
"Don't worry about it," said Merida.
The male Eskimo got a good look at Merida and was rather impressed by her looks before he slowly walked away. Ariel noticed this and scooted over to her.
"Hmm, I saw the way that guy was looking at you," said Ariel.
"What are you talking about?" asked Merida.
"I think he might like you," said Ariel.
"What?! But I don't even know his name," said Merida.
"Well you could change that. Go over and talk him. He's rather handsome," said Ariel.
"What?! No!" said Merida.
"Oh come on! Before we landed here, you were asking what it means to fall in love? Well, I'd say this is a good chance for you to find out," said Ariel.
"But we won't be here forever and besides he's an Eskimo and I'm...Scottish," said Merida.
Ariel just sighed.
The waiter arrived with bowls of soup for Hey and the gang.
"What is this?" asked Flora.
"Salmon soup. It's delicious. And it has low cholesterol," said Hey.
The gang gave it a try and found it was actually quite tasty.
After warming themselves up with the soup, the gang bid Hey farewell and continued on their search. As they followed Feemer's glow, Snow White couldn't but stare at the white, falling snow. It was so beautiful, that she picked up a handful of it and began sculpting a bird out of it.
"Let's just find the scepter and get out of here quick. I think my toes are going numb," said Tiana.
Eventually, the gang was led to the outside of a forest. Feemer's glow grew brighter as they approached the entrance, so they figured the next scepter would've had to have been somewhere around the area.
"So you think the scepter is somewhere in this forest?" asked Belle.
"Seems that way," said Feemer.
"Good, then this should be easy," said Snow White.
"Sweetie, it's never that easy," said Tiana.
As the gang prepared to head into the forest, they were suddenly stopped by Hey.
"Wait! Stop! Are you guys heading into Icicle Forest?" Hey asked frantically.
"Yes, we believe the scepter's in there," said Flora.
"Well that's not the only thing in there," said Hey.
"What do you mean?" asked Snow White.
Hey told the group about a wicked sorcerer who invaded the island many years ago. He sought to take it over as well as the entire Realm of Alatar. However, another sorcerer from a far off island arrived to try and stop his plans. The two engaged in a long battle, but after a while, the good sorcerer used a freezing spell to trap the evil one in a block of ice. After his defeat, he was placed in the forest in the hopes that no one would ever release him. She warned them that if they ever encountered him, no matter what he said, to not release him.
"Well if he's been in there for so long, maybe he's changed," said Snow White.
"Don't be ridiculous, Snowy. People don't just change," said Merida.
"Well maybe he's had time to think about what he did and wants to change," said Snow White.
"You can't believe that people can just go from bad to good just like that, Snow. It doesn't work like that," Merida.
"Anyone can have a change of heart. As long as we all do our part," said Snow White.
"Look, we don't have time to talk about this. We have a scepter to find," said Tiana.
What that, the group went into the forest.
Bits of snow fell from the branches of the tall trees. The snow itself was so thick that it formed a canopy overhead and the group had a bit of trouble walking through the snow on the ground.
"Yeah, remember what I said before about my toes? Yeah, now the numbness has gone to my feet," said Tiana.
"Oh stop complaining!" said Feemer.
"It's easy for you to say that, you don't have any feet," said Tiana.
"Well I used to," Feemer said in retaliation.
Just then, a blizzard came in to cut off Tiana and Feemer's arguing. The cold wind blew hard, nearly knocking back the group.
"I can't see anything through all this snow!" said Jasmine.
The good fairies took out their wands.
"We can handle this," said Flora.
The fairies waved their wands and used their magic to push the blizzard back. However, the force caused Fauna's wand to fly out of her hand.
"Oh no! My wand!" said Fauna.
"I'll get it," said Snow White before she ran after the wand.
"Snow White! Wait!" shouted Belle as Snow White disappeared into the blizzard.
By the time Flora and Merriweather push the snow back, Snow White was too far ahead. There was no trace of her even after the blizzard eventually stopped.
"Oh dear," said Fauna.
"She could be anywhere in this forest," said Merriweather.
The group knew they had to find Snow White, but it appeared that they were also close to the next scepter.
"Alright listen, Cinderella, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Aurora, Jasmine, and Pocahontas; you guys go with the fairies and Feemer and look for the scepter; me, Merida, and Ariel will look for Snow White," said Belle.
The group all nodded in agreement and went their separate ways.
Meanwhile, Snow White was quite a ways from the rest of the group searching for Fauna's wand.
"Here, little wand, where are you?" Snow White said softly.
The princess tried digging through the snow until she eventually found it. She picked it up and was about ready to return to the group when something stopped her.
This 'something' was a huge block that stood in front of her. But this wasn't any ordinary block of ice, this block of ice had a man in it. A man with a black goatee and wearing a dark blue and gold robe.
The man stood frozen before Snow White who eyed him curiously until a revelation came to her.
"This must be the sorcerer that Hey was talking about," Snow White said to herself.
Realizing this, Snow White prepared to head on her way.
"Wait!" a voice suddenly said.
"Who said that?" Snow White asked.
"I did," the voice said.
Snow White looked around until she realized the voice was coming from the sorcerer in the ice block.
"But...how are you talking?" asked Snow White.
"I'm communicating with my mind. Impressive, yes?" said the sorcerer.
"Well...yes, but...I...think I should go," said Snow White.
"I suppose you've heard of me?" asked the sorcerer.
"Yes...yes I have...," said Snow White.
"Well, I do not blame you. I was consumed with a lust for power and wanted all to bow before me and to rule over everyone. But I was wrong. Spending all these years frozen has made me realize that. Oh, my name is Cadarius, by the way," said the sorcerer.
Snow White introduced herself. At first, she wanted to leave, but upon hearing the trapped sorcerer's words, she began to wonder if it was the right thing to do.
Cadarius didn't beg Snow White to stay, he understood why she felt the way she did.
He seemed sincere and Snow White was always the kind of person who believed in second chances, so maybe he deserved it after being trapped for so long. But then she remembered what Hey had told her about not letting him out. However, despite that, she was conflicted. Common sense was telling her to walk away, but her heart was saying otherwise. Looking at Fauna's wand, she realized she had the very thing that could set the sorcerer free, but she didn't know what to do.
Cadarius didn't say anything, he just allowed Snow White to think for herself.
Finally, Snow White decided to do what she felt was right. She turned to the sorcerer, waved Fauna's wand, pointed it at the sorcerer, and let out a green beam of magic which caused the ice around Cadarius to melt, freeing him from his prison.
The sorcerer was shocked at the kind thing that the princess did for him and stood before he, giving her a bow of gratitude. "Thank you, my dear. I will never forget what you've done here today...and neither will you...because you will remember it as the stupidest thing you've ever done," he said.
As Snow White looked upon the sorcerer with a widened expression, he levitated Fauna's wand out of her hand and grabbed it for herself.
Just then, Merida, Belle, and Ariel arrived.
"Snow White!" Belle shouted.
Cadarius noticed the other three princesses as they rushed over to Snow White. "Oh, so these are your friends? Well, I owe your friend many thanks for being so gullible. Now If you don't mind, I have a piece of property that belongs to me that I'll be needing back. Tata, ladies," he said before he flew off.
Merida, Ariel, and Belle turned to Snow White, who held her head down in shame.
"What did you do?" Merida said.
